Spotrac Contract Forecast: CJ Spiller
1B4IDie replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills could afford to double that and still be in a good shape. If Spiller gets an agent that understands the reality of the RB position in 2015 and the Dougs want to keep him they should be able to get a deal done. If Spiller wants out he can get out. To play Devil's advocate, except when FJax went down, Spiller never got the chance to be the man (mostly because FJAx is one of the greatest RBs in the game; the Rodney Dangerfield of RBs.) Spiller may just want to start fresh where he has a chance to be the man. In 2015 that isn't a reality everyone has RBBC that doesn't mean Spiller doesn't want to try. -
Joe B.: 5 Bills that could be in danger of being cut

Craig Urbik will not be released. He is on the list to get more clicks and comments. The Rest should have their agent working the phones and find a back up plan. -

Bortles/Manziel targets of bizarre lawsuits
1B4IDie replied to Campy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is a silly comparison. EJ Manuel is a choir boy. He earned not one but two undergrad degrees, was never in trouble, and is already looked at as a mentor to college prospects line Tajh Boyd. It would be out if character for photos like these to pop up of EJ Manuel. It would actually be a bigger deal IMO. These pictures are exactly what is in Johnny Football's character (or lack thereof.) This is what the Browns signed up for on draft day. The media doesn't care what Farmer or Pettine say they know Manzeil's character better than the Browns do. Taking Johnny Football was a horrible idea before draft day, during draft day, and after draft day. You have a rookie HC that isn't equipped to deal with this and Kyle Shanahan got ousted from the Deadskins because the Shanahans couldn't handle RGIII. RGIII is a boy scout compared to Johnny Football. There is almost no chance that Johnny Football is successful in the NFL and that is before the, should have been expected, Vegas pictures. -

Bortles/Manziel targets of bizarre lawsuits
1B4IDie replied to Campy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is Johnny Football. This story could have been written 1 year ago then insert the name of the franchise that drafted him. The Browns should have known what they were getting themselves into when they mistakenly drafted him. Manzeil never promised to be a choir boy and the Browns and everyone should only expect more of this not less. Johnny Football knows exactly what Johnny Football is doing. -

In summary people that want to become successful QBs in the NFL can't pop bottles in Vegas? I suspect that some successful QBs in the NFL do pop bottles in Vegas. They're just not stupid enough to do it with the plebeians that have their camera phones at the ready. 24-7 is an image that is fed to fans, no one including Peyton OCD Manning is working 24-7 to be a better QB. I don't understand how taking a vacation on Memorial Day Weekend is going to hurt Manzeil's development. People brought up the Matt Leinhert Hot Tub photos for years. I guarantee studying extra hard instead of jumping in the hot tub wouldn't have helped Leinhert any more than Johnny Manziel keeping the Champagne on ice would help him. Both of them didn't have the basic tools to be successful in the NFL and had little chance to make it happen. -

This is pretty mild compared to what 99% of this board would do if they just became Millionaires. The difference between the 1983 draft and the 2014 draft is that you didn't have a flock of TMZ reporters following Jim Kelly around in M-I-AYO on Memorial Day weekend after he signed with the Generals. (Not that Manziel is a millionth as talented as Jim Kelly) This should be what any true-blue, American 20 year old should be doing if they have the means. Have fun while it lasts, when you're a washed up Bust you won't be popping bottles like you won a championship game in vegas. -

There has been indication. That indication is the Bills gave him 3.5M signing bonus in real life. That is the indication that there was competition to sign him. There are two schools of thought to the signing bonus. 1.) OBD is smoking crack and made a huge mistake with this contract. 2.)There were multiple teams bidding on his service and the Bills needed to sweeten the deal to get him to sign. Given his past performance option 1.) seems realistic. However I choose option 2.) given the current regimes moves over the last two years. I don't think there is a lot if grey area on this. But yes to your point Chris Williams will be on the roster for the next two years but it isn't DD money that will put the Bills in a bad position in the future. -

Back to the OPs point. Seantrel Henderson is 6'8" 345 pounds and looks kinda skinny for that size. In this article you can see him and Kouandjio in 1 and 1 drills. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Seantrel-Henderson-hails-from-heralded-high-school/0aa840bf-fcae-4b80-99aa-a6dc7f9c2245 Seantrel is talking the talk right now. If he can walk the walk, work hard and stay clean there is no way the Bills can sneak him on the practive squad. The other 31 teams are lining up to pick him up off of waivers and see if they can straighten him out. The Bills get first crack at it. -

1.) Zero additional is available this year based on performance. 2.) You absolutely can front load a contract of a backup player. That's actually a smart way to sign a backup player when there is competition to sign the free agent. Throw signing bonus money at them to get in them in door but keep their annual salary low and not guaranteed. -

Thank you for thinking critically and not regurgitating the national media BS. Chris Williams got a relatively large signing bonus bonus but he is not as vast overpaid as the national media has made the contact out to look. He is either your starting LG or the first man off the bench and is paid accordingly. -

Chris Williams base salary is 1.425 in 2014. Which puts him around #45 on all the guards in the NFL. Since there is a 100% chance that the two starting guards will miss some time throughout the season that's right in line with a guy that might be your starter or your first man off the bench. The problem with Chris Williams contract is not his salary. It is his signing bonus. He got a 3.5M signing bonus which is kinda crazy but also probably means that someone else was trying to sign him too. So yes he got a crazy signing bonus but he isn't being paid like a player that can be your 6th offensive lineman, especially when the 52 man roster might a few rooks on the o-line. They basically can't cut Chris Williams so he is a lock to make the roster. I hope he can turn his career around and help push the young ones. -

Since that's exactly what a 6th man backup o-lineman costs. It seems that did. -

After seeing Jags fans in action at a game in Jacksonville. This seems about par for the course. The NFL can't move that franchise fast enough IMO. -
RD5, Pick #153: OG Cyril Richardson - Baylor University
1B4IDie replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This looked like a great pick and should push Chris Williams from Day 1. Not to mention if Henderson can get his head straight he offers much needed depth at Tackle. If you get 2/3 of Kuoandjio, Richardson and Henderson starting this draft was a huge success and that's without taking into consideration Watkins -
Biggest 1st Round Bust From 2014 Draft
1B4IDie replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you type Dareus into Google the auto fill feature lists Bust as the next word. So I don't agree but there are some impatient fans that may think that Dareus is a bust. The same point stands. Do you want your Top 10 Pick to sit around for a couple if years to develop? Dareus contributed from Day 1. He didn't put up gaudy stats but he was effective on the line from Day 1. Barr may only used sparingly as a situational rusher for a long time. If that happens some will call that pick a bust.
