Way to add zero value to this thread. This is a draft thread where talk specific whos in the draft. Not non specific nonsense. If you dont want Dareaus at #3 what TE do you want at #3? Clearly I don't mean stop drafting TEs for the entire history of the Bills stop drafting late round do nothing TEs in the 2011 draft.

So much for the NEED to have a "franchise QB"...
1B4IDie replied to McD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why you little . . . As one of the flag bearers for "the Bills must lose to get a higher draft pick" mind(less)set; you now have the audacity to claim that there might not be a player that will "live up to the draft position." Is it possible that you may have set unrealistic expectations of the difference between the quality of players in the NFL draft ? It doesn't sound like you know the players in the draft very well, you're splitting hairs in the Top30. If Stevie catches the pass, and one of the kicks counts against the Cheifs then we can draft Mallet or Newton right where they are "worthy" to be picked. It seems like you might believe a QB upgrade is better in the longterm for the Bills too bad the Bills didn't have 2 more wins. -
I like draft D the best. 1 3 Buffalo Marcell Dareus DE34 Alabama 2 34 Buffalo DeMarcus Love RT Arkansas 3 68 Buffalo Jeremy Beal OLB Oklahoma 4 99 Buffalo Moffit OG Wisconsin 4 121 Buffalo Wayne Daniels ILB TCU 5 130 Buffalo Casey Matthews ILB Oregon 6 164 Buffalo John Clay RBF Wisconsin 7 195 Buffalo Alex Linnenkohl OC Oregon Stop Drafting TEs! We have drafted way too many TEs the last few years. TE through FA is the way to go in 2011. If I had to pick they're all good but I would like C.

Basically motor & technique questions around Heyward. Not as many around Dareaus plus Dareaus appears more athletic even at 306. Plus there is a 5% difference between 292 and 306. When you're talking about the difference between the top 50 college players you're really splitting hairs. Not to mention that a lot of mocks have Heyward in the 2nd but there is no way that happens. His bloodlines, work ethic and interviews are going to put him in the late 1st (rich get richer) fo' sho' The mind set that you need to lose to get the best player is foolish and demonstrated well between these two players. The Bills lose and take Dareaus the Ravens win and take Heyward (to backfill Ngata and Redding incase they lose Ngata because of the 30% rule and the unsure labor situation) the difference between the two players is minute in the big picture. You put Heyward into a winning scheme like the Ravens he has an all pro career. You put Dareaus on the Bills, who is consensus "better" than Heyward, but the Bills can't spell scheme and he has a so-so career. Great thing we lost to get a "better" pick.

Peterson is OVER-RATED! Taking a DB in the top 10 is stoopid. The Redskins do it every other year. Let's not be like the Redskins.

This is good. Nix & Co. are in total rebuilding mode. Its going to take 2-4 more years to see what they make this time.
-
I'd like that draft too! I hope the Bills don't screw this year's draft up. There is so much potential in rounds 2-4. Cannon will be gone before the 4th but if somehow they got Moffit & Cannon in the 4th The O-Line would most likely be finally fixed, to boarding on great.

Trading for Rob Johnson sent the Franchise back 5 years. Then trading up for JP LOSSman sent the franchise back another 5 years. 40% of the roster is gone from 2009 season to the 2010. And atleast another 20% from 2009 is going to be gone in 2011. In less than 500 days a 2/3 of the roster will have flipped. Nix & Co. are in total rebuilding mode. Its going to take 2-4 more years to see what they make this time. The Bills are consistently above the 50% mark in terms of annual salary so the nonsense that Ralph doesn't spend is just nonsense.

No. Their contract ended. They are no employees of the Buffalo Bills after February of 2011.

Is Chad Pennington still alive? Try the other Miami backup instead, Tyler Thigpen is a FA, and has much more potential than aBrohmination.

So much for the NEED to have a "franchise QB"...

Which list do you think is going to be longer Front 7 busts or QB busts? Start with Erik Flowers up through Aaron Maybin. QBs just have a higher profile. -
Bonerville!!! I would love that draft!!! Starting line of Kyle "The Rockpile", Powe, and Dareaus would make the LBs look better. Plus Troup and Carrington being platooned in is the definition of "Building through the draft" Please make this draft happen. Plus its quite possible Love having a less than spectacular Bowl will drop him out of First, he was rising all season in value that dropped after the bowl game. The only slight change is that I am developing a man crush on Moffit and would like him over Stocker and sign Owen Daniels, Bowe Scaife, or Greg Olsen to lock down the TE (but now that he has a huge playoff game his stock might have risen too high.)

So much for the NEED to have a "franchise QB"...
1B4IDie replied to McD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This whole thread is a vat of weak sauce and denial. I just ignored your arbitrary self denial infused "Franchise" Tag. Cutler, Sanchez, Rodgers, and Roethlisberger are all franchise QBs whether you accept it or not. Are any of those franchises in line to draft a QB any time soon? The answer is no. Debate settled. They all are franchise QBs. Only Franchise QBs are left in the playoffs. -
AJ Green is available when the Bills Pick....
1B4IDie replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pats don't trade up they trade down. So if that impossible scenario happened the Bills would be Foolish not to take extra picks away from the Pats for a WR. That is a win-win. -

The Funny thing is that since 2005 every Super Bowl winning QB has been picked in the first 32 picks. I get it though, you're just one that refuses to see that the NFL changes over time. Sorry about that, I can't help you there. -

Wow dude you are way way way way out there. So just out of hand ignoring that all 4 QBs left in the playoffs were drafted in the 1st round is topped by No player is "worthy" of the #3 draft pick. Amazing! Your mind is a scary thing. You're probably of the crowd that "we must lose to get a better draft pick too. So that we have a better chance at drafting Super Man." Now that you actually have taken the time to assess the draft do you realize there is not a huge difference in potential from pick #3 to #11? If there is a guy you want you draft him. You're splitting hairs when it comes to the top 20 college players in the country. -
Am I crazy for realy wanting to get Gaither
1B4IDie replied to 95altima12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not Crazy, he has an attitude problem and wants to be paid like a LT. I don't think the attitude and $$$ will meet up with Nix in Buffalo. I'm sure some team will pay for him though its hard to find someone that was a starter LT for over a year (2008 & 2009) and played well, is only 25 years old, and a Free Agent. Its extremely rare. It could just be a maturity issue, he had attitude problem when he was 22. Have you spoken to a 22 year old lately? -
WILL WE EVER BEAT THE PATRIOTS AGAIN?
1B4IDie replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sad thing is, the world ends on 12.12.12 so the real answer is no. The Bills will never beat the Patriots again. We had a chance in week 18 of the 2012 season but the game is scheduled for January 2013. -

You think Chan Gailey's offensive system is not the perfect system for a young QB? Clearly the idea that the rookie QB will be on the Buddy Nix tested Philip Rivers sit and wait plan. Again 2011 is a great year for the Bills to get on the plan. You have an offensive minded coach with an ability to improve QB play, a smart veteran that is no skilled but is make it the most with the limited tools he has, tons of defensive talent in rounds 2-4, no QB talent in the 2012 draft (after Luck) (with 2013 not looking too hot, but its too early). -
So much for the NEED to have a "franchise QB"...
1B4IDie replied to McD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Which is the greater point. You need a franchise QB and a great defense. The Bills have 0 of the 2. Hopefully they can start to solve atleast 1 of the 2 areas in 2011 by drafting a Cam Newton, Ryan Mallet, Marcell Dareaus or best case Nick Fairely. 40% of the roster has flipped from DJ's team and about another 25% is probably going to flip after this off season. This is truly rebuilding. They think its still 2008. They don't realize there are two Top 40 picks on the O-Line with a young LT that is developing into a good LT. -
So much for the NEED to have a "franchise QB"...
1B4IDie replied to McD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The QB matters. The 2010 O-Line is not horrible. The 2010 D-Line is horrible. If Fairely is gone, its time this franchise takes a shot on a QB, with this being the perfect time in the sense we don't have to throw the kid into the frying pan on day 1. The same may not be said in 2012 or 2013. (Not to mention 2012's QB class is horrible after Luck) Although getting Marcell Dareaus is a pretty darn good consolation prize to finally getting a franchise QB. Finally having a franchise QB gives an organization a chance at success for a sustained period of time. I believe Cam Newton & Ryan Mallet will have very successful NFL careers, both can be "the man." If you "reach" on one of them at #3, in three years everyone will be wondering why they don't go #1 overall. Similar to Josh Freeman, Matt Ryan, or Jim Kelly. Yes Manning, Rivers and Brees are out of the playoffs this year, but how often are they in the playoffs? -
Reasons to Not Pick a QB in Next Draft

Locker is a white Cam Newton with worse throwing ability and no ability to win games that crumbles under pressure. Cam Newton > Jake Locker x 100 -
So much for the NEED to have a "franchise QB"...
1B4IDie replied to McD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean like how you keep ignoring that all four QBs left in the playoffs were all 1st round picks and this whole thread is based on ignoring that fact? -
If this were possible, which I doubt. Then the Bills without question should do that. However I do not think the NFL works like the NBA did in 1979. The Boston Celtics selected the 6'9", 220-pound Bird 6th overall in the 1978 NBA Draft,[11][12] even though they were uncertain whether he would enter the NBA or remain at Indiana State to play his senior season. Bird ultimately decided to play his final college season, but the Celtics retained their exclusive right to sign him until the 1979 NBA Draft, because of the NBA's "junior eligible" rule that existed at that time (allowing a collegiate player to be drafted when the player's original "entering" class was graduating and giving them one calendar year to sign them, even if they went back to college). Shortly before that deadline, Bird agreed to sign with the Celtics for a US $650,000 a year contract, making him at the time the highest-paid rookie in the history of the NBA. Shortly afterwards, the NBA draft eligibility rules were changed to prevent teams from drafting players before they were ready to sign. The rule is called the Bird Collegiate Rule.
