Andre Reed Elected into the Pro Football HOF
1B4IDie replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just being good for a period of time is not HoF worthy. You need to win (a Championship) AND be dominant to get in. The point of playing in the NFL is to win a SuperBowl. The Hall of Fame should be reserved for the most dominant players that had a truly exceptional career and won a championship. It is OK to add a few players that did not win championships. Bruce Smith's sack total out of 3-4 DE is unheard of, and eclipses Reggie White's dominance in a 4-3 where he was expected to rush the passer. That is truly exceptional and he did play in 4 Super Bowls. Andre Reed was an important player on 4 Super Bowl losing teams. If Andre Reed catches a Super Winning TD in XXV, he is already in as a first ballot Hall of Famer. It is real simple this is the Hall of Fame. It should be reserved for the players that completed the ultimate goal of winning a championship and had a dominant career. The Hall of Fame shouldn't be for people that were simply very good at playing football. -

No **** Sherlock. -
1/5 of anything is very important. How does saying 1/5 ignore anything? You have 5 appendages sticking out of your torso. Are you saying you ignore your 5th appendage?

No one is making a case for any Gints or Deadskins. What is the point of the HoF? In my opinion it should be the best players that won championships. Not any player that won a championship. Then a few exceptions for purely dominant players that did not win a championship. I would kick out about 60% of the current HoFers. i.e. Bruce Smith would be in, Thurman would be in the "Andre Reed Perennial finalist list" Jim Kelly would not be in, and Andre Reed would never be nominated. Just being good for a period of time is not HoF worthy. You need to win to get in AND be dominant. -
I am definitely watching Hard Knocks Deadskins. Dan Snyder would jump into every single camera shot. He would hire people to wear an identical prosthetic mask and have them follow each camera crew just so his likeness would be somewhere in every shot. Plus we can get some good Native American protests going. Come on HBO!

Hue Jackson was de facto GM and was (dis)credited with trading a 1st and second for Carson Palmer. Bengals "We want a first for Palmer (we're playing hard ball, hell, we'll take a 7th and some training room sterilizer.)" Hue Jackson "How about a first and a second?" Bengals "Thanks. I'll draft Dre Kirkpatrick and Gio Bernard." He might have had his team ready to play but he hurt the organization's ability to improve on that trade. They couldn't keep him. Now it comes full circle and he effectively traded himself Bernard.

The point of playing is to win the Super Bowl. I think that Super Bowls is a great measurement for HoF. That being said. They've led Andre along enough. This should be the year. It's just getting cruel having him on the ballot. -
Smart move there is not a lot of quality RBs in the 2014 draft. or his just ego trippin' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsCLJ2F0KPQ

That's so strange College football is a complete amateur endeveur it's definitely not a semi-pro minor league to the NFL.

Would the Bills trade up to get Watkins?
1B4IDie replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He caught the winning pass in the BCS title game. So its going to be hard to top that in 2014. The positive is Winston will be there so unless Benjamin gets injured he likely will only improve his draft stock. Being the Big Man (literally) on campus at Florida State for a whole year when your only concern is, take easy courses that you stay academically eligible and don't get into serious trouble is a once in a lifetime opportunity that cannot be replaced. The money will be there for him. But they always say if you have a first round grade and are draft eligible then declare. However this may be a special case. He is 24 by the 2014 draft so he may not want his age to then become a negative in the 2015 draft. If he comes out it would be great for the Bills. -
When they say its "1/3/ of the game" Generally the intention is to maximize the importance of Special Teams. Meaning that Special Teams is just as important as offense and Defense. It is important but it is not equally important. I think a 1/5 of the game better crystallizes its place in the game.
-
Nice Break down!!! Keep the Touchbacks in because you know, the teams actually have to line up and do it. That give you Just over 2/5th, Just Over 2/5th and under 1/5th. So I'm going to stick with Special Teams being 1/5th of the game. I like it.
-
I agree and I hate that phrase. If you want to break it down mathematically if say it's 1/5 of the game. Offense is 2/5ths, Defense is 2/5th and special teams is 1/5.

My point during the losers of the world "lose now to get a better pick" strategy is that in 2014 the #6 prospect is just as good as #40 prospect. Not a lot of franchise changers but a lot of really good players. Btw if the Bills lost to the Dolphins they would still draft #9.

We took Aaron Williams over Andy Dalton

I for one consistently forget that it is a "tram" sport. -

Marvin Lewis deserves a lot of credit for putting that roster together and getting the most of those players. Other than Geno Atkins and AJ Green its not like the roster is loaded with 5 Star recruits and all world players up and down the roster. I mean can you give him some credit for Burfict? I don't think Burfict is an all pro wrecking ball with any other coaching team. The Problem is there are less than 12 human beings on the planet that can consistently play QB at the level required to go deep into the playoffs and win a Super Bowl and the Bengals don't have one of those human beings. -
This is a really good point. You're a lot smarter than you look. Not that I want Manziel but a Manziel with one more year/Hundley/Winston QB class would 1.)Give the Bills options if they want to take a swing in 2015. The logic being if EJ blows chunks in 2014 we'll be in the Top 10 again. 2.) Increase the trade value of a Top 10 pick if the Bills still want to stick with EJ.

A boy can dream . . . -
I posted this in one of the many other Fire Crossman threads: Mike Priefer: He has spent 20 years as a college and pro special teams coach, including the past three seasons with the Vikings. Priefer, 47, flew Navy helicopters for six years and has an intense, no-nonsense approach that could appeal to teams wanting to instill discipline. http://www.usatoday....ikings/4256653/ Do we know a team that needs to be much more disciplined on kick coverage?
-
Damn. I saw the word "Crossman"' and thought. Awesome they got rid of him. Then I had to reread "Retained" a few times. I thought ""Retained" is not a term for **** canned, infact in means the opposite." Yikes! This is a major screw up by Morrone. Zero. Carpenter is a professional FG kicker.

Yeah Dalton needs to lay low the next few weeks. The Who Dey Fans have lost their minds. They want to use his head for a big orange kickball right now. The sentiment is that they are a Super Bowl Team with an upgraded QB, aren't we all? -

Damn I'm freaking awesome. How do I get a Front Office job in the NFL do they put GM jobs on Mobster.com? And can this please still happen. It's not too late. Although after this game we may not be seeing Dalton too much except when holding a clipboard. -
Bills need to poop or get off the pot.

Again, Whaley already pooped. The poop is named EJ Manuel. Have you heard of him before?
