NFL Draft 2010 Revisited
1B4IDie replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why? We're not agreeing or disagreeing you're stating an opinion based on what? I gave you very specific examples why Mallet will be ranked near the top. I never said Luck will be rated lower. Luck will still be #1. You're opinion is based on what, what specifically? "He'll drop because he'll drop is not answer it's nonsense." -

Can you please stop posting this nonsense. Mallet is better than Bradford without the injuries. Mallet will shot to the top of most boards. Plus I didn't know the Bills made there draft rankings public. Why very specifically a QB with a 166 passer rating 3500 yards passing with 67%+ rating. With an arm like a cannon and elevated a program in the difficult SEC drop in the draft? -
Steve Johnson on Jim Rome

The point being after the 2010 season. Stevie J will have 1 year left so; if Stevie J finishes strong Nix needs to have extending Stevie J near the top of the list. -
Andrew Luck...anyone else concerned about this

I tried to find a College Football YAC chart a few weeks ago after watching a Stanford game, because I was thinking that 45% of Luck's passing yards were YAC. Lots of screens and dump offs. I couldn't find it. Then I wondered if 45% would be high. If anyone can find that comparison of college football QBs with YAC that would be I interesting. -

No you're not jumping the gun, it's the #3-4 priortity in the offseason to sign Stevie J to an extension. He only has one year left on his deal. -
You're right if Luck is there when the Bills pick Luck is the proper pick. What I am trying to do is set realistic expectations. There are many more posts that rhapsodize about what a beautiful QB Luck is and how he and Teddy Bruschi walk hand in hand over lakes and rivers while they discuss football strategy. When I read them, it seems very certain the poster has never watched Luck play. He is a good QB prospect with some more to learn. He is not a guaranteed Week 1 starter in the NFL. If he comes out in the draft he has LESS RISK than the other prospects. The good news is the Bills seem to have a pretty good QB coach. So taking a QB that does need some improvement to play in the NFL, like Luck will be a good thing. I guess we're disagreeing to agree but it sounds like we're saying a lot of the same things just in a different way. It just bothers me when Luck is described as a ready made QB when my eyes tell me something different and the poster is talking about things they want to see now things they're actually seeing.

+1 "This thread is a waste of time" is the most ironic occurrence on the internet. -

NOOOOOOOOO! Don't start any Kolb conversations. Kolb is Rob Johnson Part II. His 3 career wins come against the worst teams in the NFL. -

Excellent point!!! Can you make this your signature? I like my current signature otherwise I would make this post my signature. Its not an either\or its "I hope they both declare for 2011 draft because the Bills picking in the top 5 should be able to get one of them." -
Yeah I find this "since Rivers" stuff funny, I guess its because in 2010 he is making an assault on Marino's record. If we're talking 2004 draft. I would think that Eli Manning would = Luck (can't miss, NFL blood lines, consensus #1 overall) and Mallet would = Philip Rivers (Rocket Arm, immobile QB, ? about being an NFL quality QB) For the Bill's sake I could live with Luck, Eli Manning or Mallet, Philip Rivers.

Kevin Kolb and Mike Vick are both Free Agents Next season

I only hope that Bills DO NOT make a play for Kolb, can you say Rob Johnson part II -

No they have been. They backed into the playoffs in 2007 with former Bills Second Round pick Todd Collins mostly because they play in the NFC. Other than that both franchises have been bottom dwellers. Here is their records since they last played each other in the Super Bowl, a "*" indicates playoffs 2010 NFL Washington Redskins 4 5 2009 NFL Washington Redskins 4 12 2008 NFL Washington Redskins 8 8 2007 NFL Washington Redskins* 9 7 2006 NFL Washington Redskins 5 11 2005 NFL Washington Redskins* 10 6 2004 NFL Washington Redskins 6 10 2003 NFL Washington Redskins 5 11 2002 NFL Washington Redskins 7 9 2001 NFL Washington Redskins 8 8 2000 NFL Washington Redskins 8 8 1999 NFL Washington Redskins* 10 6 1998 NFL Washington Redskins 6 10 1997 NFL Washington Redskins 8 7 1996 NFL Washington Redskins 9 7 1995 NFL Washington Redskins 6 10 1994 NFL Washington Redskins 3 13 1993 NFL Washington Redskins 4 12 2010 NFL Buffalo Bills 1 8 2009 NFL Buffalo Bills 6 10 2008 NFL Buffalo Bills 7 9 2007 NFL Buffalo Bills 7 9 2006 NFL Buffalo Bills 7 9 2005 NFL Buffalo Bills 5 11 2004 NFL Buffalo Bills 9 7 2003 NFL Buffalo Bills 6 10 2002 NFL Buffalo Bills 8 8 2001 NFL Buffalo Bills 3 13 2000 NFL Buffalo Bills 8 8 1999 NFL Buffalo Bills* 11 5 1998 NFL Buffalo Bills* 10 6 1997 NFL Buffalo Bills 6 10 1996 NFL Buffalo Bills* 10 6 1995 NFL Buffalo Bills* 10 6 1994 NFL Buffalo Bills 7 9 1993 NFL Buffalo Bills* 12 4 -
The concept of trading for Tebow really hurts your creditability. Its laughable at best. What would we offer? A top 5 pick? Thats really not a good idea in any stretch of the imagination. However I do believe you are one of the few people to actually watch Luck play, because people that dont see this: seemed alot of balls were underthrown on occassion or his receivers would have scored more TD's if hit on stride (rather than reaching back or diving) aren't watching the games. Luck dumps off A LOT (yeah yeah "Its the System" is the excuse) and when he has an open receiver he does under throw them often. There is this imaginary Peyton-esque Luck and then the real Luck that is a good prospect but needs another year in college, or some major NFL QB coaching to be effective. Good news is Chan's staff seems to be good at coaching QBs.

NFL Draft 2010 Revisited
1B4IDie replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would just like to point out, that even in rewriting the draft with perfect hindsight at this point in time, no one could get an impact pass rusher in the first 3 rounds, I wouldn't put Bowman in that category he may be a good LB someday and has earned PT over an aging Takeo Spikes but he is not terrorizing QBs. Brandon Deaderick is a no brainer given his performance for a 7th round pick and I really was surprised we passed on Hernandez in the 4th but notice that the Pats took both of those players, maybe there is more to it than just picking a player from one team and dropping the player on another team, maybe the coaching and FO helps supports the players and puts them in an opportunity to be successful, just maybe. My point is that, there really wasn't an impact player drated over Spiller in the Hindsight mocks. People can complain all they want but Brian Beluga at RT is definitely an upgrade over the turnstile of the week, but a RT at #9 overall isn't really an impact pick at #9 overall. So maybe with the draft class of 2010, the Bills draft picks weren't so bad. -

1B4IDie replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Redksins O-Line is worse than the Bills and McNabb has been finding ways to win. However, this does seem a bit excessive, I don't know if what the free agent market would have been for him, this does seem like a lot of guaranteed money. I doubt that he'll play this contract out. I can't imagine McNabb making plays in 2015, but who knows. -
If you discount the stupidity of trading up to get LOSSman, or you write it off as a calculated risk that failed, the Bills haven't drafted a QB in the first round since 1983. Thats right Jim Kelly (#14 overall, not #1 overall.) So since 1980 the Bills are 1 for 2 on first round QBs. Its probably about time this Franchise roll the dice on a 1st round QB. Luck and Mallet both fit the bill. But the play of Fitzy also plays into the decision if Luck or Mallet are not there. Don't reach for Locker, or Cam Newton in the 1st. (check the signature)

I know! That was BeatMode. He powered that double team to the ground. How you call that Defensive Holding???!!! I don't know that was the ref was looking at. That was highlight reel material.

Good analysis, I didn't get a chance to watch it again last night. You got everyone's immediate reaction. Still goes back to practice, that is not the first that our coverage has mistakenly double covered a receiving option. Its Not just McDainBramaged. I can think of the Kelsay "WR Blitz" that allowed LT to bounce it out and then back in to score a TD. Its either the lack of talent in the front 7 or the system and coaching or both.

Andrew Luck...anyone else concerned about this
1B4IDie replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See this is the kind of responses you get. "Andrew Luck is the greatest QB in NFL history, and grass is green, both equally true facts. What did they teach you on elementry school that you don't know that?" "How do you know?" "Well some guy told me on the radio, and my cousin told me, and some guy on ESPN had him ranked high." -

I agree about arm strength and with the OP about dumping off. I have watched about half of Luck's games. I DVR Stanford and Arkansas; I'm going to have to add Auburn. I posted a few weeks back an assessment of one of the games where I brought up both of these concerns and you would have thought I strangled some of the responders mothers by their responses. Bills fans have turned Luck into something he can never be. Don't get me wrong the kid has a ton of potential but he is not as polished as draftniks will make him out to be. He is only 3/4 of the way baked. The good news is I think he knows it too, he needs another year in college to be fully done. He may be self aware enough to know that and ignore the hype that will bring him to Bustville. Now I do think he may be the QB in this potential draft class with the most potential but when I watch him play I don't see an NFL ready QB, I see a great potential that needs some more coaching. (Luck protectors do your worst.) -

Is it though? Could be a bit of Chicken and Egg but the football decision makers in OAK, SF, JAC, DET, HOU haven't been exactly praised for thier smart personal decision making. I wonder if there is a connection to bad FOs and draft pick busts? -
