At the seasons quarter mark....let's be honest...
Kipers Hair replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps - but the really great one's staffed with all pro talent have a way of playing a couple of extra games at the end of the year, where the average one's, (read last years KC, St Louis, Seattle, etc), will miss the playoffs as the reality gets back into focus. I am saying the Bills are more akin with those teams than belong with the Superbowl contenders.... -
All of the sensationalism and Bill’s fever after the first three weeks was fun, but when you look at it, I believe more of it was fueled by how we got to a 3-0 start, (exciting come from behind wins against two teams), and not the fact we were 3-0. If you go back to the midpoint of last year, the Bills could have won how many games against good playoff teams – (see loses to KC, Baltimore, New England and Pittsburgh). So we start out this year winning 2 similar type games we had lost last year and all of the sudden the national spotlight is on Buffalo that we somehow figured it out. Well guess what, we just got a couple of bounces that we did not get in those loses and ended up with the “W’s”. In yesterday’s game – we did not get the bounces and lost. I am not a “doomsayer” but really believe, come Devils Night (aka Oct 30th), this team will be sub .500 and exactly what we thought in August – headed in the right direction, but simply missing a few key ingredients to be something special over the long haul. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see the football God’s have more bounce in the Bills favor than not, but when you go into battle with talent that arguably would not start for many other NFL teams, you some up short time and again. Average or sub – McKelvin, Spiller, all receivers not named Stevie, Kelsey, Chambers, Merriman, they’ve gotten national recognition, but on the coattails of good fortune and not being special). The nice development on the offseason, the realization that Fitzpatrick belongs, Darius will be a great Pro, and the O-Line is much improved. Now don’t go crying out that I left Freddie off – if you were a Bills fan, you knew going in that he belongs n the NFL. Understand, this is not a response to the Bills lose yesterday, in fact, it would read the same had they won – Yin and Yang are just evening out from last year…

Concerned about our linebackers
Kipers Hair replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I say make one large scale change - Sheppard in for Andrae Davis and let's see what we have. Also, fold in Moats in for Kelsey or Merriman when an obvious pass play is up. I agree thought, with the exeption of Barnett, we need something to change with the LB corp.... -
You know they're saying the same thing about our recieving corps....

Kirk Morrison - Did he play against the Raiders
Kipers Hair replied to Momma Pecoraro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills freak - I was comparing Barnett's 100% of the snaps played in the game to Poz ever being able to achieve that. I don't hate Poz, but I laugh at the notion he "went to a playoff compatitor" by going to Jacksonville...I am sure the $7MM annually was just a nice to have. In two games, I think Barnett have made more of an impact than Poz did in all his time here. Morrison - eh, he was an afterthought brought in when concerns with Sheppards health happened - Barnett is the Poz replacement... Can you refer me to whom has made this comment? Though, when you consider salaries, Morrison might have been a better deal!!! (Kidding numb nuts). -
Don't be a jerk - be 100% committed to the event your at...Tivo the game....

Wonder if Poslusny ever logged 100% of the downs...and how jumping to that playoff contender is working out for him right about now... I noted the same thing and know for certain Sheppard and Morrison played on special teams during the Raider game. Looking forward to Sheppard getting on to the field more during the season - he brings the heat. -

He played - saw him aorundt he action a couple of times.... -
This is where I need to disagree - on entertainment value alone, his posts are must read....not withstanding the fact he and I generally agree on posted materials.

Anyone else notice that the silica they use to pack the artificial turf fibers in was still "popping up" when players ran over or fell on it...seems to not have fully settled yet...(Maybe this is normal though - just looked funny, like they were kicking up sand or something).

Not poking the bear here, but couldnt we apply Dunning-Kruger to the rose colored glasses wearing faction(s) of twobillsdrive as well as the tea part...err, I mean realists? Just throwing it out there - you gotta be tipping a little sideways to postulate the following: * Gailey is playing possum with Merriman targetting the Patriots game to spring his trap * The Bills will, (not might), will go 14-2 I think everyone just needs to own up to their dysfunctionality being a result of supporting and following a brainnumbingly frustrating organization based in a city that already has an overactive inferiority complex on the national stage....Heretofore coined, "Bills Syndrome"

Beginning to look like a player
Kipers Hair replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know - I gotta agree with the person who wrote give thanks to CJ - like the LB's on split assignment, everyone in my section thought it was a swing to CJ in the flat...when both LB's went that route, we won. I am not thanking CJ mind you, if there is thanks to be given, (1) to Fitz for recognizing and (2) to the coaches for creating that opportunity. CJ was sadly just a pawn. -

I will admit, last week, I was openly hard on him, mostly for being a wasted pick so high, but after last Sunday, I was wrong. I don't believe any longer that he will be a draft casualty in another two years - he definitely has a place and if we keeps progressing, (gasp), may one day next year replace Fabulous Freddie Jackson in the feature role... -
My comment of "having fun" and being the idiot was no reference to you or your demeaner, more to the symbolic "village idiot" who plays the part of the fool and thinks people are laughing with him. Anyway, as to raising the surrender flag on life, my friend statistically speaking, you couldnt be further from the truth...but we're not here for d-ck measuring are we? Just the fact that I am still a Bills fan should be evidence enough, the flag isn't going up any time soon....

Well said and a nice vintage Carrie reference well played...

I guess there are those out there who believe there is fun to be had in being the idiot. So be it.

You know hope, I am pretty sure you have seen the posts around here proclaiming the Bills will go 12-4, 11-5, etc. - which we must admit is naivity at it's best or merely a continued slow burn of the alcohol consumed a couple of days ago. The team is undoubtedly headed in the right direction, but so was the Titanic when it met up with the iceburg on that fateful evening in April of 1912. Much like the passengers of that doomed voyage, Bill's fans are marveling at the beauty of it's bandwagon at current...undoubtedly to be let down by the iceburgs on our schedule. I think all Bills fans are enjoying a fun victory and the mere fact we can watch them and not blanch with every dropback, but the fact remains, our team is too thin on All Pro level talent to challange the real teams of the NFL.

Once you got in the lot - it was fine. Don't let the media scare you...showed up a mile from the stadium at 10 or so and were parked by 10:15....but the cost sucks!

To your point - By FITSNews || Former Clemson University running back C.J. Spiller won’t be designing rocket launchers for whatever NFL team selects him in next month’s draft – he’ll be running with (and catching) footballs. And that’s a good thing. Spiller reportedly received the lowest mark of any member of the incoming NFL “Class of 2010″ on the Wonderlic Test, an aptitude assessment used to measure a prospect’s problem-solving abilities. Spiller received 10 out of a possible 50 points on the exam – or twenty points below Stanford running back Toby Gerhardt, who paced the incoming running back class with a score of 30. Other strong Wonderlic scores? BYU’s Manase Tonga (29), LSU’s Charles Scott (26), Tennessee’s Montario Hardesty (25), Mississippi State’s Anthony Dixon (25) and North Dakota State’s Pat Paschall (25). The average NFL player scored a 20 on the exam. As bad as Spiller’s score was (10 is the minimum Wonderlic score for a subject to be designated as “literate”), it’s actually not the worst score ever. Former Texas star Vince Young reportedly scored a 6 on his first Wonderlic exam.

Disagreed - watched and enjoyed the game very much, but the "celebrate" Spiller because he was on the winning side is short sited and flys in the face of this teams need to continue to move forward. Spiller is (1) A wasted pick where he was taken (2) arguably a wasted roster spot. If he was so damn good, why would we have spent what we did to being in Brad Smith for 3rd down duty? Again, Spiller suffers from Donte Syndrome, so it's not really his fault...
-
I think you are right and I am going to coin the problem now - the "Whitner Effect" or perhaps more clinical, "Dante Syndrome". Like the much maligned Dante Whitner, he might be a fine NFL player with a 10 year career, but as long as he is in the town that drafted him too high, he'll never meet the expectations of it's fans.
-
I think anyone would agree, Buddy and Chan have done a pretty good job shaoing this roster into the team they envisioned before they signed up for thier tour of duty at One Bills Drive, however, how long do you think it will take until they cry uncle on the CJ Spiller choice? I don't get where he even fit's their M.O. of what they want their team to look like...he is simply a poor man's Reggie Bush and will never be anything more than this... Sure' he has done infinitely more than the Aaron Mayhem pick, but considernig all of the needs we had/have and the clear vision for a team they have - we missed the mark greatly taking Spiller where we did. I would argue that Chief's second round pick McCluster is more electrifying and is doing what we had expected from Spiller-time....

I did not want to reinvent the wheel, so took the thorough writings of this man and elaborated somewhat. Look, if you are fortunate enough to be able to work from home and can live anywhere, why not Buffalo? Especially if you are an outdoorsy person. Cheaper than most places and there is where your favorite team is! But be forewarned, it's not going to be all the romantic Norman Rockwell stuff people will put up on your post. Take the good with the bad...the only wicked drawback I have there include(1) If you have to fly a lot - travel is much more difficult than from a major city (too many connectors needed) and (2) There are some really miserable people that live there. I suggest you check it out in the Summer and in the Winter before deciding...

Pretty simple...his agent knows we need him....
