Nice!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not down on Nix (yet.) I'm just sayin' if Nix traded Lee Evans & a 7th for 1st, 3rd and 6th round draft choices a la Roy Williams and drafted a RB that has an immediate impact like Best I'd be pretty high on Nix. Its too early determine Holgren's success in Cleveland but no one can argue with Holmgren's track record. 9ers, GB w Favre, and Seagulls to the Super Bowl. Its too early to determine if Nix is on the right or wrong track. I really hope right because its scary if he have another Dud President or GM or whatever the heck Nix is these days.

And that was my "Counter point." Thanks for playing.

Wow, I totally never realized that. They could be sisters. I'll take both. -
Thats a very positive way to view the situation. I'm happy that there are some people still talkin' proud.
-
If thats what you think you were saying, what was anyone's counter point? The point of the thread is to have Bills' fans discuss their opinions of the current crop of top QB prospects. So again please watch the college player's play, form an opinion, then add value to the board. Sorry if my suggestion is too snarky for you.

In Detroit Martin Mayhew seems to have the Lions in the right direction, and Holmgren is now running the show in Cleveland. Buffalo has had a double whammy as far as negatives for a decade now; Clueless leadership and a a tiny market. Nix doesn't have the reputation of Holmgren maybe he can build one like Martin Mayhew is in the process of doing, however Mayhew went to Georgetown Law school and Nix studies under "The Lord of No Rings."

AKM is right on. Just stop and think how many of your friends, family and classmates, have left the Buffalo area over the last 20 years. Many of the People on the board's usernames are "Bills Fan in (Name of City here.)" Almost no one wants to live in Buffalo if they have an option. (Don't try to argue this point, the population of Erie County New York has declined 10% since 1980. http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=uspopulation&met=population&idim=county:36029&dl=en&hl=en&q=erie+county+new+york+population; while the population of the US has increased 35%) However if you look at it from a positive POV. If Luck has faith in his talent and believes he will have support in the Nix regime; taking a constant loser like the Bills and turning them into a winner will reap many rewards. I can't imagine the Bills are that screwed up that wouldn't shell out big dollars to a true Franchise QB. On the Negative a Top 5 QB is guaranteed a certain amount of money, more than many starting QBs. Salary wouldn't be a concern for Luck if he goes Top 3 or Top 10, endorsements will be much higher in other markets. Look at Mark Sanchez, not much substance but has already cached in on millions more in endorsement deals. Bruce Smith had a Nike add and I believe Pizza Hut. I don't remember Kelly, Thurman, or Reed getting much national endorsement attention but Aikman, E. Smith, and Irvin got much more national attention in the 90s. Its not likely that Luck will come out this year for many reasons but AKM does make valid points that if Buffalo were the highest drafting franchise that is need of a QB it would look even better to stay in college an extra year.

I find it amazing that you post things that are just blatancy, crazy-wrong. The 2011 draft is a huge QB draft class. Here is 1 of many major media outlet that has 3 QBs in the top 10 not to mention a 4th if Luck comes out. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/andrew_perloff/04/27/2011.mock.draft/index.html You really need to just stop. You are continually embarrassing yourself and digger yourself in to a deeper and deeper. You clearly have no clue what you're talking about.

One letter off is a typo and I mean grammar. Take a 3rd look Please continue to defend your worthless, waste of time post. You should discuss this with your unnamed game film watching friend, that watches game film that "doesn't really give you an understanding of how well he is playing his position." Genius post. He must watch practice film. That will really give an unnamed source a good feel for the top prospects in the NFL draft.
-
Thanks for correcting my typo. Want to try to correct the grammar in this ONE? Please go watch the QBs play then post. That is my point; or don't and continue to bicker.

Richardson & Ingram is probably better than the Bills' or Cowgirls' backfield. And most of the starters on 'Bamas D will be playing on Sunday. You're probably the only person that is 100% sure, but yes 90% sure may be a bit of exaggeration. I don't want to argue the point I just find it interesting you're so certain What would you handicap the game? If the game were played this weekend Bills -3, Bills -7? Just curious. BTW speaking of 'Bama players playing the Bills, here is a scary thought with the trade the Gatriots made with Raiders, The Pats might be inline to draft Mark Ingram in the first round. Although the Pats don't seem to prize RBs and are happy recycling veterans, I wouldn't like to see Mark Ingram 2 times a year. It might be another 10 years until the Bills get a win in Foxboro

You are right on, but the point of this thread is not to talk directly of the draft in April, although that is clearly the end goal of the discussion. The main point of the thread is to discuss opinions of the play of the top college QBs prospects so far in the season and encourage Bills fans to watch the prospects play college ball during the season. I do this in effort to try to spare some of the discussions of last season where many of the posters never watched McCoy, Claussen, or Tebow play yet were loaded with tons of opinions. Its clear in Week 2 of the 2010 season, the Bills need a QB going forward. Lets take a look at the Up and Coming QBs in College football now. We can do this in parallel of watching the Bills "play" their NFL season.
-
Flaw #1 Your original statement has an unstated supposition that there should be a consensus #1 QB prospect. That is untrue and that is the flaw in the logic of your statement. Week 3 of college football is too early to have a consensus #1 QB prospect in any year. Sorry you can't see that. Flaw #2 If you haven't watched any of the QBs discussed in this thread play, than your opinion is worthless. Try to contribute with some valid insight instead of pop off a worthless illogical post.
-
Flawed logic. Its too early and there is a lot more football to be played. Watch the games, form an opinion, then post.

While in GB I was able to watch all 3 of these top QB prospect's games. For a Bills' fan knowing that Sunday was going to be ugly it was nice to see a glimpse of the possible future of the Bills at Curly's in Lambeau. Locker - Wow, Scary. He was under constant pressure and looked like hot garbage. Making poor decisions, ducking and covering. It was scary to think this guy is being talked about as #1 overall. 1 game doesn't make a career but the way it seemed he dealt with pressure looks horrible. What kind of pressure do you think he'll get in Buffalo on Sundays? Luck - Wow, Scary Great. The zip on the ball, the accuracy, the ability to make things happen with his legs. I'm not saying definitely draft him, I'm saying just because we have a current Stanford QB on the roster doesn't mean we shouldn't look at this one. Very intelligent decision making and looked to be very accurate (didn't really lay it out where his receiver was in a bad position to make the catch or after the catch.) The one knock was that he didn't seem to look downfield when he was forced out of the pocket. He may have looked soo good because I don't believe Wake Forest's defense is highly regarded. Definitely want to see this Saturday 9/25/2010 @ 3:30 EST against Notre Dame's defense and Saturday October 9th 8:00pm EST Home against USC. Mallet - so-so - Yeah he won SEC player of the week, yeah he has a nice statline BUT I wouldn't be surprised be if more than 50% of the passing yards were YAC. He dumped off to the RB in the flat too often, it brought up memories of our current QB debacle. Even on 1 of his TD passes, where there was a bit of a play fake and the receiver was wide open in the end zone he kind of threw a giant rainbow, it had hang time like a punt. In the NFL a Safety or CB is too fast they would have picked it off or atleast be in position to defend the play. Saturday 9/25/2010 @ 3:30 Mallet home against 'Bama is a must watch for Bills fan. Flip back and forth between that and Luck vs Notre Dame. Odds are high 1 of those guys will be wearing Red, White and Blue in 2011. Not giving up Locker but that was 1 bad game. I'm 90% sure that Alabama could beat the Buffalo Bills this year so watching Mallet play against a defense where most of the starters will be playing on Sunday in the next 4 years will be a real good test. And I won't see Arkansas O-line is better than the Bills O-line but they probably have a better LT. BTW my signature, before the upgrade, used to call out Mallet as the Bills first round pick in 2011. I'm not so certain anymore this college season is going to be important to watch all 3.

I live in DC and have gone to McFadden's last 5 years. Don't go this year. McFaddens cancelled the Bills Backers.(They are kind of dicks) Laughing Man's is the place to go this year they appreciate the Bills Backers.

There is a confidentiality agreement in place when a player flunks a drug test. The details of the flunk are confidential. All signs and innuendo around this incident point to a supplement not any narcotic. On the bright side maybe with the 4 weeks off Nelson can make it through 12 regular season games without getting insured. Gailey seems to realize if you have a QB that likes to dump off the ball put people that can make something happen after the catch in the positions the QB will dumb off to. The increased role of Roscoe and the starting of Spiller Time point to that. On paper Shawn Nelson is a guy that could turn on a dump off into a first down but its TBD until he makes it on the field.
-
But because the Buffalo Bills dont use "Buffalo Bill" as a mascot or in any logos, they are effectively the Buffalo Buffaloes.
-
OC in Buffalo. You are crazy inaccurate all over the place. TO very rarely ran a route that didn't hug the sidelines. And probably won't in Cinci. A possession receiver is a receiver that catches passes between the hash marks to keep the chains moving. (Josh Reed would be the closest to a possession receiver the Bills had ) There is plenty off evidence Chad Jackson won't be 70 catch receiver. Steve Johnson has a high motor and desire if Hardy had half of Johnson's work ethic he could be 70 catch guy but There is a ton of evidence that Hardy won't make it. TJ is not old for a WR or injury riddled. He would take reps away from the Young WRs but adding a good wide receiver that has a reputation for picking up firsts and extending drives could actually increase reps for the young guys because the Bill could have the ball longer and WRs packages can be substituted to develop Steve Johnson. Basically there really isn't a downside for picking Housh up for 1 mil.
-
Why would you not want a player like TJ. He is not that old for a WR and has way better hands than TO with 2/3s less attitude. Plus you only need to pay him $500 k. Seattle will pick up the rest. I like Steve Johnson a lot but TJ seems like an upgrade.

Our beat reporters clearly have no ESPN connections. Adam Schefter's little pea brain works this way: "The Bills suck. They need any type of help. No one will refute anything I make up about the Bills. I need a story I'll just use the Bills." Yeah I know about the post, but I'm just venting & tired of the Bills being linked to everyone that is "on the market." I doubt the Bills bring in Leinhert this late in the game. Why would we get another Checkdown Charlie?

Peace is right on about the value of our so called "1000 yard" or "pro bowl" RBs. Who wants a 30 year old Fred Jackson or a knuckle headed Lynch? The answer is no one. When was the last time a RB was traded in the NFL? In case you haven't been paying attention this is 2010, not 1990. Teams are not built around a "RB1." Teams have a whole bunch of 5'9 to 6' 215+ guys that run real fast while holding on to the ball, some can make cuts and catch as well. There is nothing special about Lynch or Jackson that any team would give up any decent talent. It is much more valuable to the Bills to keep the depth at RB then get a a 3rd day pick. Fred Jackson has maybe 2 years left in his career and its not likely the Bills resign Lynch at any type of money Lynch thinks he deserves. So get what you can out of Lynch and Jackson over the next one-two years instead of gaining a 4th rounder or later, which is all the market for a RB of Lynch or Jackson would garner.
