Moch Draft with Bills Picking at #12
1B4IDie replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I quoted was this: At first glance, his stats appear to be great; 52 tackles, 11 sacks Sophomore year. But let's take a closer look. Let's divide the stats from all of the North Carolina games last year based on the strength of the teams Quinn played against. Against The Citadel, East Carolina, Virginia, Georgia Southern, Duke, Boston College, and North Carolina State (7 games), he got ALL of his 11 sacks and 33 of his tackles; against Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Florida State, Miami, Connecticut, and Georgia Tech (6 games), he got a mere 19 tackles and 0 sacks! That is a staggering dispersion of stats between teams he played! He made absolutely no impact in games against good teams, yet he dominated against bad teams. And what I said is Robert Quinn is a gifted athletic but this franchise doesn't need to risk its 1st round pick on a player that has been sitting on the couch watching football for the 8 months leading up to the draft. And I still stand by that. Because we're not in the Top 10, taking the best NFL RT at #12 isn't a horrible reach. Also because we're picking #12 in this draft, we don't have to worry about it, Robert Quinn went #9 to the Washington Redskins. Quinn and Orakpo is trouble for the NFC East. Here is the first 3 rounds if anyone is interested: 1 Carolina Andrew Luck QB Stanford 2 Cincinnati Nick Fairley DT43 Auburn 3 Denver Da'Quan Bowers DE34 Clemson 4 Detroit Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska 5 Arizona Patrick Peterson CB LSU 6 Dallas Marcell Dareus DE34 Alabama 7 Tennessee Bruce Carter OLB43 North Carolina 8 San Francisco A.J. 1 12 Buffalo Anthony Castonzo OT Boston College 2 44 Buffalo Cameron Heyward DE34 Ohio State 3 76 Buffalo Dontay Moch OLB34 Nevada 4 108 Buffalo Nate Irving ILB North Carolina State 4 109 Buffalo Wayne Daniels OLB34 TCU 5 140 Buffalo Preston Dial TE Alabama 6 172 Buffalo Terry Griffin DT34 Elizabeth City State 7 197 Buffalo Greg Salas WRF Hawaii I don't know if Cam Heyward will fall that far but hey Jeremy Beal would be there at 44. I love getting Castonzo, I love getting Heyward, I love love love getting Moch, I love love love love getting Wayne Daniels in the 4th, Terry Griffin is gigantic. Originally QB was ranked 4 but and we got Pat Delvin, QB Delaware in the 4th. I changed the need to 9, I don't think taking a late round QB is going to help this team long or short term. Pat Delvin is this year's unheralded interesting prospect. I would rather have Wayne Daniels in the 4th. Devlin is a guy that can end up being somebody at QB, I don't know if its an upgrade over Brian Brohm though. That would actually be kind of interesting if it did happen though. Preston Dial is an interesting H-Back, I don't know if he would be a good fit, not as good at blocking as Rocky but a better pass catcher. I'm sure he could be a good Special Teamer. For all the "lose out" crowd, this draft looks better than some mocks where we picked in the top5. I would be so excited if the 2011 draft looked like this. Marshawn Lynch for Wayne Daniels in 3 years would like a steal for the Bills

Bills Players Sing 12 Days of Christmas

Didn't want to watch the videos From the still, if thats not Rex' wife its her twin sister. I wonder how this is going to play out. . . Are those adult ads or is it just fetish "porn"? If those are ads does that mean she is banging other dudes? This is really weird he has been a coach in the NFL for most of his life, and married to her before that. Why the hell would they make these videos and put them on the internet? Logically it couldn't be her, but it freaking looks like here. Usually I don't care about this stuff but this is blowing my mind. Who can come up with best game day sign? I would have watched the videos if this Michelle Ryan were in them: http://topfamous.net/2602-Michelle-Ryan.html

You can continue your irrelevant list all you like, nothing you mentioned has anything to do with Lee getting in and out of cuts, and getting open when a safety is covering him. Lee can run real fast in a straight line in college and the pros. His game hasn't evolved in the last 7 seasons. That has to do with personal dedication to the craft of being a WR, not his O-Co, QB, O-Line, RB, defense, HC, GM or owner.

2009 The Bills were setting franchise records for least offensive yards, least passing yards, least passing TDs, least receiving TDs,least first downs. 2010 The Bills are setting franchise records for most passing TDs in a row, most receiving TDs in a season, and coming close to TD passing records for a whole season in only 14 games. Since the Pittsburgh game, the 2010 team has learned how to get to the opposing QB. The team has also learned how to protect the QB better, combined with Fitzy being an aware QB and not turning into a statue under pressure. The games are actually fun to watch. So the answer is yes it is very different.

Speaking of helmets coming off, didn't Benedict Smerlas pull off his helmet and try to block a pass once?

My Mock Offseason and draft
1B4IDie replied to MexicanBuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great first post. Btw what's the rational behind drafting 2 defensive backs? I would modify those picks to additional depth at d-line, lb, or Oline. Taking a safety in the draft is a good idea if the Bills let Donte walk. Otherwise we have 4 starts at safety and wouldn't need to draft a 5th. -
My Mock Offseason and draft

1. GB doesn't get any good Free Agents generally either. There is Reggie White, then Rod Woodson and not much in-between. 2. The Bills are in the top half of the league in payroll, actually number 12, I believe. So the myth that Ralph is cheap and doesn't spend money doesn't really work when you look at the facts. 3. It's getting to the point where, Buffalo is becoming the Ireland of cities in America. Soon there will be more people born in Erie County NY that don't live in Erie County, NY than the actual residence of Erie County, NY. So most Bills fans have already listened to your warning and left. 4. Buffalo can still sign quality if not heralded FA. A second tier LB, or TE wants to come to Buffalo because they know there isn't much competition to earn PT. A FA that want PT and wants to perform well ro elevate their status and get a better 3rd contract knows if you come do Buffalo you're going to be a starter at TE, RT, or LB. It's very likely we will be able to bring in a guy that comes to work with a lunch pal not a marquee sign. The Bills are better for it IMO. -
1. What decisions? Ralph Wilson is not involved in the say to day operations as much as he get credit or discredit for. The team will function just fine without him. There will be No legal battles, or moves that cannot be made because of owner approval. 2. From what 8and8 said. Subtract the stadium, that Rich Ralph stadium is hanging on by a thread. A new owner that comes in with a stadium plan will probably be approved over a similar offer with no stadium. Add the merchandise sales, Bills are actually in the top half of merchandise sales, with a decade of horrible teams.

A respected coach was interviewed about how he accessed a team throughout the season, I can't remember who Parcells or Gruden or The Jaw, They said they broke the season down into 4, 4 game periods. In each period there were goals set for the team and there were personal decisions and grades. 1st QTR 0-4, F 2nd QTR 0-4 (2 OT losses and a shoulda won) D+ 3rd QTR 2-2, C 4th QTR worst case 2-2, my prediction 3-1 (NJ SUCKS are going down) or a Goal Post tearing down, streak ending 4-0. C, B+, or A When you break it down that way you can see the improvement. Hopefully that can carry over to 2011. I think so.

We will find out how important Lee Evans is
1B4IDie replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well you see, he is doubled all game . . .and uh . . .the play calling is . . . uh . . plays that are called . . .and uh Fitzbiggons . . . uh . .He is the QB and . . uh . . did I mention he is doubled all game. Without Lee Evans the Bills will be the worst team in the NFL based on the litany of compelling reasons I just gave you. Why don't you understand? -
Welcome to the board, you're in for a wake up call. Stacked at LB? I guess you've spent your life leading up to registering on this board smoking crack.
-
You need to change your moniker with posts like that. Its insulting to the name Fitzmagic. The only thing that Von Miller and Aaron Maybin have in common is that their last names both start with an M.

After today, Bills one step closer to shopping Evans
1B4IDie replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that when the Safety sees that Lee is running deep the safety is going to run up the field on that side because that is the safety's responsibility. I agree that Lee has a reputation as a burner and he has to expected more than if David Nelson were lined up wide. However that is the saftey's role if David Nelson is lined up outside and starts running a fly route, or CJ Spiller lines up Wide (Which worked 2 or 3 times last game) and starts running a fly route the safety is going to stay and help in coverage if that is the defense that is called. If they start bringing the safteys in to pass rush or blitz, then the offense has to demonstrate they can beat on on ones. I think Fitzy is demonstrating he is not afraid to throw the ball and our young inexperienced and Hungry WRs have a few games on film that show they are not afraid to make a play on the ball. I contend that the offense will have to adjust to this lack of respect of speed however in my opinion this is not a very high hurdle, the offense will be able to keep the ball moving as demonstrated against the #4 Total Defense Team (Miami) that is the #6 against the pass and #6 against the run. The Patriots #30 defense against the pass isn't anything to fear without Lee Evans. I fully expect the offense to keep the ball moving without Lee Evans. -

Kelly, you're forgetting you're trying to explain this concept to people who see nothing more than Evans' contract and scream and whine to cut him when he doesn't post 100-1500-12 every season. The reason it is difficult to explain is that is not true or logical. Lee Evans is not doubled on every play. A Safety on the Half of the Field that Lee Evans is on (make that QTR since Lee doesn't move inside the harsh marks too often) has other responsibilities besides Lee Evans. Where do you think the Safety plays against the other 31 teams? Do you think they're hanging out on the sideline talking to the coach during the play, unless there is a speedster on the field? Its foolish to think that a safety on the side of the field that Lee Evans is on is a special defense that is game planned to stop Lee Evans. The Safety gets the name safety because their primary duty is to support the CB in pass coverage. A Safety is a Defensive Back. You're insulting the preparation and intelligence of every D-Co that plays the Bills. Ryan Fitzpatrick is not very accurate past 15-20 yards(some might say inside the 15-20 yard mark either but thats a different story.) The Bills are running the deep play just to keep defenses honest (Meaning a safety plays safety not cheats on run support) but do you think that they are scared of 44 catches and 800 yard average receiver? Or are the planning for a guy that has a TD in 4 straight games(David Nelson) and the other receiver that has more yards and catches (Stevie)? Do you think they don't know Fitzy's tendencies in the games over the last three years and that the long bomb is not one of them. Its fan boy mentality that continues the myth that "Lee Evans is doubled on every play." Then parroted back as an obvious statement of fact. It is not reality. -

1B4IDie replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You got me I was exaggerating but the greater point is still true, there is not much of a market for Lee Evans and there are very few teams that are interested in a Lee Evans with the # of more complete WRs hitting the Free Agency market in 2011 or whenever Free Agency happens. Does it make sense to move Lee Evans for a 5th? I don't think so, he has more value on the roster, at only 4mil a season than a 3rd day draft pick. If a team has an under performing LB, and wants to trade the under performing LB for an under perfoming WR(Lee Evans) it may not be a prudent move. This teams needs to mold young talent not take on that burden. We need to discuss the specific players involved to really make an assessment of a player for player deal. There is a whole string filled with double talk, double standards and unconvincing arguments where Kelly tries to protect Lee Evans as something more than he is, which is a guy that can run real fast, world class fast, in a straight line and not much more than that. You can rehash it here: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/124760-we-will-find-out-how-important-lee-evans-is/page__st__100 -
If the Bills beat the Pats next week, The Goal posts are coming down!!!
-
That is the best case scenario. Personally I think Lee mails it in the second half of the season. Don't get me wrong. He is a professorial he goes out there and plays, but he isn't exactly trying to over extend his athletic abilities to make a play for a team going no where fast the last 7 years. He will run a fly route when asked but thats about it. My greatest hope is that Lee Evans now sees potential with Fitzzy and works on his whole game. I feel like Lee Evans has been playing in 3rd gear for most of his career and you only see glimps off 5th gear. I hope that Lee does work on his entire game and plays in 5th and 6th gear on every play now that the Bills appear to be on the right path. They're going to go 5-3 in the second half of the season. If they do that for two halves of a season next year, they probably make the playoffs. Wow good post 8and8 and in general I never agree with you. Hats off! Lee Evans deserves a medal for playing football? Then you commend and agree with that silly statement?

1B4IDie replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are exactly right. Boldin, and moss are proven #1 WR's and were traded for so much less then a 2nd. So why would Lee Evans, someone that so many fans here believe is not a #1 WR and can be replaced easily by a bunch of UDFA's and a 7th rounder get more then those guys? Keep making your fantasy trades on Madden where you might be able to get the computer to agree to that deal, but in the real world, anything more then a 4th for Evans and Buddy Nix should be given the title of greatest Bills GM in history for fleecing an NFL team Exactly. If Someone offered a 3rd for Lee Evans, especially in this draft where there will be a ton of LB talent in the 2nd and 3rd the Bills would be foolish not to take the deal. However as The Ghost pointed out, there is no market for Lee Evans. No one wants him. No team would offer a 3rd or 4th for him. He is just another fast WR that is aging. What is Lee going to do when he can no longer outrun the coverage? He hasn't worked on the craft of WR, he doesn't go over the middle, He doesn't have good technique getting in and out of breaks, he hasn't demonstrated and ability to fight for the ball. He isn't going to get a huge contract when he becomes a free agent after 2012, from the Bills or anyone. Keeping him on the roster is prudent he is cheap and he is still fast (for now), trying to move him for a 4th is prudent, letting him walk after this contract is the end game. Unlike the players that have walked in the past, Lee's future in the NFL isn't bright, A Speedster that can no longer speed isn't going to produce anymore than he already hasn't produced. -
Since I'm not D-Co and I dont have to worry about job security, I run a full house blitz 75% of the time. If they score it will be quick which will give the offense more time to respond with a score. Go after Brady with everything you have on almost every play. Force them to max protect and let McKelvin, Florence, Whitner or Byrd cover. We have nothing to lose. It's high risk high reward. We've been able to get to the QBs since the Pittsburgh game.

1. He absolutely does not get doubled on every play, that is a myth. 2. A safety covering the deep ball doesn't prevent great WRs from getting open. Actually WRs fighting to catch the ball is a recipe for success. Depending on outrunning your pass coverage is not a recipe for success. -

So when a safety covers Stevie Johnson over top with a CB in primary coverage that doesn't count as double coverage because of the play that was called or the package that was in? But if that happened to Lee it would be double coverage? Sounds like a FOX news kind of fair and balanced. -

Really? What was the coverage on the dropped TD pass in OT against the Stillers?
