  1. Nanker where have you been, buddy ? There will be no FA signings until there is a CBA. Zero. If the NFL owners go around the NFLPA and sign scab players then the NFL could lose their Rights to antitrust exemptions and that had huge legal ramifications. There is no FA or player trades at all this year until there is a CBA. "Until there is a new collective bargaining agreement -- which almost no one is expecting for months -- there will be no free agency. Teams will not be allowed to shop for new players, players will not be allowed to sign with new teams and any player movement will be shut down Until there is a new agreement, there will be no trades. Washington cannot trade Donovan McNabb or Albert Haynesworth; Denver cannot trade Kyle Orton; no trades of existing contracts will be permitted until a new agreement is signed -- whenever that is." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=schefter_adam&page=10spot/10wildcard
  2. Long run? One RB is 30 one is 24. I'm pretty sure Freddy has No Shot at winning anything in the longrun. I'm also pretty sure that Seagull fans are laughing heartily at the Buffalo Bills. They'd trade a 4th round pick just for that 1 play.
  3. He had two feet and atleast 1 knee, it was a catch.
  4. I wonder if the #58 jersey longs for the day when Martez Wilson will fill it out.
  5. Traitor! The NJ Fets cannot succeed I rather have Bellytits get another ring than the Foot Fets win another playoff game.
  6. Moffit is the real stud he makes Carimi look better. Moffit is like a D-line eraser. When I was focusing on Carimi in the bowl game, Moffit kept stealing my spotlight. An interior of Levitre, Wood and Moffit wood by world class for the next decade. If Bell can continue to improve the O-line is good. If you sign a decent RT in FA we'd be way above average at O-line. If somehow Moffit is there in th 4th its a steal. If Dontay Moch is gone in the 3rd, I want Moffit with 3.04.
  7. http://tarheelblue.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/quinn_robert01.html 270 on NC's site. I actually am afraid of him at #3 I think it's risky however. If you see him on YouTube there is no way he is 250.
  8. Kudos for calling that out. If a rookie LB can finance a LT by himself he doesn't need football or he is way overpaid. But if he could finesse, speed, and power an LT he'd be worth a 1st.
  9. Dumervil is 250 and Freeney is 270. I'm telling you, Von Miller is way too small to be a dominate OLB worthy of top 10 pick. Yes maybe we can play weak side OLB in a 4-3 like someone stated, but why would you draft a weak side 4-3 OLB that high? You take a 4-3 DE like Bowers in the first not a Von Miller. Thats the major point, if you're going to draft a first round LB he should be a big, bad nasty rush LB, that can power or finance a Tackle. Von Miller is a little speed rusher that gives up on backside pursuit not first round worthy.
  10. I noticed that too and it really shocked me. He basically gave up on any plays away from his side and just jogged in the general direction. Very disappointing. Its not like I'm watching OLB on backside pursuit all the time, but I have focused on OLB before. Von Miller really just gave up on the backside pursuit time and time again. I felt the same way, the whole game I thought, "This guy looks like a safety. He is giving huge cushions. What is he doing out there? What kind of prevent scheme is this?" The silly scouting reports call him a "shutdown corner" he displayed very little coverage ability in the Cotton Bowl. Maybe he had an off game but if you think of the Auburn game, his only memorable plays are very safety-ish plays where he tracked people down and stopped them from getting in the endzone. I would feel even worse if the Bills drafted Patrick Peterson after watching that game.
  11. It's not 2008. The days of complaining about our O-line are done. We have two top 40 picks and Karl Malone's bastard son. If we add a RT in round 2-3 like Solder or Love or FA and or we get a player like Moffit in the 4th the line goes from slightly below average to average to above average. In no way is it the 2008 death squad oline, there wouldn't even be 1 starter from that year on the roster anymore. Not to mention it is miles better than that Houston o line Carr had or that Cleveland oline that Ouch had. It's a different team. 2/5 of the O-line is good to great. 1/5 is average to improving. And with Hangman out 2/5 are ? That can be addressed in the offseason. If the rookie sits a year and let's the new RT or LG or both gel they will inherent a good to great line 2012.
  12. The two leading candidates for the Stanford HC and the Stanford OC and DC. They dont really play a complicated offense. Lots of Big heavy sets thenf short passes when the defense loads the box. The biggest problem is that 3-4 of their 200 man o-line is leaving. Unless someone cones in and tries to run a spread or an option they'll Luck will be fine, but he does have until the 15th to change his mind. Maybe the flip flop queers Carolina and we get him at #3. A boy can dream . . .
  13. It's not too early at all and You can take FA out of the equation before the draft. There is no FA until there is a CBA. There are no talks scheduled to discuss a CBA until after the Super Bowl. I'm sure there were people that thought Josh Freeman shouldn't be drafted in the Top 10 but I'd trade Marshawn Lynch for Josh Freeman in a heartbeat. Oh wait we already traded him for a 4th.
  14. Von Miller is #40 in Red, he just got a sack. He plays OLB and sometimes puts a hand down at DE for Texas A&M The NFL is bigger stronger and faster. Von Miller will be a good NFL ILB and could sometimes shift out for a speed rush but is not an every down NFL OLB There were a string of posters proposing we reach for him at #3 to play OLB but it's not a good idea there are a ton of good ILB in this draft in every round.
  15. I've seen Mocks with Devlin as the Bills 6th round pick. I watched a bit of that game and Devlin stares down the receivers something wicked. I rather take a QB with the first and get 355 pound NT Phil Taylor in the 6th.
  16. Thank you NoSaint. Plus he is not smaller than Poz or Von Miller, Willis is listed at 6-1 240 and looks it, and maybe put on a couple more pounds of muscle. Von Miller is talented, not as much as Willis IMO, but fact is he is not an NFL OLB. I don't know why this high scoring, back and forth game is boring me, maybe it's the play by play. Every LSU offensive play looks ugly but somehow it is effective.
  17. I think Von Miller projects as an ILB in the NFL. He is maybe 240 and maybe 6-2. Basically he is maybe 5 pounds heavier and 2 inches shorter than Maybin. (no matter what Maybin is listed at he looks 235 to me) I like my OLBs to be solidly at or over 250. An NFL LT can rag doll Von Miller. I think the kid will perform well in the NFL but he is the Same size as Poz and smaller than Moats he wouldn't be able to be a rush backer in the NFL. Definitely no where near #3 overall. Mason Foster in the 3rd or 4th is a better value for ILB. If they take Patrick Peterson over Marcell Dareaus or Cam Newton or Ryan Mallet (Fairely will be gone) I would lose it. I'd have to go buy a Tampa Bay jersey and jump on that bandwagon. Patrick Peterson will have a great NFL career and it will be extended because he has the size and tacking ability to play safety once he loses a step but, lord-a-mercy not another DB!
  18. Yeah because letting #4 pick Philip Rivers sit was a huge mistake. They should have just let him start day 1 like Ryan Leaf. Since you can read Buddy Nix mind and know that they drafted Phillip Rivers to start him then you must know what Buddy Nix is going to do in this years' draft. Why don't you just spare us the anticipation and tell us what Buddy Nix is thinking now. What is the detriment to sitting a rookie QB for a year?
  19. Yes, unless the NFLPA successfully adds a reduced College Requirement. Then you have younger/riskier players entering the draft. I would say reducing risk is a major motivation for the owners, probably more than the amount of money that they spend (I don't believe their claims of crying poor.) For example Detroit has tons of money tied up in Stafford, Stafford can't stay healthy, the risk there is huge as far as % salary cap goes if he can't get on the field.(Yes there was no salary cap in 2010, but there will very likely be some type of cap in the new CBA.{If the Lions don't add some O-Line for Stafford in 2011 Stafford should sue the Lions for attempted homicide.}) Matt Ryan, and Bradford appear to have worked out but the cap risk was huge if they busted.
  20. Understand there is no maybe. He will be the #1 overall in 2012 or 2013 or whenever he comes out. It is as certain as Standford insisting on using the singular form of Cardinal as their team name is awkward. I asked this challenge before, name 1 good QB that had a career ending injury before the age of 30? Palmer, Brady, Rivers, Brees, Big Ben, Culpepper all came back from injury. You can argue that Palmer and Culpepper never returned to form. I argue that Culpepper was exposed without Moss, but I will give you Palmer but not because of physical ability, I feel it is more mental he appears to be gun shy and not willing to risk injury to make a play. Either way they still played and still made Millions of dollars after injury. Injuries are different for QBs, than any other position. As long as they have basic mobility, and their arm is intact. They can still physically play and play well. Not to mention Achilles injuries used to be career enders for RBs but Sports Therapy has come so far that we now have a few RBs and LBs in the NFL that have come back from this injury. It seriously would take a life altering injury like paralysis, brain damage, or amputation to effect Andrew Lucks draft status. This is not an exaggeration and god forbid that from happening, but if it did then all the nitwits that think that going back to school is bad idea get proved correct. For some specialized skills that are highly valued, like an NFL caliber QB, the money will always be there.
  21. There will be a rookie salary of some sort in 2011 once the CBA is finalized. It makes zero sense to lock out the players, cry poor than go on 60 mil signing spree. So lets start there. Its likely there is some kind of de-escalating salary pool, to get the #1 down to a 40 mil guaranteed area with 20 mil guaranteed area. So in 2012 Luck gets 50 mil or 40 mil with 25-40 guaranteed. Personally in a day to day for Andrew Luck its really not going to make a huge difference in his life. Not to mention that if he actually performs well it will little to know factor in his life. His next contract will be huge and the endorsement deals will be coming in. Maybe in his 15 year year NFL career making a few 100 million, due to inflation, and endorsements, the difference may max 5 mil. Now if he totally blows and never does anything in the NFL, yeah he cost himself that a ton of money. But he must have faith in his skills and ability to make this decision.
  22. Wait first we had to lose our games to get a higher pick, now we should be drafting later because there is nobody worth the pick we have? If Stevie catches that pass, and a FG in KC counts we draft Gave Carimi right where he should be drafted.
  23. The NFLPA and the players want a rookie cap. They sent a proposal for an incentive based rookie payscale. Basically to eliminate Sam Bradford and Matt Ryan making more than Manning and Brady at the same time eliminating Chris Jihnson from making 400K on 2K yards. I've said this for months it makes zero sense for the Owners to go through the process of locking players out, crying broke, then as soon as the ink on the CBA is dry go sign Nick Fairely for 60mil. There will be some kind of payscale for rookies in 2011. It could be deescalating. Where 2011, is 55mil, 2012, 50 mil, 2013 is 45 mil to get to whatever type of max they agree upon but no 2011 draftees will have the chance to beat Sam Bradford's contract. BTW most rookie signing don't happen until June and July if there isn't a CBA by July that will be extremely worrisome.
  24. Fairley will not be there at #3 now that Luck is staying in. I do like Marcell Dareus. I don't think the Bills would regret taking the first QB in the draft. Then focus on defense with picks 2-4.
