  1. Free Agent TE is the way to go. TE is a position where a rookie rarely thrives. Plus the offense seems to do just fine without a TE right now. Finding a pass rushing specialist like Jeremy Beal is much higher priority in the draft for round 2-3. Good Pass rushers rarely hit Free Agent Market and when they do they cost a buttload. Look at Peppers last season. http://nflmocks.com/2010/09/26/2011-nfl-draft-scouting-report-jeremy-beal-okla/ Jeremy Beal Oklahoma 6-3 263 They played him at Saftey on some plays because he has enough speed, not world case OLB speed, but enough to keep up with a TE, thats pretty crazy for a dude at 263. He was ideal size for an OLB and has OK speed. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=76785&draftyear=2011&genpos=OLB http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/27213/jeremy-beal
  2. Clyde "Bulldog" Turner, C, Chicago Bears, Drafted 1940! Masochist-at-Heart, You are correct. Good thing the #1 Priority for the Bills is a pass rusher which will be available when the Bills pick.
  3. You're not alone.
  4. Right on. Not to mention there is no real quality difference between a #2 pick and #6 pick, we're talking about the 11 Best players out of of all of the 100s of college football players. Lets look a a quick look at HOF players: # of NFL Hall of Famers picked at each draft position in the top 11: #1 Picks - 11 #2 Picks - 8 #3 Picks - 9 #4 Picks - 9 #5 Picks - 6 #6 Picks - 10 #7 PIcks - 1 #8 Picks - 4 #9 Picks - 3 #10 Picks - 2 #11 Picks - 5
  5. I agree!!! (I hope you're serious. I have been afraid to say this for fear of being attacked mercilessly.) But the Bills are great at drafting in the late rounds. Just put a TBD poll in charge of Rounds 1 and 2, where there is a crapload of easily accessible information about the Top 50 players in the draft. Then have whoever keeps pulling out these late round picks continue. We'd have Ngata, Orakpo, and have taken the SD trade last year for #9 and picked up some more talent at LB and O-Line
  6. Actually 3/5 of the line is different from last year. Wood was injured and Bell didn't play but a few games in 2009. So its a little more complicated than putting a good QB behind a bad line. Please refer to the "Official the O-Line Does not Suck any more thread" http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/123315-the-official-the-o-line-does-not-suck-anymore-thread/page__st__20 Things change overtime, and the O-Line has developed into a serviceable group along with the much better play of Fitzy.
  7. That was Hilarious. I definitely actually LOLed then rewound and made my wife watch and she actually LOLed. Rarely LOL is an accurate description of what happened but in this case there was definitely at least 2 LOLs, not quite ROFL but definitely LOL.
  8. That was said back on page 1 in October, the first "career game" that become just another game until the next "career game." Clearly the post reads "at the end of the season." Which in case you're not aware is after January; no one is really rushing there. You do the extension before the player becomes a free agent so that you don't have to pay an over-inflated free agent price, you get to negotiate a more favorable contract. Stevie J would become a free agent after 2011, you don't want that to happen. Finding a WR that will work hard, which he has since 2008, and stays humble, which he has see the press conference after his "career game" is hard to find. But I'm the one with a typical response that doesn't make any sense.
  9. Since we're under the none existent cap and its not my money I'm not too worried about Ralphie's 1.7 million however, I expect that Someone should be worried about 1.7 Million dollars. And that some should ask the doctor that performed the Physical, "Really? You didn't think to check his Achilles tendon? Was that not in your patient history? Do you not pay attention to football even though you are an NFL doctor and it is your business? Really you passed this guy?" As me, a random guy, I would say to the Bills, Sign me for 1.7 million, hell .7 million and I can hold a press conference and then collect checks for watching the game. I'm just saying if they're going to hand out money, I'm not adverse to taking a couple hundred K. But really its no sweet off my back.
  10. When the Compensatory pick is discussed, the Formula for determining a Compensatory pick is the players performance in the year following the loss of the player. Meaning Merriman's performance in 2011, also the way I read it the amount of money the player was paid by the team that is assigned the compensatory pick, which in this case for the Bills would be 1.7mil over 8 games. Basically the idea of the Bills receiving a compensatory pick for "losing" Merriman is a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOng shot.
  11. Where exactly was that said? This is a myth. Are you telling me that Defense Coordinators that plan all week for 1 game, are so scared of Lee Evans that they are OK with Stevie Johnson Being the #13 Receiver in the entire NFL in Reception, the #10 Receiver in Yards, and the #3 Receiver in the entire NFL in receiving TDs. Thats not just one game. So if thats what you're saying then that is an insult to every Defensive Coordinator the Bills have played. Doubling Lee Evans all season is not what is happening. There is a safety on Lee's side of the field watching the long ball on that side of the field. Nothing particularly exotic and nothing that is particularly special when it comes to a defensive coverage. Which is different than a constant double coverage that Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, or Roddy White will see. Thats all, Lee Evans is still a good receiver. There's no hate. Just a misrepresentation of Lee Evans effect on opposing defenses.
  12. 3.269/2 = 1.6345 which rounds up to 1.7 Million. A Dean should never expose his pupils to a possible shortcoming in his education.
  13. The problem is yes people are talking about a strategy of Purposely losing. Edward's Arm for one.
  14. Isn't that weird though? I thought #7 was Lucky.
  15. How does saying that Lee Evans is not doubled on every play mean: 1.) Lee Evans is never double teamed 2.) Lee Evans sucks? the Answer is: It doesn't The perception that Stevie J gets open solely because defenses focus their coverage constantly on Lee Evans, which was myth in September and October is proven to be false. Stevie J is sometimes doubled too, and he gets opened. The Myth that Lee Evans is an unbelievably great WR, that is just stymied by the lack of talent surrounding him is also proving to be debunked. Lee Evans is a good WR, not a game changing #1 WR. Thats what it means.
  16. It wouldn't be a horrible idea. But in the NBA teams were clearly tanking, and sitting thier vets in order to get a higher draft pick on a very large scale. It wasn't 1 Carolina it was 10 Carolinas. Some think the Cavs still tanked even with a lottery in place to get more balls for LeBron. 1/5 starters make a huge difference in the NBA. 1/22 starters don't make as big as a difference in the NFL. Plus essentially Its almost the same odds you draft a HOFer and #2 as #6 so its not really a huge incentive for teams Unless they believe there is a 1 in every 10 or 20 year player, (Like Andrew Luck) then its even a crapshoot if he declares. Overall tanking is not really prevalent in the NFL I also wouldn't say that Carolina is tanking. They have lost 3 starting QBs and 3 Starting RBs. Its hard to win when you're playing dudes off the street at those two important positions. # of NFL Hall of Famers picked at each draft position in the top 11: #1 Picks - 11 #2 Picks - 8 #3 Picks - 9 #4 Picks - 9 #5 Picks - 6 #6 Picks - 10 #7 PIcks - 1 #8 Picks - 4 #9 Picks - 3 #10 Picks - 2 #11 Picks - 5
  17. The ghost of Posts past. 1.) Lee Evans constantly being double teamed was a myth and most undoubtedly will continue being a myth going forward. Why would teams not roll coverage over to Stevie going forward; or atleast the past few game? 2.) The Signing of Stevie Johnson in the offseason just moved up to Top 3 priority of Buddy Nix.
  18. The rumors of a compensatory pick are greatly exaggerated. He would need to actually qualify with some PT in 2011 for a 2012 Compensatory pick and he has and will have a tiny salary. 1.7 won't get you much. Compensatory picks cannot be traded, and the placement of the picks is determined by a proprietary formula based on the player's salary, playing time, and postseason honors with his new team, with salary being the primary factor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League_Draft#Compensatory_picks
  19. Its likely he will be cut after Pre-Season 2011 or before he has a roster bonus next year. He has zero.zero trade value and is a liability on and off the field. He needs to gain 20 pounds to start, he is not a male model he is supposed to be a LB it doesn't seem he understands this concept. If he can't play, he can't play. There is no switch.
  20. To do List: Find Super Soaker, Fill Super Soaker with Water Bring Super Soaker to Hertel Avenue during Jerry Sullivan walk of shame. Hopefully Hypothermia will cause coma or death. (Crap, this post may serve as evidence of premeditated homicide.) P.S. if he doesn't do it during the winter he is even more of Kitty Cat than everyone thinks.
  21. Maybe when they decide not to make Leslie Frazier their H-C next year we can hire him as our D-Co, ala Perry Fewell. Although I doubt he will take a D-Co coach position on a team he interviewed for HC and if he gets them to stop quiting I'm sure he'll be a hot commodity next year, But a boy can dream.
  22. This guy is becoming my second round OLB of choice: http://nflmocks.com/2010/09/26/2011-nfl-draft-scouting-report-jeremy-beal-okla/ Jeremy Beal Oklahoma 6-3 263 They played him at Saftey sometimes because he has enough speed, thats pretty crazy for a dude at 263. Thats ideal size for an OLB and has some speed. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=76785&draftyear=2011&genpos=OLB http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/27213/jeremy-beal
  23. Had to one up you. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Steve-Johnson-celebrates-TD-with-a-Joker-quote-o?urn=nfl-287840
  24. You're right to hope you're wrong, probably because you are wrong. Dick didn't know how to win, he knew how to "not lose" which is different than winning. Teams learn what it takes to win. They're learning. The late 80s Bills learned how to win and develop a winning attitude that led to the early 90s Bills.
  25. They're 2 OT field goals and a week 1 Start by Fitzy away from 5-5. You add some pass rush and lock down the right side of the line and that almost 5-5 could be 7-3 with those additions. Playing out these next 6 games tough is going to be key to see if they can turn it around.
