It would only be worse if Marhsawn Lynch and Ko Simpson flew in and there was a Gun Show, Police Convention and a High Times Conference in town. Shouldn't Maybin be learning how to run side line to side line as a newly transitioned Line Backer? Actually on second thought he could learn how to run sideline to sideline from McNewknee. If that is the case continue on Maybin I give you credit for innovative training methods.

Why do you think Claussen is worth #9? The guy can't "develop" when he is getting paid that much as a rookie. He Maybe gets 1 year on the bench. After that some dude at SoHo will give him another blackeye as a second year scrub when he throws 3 picks against the Dolphins. I'm talking football business not Fantasy football. A lot of pressure comes with a #9 QB pick. Why do you think Claussen will be able to perform? And LeFavour is gone before the Bills pick at 3.09 for sure. I'm not saying LeFavour in the first I don't where you would get that from. I'm saying take the best tackle available. We passed on Michael Oher last year for silly reasons. How much better would we all feel if we had Oher instead of Maybin? Just take the best available LT at first. End of Story. Start the draft speculation at 2.09. -
Clausen or Bradford do not have the "throw the franchise on their back and win" look or feel. They just happen to be the best QBs in the draft this year. I don't think any analysts think they're going to be franchise changing QBs. I read a lot of Mock drafts and a lot of draft analysts and no where in the wash is anyone saying these guys are going to be able to win now. If your going to take a QB in the Top 10 you better atleast have the illusion that he can be worthy of top 10 pick somewhere down the line. Beside the die hard Notre Dame people (the strangest fan base in sports, most people have nothing to do with Notre Dame except they went to a Catholic High School in America) no one believe Clausen can carry a franchise. Why draft him that high? If Clausen isn't there at 2.09 (I know its extremely very unlikely) Dan LeFevour may be there. This guy is big, strong, tall, smart and Went 12-2 with a below average talent around him. He seems the perfect answer after passing on the top rated big name QB prospects in 2009. Clausen is rated as the number 25-35 individual player however he may be drafted in the top 15. That is going to be a huge out lay of cash just because 2009 is a bad year for QBs. Dan LeFevour is rated #120- #30 (big range because he is off the radar for some "experts") Get him with the #41 pick and you are getting much more value. If you had this guy in lineup doing drills next to Clausen you wouldn't be able to pick out who went to Notre Dame and who went to Central Michigan. Plus the assumption is you pass on Clausen to get a big LT to protect your QB.

Agreed that McClain is not a top 10 pick but he will have a more of an impact then Maybin ever will.

This is 2010 and you're not paying attention either. Walter Payton, Emmit Smith and Thurman Thomas are dinosaurs. Teams do not build their franchise around and elite back anymore. Look at your own example Adrian Peterson is on one of the most pass happy teams in the NFL. He became an after thought when the Vikes were trying to clinch their playoff spot. Brad Childress and the Vikings didn't sit back and say we have an "elite" RB so our offense is good. He beg borrowed and pleaded for Favre to come back so his team could win. What QB did OJ, Walter Payton, or Earl Campbell have? Who knows and who really cares? Teams were built around RBs. That's not the case in 2010. If you want to ignore the facts go ahead.
-
They brought the other backs in, because, get this, teams are moving to a commitee approach and "elite" RBs are dinosaurs. You misinterpret building a stable of RBs for evidence that most NFLs teams are making moves to try and get 1 workhouse "elite. I asked a question. When was the last time any team in the NFL made a move for a RB or traded up in the draft for a RB. (Your answer BTW is Clinton Portis in 2004.) How many trade ups or big deals happened with WRs and QBs since 2004. Now ask your self if franchises really were trying to develop "elite" RBs would you see franchises make more moves to obtain RBs? Open your eyes. Also Your is second person possessive and You're is a contraction for You Are. As in you're clearly not paying attention and must not done well in on your English homework.

The lack of quality free agents signing is because, we're basically back to pre cap-era rules. Meaning a team that drafts a player owns the rights to the player until they have been in the league for atleast 6 years. Meaning in most cases a player has to wait until they are 28 to get a big Free Agent contract. (Owners didn't give big contracts to players that they already owned for 6 years because, why? Another team has to give up a significant number of picks to try and grab them if they are a RFA. Then you also have the owner collusion angle there) Very few teams are willing to pay big bucks for a guy that is his late 20s to early 30s. That's what you have this year a bunch of guys in their late 20s early 30s. No one wants to sign them to a big deal. Peppers is the best thing out there. Its a perfect system for the owners, and not great for the players. During the most recent CBA, Most rookie contracts (outside of the top 20 draft picks) are for 3 years with a large roster bonus for the 4th if there is a 4th. This is perfect for the players because they hit the free agency market when they are in their prime and teams will pay decent money to snatch one of these guys up. None of these players are a sure thing. Its a boom bust type of system. Exactly what the owners hate, put the players love cashing the Free Agent signing bonus checks. Both parties don't like the current Rookie Contracts, but the players union can't back down on that because if the NFL moves back to an uncap style of free agency the only way players can make mega bucks is to get a huge rookie deal. Plus you have the greedy new owners in the large cities that feel like they support other owners with the current way revenue is shared. They want a system like the MLB. (Which is beyond horrible for the fans, and most owners.) So you have owner vs owner conflict as well. Its a lot of greed. The new rich greedy owners have already built big war chests and know that they could last a lock out\strike season and get what they want. They are more than willing to take a 1-2 year loss to get money like the Steinbrenners get for the next 10. They are in no hurry to make a deal. All this is bad for the fans but they know we will be back no matter what. The fans came back to Baseball, Football, Hockey, and Basketball in the past during labor disputes and as soon as this dispute is over we will be right back there buying tickets. We've got nothing better to do.

Really? You base this on what? Is anyone offering anything for these players? You think you'll see another team trade their whole draft for a RB like the Saints did back in the day. You don't think the Rams would take a 1st and 2nd for Steven Jackson. This has got to be one of the weakest classes for RBs in along time. If it were so important in the NFL to have an "Elite" RB why wouldn't a team make a bold move for one of these guys? When is the last time you've seen a big trade or move for RB? Its not 1990 anymore. Your post shows you're not paying attention.
-
The "elite" RB is a dinosaur in the NFL. RBs are easily disposable in today's NFL. Just get a group of guys and run them through holes up the middle until they break down then stick the next one in there. Its modeled after the Pats. The Saints, Colts, Pats, Jets, Ravens are all taking that approach. More teams will going forward. #9 Buffalo Bills: Trent Williams OT Oklahoma would be fantastic. Not sexy but very needed. If we took Clausen it would be a disaster!

Yeah its just you JPS. Stoud DE is Unfathomable. He doesn't have the speed but he could make a pocket collapse real quick. Plus if they try to double him at the DE, a LB will be free for a Blitz. Will be interesting to see. I'm not worried about the Defense as much as the NO-ffense.

Yes I want a second by second update on Woods' injury from his team of doctors, Buddy Nix, Gailey, and Wood himself. If you read the post you would see that I couldn't find any information and I was asking for some help. Thanks for the link In-A-Gadda-Levitre

When you read a book, do you read the title, put it down and then comment that it's a stupid book. Read the post you ID10T. Clearly the title was meant for dramatic effect so I can get some eyeballs and answers.

I have Googled, I have Binged. I have looked on ESPN, CBS, FOXSports, BuffaloBills.com, Yahoo Sports and I can't find a recent update on Eric Wood. I'm not a doctor but when someone's leg turns into silly putty before everyone's eyes that looks like more than a year type injury. ' Not just the bones but all the ligaments had to get damaged, then they have to be rebuilt, then they have to be strengthened to support over 300 pounds of dude that pushes back another 300 pound dude. So again I'm not a doctor but I'm not feeling optimistic that he'll be there for training camp. Does anyone have any updates, and if you do can you add the links (if thats allowed.)

Pete is right on here. We don't need another half way decent QB in the fold. Delhomme and Derick Anderson are not answers to anyones problems they are more problems. The answer is the O-Line The Bills have drafted 5 Offensive line men since 2002. That includes the 2 last year. And you wonder why our line sucks. The good news is 2 were drafted last year and you have to hope that atleast 1 will be taken this year (#9 on an OT) So Levitre looks to be solid, not spectacular but he played well. Wood looked good but that leg injury was disgusting, no word on whether he will be back. After this year's draft we will know more about the rebuilt line. If we do the smart thing and take a Tackle at 9. That gives us 3 First round picks on the offensive line. If the rookie tackle plays well and wood comes back that could give us a pretty decent line. At that point bringing in a nice rookie or a great veteran would be the smart move. Jack Locker would be a dream come true but unless he has a horrible year or a horrible injury he is going to go #1 overall. As bad as the Bills' offense plays I don't think they're a 1-15 team more like a 4-12, 6-10 team in 2010. Locker won't be there at #5-#9. But I really like Dan LeFevour. If we let Trent or Brohm get smacked around with a young line in 2010 while the o-line gels, Dan LeFevour can take some time to develop and he can be ready halfway through 2011. If Wood isn't ready to come back and or the First Round tackle isn't taken or doesn't pan out, the Bills offense is going to be screwed for atleast another 3 years.

This is why I am A-Ok with drafting a CB in the 3rd round or earlier almost every year. 1.) We have no plans to pay "Shut Down Corner" money (Paying McGee was a suprise, he still might have gotten more in FA) 2.) The one thing the Bills Organization seems to be able to do over the past 20 years is groom young quality CB 3.) If a CB is even a little Gimpy a decent QB will tear him apart. You need depth. Corner and Youboottie look like they can play. PLus the 'Phins don't pass to thier WRs so this will be a good game for Reggie Corner to learn how to be a corner. I hate to see McKelvin go, know he has to think about how he should have sat on the ball with no blockers infront of you and the offense only needed to get 1 maybe 2 first downs to ice the game, but maybe he can see the err of his ways while he is rehabbing.

Ahh, I have some Good News AND I have some Bad News...

I think your forgetting,,,

Don't Worry THE Dick will screw this up. He'll insert Lynch for 17 carries in the first quarter and have him Lynch blow an ACL so he will be done for this year and still be gimpy for next. -
Wrong Chris Henry

We're not spedning cap money on a 1 year veteran minum contract. So do you have any suggestions to improve anything? No. just bitter. Not to mention that the O-Line is playing much better than expected or much better than it did in preseason if you watch the Lambs or the Rust Curtain's O-line they make the Bills patchwork line look great. You should be giving those guys credit for playing as well as they are for all those last second cuts, injuries, and early season pickups. Its suprising we can get Push to run and keep Trent upright for 3 secs. (Just to dump off anyway)

Please enlighten me.

Are you saying they are different? This season Freddie is running between the tackles and taking people on road trips when they try to tackle. Looks very similar to Lynch's style. Last Season Freddie was slashing and dashing not so far this season. Obviously Lynch is out so it changes 22's role but you have to say that if you add a 1 to Freddies Jersey number you couldn't tell the difference earlier this season. (Yeah all you Lynch haters can argue Freddie is more productive or whatever you want to argue) But you can't say that this season Freddie is not running hard between the tackles which is Lynch's style. BTW Henry got injured his rookie season then TEN drafted the same style player in Chris Johnson. Chris Johnson is clearly a better back. Chris Henry clearly got buried in a crowded backfield as Javon Ringer is a nice back as well. What I'm saying is the Bills aren't drafting Henry he won't be a reach as FA mid-season pickup and he will probably be paid a 3rd year Veteran Minimum instead of second round pick salary. Chris Henry was way overpaid in Tennessee that and depth at the position is why he was released. Its worth a gamble for a nice change of pace back. Omon isn't exactly wowing on special teams and he is clearly not a capable running back. Yeah I watched Hard Knocks too. DeDe Dorsey looked good and had the blocked punt. He would be a nice change of pace too. I just think Omon is a dead roster spot and there are atleast two backs that can help the team's attack.

Here's what I detest most about Jauron ...
1B4IDie replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He does hang the players out more than he should especially since he doesn't take a chance to win the game. He doesn't throw the Red Flag. -Against the Pats Wes Welker clearly did not gain a first down on a come back route on the 1 st of the Pats 2 TD drives. It was 3rd and 7. Welker Ran out 9 yards and ame back 3. They spotted the ball as forward progession when he didnt possess the ball. No red flag. That would have shut down that drive or atleast forced a 4 and 7. I DVR-Ed 3 times. And Mike Tirico commented "I guess they gave them the first" Throw the Red Flag. Against the Saints everyone saw Josh Reed's knees didn't touch the ground. Where he landed before the inadvertent whistle. was a first down. Drive is alive. its still a 17-7 game at that point. No red Flag. He even debated with the refs for a minute. Still No Red Flag. What was the downside for challenging? Throw the Red Flag! -
I know the NFL is not Fantasy Football and it is rare to see major roster moves during the season but the Tennessee Titans just cut a homerun hitting 1 cut and dash RB named Chris Henry. Not the infamous Chris Henry. Yes we have two Beast Mode RBs now. But Chris Henry would be a great change of pace back. You really don't get a the benefit of having two RBs if they both run with pretty much the same style. The Defense knows what to expect. The Smash and Dash set up is what keeps defenses on thier toes. This kid could be a great change of pace and we are thin at RB. After the Beast Modes we have Slo-Mode in Oman. Please please please sign this kid. I guarantee he will be picked up by an NFL team. Tennessee is just super deep at RB and had some injuries on Defense where they had to make roster moves. Give him 3 carries a game on 2nd down and short with instructions to make 1 cut and run and see if he can make something happen. He would be cheap and it would add some major spice in the running game. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/412644

Pete Prisco says Bill's biggest need is TE
1B4IDie replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I seriously hope that doesn't happen. There are some nut bags that are good coaches but are meant for the college game. Leach's pirate flags and dating advice won't fly in the NFL. Pete Carroll was\would not be a great NFL coach either.
