He had play early in the game and just smoked the lineman and forces the QB to dump it early. I think Bowers may have hurt his Top5 status his so-so effort in his bowl game. Lets see if Dareus can make an impact in this game. He had a huge impact in the national championship game last year.

There are other means of adding a TE, I think Free Agency is the best route for this team. I don't believe we need to draft a TE. We have drafted way too many TEs. These are the TEs they have picked since 2004: Year Rnd Pick Pos 2009 4 121 Shawn Nelson TE 2008 4 132 Derek Fine TE 2007 7 222 Derek Schouman TE 2005 3 86 Kevin Everett TE 2004 4 109 Tim Euhus TE Most have been a waste of a pick. The Problem is you have to take Lance Kendricks with the second round pick he most likely won't be there in the 3rd round. If Kendricks somehow falls to the 66-69 then would probably be a better idea, however you might lose out on Dontay Moch or Mason Foster. I think the second round pick is better used on one of these players than Kendricks: DeMarcus Love Justin Houston Jason Pinkston Ryan Kerrigan Travis Lewis Cameron Heyward Martez Wilson Allen Bailey Drake Nevis Corey Liuget Bruce Carter Its a trade off. The team has so many needs on defense and TE is a position than usually takes years to blossom, There are very few rookie TEs that come in day 1 and perform. They have to pass block, run block, chip block, understand when they are the hot read, run effective routes, catch the ball, practice ball security, run with the ball after the catch, and usually block and tackle on special teams at NFL speed. Its so hard to find good-great TEs because they have to do everything. I agree with skipping a TE in the 2011 draft. Here is a list of Big Name Free Agent TEs in 2011: Vernon Davis, SF Zach Miller, OAK Owen Daniels, HOU Kevin Boss, NYG Second tier Free Agent TEs: Dante Rosario, CAR Desmond Clark, CHI Tony Scheffler, DET Marcedes Lewis, JAC Brad Cottam, KC Anthony Fasano, MIA Matt Spaeth, PIT Daniel Fells, STL Jerramy Stevens, TB Bo Scaife, TEN Chan's offensive reputation will likely make Buffalo a more attractive location for one of these guys, They pretty much will step in and start with very little competition.

Watch Wayne Daniels for TCU as a possible Bills pick in the 3rd or 4th round, team captain and makes some big plays.

Tentative 2011 Opponents (Assuming there's a 2011 season)

Makes sense because NFL fans might change the channel on Thanksgiving. -
WRONG! http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nwe/draft.htm They do pick in the 20s and they tend to trade down not up. I wonder why that is? Maybe because there is very little difference in quality from the #3 pick to the #20 pick. The Patriots have actually traded the early picks they received from trades for more picks. Allowing them to take 7 players in the second round in the last two years instead of a top 10 pick. The difference between picking #3 or picking #8 picks has very little effect on the quality of the draft class.

A WIN THIS WEEK WOULD BE DEVISTATING!!!!!

I concur that Walter Football is clueless. FFLToolbox isn't bad, but a lot of that stuff is rehashed from other sites. http://www.nfldraft101.com/ seems to skip to a beat of their own drummer and waits until the college year is over to put together profiles instead of regurgitating the player's High School profile, to their Freshman profile, to their Sophomore profile to their Junior Profile which happens on a lot of the "scouting" sites. Two Examples are Gabe Carimi and Ryan Mallet of the regurgitation. If you look at their High School profiles you can see the same terms used word for word, as if playing elite college football with elite coaching hasn't had any effect on their performance over the last 3-4 years. I watched 6 Arkansas games this season and the "accuracy" knock on Mallet doesn't ring true to my eyes. I actually think Luck has more accuracy issues than Mallet. With my own eyes I've seen Luck throw behind receivers or hit them where they can't run after the catch very often. I'm not saying Mallet is a better prospect I'm just saying many of these site rehash others reports instead of doing any scouting themselves. -

Not really devastating. I ran some mocks in order to see the actual difference in the draft, as opposed to foolish notions that moving up and down a few picks has some huge effect. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/125143-mock-draft-with-bills-picking-3-9/ Basically its the difference between getting Fairley or Bowers instead of Marcell Dareaus or Anthony Constanzo. All 4 players will have good to great NFL careers. IMO Bowers and Fairley will have greater impacts. The rest of the draft works mostly the same because in the 4th round there really isn't a consensus BPA it comes to the needs of the team and the scouting department rating of the franchise. We could get the #2 Spot if we lose and Denver beats San Diego. Which is very much in the realm of the possible. Cinci should have a stronger Strength of Schedule then the Bills and will lose to the Ravens. If you want to root for something root for Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos. If you want to root against something root against Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers. Either way it will not be devastating. with the Vikings winning last week worst\best case is #8 and the best\worst case is #2. Those six spots have very little long term difference. -

This is about as cake as it gets in the NFL without playing the NFC West. -
Easley update in case you missed it on the homepage

What is there to get over? This was a 5-11 team by all accounts. They performed better than expected if anything. I'm glad they encouraged Easely to attend all the meetings. That will go a long way in his development. -
Wayne Daniels, TCU. Or Sam Acho Are two targets for that Beastmode pick. I think Daniels will be there even if Seattle makes the playoffs and gets the 21st pick. Sam Acho would be gone by the 21st pick in the 4th but could be there if Seattle misses the playoffs.

Mock Draft with Bills Picking #3 & #9
1B4IDie replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. Basically if Fairely & Bowers are both gone, Trading down is a good option. If Fairely & Bowers are both gone, Taking a QB wouldn't be horrible but not ideal IMO. -
If you want to see specific impact as far as available players goes thats what this string is intended for: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/125143-mock-draft-with-bills-picking-3-9/ Getting Bowers in the 2-4 range is the biggest impact. The rest of the draft works out very similarly in the later rounds whether we pick #2 or #9. It wouldn't be the end of the world if we won.

Mock Draft with Bills Picking #3 & #9
1B4IDie replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Moving down makes more sense in 2011. There is a ton of defensive talent that will be there in rounds 2-4. If the opportunity to trade down presents itself in 2011, it makes much more sense to get more picks in rounds 2-4, than trading many valuable picks to bring in 1 player. -
Mock Draft with Bills Picking #3 & #9
1B4IDie replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its hard to represent my personal philosophy on drafting a QB in the Mock system. If Luck is there take him. (not gonna happen) If Fairley and Bowers are off the board in the first, I wouldn't mind Mallet or Newton being the first round pick. Taking a QB after the 1st round is a wasted pick, I wouldn't think they would have any short or long term potential over Fitz, Brohm & Brown. So I set the QB to lowest priority. In the Mock where the Bills picked #9, Cam Newton went off the board at #6. So I wouldn't hate taking Ryan Mallet over Marcell Dareaus in that situation. But Marcell Dareaus imo would be a great addition for the Bills to actually stop the run in the future, won't really be a sack artist but will improve run stuffing tremendously. They all have Luck going #1 to Carolina I used to be of the Luck will stay in college crowd, however with Singletary out in San Fran. I wouldn't be surprised if Harbaugh slides over to the 9ers. If Luck is going to learn a new offensive system, why not learn one in the pros instead of college. Obviously this is all conjecture until the end of January. -
Mock Draft with Bills Picking #3 & #9
1B4IDie replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes he projects as a RushBacker in a 3-4. So OLB. But the ideal guy to be able to put a hand down and rush or stand up. Having a primer hybrid player like that is key to a 3-4. You can move him all over the field and the offense always has to adjust coverage to wherever he is. It would be out of the Llammar Woodley (6-2 265), Terrell Suggs (6-3 260)mold. I set TE as a need #9. I don't believe we need to draft a TE. We have drafted way too many TEs. We need to find a TE through Free Agency. Good to know, I didn't see Cinci jump us on the SOS list, makes sense though with the Ravens and Steelers twice and the AFC East. So that would mean our best case scenario is pick#2 is Denver wins and Cinci loses. Here is a mock with the Bills Picking @ #2 1 2 Buffalo Nick Fairley DE34 Auburn 2 34 Buffalo Travis Lewis ILB Oklahoma 3 66 Buffalo Dontay Moch OLB34 Nevada 4 98 Buffalo Tyron Smith OT USC 4 109 Buffalo Anthony Gray DT34 Southern Miss 5 130 Buffalo Andrew Rich FS BYU 6 162 Buffalo Edmund Gates WRF Abilene Christian 7 198 Buffalo Kenny Rowe OLB34 Oregon -

Actually I've been throwing Rich Ralph Stadium out for awhile, I'm seeing if it will catch on. I think its more accurate with a sense of history. This is the first time someone pointed it out. But yeah Arthur Murry is dance. Arthur Bryant's is the BBQ. Definitely get their "sweet heat" if you go. http://www.arthurbryantsbbq.com/ This is how: -
http://drafttek.com/new%20simulator/ Assuming the Vikes Lose to the Eagles on Tuesday(pussification) There are 11 teams with 5 wins or less (so much for parity) The 9ers play the Cards and the Lions will play the Vikes so there will be at worst\best 9 teams with 5 wins or less. If the Bills beat the Jets the best\worst case scenario is the Bills pick #9 I'm counting that the Bungels will lose to the Ravens and the Panthers have the #1 pick locked. It is possible the Broncos beat the Chargers. If the Bills lose to the Jets that would move the Bills up to the #3 pick Here is a mock with the Bills picking #3: 1 3 Buffalo Da'Quan Bowers DE34 Clemson 2 35 Buffalo Travis Lewis ILB Oklahoma 3 67 Buffalo Dontay Moch OLB34 Nevada 4 99 Buffalo Tyron Smith OT USC 4 109 Buffalo Anthony Gray DT34 Southern Miss 5 131 Buffalo Vincent Brown WRF San Diego State 6 163 Buffalo Mario Fannin RBF Auburn 7 198 Buffalo Michael Egnew TE Missouri Here is a mock with the Bills picking #4 (I ran this by accident) 1 4 Buffalo Da'Quan Bowers DE34 Clemson 2 36 Buffalo Nate Solder OT Colorado 3 68 Buffalo Dontay Moch OLB34 Nevada 4 100 Buffalo Mark Herzlich ILB Boston College 4 109 Buffalo Anthony Gray DT34 Southern Miss 5 132 Buffalo Andrew Rich FS BYU 6 164 Buffalo Edmund Gates WRF Abilene Christian 7 198 Buffalo Kenny Rowe OLB34 Oregon Here is a mock with the Bills picking #9 1 9 Buffalo Marcell Dareus DE34 Alabama 2 41 Buffalo Nate Solder OT Colorado 3 73 Buffalo Dontay Moch OLB34 Nevada 4 105 Buffalo Mark Herzlich ILB Boston College 4 109 Buffalo Anthony Gray DT34 Southern Miss 5 137 Buffalo Vincent Brown WRF San Diego State 6 169 Buffalo Brooks Reed OLB34 Arizona 7 198 Buffalo Will Hill FS Florida Wayne Daniels from TCU is available at 109 in all Mocks (The Beastmode pick, which I would take instead of Anthony Gray) Anyway, besides Getting Bowers over Dareus. Which would be amazing, the rest of the drafts pans out mostly the same. Plus I think Dontay Moch will be gone before the 3rd. Donta Hightower is there with the Bills Picking #9 instead inplace of Moch. And Mason Foster (me likely) would be there with the Bills picking #3\#4 in place of Moch.

Who is an easier out on paper that will make all the home fans feel better? Did you ever think of that? The concept of the Bills having no shot to play a national televised game is strange. -

Yeah Because Thanksgiving games are filled with great matchups and thrilling games. CBS has the Dallas Thanksgiving game in 2011. That usually means they'll schedule an AFC team. There are two AFC teams that play in Dallas in 2011. Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins. -
This is how you get your defense better in a hurry: Year Rnd Pick Pos 2010 1 27 Devin McCourty DB 2010 2 42 Rob Gronkowski TE 2010 2 53 Jermaine Cunningham LB 2010 2 62 Brandon Spikes LB 2009 2 34 Patrick Chung DB 2009 2 40 Ron Brace DT 2009 2 41 Darius Butler DB 2009 2 58 Sebastian Vollmer T

And this is how they did it: Year Rnd Pick Pos 2010 2 42 Rob Gronkowski TE 2010 2 53 Jermaine Cunningham LB 2010 2 62 Brandon Spikes LB 2009 2 34 Patrick Chung DB 2009 2 40 Ron Brace DT 2009 2 41 Darius Butler DB 2009 2 58 Sebastian Vollmer T Trading down and making 7 second round picks the last 2 years.

I don't think playing this game like the 3rd PreSeason game does any harm. Put your starters out there to begin, then rotate in your prospects. The Jets have nothing to play for either.
-
The Bills have taken 2 first round picks in the entire Super Bowl era. The Bills have basically been irrelevant for the entire Super Bowl history era except for the time that 1 of those QBs led them to 4 Straight Super Bowls. JP Lossman was clearly a mistake. I never said they won't play well either.
-
I never made that argument don't put words in my mouth and argue a point I'm not making. If you think Matt Ryan and Big Ben haven't improved their game from their rookie year I can't help you. Ofcourse a rookie can come in and help. The point is Matty Ice and Big Ben took years to get to where they are now today. They didn't walk into the League throwing the ball over 33 Times a game and putting the game on their shoulders. Those teams, especially Flacco relied on the run game and defense.
