Then Glennon and Nassib go late first round early second and the Bills take Austin in the second. Then Wilson and Jones go late in the 2nd/ early 3rd? Which could really hapen. It'd be far better for DHB to be the 3rd or 4th option with a great QB with less money and less years or sign on with Baltimore than be stuck in a bad QB situation. (Seriously DHB would be a good fit with Torrey Smith and Flacco)

If Stevie is really moved to the slot and TJ Graham is out wide. DHB would be an upgrade over who else would be outwide? So that's a no brainer depending on the money. However I doubt DHB or any WR or TE would sign with the Bills until the QB situation is resolved. Why would DHB go from J.Russ-A.Mess-J.Camp-C.Palm and then go to T.Jax? That would be a dumb move.

They didn't save any money. They deferred it. If you had a plan you could argue taking the cap hit in a year you have very little chance to be competitive would be a better strategy than putting it off until later.

All of this is key evidence of a lack of planning by OBD. Why would a FA WR want to sign with a team that practically has zero NFL quality QBs on the roster? Look at the Stat lines of the WRs in Minn or Seattle. There wasn't a lot of passing yards to go around. Follow that to the defensive side of the Ball, with no QB the defense will be on the field a lot which leads to eventual break downs in defense and poor performance. A Defensive FA doesn't want to be a part of that mess; Pettine or no Pettine. OBD didn't really save much cap room by cutting Fitz but they certainly scared away any perspective FA. The Bills must sign a QB to compete with the rookie because TJax is not real competition.

TJax is not an NFL quality QB. So the Bills choice is Kolb, Cassel (who are both > TJax) or take 2 QBs in the 2013 draft imo. Anyone with a pulse could beat TJax in a QB competition. I say sign Kolb, Cassel, draft a second QB in the 2013 draft in that order. I do not think it would distract at all in developing a rookie QB.

Cassel>TJAX so it is a no brainer in that regard. The real question is do you still draft 2 QBs if Cassel is on the roster. One in the 1st and one in 4th. So do you want Cassel over a 4th round QB.

I understand completely and I am calm. You value having the ability to sign hypothetical FAs over re-signing actual proven performers. Excellent. None the less the Bills are not showing any type of long term or short term strategy. Hope is not a strategy. Hoping to sign hypothetical free agents is not strategy.

I do not believe there is one strategy and do not believe they are clueless if they do not follow my line of thinking. I am looking at the bigger picture and creating a sound strategy. One where you re-sign key players that will have an even greater value when your next step is obvious. You keep talking in hypetheticals. The FAs are known. The signing period is now. Who is this Top3 WR you're talking about? Who are these #2WR,TE and 2LBs? I do think you are clueless if you think the Bills are saving money so they can sign a Top3WR, #2WR, TE and 2 starting LBs in FA in 2013. Like every year the 2013 Buffalo Bills will be well under the cap and have room to spare for an extra couple Mil for one of the best guards in the league. Instead it is the same old bad Bills. Go cheap, react at the last minute, and hope and pray you strike lightning in the draft. Which is the samething as not having a strategy or a plan.

We know their cap space and we know the contract that Levitre signed with the Titans. The Bills without a doubt have room for a 6 years 50M for Levitre. Its not a matter of cap room. It is a matter that OBD believes they can find a low cost option to protect their prized rookie QB. This does not seem like a sound plan. Its called insurance, the Bills could afford more insurance in the form of a top tier guard for their rookie QB. The Bills will not have a Top Tier LG by any stretch of the imagination in 2013. That is poor planning or a complete lack of planning.

If you Let Fitz go in year where where Josh Campbell is the prize FA QB, and you have a GM that does not trade draft picks; it means you're heading to rookie QB land. It doesn't take much effort to add that together. If you're valuation of Levitre is 6.5 a year, you can easily justify $2M a year just for the added protection of your rookie QB. You have a proven guard with excellent track record. You can diminish Levitre's play all you want but the list of Guards that have started every game in the last 4 years and have the tiny number of sacks allowed not to mention run blocking do not exist. Titans paid fair to under market value for Levitre. Jack Locker and Chris Johnson are very happy with the move. You can state, you can get an easy replacement for him, However look at 2008 Buffalo Bills and before. You can speculate on these phantom possibility on signing FA however you know, I know and 1 Bills Drive better damn have known it ain't gonna happen. As more defenses look to isolate ends (hello, Aldon Smith) and penetrating tackles (what's up, Geno Atkins) on interior linemen, excellent guard play has become more important than ever. Guard play has become key in todays NFL and Tackles are obviously still important but you used to get by with two big bodies next to C now you need a dynamic player. (And you have to pay for one when you get one ;-))

1.) I doubt Manziel comes out. 2.) Purple Haze assesment is way off. But yes AJ has all of 2013 to prove he is a Top 10 NFL pick. 3.)Bridgewater looks good. Still has more to prove in 2013. Turn the corner from constant 6-10 to 2-14? Guards are more important than Tackles in today's NFL. Quick passing offenses can't take pressure up the middle. Pressure from the Edge is acceptable. Plus you can't touch a QB so the time when QBs got burried by DE on their blindside is over. They get handled with baby gloves and are brought gingerly to the ground by a defender. One Bills Drive conscientiously decided to let their starting QB, RG, and LG walk. So now you have TJax, a 3rd string QB on any NFL roster, Jason Campbell the best FA QB (well probably second best to Fitz (and that is a sad FA class)) at QB. Meaning if you draft anyone with a pulse they will win the starting QB job. At the same time as going with a rookie QB that needs to get acclimated to the speed of the NFL you let your Top10 O-Line fall apart.(really Top 3 but I don't feel like arguing that point, you can't really say the Bills O-Line in 2012 would be ranked under 10 unless you're a troll) Hopefully AJ McCarren can translate to a #1 overall pick in 2014 because we're seriously headed that way. It would be worth 100M over 3 years. 60M is a GD deal. Its basically price-leSs to have peyton Manning as your QB. If there were no salary cap he could make 100M a year. The Cap gives clubs a bargin for Manning.

The Bills cut their starting QB and only have a certified 3rd stringer on the roster. I think that "smokescreen" and rumors would be there with or without the recording.

I think on the outside in man coverage he is weak. I believe Florence can still hold down a nickle CB if McKelvin really is the outside CB(help us) Opposite Gilmore. Plus I remember Florence had plans to coach during the lockout. He might be a leadership player\coach guy. Pettine needs some vets on the field in the seconday and McDainbramage doesn't count.

Ushering specialized QBs in and out of the game. 1.) Is not a two QB system. 2.) Beyond Stupid. It works it Madden but not with human beings. A two QB system is what Louisiana Monroe uses. There are two QBs on the field at the same time and you don't know which one will pass or run or go out for a pattern. Plus they can do some neet rollout, cross field lateral than forward pass plays. BTW I actually think 10 years from now a two QB system may actually work in the NFL. It is nuts but gets your mobile QB and your less mobile QB on the field at the same time.
