Ngata expected to be drafted by the Bills
1B4IDie replied to Chandemonium's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen. Those two moves definitely set the franchise back, I remember how the ESPN draft staff had no notes or video of McCargo ready. Thats never a good sign; Not saying they are geniuses, but I'm just sayin' they might have say the top 50 prospects ready for the first round. -
Magic Johnson wants to bring a team to LA

Build a stadium in Hamilton, Ontario and a bridge. The Niagara Bills. You get Toronto, Southern Ontario, and WNY. Problem Solved. -
Ngata expected to be drafted by the Bills
1B4IDie replied to Chandemonium's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, he is so open about it too. I guess there was more than just fan speculation that Ngata was in the Bills sights. See how Ngata seems to want to get better at football as opposed to some players that seem to want to look better with their shirt off, Maybi those players should take notes. -
Magic Johnson wants to bring a team to LA

I never really heard of the Delaware North Companies Guy buying the Bills. That idea to me seems like the most realistic chance of the Bills staying in Buffalo after Ralph Wilson dies. Jim Kelly ownership is as real as Big Foot. Jim Kelly couldn't get a business loan for $100M let alone $1000 million he has proven not to be successful in business. All the "faithful" that think the Bills will by default stay in Buffalo after Ralphie passes, I ask you how? Seriously? Why would someone that is investing 900 Million dollars leave a team in an area that could never see the growth in value that Deadskins or Cowgirls have seen? It makes zero sense. If someone is going to invest 900 million dollars they are going to try and maximize that investment in a region that is growing not shrinking. However Jacobs is the first time I have heard of any realistic ownership group that would keep the Bills in Buffalo once Ralphie is gone. Has he said anything about trying to buy the Bills? -

The point is the guy has $100 mil in loose change, and a business valued at least $700 million. Plus he is Ervin Magic Johnson, Not Crazy Al Davis. People in LA will go to the game with Magic led ownership group. This is real. Jim Kelly trying to scrape together his couple dozen million dollars is a joke at best. Magic Johnson scraping together his 100s of millions is real. It'll be the first stadium with front row luxury boxes, right at sideline level. You can't see the game but Jack Nicholson can high five Spiller after a TD. Thanks, I was wondering why everyone was missing that point. Nice! They could be the LA Magic Johnsons and you can have a giant Tallywacker with wings as the mascot, very LA. Buffalo Bill Cody is a loose association with Buffalo anyway. California is the Wild Wild West after all. -
There haven't been any real talk between the NFL and Magic Johnson but PFT (yes they're horrible rumor mongers) says that Magic Johnson is getting his money together and would be interested in bringing an NFL team to LA. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/20/magic-johnson-wants-to-bring-an-nfl-team-back-to-la/ The reason this worries me is there hasn't been any realistic ownership groups out there that could put together more than 1 Billion dollars to buy the Bills and move them to LA (You have to think about 900 mil to buy the team then atleast 500 mil to build a stadium) But some people might not realize Magic is very successful business person, He runs Magic Johnson Enterprises, a company that has a net worth of $700 million. He owns his lines of movie theaters got into Starbucks early, has a food contracting business and has been able to build 100s of millions of dollars of net worth. According to the article he now has about 100 million liquid. 100 million in cash means you can get financed for much more. Buying an NFL team is a safe bet any big money investment group would help finance a purchase. Its as much a sure thing as any investment, but they're just not going to hand out money they want a successful Business person. Magic Johnson with 100 million in cash would be a realistic start of an owner ship group. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Johnson#Media_figure_and_business_interests Daniel Snyder finacied most of his purchase of the Redskins and he was less successfull than Magic. In May 1999, Snyder purchased the Redskins and Jack Kent Cooke Stadium for $800 million following the death of previous owner Jack Kent Cooke[citation needed]. At the time, it was the most expensive transaction in sporting history[citation needed]. The deal was financed largely through borrowed money, including $340 million borrowed from Société Générale and $155 million debt assumed on the stadium[citation needed]. Annual loan servicing costs are an estimated $50 million http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Snyder I know this early but this is scary. This could be the first real threat in the creation of the LA Bills, (I propose LA Quakes)

Bills have 1st crack at Merriman.

Why would rebuilding not mean bringing in FAs? The difference is V-Jax and Vick are not available right now. Merriman is. -

When you Juice, you're able to recover from injuries faster. Its easy to make the connection that now that he is off the juice he can't recover from injury as fast. BUT We need LBs. We have the worst LB core in the NFL Merriman is only 26. He is due $3,269,000 this season, which is only 60% of Kelsay's salary. But since we get him for half the season we're only paying him 1.6 mil? That seems like a deal even if he walks after 8 games. To repeat we have the worst LBers in the NFL, we need support if he gets 5 sacks he would be the sack leader on this team. It kind of seems like you're not even trying if you don't place a claim on him. The big problem is his contract. He probably would rather play 8 games for a team, show his stuff and become a free agent rather than negotiate an extension when he clearly has such a depressed value for a 26 year old with 54 career sacks. Still 1.6 Mil, 8 games, its not like we have young LBs were trying to develop. We have a motley crew of cast offs. Merriman fits right in, except he is young and has potential. If you want to build through the draft, imo, picking up Merriman seems like you're getting a free draft pick. He has to be as good or better than a 3rd or 4th round LB and if you can somehow negotiate a 2-3 year deal at 2-3 mil a season it could be a steal. Make the contract incentive laden, if he gets 12+ sacks a season he can earn 4-6 mil. What are real reasons to pass on him? ("he sux" "Tila Tequila sux" aren't real reasons) -
Codero Howard to Start At Right Tackle...
1B4IDie replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You realize that drafting a RT at #9 would be considered by everyone with any kind of football sense a horrible move, right? You draft a LT at #9. If the guy you draft at #9 overall plays RT that means, he sucks at the position he was drafted which would have been LT. If you are suggesting the Bills draft a RT with top 3 overall in 2011 you're even more clueless. -
Bills fans should take Ryan Fitzpatrick seriously...
1B4IDie replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah I know all the backups were in, but his accuracy was still there. The next few games KC, DET, and Cinci will give Fitzy enough time to earn some respect. (I wish we could just skip the Ravens game, its going to be brutal watching Ray Rice run all over the Bills and Ray Lewis kill the Bills RB\WR and possibly QBs given how bad Fitzy gets buried, I know they say "Any Given Sunday" but the two franchises are in different classes.) I like the idea of the Fitzpatrick Bridge while Mallet waits in the wings. Here some quick and dirty recent round 1 QBs and the number of games they played as a rookie Flacco, Matt Ryan, Stafford, Bradford, Vince Young, Roethlisberger had 14 had to start week 1 as rookies. Eli Manning played 9 and JaMarcuss Russell 4, Alex Smith 6, Cutler played 4, Josh Freeman played 9, Matt Leinhert played 12, as rookies. It looks like only Philip Rivers, Aron Rodgers, & Brady Quinn got a chance to sit out a full year. If\When the Bills take a QB in the first round given the recent history of 1st round QBs it doesn't look like they'll have time to "Develop" the QB on the bench. If you look and Rivers\Rodgers\Quinn, Thats 2\3 hits for a franchise QB, small sample but it seems like a much higher success rate. Plus Quinn actually played 1 game so keeping the Franchise QB on the bench a year while Fitzy plays looks like an even better idea. This is quick and dirty so if you have any other examples of First Round QBs in the last ten years feel free to classify them as start immediately, start a portion of the games in a season or sit as a rookie. Actually looking at the list a second time. There are really only three complete busts Quinn, Russell and Leinhert. Smith has been serviceable has not lived up to #1 overall draft status. I must be missing some more first rounders. Oh yeah JP Lossman, who got to sit his rookie year -

To Stir the pot: How About January 3, 2010 in a "real" snow storm. 16/25 155 Yards, 3 TD, 0 INTs -
Thanks Heels, I was waiting for the bad defense argument. To point out the same thing happened in 2009. Now dogs next move is to say "if you throw out the Colts game against 3rd stringers . . ."

Answer me this, why do the Bills score, 8.5 points a game under Trent Edwards and with the same supporting cast minus Lynch the Bills score 23.3 points a game with Fitzpatrick at QB?

I agree with you 1billsfan that Fitzy is playing better than he is given credit for; Fitzy and the offense including the offensive line is playing much better than they are given credit for. Replacment for Jim Kelly is a bit too much, but he would be a great starter for 2011 with Mallet on the bench learning the offense. I tried to point out that our defense is the major problem this year and the offense is playing OK under Fitzy but I got major blow back too. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/121639-161-points-against/ Most people have predetermined their opinion without looking at the games objectively. They are also propagating the myth that we are getting completely blown out in every game, which isn't true. Someone posted this earlier in your thread. Wins are really the only thing that is going to change any minds about Fitzy. This is true. Its going to have to start in Week 8 against the Chiefs because the Ravens are going to pound the Bills on Sunday. The two teams are in completely different classes. -

Except for today. We haven't been 20 points down with the backs ups in this season except for the GB game, but Trent Edwards was the QB. I'll give the 'bot the 4th qtr drive against the Pats but you can't say the stats are padded. But I'm not agreeing Fitzy is the replacement for Jim Kelly. Fitzpatrick is the perfect bridge QB for our #1 QB draft pick. The Fitzpatrick Bridge. Fitzpatrick can start and the Future Franchise QB can learn for a year. -
I personally was happy to see him in since I started the Ten Defense!!! Trent Edwards playing means very little points scored. His legacy lives on. And Jaws got on him in the second for the interception where he gave Ten two chances at 1 st down the defender dropped the pick in his numbers but Trent gave him a second try.

first pass, checkdown

And this will continue until Buffalo starts winning with the players that it drafts. If you had your choice of places to play, and your rookie contract is up, why would you play for an organization that kind find its bottom with both hands?
-
So the Texans just took the crown away from the Bills for most Points Allowed throughout the season they have allowed 167 points through 6 whole games, why the Bills have let in 161 points through 5 whole games. Plus if the Jags give up more than 24 points we will be relegated to 3rd place. Don't worry there is good news the Texans are on Bye when the Ravens beat up on the Bills for 60 Minutes after their OT loss to the Patriots, so we'll have a chance to take back the crown of giving up the most points in the NFL.
-
Even then they'd take the BJ, and say "Pych! I'm not playing for a franchise that puts out so easy. South Beach here I come." Seriously Free Agency has proven to be very difficult here in Buffalo. We need to build a playoff team through the draft then we might have a chance to sign free agents to close the deal. But since there are more people born in Buffalo that don't live in Buffalo, its not likely people are going to choose to come to a disorganized franchise at the bottom of the league with less than favorable living conditions.

48 hours to the trade deadline.

Or Nix making a trade for your approval -
The point of Punch's post is Thurman is right, if the #2 3-4 DE is Neil Smith or Leonard Marshall then there really isn't a #2 significant 3-4 DE after Bruuuuuuuuuuce.
-
How do you read my post and interpret that Free Agency will be ignored? But Free Agency means a player is free to decide where they play. Don't get your hopes up than any significant talent is going to choose to come Buffalo. We haven't had a significant Free Agent signing since Takeo Spikes. Specifically what holes are greater?

1. No we won't see how far they from competing, because the Defense makes good offenses look like bad offenses. We'll look just as good as any other offense that plays against the Ravens So we really won't look much different than the Jets or Broncos offense next Sunday. 2. The offense looked Pathetic against the Packers and for 1 quarter against the Jets, so that must be the 1.25 defenses that "have a clue" The Fact is we are scoring 87 points on the season. This is right in the middle of the road. However our defense is allowing 161 points, even after the Bye week the defense is probably going to give the most points in the NFL when other defenses have played 4 more qtrs. I don't know what you guys are reading my point isn't that this is a good team. My point is we have the wost LBing core in NFL history. This needs to be addressed as a 1st priority. Thats just not true. It was 14-13 at half time against the Jets. We lost the Pats game by 1 TD. It was 27-20 against the Jags in the 4th QTR, until we lost by a 1TD and 1FG. The only game that Bills were completely out of it was against the Pack. Saying we were completely Blown-out in every game is a complete exaggeration.
