Report: Bills express interest in Kenny Britt

Noooo! I picked Britt up in the season ending waiver wire in my Dynasty League. I vote Carolina or Deadskins -
Which Bills could switch sides of the ball?

Now that would be a Pro Bowl I would watch. Make the offense play defense and the defense play offense. -
Taylor Lewan Charged With Assault?
1B4IDie replied to BIllsNation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They're not the only team. I think the NFL encourages teams to post this information to keep traffic up all year long. The Ravens, Giants and 9ers all have Ebron stuff all over their site. The one thing that is consistent though since Buddy Nix the Bills 1st round pick has visited One Bills Drive. So watch that visit list closely. Aw crap this is the Lewan thread, I can't delete this post. Let me out of here. -
I was with you on Jeffery. The Mystery is Tori Gurley I thought he would be a late round, UDFA steal that could develop. He should have stayed in college another year. Maybe he'll eventually get a crack like our friend Da'Rick. The problem is that Evans may need that two year incubator time and Bills fans will be calling him a bust before he contributes in the second half of 2015. I like that and agree with Evans you're drafting a chance at Greatness. With Ebron your drafting a chance and goodness. He is not the next Jimmy Graham.

Awesome Crusade Bro!

Or is it possible that certain people are giving too much weight to the opinion of bloggers like Steel34D that wrote articles months ago. Everyone expected Evans combine 40 to be around 4.6 prior to the combine. When Evans ran an official 4.53 and unofficial 4.47 it shed a new light on his film. Maybe he is actually fast and just runs effortlessly thats why he doesn't look fast on film when he is blowing past his defenders. It never looks like he is running that hard but somehow he gets open. Steel34D may have changed his tune since then and added speed to his description. "He often pushes off on his defender and gains a big advantage with offensive pass interference." Then he certainly is NFL ready in that regard. Since, if you haven't noticed the top notch WRs have no problem pushing their defenders away. I'm not sure if "NoseBleedNotebook" is writing in a different language and then that is being poorly translated to English but I think NoseBleed is saying that "if Evans performers poorly then he will be labeled a bust". Well, thats a shocker!!! Run!!! Run!!! Also I'm not sure if being bigger than your defenders inflates your stats. I think that is just a physical advantage that allows you to catch the ball easier. So its a strange twist of logic to hold Evans size against him. That is like saying an elite the Tackle prospect has an inflated draft status because he is so big. As Whaley says "If all things are equal then I'll take the bigger guy." Its an advantage. Most people don't like Evans solely because of his size. People that didn't watch Evans play on Saturdays believe that people that like Evans like him solely because of his size. People that watched Evans on Saturday saw a big, fast, WR with good hands that was the primary receiving option. He was productive in a conference with many of the best defenders and coaches in the country; they couldn't stop him. That's why people like Evans, he was an ultra productive WR that has the size and strength that translates well to the NFL. Not just simply because Evans is 6'5", that would be foolish.

Byrd = $12.3 M cash, our 5 new FA signings = $17.775 M cash

When did Training camp and Pre Season become voluntary? I don't have a dog in this fight but let's not pretend Byrd didn't play games until October. -
Nice post. Excellent work. This is more like it. Now I agree on film I struggled to tell if Evans was actually big and fast or is he playing against little slow DBs. He runs effortlessly but on film he beats his coverage and doesn't look like he is moving fast. That's where the combine numbers help out and put the film into context in my opinion. He is 6'5" 231 and runs 5.53 40 with 37" vertical. He caught almost 2500 yards in two years. Btw he is only 20 years old. If you don't think it's special you're welcome to that opinion. I for one don't see WR prospects with this much potential and track record that often. I believe NFL GMs are going to be coveting this guy on draft day.

Jace actually beat Ebron in some of the underwear Olympics events. So I don't think he is a poor man's Ebron. Amaro is actually a pretty athletic dude himself. He just doesn't have the top gear that Ebron has. Another reason when you look at Ebron, ASJ, Amaro, Niklaus I just don't see Ebron as head shoulders better. Ebron is faster and has good hands. Ebron body catches a lot. Ebron doesn't have a Graham ceiling IMO he reminds me of a slightly smaller Jermaine Gresham. Which is a good thing. Just not a #9 overall good thing. Amaro may end up being the more productive NFL receiver, a 100 catch chain mover like Witten or Clark. Either way the TEs in the 2014 NFL draft are extremely deep and the Bills need to grab one, maybe two.

Um … he did that in 2013. Parker was under orders to find a trading partner. -

So you're saying the goal of the Bills is to win less games? Hmm, the comp pick is straight numbers game? I thought there was some type of judgment on quality. Interesting information. -

Actually the Bills likely would get more through a Compensatory pick, so I'd think Whaley would be targeting for a 3rd or higher. If they trade him for a 7th they don't get the comp pick. In my Mind I do not understand how the Bills were not able to get a 3rd or higher for Byrd at some time in the last 2 years but what is done is done. I don't respond to your posts because I find strawman arguments tedious. You are master debater with yourself. -
I think A S-J not being cleared for the Combine has hurt his draft stock, and I like a good deal. If ASJ is there in the 2nd you take him. Evans/ASJ is a bonerville draft scenario. I also think Jace Amaro is going to be a solid Pro, not a game dominator but a dependable chain mover. Yeah I agree if you can get the trade back in 2014 you take. I think given the depth in the 2014 draft prospects its going to be hard to find a trade partner but if you get the call you go for it and pick up some extra Top 50 picks. The question is, is Ebron, Benjamin (who I think will be gone in the 1st) and Kouandjio > Evans/ASJ? Its hard to argue against the trade down.

I agree with you, the Bills unequivocally got worse at Safety. I'm sure someone will take up the counter argument but really there isn't much to back any claim that the Bills improved at Safety. The question would be is a 3 Time Pro Bowl Safety that had 22 Interceptions in 4 years a major contributing factor to improving the number of wins by the Buffalo Bills. Thats what we really want, more wins. Having an all world Free Safety didn't seem to have a direct impact on wins and loses in the last 4 years. Is the drop off to a pedestrian, off the street Free Safety going to cause the Bills to lose more games? I don't know. I personally would prefer not to find out and keep Byrd on the roster. However since we have to lie in the bed that the Bills FO made, I suspect that the 2014 Wins and Losses total won't take a hit with the loss of Byrd. -

Completely Agree with your analysis of the New Orleans contract. Byrd gets a new contract with more Guaranteed Money as early as 2017 and that is probably in his best financial interest and worst case the Saints are on the hook to give him some huge game checks in his early 30s. -
Dude? This is the fight you want to fight? That Evans looks like Hardy. Good luck with that.

I edited my post to include the links to Warrow and Graham's reporting. The point being that Byrd's "6 Year" contract is actually a "4 year" contract with 2 years thrown in to spread the cap hit. The Saints will not be paying a 30+ year old Free Safety a 9 Million base salary in 2018. Not gonna happen. He will be re-negotiated or cut before that happens. So it all comes down to the missing guaranteed number in the Bills contract offer but it seems like that offer is buried next to Jimmy Hoffa. -
It is not his opinion, its Dope's opinion that has oozed into the Buffalo Bills fan psyche; rehashed and regurgitated. And I think Dope doesn't even rehash it himself anymore. Anyone that actually watched Evans and Hardy play college football would never actually come to that conclusion.

No one has reported that the Bills offered Byrd a 3 year contract. Warrow reported that the Bills contract offer gave Byrd 30Million over the first 3 years of the contract. No mention of how much was guaranteed. So if this is true Byrd would make more money with the Bills over the First 3 years (which I think you can assume he would play through. Obviously he can have a catastrophic injury and thats where the guaranteed money comes in. ) http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2014/03/10/ap-source-s-byrd-drawing-pre-free-agency-interest/6259569/ Tim Graham stated that Byrd's contract over the entire tenure of the contract averaged 7.5M a year. Time Graham did not mention the first two years. https://twitter.com/...264782473224192 These are the two pieces of information that have been reported about Byrd's contract. There are 4 possibilities. 1.) Both Graham and Warrow are correct. Which would mean that the Bills offered 3 Years 30 Million for the first 3 years then the last 3 years would equal 15 million total, averaging 7.5M a year. Knowing that the bar was set with Eric Berry's 6 year 60 Million contract in 2010, a 6 year 45 Million offe would basically be a completely, insulting non-offer that Byrd would never consider. 2.) Warrow's sources are correct and Graham's sources are incorrect meaning the last 3 year's of the contract that the Bills offered is more than 15 Million. Which would make the contract more competitive and possibly pay Byrd more than the NO contract. 3.) Warrow's sources are incorrect and Graham's sources are correct meaning that the Bills offered significantly less than 30 Million over the first three years. Again, reaching the same 6 year 45 million offer that would basically be a completely, insulting non-offer that Byrd would never consider. 4.) All of their sources are full of it and we have no idea what the Bills offered. Personally I trust Warrow's reporting more than Graham's and I'm in camp #2. However it appears that a majority of Bills fans are in camp #1 or #3. Most likely we are all in camp #4 and don't know it. -
Have you seen the 2015 FA WR group?
1B4IDie replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is interesting, is the tag number for RBs has got to be on the decline. I like Spiller but I really don't see him as a critical piece to the offense. Not that he is easily replaceable for the same exact level of play but RBs are a dime a dozen these days. You can get great production from a retread. Spiller's fast is still faster than everybody else's fast so he deserves a nice contract just not an Adrian Peterson type of contract. It'll be interesting to see how this play outs but I wouldn't cry if Spiller left. However Dareus is a physical freak of nature that needs to get locked up this offseason. That would be a huge loss if Dareus walked. He has played in a 3-4, 4-3, Nickel, Dime, blocked FGs on Special Teams. It doesn't matter what you play he'll be out there causing problems for opposing offenses' O-Line. If he hit the open market the sky is limit on the contract he could get. You need to let Dareus' agent know that Dareus will be a Bill in his next contract whether through an extension or the Franchise tag. The Bills need to make that extension ASAP. Extending Dareus would be a great PR announcement in the wake of Byrd choosing to leave the Bills competitive offer on the table and leave town. -
I get the feeling you'll be on a lot of people's ignore list. Hopefully that was just a piss poor start to a great posting career. Try to uplevel the conversation not drag it down to asinine, uninformed, BS sound clips that you heard from a silly blowhard on the radio months ago. Welcome aboard.

Not to mention in reality it looks like the Bills would have paid him more in the first 3 years and guaranteed money was likely in the mid 20s. It just looks like Byrd wanted to go. -

The Bills did not decide should I sign Byrd or a bunch if FAs. The Bills have enough cap room to sign Byrd AND a bunch of free agents. What does comparing the two numbers get you?
