debating measures, vaccine mandates, that makes sense. but to call covid a common cold is just wrong and kind of a jerky dismissive move. having almost lost my father to COVID (2 mos icu, 8 mos total hospital stay) i can tell you it is most certainly not a common cold. debate how we deal with COVID, thats fine, but stop lying about what COVID is and can do to the human body.

how much less could you care?

Oh i see very little positive in the MLB situation, only that given where we are at i'm glad we have a relatively competent defensive mind to help mask that weakness. But this thread is about mcd being dc and hc. I already listed some positives i can think of. Andysplaylist has another thought which is interesting. There must be a reason why some very good head coaches have done the same (or in reid's case hc and oc but you get the idea). They won the superbowl multiple times doing so, if being hc and dc/oc was so full of negatives it likely wouldn't have worked out that way.
-
obviously. but there are positives that haven't been discussed much or at all. i'm interested in discussing those. whether it's net positive we shall see.

lots of negatives posted so far. fair enough. but we should also consider the positives of the dual role. for one thing, when McD is making decisions be they head coach decisions or DC decisions, being in the dual role can help him make better decisions. for example. a decision to go for it on 4th and 7 may be complimented by his knowledge of which plays he has in mind for the defense should the attempt fail. he may not need to call one of his famous "see what the offense is doing" time outs having complete knowledge of the current playcall on defense. defensive playcalls might be made with more "total game" context in mind. i'm sure there are more ways being both DC and HC is complimentary rather than burdensome.

When did Steve Tasker become such a homer?

to answer your question, likely some time in the early 90s. -

If i had to choose, i would definitely be against white collar cheating more than welfare cheating. But my post wasn't about me, it was about the reality for others who the song is speaking to. -

he may have overshared but you still really don't know much about him. not enough to draw much of a conclusion about how his life brought him to write this song. it seems to me he is genuine at least. the sentiment resonates. plenty of people feel the same way about welfare - that there are cheaters. it's actually a rather basic, obvious view. there isn't much to dissect. -

it's a good song and it's performed well. seems genuine and that goes a long way. the message resonates with most people to be sure. leave it to the media/politik to turn it into right vs left when it's really regular people vs so called elites. that's what they do, it's worked for millennia, big surprise. -
must interrupt this riveting back and forth to address something of the upmost importance... it's Xanadu, not Zanidoo. ...ok back to your regularly scheduled partisan-fest.

I always thought diggs was upset at how the whole team just kind of "gave up" vs cincy. maybe they had no try left, but he did. how awful would that feel?

Bills players were done with this year
dickleyjones replied to Billzgobowlin's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with your take, although i think it really came down to Hamlin. It's not anyone's fault that it happened the way it did, but it was clear that that moment was highly disturbing to the players. All they wanted was for their friend to survive, football be damned. Then they went into "win for Hamlin" mode which worked for a while but as you said, is mentally exhausting. Having Hamlin at the game the way they showed him on tv was weird as well. At the same time you can't ask the players to forget and play as if it never happened. And the same love that fans and media poured out only increased the pressure, good intentions notwithstanding. It would never have been enough to win the sb. You have to be at your best to win and the Bills clearly were not at their best. Allen needed to be processing the field at maximum ability. We have seen him do it. Sadly these playoffs were an aberration in that regard.
