The good news is. I'm pretty sure the Bills expected to have Pettine for 2-3 years before he left as a HC. At least that was an obvious contingency so if they were smart they were working to develope someone to understand that attacking strategy that will stay on the team.

He is 47. He actually is guaranteed to get another shot at HC. There are 6 openings on average every year. He must think he is the smartest Man in the room since the rest of the candidates seem to have bowed out.

Its clearly not ridiculous to think that firing your Head Coach after one year and then desperately searching for anyone willing to take the gig is a bad idea. Just ask any of the Browns players. Yes they have Talent but the FO is a mess. It is actually reasonable to stay away from this HC position just asked all the candidates that refuse to interview or bowed out of the "competition".

If you don't understand at this point in time you never will. Pettine will have opportunities to interview for HC next year but if he looks like a desperate puppy with no pride willing to take **** from a screwed up organization his value as a HC and leader goes down.
