  1. I do not get why teams always bring a bunch of kickers in for what is basically a "kick competition" when looking to sign a kicker. Rayner is the youngest of the high profile kickers out there and has a heck of a leg but has been terribly inconsistent. Wouldn't career body of work be a better predictor of success than a two hour kicking competition? For example, they also had Shayne Graham in. Check out the career stats: Rayner: 73.3% FG Percentage 98.5% XP Percentage Graham: 86% FG Percentage 98.45 XP Percentage Graham kicked very well for New England last year in conditions similar to ours. Rayner kciked sparingly in a Dome in Detroit and had one kickoff for the Raiders this year. Unless Graham has totally lost his leg strength, which isn't likely for a kicker only 33 years old, I don't get the move.
  2. From a quick look through KFFL free agent list and Wikipedia (in my order of preference): 1. Shayne Graham, 33, 12-12 for NE on FG last year, 2-2 in the playoff, 35-37 extra points 2. Jeff Reed, 32 3. Kris Brown, 34, 4-5 on FG last year with SD 4. Dave Rayner, 29, last cutdown of Dallas, good leg, inconsistent I really liked the guy that they had in camp too and figure he is the most logical replacement.
  3. Awesome. Got my MBA from East Carolina. Glad to have a Pirate aboard! (although I'll admit, I know nothing about him).
  4. Nice trade. Tough to trade Johnson but if White can pick it up a bit you'll be fine. Rice is a huge pickup. I am in the same boat. Top scorer, 2-4. Mike Williams TB is one of the main reasons.
  5. So my QBs are Mike Vick (bye), Kevin Kolb (Pittsburgh), and Carson Palmer (KC) who I picked up this week due to severe QB issues in the league. With Vick out and Palmer probably not going to play, I need to find someone to start this week. Kolb against Pittsburgh is not to my liking so I am going to drop him and pick someone up which leads back to the severe lack of QBs available in my league. Here are my options: Colt McCoy vs. Seattle Tavaris Jackson vs. Cleveland Curtis Painter vs. New Orleans Blaine Gabbert vs. Baltimore John Beck vs. Carolina I am thinking McCoy has the best matchup and numbers YTD but Painter could put up a lot of yards playing from behind against a high powered NO offense and Beck gets his first start against a Carolina team that likes to move the ball as well. What are your opinions?
  6. Well I guess that is the most noticeable difference. They have some sort of more elastic piece of fabric around the sleeve but it is not much different than the other fabric so it doesn't taper as well as the actual authentic. Overall though, for the price. I am more than satisfied.
  7. I just received my jerseys that I ordered on DHGate. I ordered on 9/17 so it was a little over two weeks to receive them. I ordered from a seller names jiangwallace. They were the cheapest ones that you can buy for one piece ($28.32) with free shipping. They look exact and have all of the official (looking) Reebok On-Field tags. I can't see any problems with these compared to the actual authetics. I just thought I would pass along in the event anyone was considering it. I got a white Marcel Dareus and a Blue Stevie Johnson.
  8. What I was trying to say was that the general public will look at those numbers and jump all over the the over. At one of my gambling sites, 98% of the plays are on the over currently. They are not pulling in 50/50 with that line. They want people to bet the over, or so it seems to me. For example, the over/under in the Hosuton-New Orleans game is 53, higher than our line while they are averaging a combined 60.5 PPG, are #5 and #14 in total offense, and have only one game between the two of them giving up over 13 points which was a shootout in GB.
  9. When it looks too good to be true...... There has to be a reason Vegas is setting this line so low. Look at the numbers. Buffalo averages 39.5 PPG through 2 games, New England 36.5 (76 total) Buffalo allows 21 PPG and New England 22.5 both against offenses that were hurting and inferior New England is #1 in the NFL in passing yards, Bills are #7 Bills are #1 in the NFL in rushing yard, New England is #15 New England is in the bottom half of the league in rush yards allowed (going against #1 rushing team) Bills are middle of the pack in pass yards allowed (going against #1 passing team) This screams too good to be true...
  10. Just reading this guys posts makes me cringe. He's the type of guy you punch in the face and ask questions later. No value in adding to this by verbally sparring with him..
  11. Sweet. Let's hope after tonight the Raiders are #18 or higher. Then we're sure to win......right? Glad to see some sort of recognition for our showing I guess.
  12. You're on a message board commenting on the same said player. I was just giving a link for those interested in people who probably have a better general idea than us. I like the signing. It's not huge but it's solid. Can never have enough depth. He just probably will not be starting over Davis. Just like any message board you have to weed out the good comments from the crap.
  13. Only aging and slow. While Poz couldn't cover anyone, he has some quickness.
  14. Better than Torbor but this thread tells you a lot abotu him... http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=11077380
  15. Lose Poz/Whitner, gain Barnett/B. Smith. Thus no compensation. We may get a token 7th rounder for McCargo/Youbouty/etc.
  16. Saw a few people saying that he is "only" 30. He turns 32 on August 27th. Not a big deal but a 32 year old injured football player is a little bit more of a risk than a 30 year old injured football player.
  17. Why is everyone on Bettis to the Hall? I believe he belongs in the Hall of Good or Hall of Average. He has a few terrible years and was lucky to latch on with Pittsburgh but really wasn't a difference maker by himself or at the position comparatively. He was great at certain things but not an overall "all time great" player in my opinion.
  18. He restructured his contract with Miami for less money instead of being cut. They have since moved him to guard where he is expected to stay and start.
  19. Was wondering the same thing. He looks almost as big as Jasper at camp. The scary part is the way he moves.
  20. In the drill last night where the DT rotated with one holding the pad and the other practicing coming off the ball and hitting said pad, Jasper was consistently driving people backwards. One hit on Heard, he pushed him back a good ten yards on the initial hit. I heard he pancaked someone else but I did not see that one myself. He also held up on the "blocking" portion better than any of the other DT. He is a powerful, huge man. He was also on the return team blocking quite a bit. He looks like he belongs but probably has a long ways to go to contribute.
  21. I was sitting right in front of the outside linebackers at camp last night. I was impressed with Maybin's hustle out there compared to previous years. He did look like a WR though. I have seriously never seen a grown many with as small of a waist line as him, let alone an NFL linebacker.
  22. Tonight at camp, Dareus and Williams were switching back and forth almost everty other play between being the "NT" and the left "DE".
  23. They are saying Kaepernick will be the 4th quarterback off the board and some have him as high as #10. He won't be there in the 3rd, let along in the second for us.
  24. Disagree on the coaching front. If you work a few camps and do what you're supposed to you could probably even get something higher but surely a DIII gig. You are completely right that this would not "make a living" but could be a start. I think the idea behind this would be for the kids who cant cut it in class anyways. The Adrew Lucks and Ryan Fitzpatricks would not be going to this school.
  25. I've been a sports nut my whole life and from like age 10-15 I would write up imaginary business plans with this same basic idea for Western New York University so Rochester could have adivision 1 team. Pick up guys cut or kicked off the big schools for grades or minor infractions (no big stuff), hire a huge coach and go to town with a program focused on pro sports, sports management, broadcasting, etc.. I'd update the plan a few times a year based on who was released from scholarship and what coaches became available as well as any finacial updated. Yeah, I know I'm a loser
