  1. Um he won a J-Co championship and the SEC West, and is about to win SEC and then go to the National Championship. Thats not nothing not to mention going 12-0 in the regular season in the SEC.
  2. Taking Newton in the top 10 is exactly how you make sure he is an unsuccessful QB in the NFL, imo. He needs at least a year to learn before he is ready for the NFL, and needs to earn a big deal instead of getting handed one by default, again imo. Buddy Nix was part of one of the last executive teams that was able to sit a top 10 QB for an entire year with Rivers. Maybe Nix could make this happen but when a franchise takes a QB in the Top 10 and gives them 25-50 million in guaranteed money there is a huge amount of pressure to put them on the field immediately and I don't think anyone would say Newton is ready to start in the NFL week 1 2011. Thats the kind of QB you take with a top10 pick. Tennessee could take Newton in the mid 1st, thats the earliest I see him going. I hope that a team is willing to follow the Jets model and wants to trade up to get Prince or Patrick Peterson and the Bills are able to make a trade and parlay that into additional picks. However Fairly is a beast and if he is there when the Bills pick it would be hard to trade out, I would feel OK passing on Clayborn or Dareaus if you can get Akeem Ayers or Von Miller in the mid first. But there is a lot of football to be played and maybe we pick #9-#11 anyway and "reach" a little on Ayers or Miller there anyway. The hype around the 2 corners can work to the Bills benefit as far as possible trades go.
  3. I'm not the Defensive coordinator. I'm not consider changing the D alignment. I would keep a 4-3 next year. The question is if Edwards wants to try the conversion to a 3-4 again, I assume that is the end state for his scheme.
  4. The problem is Scott and Wilson is arguably a better Safety Combo than Whitner and Byrd. I'm OK with him being extended for middle of the road money, because he is a middle of the road to slightly above average Safety. He plays well but he doesn't cause turnovers or make plays on the run or blitz behind the line of scrimmage. Those 3 types of plays are what makes a safety an elite safety and worth elite money. Its not money though, no sense in losing depth if you can sign him for a reasonable price.
  5. Out of curiosity where did Love go on the draft? Late 1st round? Is there a link to the whole Sim?
  6. I've seen 0 games. I don't watch ACC football, that would be like poking my eyes with a fork repeatedly. I have watched about 15 different Quinn clips. Did you see how he performed last week? How about the week before? He is really developing his chip dip techniques on the couch. Why you would draft a huge risk like that over a less risky Clayborn or Dareus, which I have seen play in many games because they play in legitimate football conferences, is beyond me. It is a horrible idea. The point is this franchise can't take another whiff with their first round pick. You can not deny that there is a GIGANTIC amount of risk drafting a player that has been sitting around the dorm room the months leading up to the draft as opposed to playing and getting better. However just like TNT the power can be used for good, but it is very risky. Quinn is going to fall like Randy Moss if not further. Thats not a fair assessment Dr. He had some nice throws and really got most of his rushing yards on 1 play. Alabama was committed to making him beat them with his arm This is his stat line incase you didn't see the game: 13/20 216yards passing 65.0% 3TDs 22 carries for 39yards 1.8 ypc 12yards is the longest 1TD I did and I'd be suprised that anyone that watched the game would say that.
  7. I'm not advocating for a CB. Draftnicks are creaming in their shorts over Patrick Peterson and now Prince as in some are saying they both have higher ceilings than Revis. If I'm drafting for the Bills I take all CBs off my draft board because you're right the needs are too great at LB and DE. I would be fine if 4 LBs and 2 D-line man were taken in this draft. However Nix is an unknown quality anything can be expected including one of these CBs or AJ Green being selected. Be prepared to have your mind blown when Nix is picking that's mostly what I'm trying to say.
  8. I don't think drafting Spiller was a luxury pick and I wouldn't think taking the BPA if it's a CB is "luxury" pick, but you know Bills fans heads would explode if Nix took a CB with the first. Especially if an impact Front7 player like Fairley was on the board. I would think it shows a strategy of Nix taking the BPA however the needs of this team are Front7 and if there is a tie between a CB and D-Line you have to go D-Line. If Fairley plays like he did today in the SEC championship and the National Title game he'll shoot to the top like Suh. Btw Reggie White played on 4-3 his whole career.
  9. Shhh I secretly would be happy if the Bills took him in the second but I can't say that as it would ruin my credibility. The problem isn't his throwing motion it's his footwork. I think Chan and team could straighten out the footwork while Fitzy starts. The kid is special but is risky. The Buffalo media would stir up a controversy faster than you can fry up a chicken finger sub at Jim's steakout. Quinn and Newton is like drafting TNT twice it could be highly explosive. Which could be a good thing or bad thing if it's not handeled properly. I'm glad you're not the Bills GM drafting Newton with 1st is a worse idea than taking Quinn with the first.
  10. I can get on the nasty train and Fairley is the nastiest in this draft. . I couldnt wait until he rag dolls Brady to the ground and "accidentally" steps on his leg on the way up. I don't care if it's dirty if he is Buffalo Bill.
  11. Or watch these clips and read this assessment which I agree with : http://player-rater.blogspot.com/2010/09/robert-quinn-2011-draft-scouting-report.html At first glance, his stats appear to be great; 52 tackles, 11 sacks Sophomore year. But let's take a closer look. Let's divide the stats from all of the North Carolina games last year based on the strength of the teams Quinn played against. Against The Citadel, East Carolina, Virginia, Georgia Southern, Duke, Boston College, and North Carolina State (7 games), he got ALL of his 11 sacks and 33 of his tackles; against Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Florida State, Miami, Connecticut, and Georgia Tech (6 games), he got a mere 19 tackles and 0 sacks! That is a staggering dispersion of stats between teams he played! He made absolutely no impact in games against good teams, yet he dominated against bad teams.
  12. Yeah Fairly was a beast. He is a huge reason Auburn was able to come back. His red zone play, changed the outcome of the game including the strip, sack, fumble + fumble recovery! If the Bills are in a 4-3 with Kyle and Fairley or a 3-4 with Fairly at a DE, and this is going to sound crazy at first Kyle at the otherDE, and more of big body run stuffer NT, that would be a pretty sick 3-4 D-Line that would free up LBs for 1-1s or 1onRBsorTEs. I don't think Fairley projects well to a 3-4 DE but he can also play DT in a 4-3 like he does now. I think he is talented enough to play either position. On a 3-4 where do you put Kyle? I don't think he would thrive at NT like he is at DT. 3-4 DE would seem to be a better fit?
  13. Clayborn, Dareus, Bowers. Quinn is too risky for this franchise. You can't spend a top 10 pick on a guy that has played as much football as the GM picking him in the 7 months leading up to the draft, that is a recipe for disaster. Here is a fan assessment of Quinn that I agree with: http://player-rater.blogspot.com/2010/09/robert-quinn-2011-draft-scouting-report.html My main issue with Quinn is his stats. At first glance, his stats appear to be great; 52 tackles, 11 sacks Sophomore year. Here are some highlights of Quinn Robert Quinn vs. Virginia Robert Quinn vs. Boston College Overall, I am not very high on Quinn because of his lack of success against the decent FBS teams. The fact is, North Carolina had a pretty easy out of conference schedule last year, and he played in the ACC to boot. If he played in the SEC or the Big Ten, I don't think he would be generating much buzz at all for next year's draft, and he would be a mid first rounder at best. Maybe, if I had seen one of those unimportant games against easy teams, I might have a higher opinion of Quinn, but from what I have seen from Quinn, he makes no impact on game by game basis. NFL Comparison: Vernon Gholston. They have similar skills sets, and Gholston took over the Big Ten in one of its worst years. The Big Ten has improved, and now Quinn is dominating a pretty bad ACC conference. The outlook doesn't seem promising.
  14. That is the big question. And that effects draft needs. If they want to move to a 3-4 they no exaggeration have to draft atleast 4 LBs with OLB being the unquestioned #1 priority. We don't have a 3-4 OLB on the roster. You have to draft 4 and hope two pan out as starters and atleast 1 of the other ones can be developed for depth and Special Teams If they stick with the 4-3 then Marcell Dareus and Nick Fairley make more sense. Problem is there really isn't an OLB ranked high enough for a top 10 pick, and LT are questionable. (secretly I think we could be in for another "luxury" pick, as in AJ Green or Patrick Peterson as they would be the true Best Player Available if the Bills pick in the Top5)
  15. Or Maybe you weren't watching other QBs, or maybe your bunny ears didn't work well. Whatever it is I've seen Jim Kelly overthrow James Lofton who was open about 60 yards down the field and the ball sailed about 10-15 yards past him, to call him "fairy armed" is to post one of the silliest post in TBD history.
  16. They're both making big plays in this game but Fairley is making bigger plays. That excessive celebration penalty was BS. Fairley had a dirty rep but this guy is stepping up big time. One of these guy could be the Bills first round pick. Also please quit the Robert Quinn talk he is too risky with too short of a resume to take in the first round.
  17. I don't know why revisionist history you're working on Jim Kelly was one of the strongest armed QBs in NFL history. .
  18. After Auburn gets smoked today and if LSU leapfrogs to #2 TCU can blow a gasket or 12.
  19. No it wasn't a luxury pick. Fred Jackson is 30. Please move on nothing to see here.
  20. Same can be said for Carolina.
  21. +1 Quinn is a scary proposition. He has played as much football as the posters on this board the 2 months. Drafting him 3rd is super risky. The Bills don't need another whiff in the first round. STAY AWAY FROM QUINN if you want to win. I also think about 20 other teams will also pass on him, he has a tiny resume and a huge off the field issues. A team like Tennessee that has a HC that is in Control and has respect in the locker room (what other HC can basically kick a Franchise QB off the team and the team get his back.) and take a risk on a boom or bust player like Quinn. He may be a pro bowler or he may be a huge bust. In this situation I'd take Mallet and let him learn for a year like Philip Rivers. #2 If Love is there in the second that would be amazing and yes, wow you'd get to see Bell and Love battle out for LT and worse case either one should be a good RT. Immediate upgrade that can give the Bills a Better chance at winning. I actually think Love is going to go 15-25. This is a weak Tackle draft and teams are going to reach for Tackle help that goes Carimi too. If Love or Carimi aren't there I like Martez Wilson, kid works hard on a bad team. #3 In this draft Weeden would be a horrible pick! I would throw stuff at the TV if that happened. Weeden is not an upgrade over Brohm or Fitzy, NO NO NO NO!!! Dontay Moch! all the way. In this draft I would take Mason Foster though, I doubt he falls to the 3rd but if he did that would be the pick, Moch would add pass rusher and Foster is a natural born leader and tackling machine. You won't see Foster being dragged down the field for an extra 3 yards, he will put RBs and TEs on their behinds. My draft would be #3 Ryan Mallet #35 Martez Wilson OLB #67 Mason Foster OLB "QB of the future" + Sacks Sacks and more Sacks!!! You can pick up a RT in round 4.
  22. Is this post even worth a post? Wait, is my post even worth a post ? Almost everything Sully says is negative. Why so negative? Wait are you Sully in disguise based on your posts it would add up. I have my eye on you.
  23. Me Too, ESPN has become some irresponsible with its reporting, they need to have their hand smacked. I mean it seems the "reporters" read something on a blog, message board, or get information from an agent and just run with it without fact checking. Plus they are clearly stirring the pot of controversy and fanning any flames that they find as opposed to just reporting on the situation.
  24. Your reading comprehension is lacking youngster. 1. There is no additional bowl game. 2. If Auburn, Oregon, TCU and Boise St. all win out. Then 2 non-Qs would be in. In this system #2 Auburn vs #3TCU in the first game and #1Oregon vs #4TCU in the second game. It seems like the only person that gives a **** what the #5-9 school's think is a fictional idiot that would fictionally complain about anything. Not to mention you would have to have something wrong with you to feel that the winner of this system is not a deserved national champion or Argue that the #5 team should would the national championship. LSU is the #5 team and I didn't see or hear anyone complaining that they should be in the National Championship game today.
  25. I'm glad that you have started to realize that a blanket policy of strategically losing to improve your draft position is not a sound strategy. If there is a GM that believes that there is a once a generation player, like you believe Luck is then I can see how this strategy of losing can be discussed. It is a very risky strategy but you would have to be fairly certain that the player is worth the risk and that they will be entering the draft. This would not happen but once in ten or twenty years and certainly not a sound annual strategy once a team is eliminated from the playoffs. This is not meant as a personal attack but its clear you have never participated as a player or a coach in a team sport or you would never say this. There is nothing worse than battling for 60 minutes and losing. The point of suiting up is to win and when a team loses its like all the energy is sucked out of the team's life. Losing continuity makes players lose confidence in the coaching, ownership, system and themselves. You can't play in the NFL if you don't have confidence and confidence is gained through winning. You can't just wipe the slate clean in January and start over again in training camp, the stink and stain of losing is difficult to remove.
