  1. Lovie Smith has had a top 5 defense for almost his entire tenure in Chicago with many years of being #1 overall (depending on what stat you are looking at). I don't care what he runs if he gets results. Top defense throughout his tenure, 17 games over .500 record. Never heard a negative thing about the guy. 10-6 this year with absolutely no offensive line. Acknowledged offensive shortcoming and tried four coordinators during his tenure to fix it. Why would there be any hate?
  2. Official Bills text. Chan is gone. Come on Lovie with a strong OC.
  3. Right, he would need to clear waivers. From what I saw in the Cali papers, it looks like he'd be owed next to nothing this year, around 4 million next year, 6 million in 2014 and 2.3 million or so in 2015. Someone would have to pick up that contract off waivers or he becomes a free agent. I'd almost take a chance as a $4 million linebacker is a borderline starer on many teams.
  4. Reports (and his own Facebook posts) say that Rolando McClain will be released by the Raiders this week. He had a ton of talent and upside at one point (#8 pick in the draft) and heard that he did not fit well with Dennis Allen from a friend in Oakland but has a short history of underperforming and shooting guns during fights. He did have 99 tackles and 5 sacks last year and is only 23 years old. With the state of our linebackers, what do we think?
  5. Brooks was activated when Rhinehart when to IR, so two spots open still.
  6. Looking forward to more details. I do not post a ton but have been on this site daily for quite a while. I wilkl be at the opener in Hammer's lot so I may swing by. First year of season tickets.
  7. Greg Jones, LB, from the Giants seems like an interesting pickup. Started 5 games for them last year as a rookie at MLB. Special teams contributor. Young guy who was rated rfairly highly in the draft but his height made him fall a bit.
  8. I was wondering why he wasn't in the game last night until the late third quarter.
  9. Yes, but it is camp. You need "camp fodder" just to give the other guys a break every now and then. Seems like a move is coming. I don't expect anything big but pobably bringing in a young guy at another position that may be needed more.
  10. Bringing someone in? Seems a weird time for a cut unless Buddy saw a need to address.
  11. I know this a bit of a cop-put answer....but use Priceline. You'll get a decent hotel, usually at a great price. We went down last year for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I wasn't particularly impressed with the city or the waterfront but it certainly isn't any worse than WNY. We also had the kids so I didn't check out any nightlife. The kids loved the zoo and the stadium was impressive.
  12. I would love Sanu on the Bills. Doubt he falls to the 3rd but maybe trade back into the 2nd for him?
  13. Doesn't really fit our defense at all but good value I guess
  14. sounds that he absolutely loves gilmore, so i guess thats the 1st rd pick. and though it sound like a jauronism it was buddy who said that you cant have too many corners Why do people keep saying this? Everyone loves Gilmore. Most mocks have him going before us now. Why is everyone assuming he will be there at 10?
  15. I bought two Rockpile seasons in early March and was told at that time they only had a handful of seats left in that section and I got one of the last pairs together.
  16. What has suddenly happened that everyone is forecasting Adams to us in the 2nd? From verything I have read, he won't last past Pittsburgh in the 1st as they are completely in love with him but most don't think he will last that long.
  17. Put $5 on the Bills to win the Superbowl a couple months ago when it was at 100-1.
  18. Nix said emphatically on WGR that they have NOT contacted Martio Manningham. Didn't sound at all interested.
  19. The Eagles "won free agency" last year and look what it got them.
  20. I am not sure on the NFL "rules" on this but I know most leagues and I am assuming the NFL have to approved all contracts. Something along the lines of team signs player, contract goes to league office for approval, once league approved player is officially signed. It generally isn't an issue as teams generally follow the "rules". If this is the case, it's pretty hilarious that they would have approved these contracts and then punished them later for being shady.
  21. Quick look at a few sites and the two possibilities with this that I see/like are: Whitney Mercilus/Mike Adams Malcolm Floyd/Nick Perry I think I like the first more, thoughts?
  22. I personally have no knowledge of him at all but I am a Golden State Warriors fan (sucker for losing I guess) and all the Raider folk on their message board could not be happier about getting rid of him. The consensous was that he was getting burned regularly on deep routes which lead to the league higest number of TDs given up and penalties. Basically, he had one good year with the top corner in the league across from him, was rewarded for it, and then they realized that he was terrible and way overpaid. Like I said, I have no personal knowledge, just relaying the consesous from some Raider fans in Oakland.
  23. The Jets could easily be 9-7 with a loss to us. Giants are tough and Philly has the potential to beat anyone on a good day. New York Jets 5-4 9-7 @Denver W Buffalo L @Washington W Kansas City W @Philly L NY Giants L @Miami W Assuming Balt/Pitt get the first wildcard, and this scenario plays out above, Cincy will be our toughest competion since they hold the first tiebreaker over us and have a pretty cake schedule outside of their division. I see them 10-6 unless somehow Houston's ground game can win that one for them: Cincinnati 6-3 10-6 Pittsburgh L @Baltimore L Cleveland W Houston W @ St. Louis W Arizona W Baltimore L Assuming Balt/Pitt get one wildcard, and Cincy finishes 10-6, we would have to get to 11 wins to make the playoffs. I can see 10-6 for us as a possibility, 11 wins.....not so much: Buffalo 5-4 10-6 @ Miami W @ NYJets W Tennesee W @San Diego L Miami W Denver W @New England L The other team in the wildcard talk at this point is Tennesee, I see them finishing at 9-7, possibly 8-8 if Tampa or Houston show up: Tennesee 5-4 9-7 @ Atlanta L Tampa Bay W @Buffalo L New Orleans L @Indy W Jacksonville W @Houston W So it looks like we are Houston fans (they impact us with Tennesee and Cincy). If this plays out, we have to hope the Pats rest up their starts in Week 17 because I doubt we pull off the cross country win in SD.
  24. I would say Rayner has the better leg on kickoffs but the stats are not that far off. Also, Buffalo rarely tries to drill it through the endzone instead opting for the high directional kick. Rayner: Career: 18 touchbacks in 241 kicks for 7.47% 2010 in 8 games with Detroit: 2 touchbacks on 34 kicks for 5.88% 2006 last full season with Green Bay: 11/72 for 15.27% Graham: Career: 48 touchbacks in 629 kicks for 7.63% 2010 in 8 games with New England: 2 touchbacks on 57 kicks for 3.51% 2009 last full season: 8/69 for 11.59% I am really not on a Shayne Graham crusade but more just making a point about these random kicker workouts instead of looking at a body of work around the league. I do, however, have a feeling we will all be missing Lindell.
  25. That would seem to be a very small sample size to go off for a kicker. Lookng at our next three games (all on the road) and the last three years for each kicker, here are the stats for each: Rayner: @Dallas in 2010 1-1 @Miami in 2010 2-2 Graham: @Dallas 2008 3-3
