  1. Do you really believe the "fix" was on? I know more murchandise sells if Pitt wins, but why not make sure the Giants, Cowboys or Bears get to the dance...or are you thinking that perhaps they let them play fair until the Superbowl, then the NFL, or perhaps some rogue referee faction gathers in some shady diner across the river in Windsor under cover of darkeness to conspire to sell more murchandise? I love a good conspiracy, but that's thin. It was a $hitty game that is the realization of everything wrong with the NFL today. The game is not longer a sporting event, merely an event that America turns to - second inly to Americans to the 4th of July now. I have to agree with the Dragon, the NCAA brand of football surpasses the watered down product that is forced down our throats. We as a naiton are now more enamored with the commercial that the game itself. It is what the NFL designed, but a sjame to true fans everywhere. At a primal level - it bothers me that someone who does not know HInes Ward from Ward Cleaver will spend their time watching the game to be a part of it and talk commercials the next day. Anyway - I'll keep watching, but no longer really look forward to it like I used to...
  2. Actually the NFl TV contracts pay for most of the teams operating expenses. Ther eis no or cap on coaching hires, so if you don't mind spending a little more - why not? He knows Gibbs is gone - he has the structure in place to move on a not miss a beat after next year. I think he's wisely posiitoning that frnachise for a long run - if only they can get a QB....
  3. Word is he is gone - They like the kid from Wisconson and could get him in the first round. The thoughts I am hearing is that they could not win with him there, why not sink exra cash in other areas and go with a younger back that could be 80% of him...
  4. The Bills annouce a trade - Buffalo trades the 8th selection overall and Nate Clements to the SD Chargers for the 1st pick in the 2006 draft (#19), their seconrd round pick in the 2006 draft and a conditional pick in the 2007 Entry draft. With the 8th pick, the SD chargers select Eric Winston At the 19th spotm the Buffalo Bills select Chad Greenway - LD Iowa.
  5. I think this is a solid realistic approach if you can get the guys needed. I really like LaCharles, but think they may tag him in NO. AWholeheartedly agree with moving down if a suiter approaches us - we have too many needs as it stands. Only think I would add - if thee is a quality QB that falls to us in the 3rd, I would consider the investment - kind of like what Atlanta did with Shaubb...
  6. I really think you go into the year with JP, Kelly Holcolm and a rookie QB you draft this year....If JP is not the guy, I would seriously approach SD about Rivers or Brees and Atlanta about Matt Shaub...
  7. That's great - the three backs pictured are all form the "U"....God I love gangsta U...
  8. Does it really matter that much? Was talking to the Red Dragon last night and it was agreed, they're all **** choices on paper - it will start to matter when the player decisions happen in FA and the Draft. Is the choice of DJ really going to define your choice of buying season tickets? The only thing i think it does is to ensure that we have a boring post game press conference and more quotes from Levy as Jouron is unquoatable. I think everyone will agree - DJ was the fugal choice, saved maybe a million a year over the others. But I also think that the million extra would have gotten nothing more along the lines of coaching potential, so I can't argue with it. That said - is everyone still so angry as to pursue season tickets and "boycott" games?
  9. No - though I'll give him credit for the fury of activity...well done ot this Suprano...There's no glowing insight here, it just took me off guard when I found out who was hosting this event...
  10. I hope he goes to a high profile team like Dallas with a legit shot at the playoffs...he's put his time in and deserves it....
  11. From what I understand, Willis McGahee is hosting one of the hottest tickets in Detroit Friday night. From the people I have talked to, they were kind of surprised that it was being hosted by Willis since he is still considered somewhat obscure in the NFL "Entertainment" circles. Anyway, I thought this was amusing and would pass it aong...
  12. I also decided this today...I am keeping the $200 next year...
  13. Really - I think the best athlete works just about everywhere except QB if you have a good one....
  14. yes yes yes. Milloy and Wire should be moved. I love Darnell Bing...I also wouldn't mind a shot at Mike Huff later in the 1st round...
  15. That sums up just about anyone in the management profession...at least the good ones.
  16. Stated wrong in my post sorry. I ment OVER....I would take Roy Williams in a heartbeat...
  17. I like the line of quesitoning - well thought out. Here is seriously how I would handle it - I would sell to Gialasanno (sp?) for the lesser amount. Not the 10% of the value as in your hypothetical as this would be exhorbinent, but I would take 20-25% less than it's declared market value, (I believe roughly $700MM today). The only reason I would do this that the investment cost me $1MM when I bought it - my family will benefit greatly from the sale proceeds. It's provided me with great pride and enjoyment while I was the owner and feel that a lot of what I got out of owneship is tied to the area the team is located, (part of the identity). That said, if the offer is too far below market value, i would have to turn it down.
  18. Yes - finally a site that has Ngata where he should be. I am so tired of him being over valued because he is the best DT available. You should never reach with a top 10 pick...see choosing Mike Williams or Roy Williams or Ed reed or Dwight Freeny....
  19. Of course it could - it happens every few years and the Bills are nearing critical time with the stadium again. Factor that in with the Bills owner having the Grimm Reaper riding shotgun and you have an unstable franchise on your hands. Now that I have reaffirmed the potential.... I understand from business partners, (read the guys you read of in the Business section when they disclose how much the area's CEO's make), Tom Gailisanno (sp?) has already advised Ralphs Trust that he is interested in purchasing the team to keep it local There is a catch - he will pay what he believes a franchise in WNY is worth - not one in Los Angeles, Miami or Chicago. If the Wilsons get greedy, the team could indeed be lost....
  20. Holy **** - 9-7 already and we don't have a coach, OC or DC??? Ata-boy - get them seasons....Buffalo's got a spirit talking proud, talking proud...
  21. I'm not a Jouron guy at all - but didn't he win the Coach of the year in 2001? Looks good on a resume...
  22. Even if they someone how managed to coax the Chargers to trade Marty for our 3rd rounder, obtain LaCharles Bentley in FA and the Brick in the draft, get a Will Allen or Ricky Manning to replace Nate AND Takeo comes back at 100%, we are 6-10 at best...JP still needs about 10 good starts to get the speed of the NFL game down....
  23. I have to agree Promo - I am not much of a Haslett guy - but I think that all Bills personnel should be in Buffalo..except maybe the owner...I am not a fan of Modrak not being in town...
  24. This is a moot point, BUT - does not matter than he was all powerful in Buffalo...he was all powerful in Pittsburgh too. When a caoch has a ton of success and is a charasmatic personality - he can take you down. It happened in Pitt and it certainly could have happened in Buffalo. It's not that hard to understand. If this was not the case, then what you are saying is - Gregg Williams was the best choice??? Mike Mularky was more impressive then Cranell? Weiss? TD's forte' was a talent evaluator...I guess he lost that ability in Buffalo huh?
