  1. Watching the all star competition and Jake Locker missed the entire 20 yard board. Dalton and Mallet both hit it multiple times.
  2. Yes Sam Bradford had a great pro day leading up to the draft. I know that, that's my point. At this time last year no one knew who was going #1 overall. Suh was the safe pick Leaving Bradford #4 to Redskins or #6 to Seattle this time last year. That is your opinion of the 2011 QB class and you're welcome to it. But it's just that opinion, far from consensus and IMO far from reality.
  3. I just want to be clear the recruiting bust label was not because of lack if production it was because of a lack of effort. I'm surprised you haven't read it before its in almost every assessment. Story goes he was lazy and took his god given gifts for granted, his father died, he hit the gym and got serious. It's all over the place. Its a pretty convenient story so it seems suspect but I don't outright dismiss it. "A knee injury hampered him as a sophomore, but his poor work ethic didn't help. He cut corners in the weight room and on the field, and it was time for that to stop." http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2011/01/28/motivated-by-tragedy-daquan-bowers-pushes-for-no-1-pick-in-nf/
  4. I think because Brandon Lloyd finally lived up to his potential they won't be scrambling. I thought D. Thomas was going to be a beast. Elway and team would be foolish to bring him back for 2011. Thomas would actually be on track to be ready to try it for training camp 2012. He us young enough to maybe come back. 5. Consensus on April 22nd not Jan 22nd. But you're missing the whole point on top of that you're judging based on what you know about Sam Bradford's performance in 2010. This time last year and really up until October of 2010 no one knew if Sam Bradford could make it in the NFL. It's easy to rewrite history and say "Sam Bradford is far better prospect than anything in the 2011 draft" but that's actually far from the truth. Especially comparing Feb 2011 with Feb 2010. Tons of questions swirled around Bradford, more than just the injury. The bigger point is at #3 in the draft you are drafting a 21 or 22 year old college kid full of potential that has lots of question marks whether you pick #3 or #23.
  6. He was that big because he is lazy. He was a bust of a #1 overall recruit until the death of his father lit a fire under him. On paper Bowers is the best fit for the Bills, IMO. He can rush standinging up in 3-4. He could put a hand down at DE in a 4-3. I don't know about DE in a 3-4 but the point is no matter what front we're in opposing offenses would have to account for him. Problem is he had one arm in the Bust "jacket" going into 2010 and he was able to pull it off but it scares me that the laziness might come out again, on the other hand he is a young man maybe he can put that behind him and be a great football player. Only time will tell. For me the risk out weighs the potential. I'd stay away.
  7. There Is no question. For some of you it seems like you have buyer's remorse with the #3 pick. "The Bills should lose to improve their draft stock the top of the draft is sooo much better. The Bills should lose to improve their draft stock the top of the draft is sooo much better. The Bills should lose to improve their draft stock the top if the draft is sooo much better." now you're at the lot picking out your #3 pick and getting worried. "This guy can't leap buildings with a single bound, this guy is not more powerful than a locamotive. He isn't faster than a speeding bullet. He is just a great college football. Clearly not worth the #3 overall" You think the Rams were excited this time last year? A spread Offense QB coming off a year injury to his throwing shoulder or an interior D lineman that had a sick bowlgame. Fairely and Dareus are great college football players that have extremmly hard to find athletic abilities at their size and well "worth" the #3 overall pick.
  8. Irrelevant they're not going anywhere. What does it matter. What is the strength? Why is Ralph Wilson trying to sell tickets a bad thing? Yes he did a great job identifying that Trent was hopeless in game situations, and he coached up Fitz pretty well. The O-Line has two Top 50 picks, and a LT that played well in 2010. You can fill in a RT or Guard through the draft and FA and the improvement continues. There is Nothing left from the 2008 one of the Worst O-Lines in NFL history. It is you. You should probably kill yourself.
  9. Walter Football isn't really a definitive source. You're confusing draftnicks with GMs. GMs did not think Colt McCoy or Jimmy Clausen were first round material, evidenced by the fact that no one took him in the first round. Further evidenced by the fact that both Cleveland and Carolina are in draftnick discussions about taking a QB in the 1st. But yes Draftnicks did talk about the 2010 QB class even though it was probably the worst class in a long time, and although its very early the 2012 after Luck is looking pretty iffy. I think Newton has 1st round material. Gabbert was the #1 High School QB and did Ok to well in College, but looks the part of a QB. Even thought draftnick's slam Lurch(Mallet) I think he may actually be higher regarded by GMs then draftnicks may be aware. Ponder is looking the part, the concerns with injury may not be elevated yet but he could have what it takes to make it the NFL. I could see Miami or Jacksonville "reaching" for Ponder at 15\16 if they think he could be "the man." Knowing that there is no way Ponder is there for Jacksonville in the second and Miami traded their second for Marshall so what better way to make an impact with limited picks then to get your QB of the future. There will be 2 QBs taken in the first for sure, if you look at the top of the draft. 4\16 picks are a 100% settled at QB (depending on the Palmer situation) I personally wouldn't be surprised if 4 QBs go in the 1st. If Carolina, just like Buffalo think that there is a QB there that could be "The Man" it would be the most prudent to take them. I'm not a GM (how do you get to be one?) but given their access to interview these QBs and the QB's references/known associates its not unlikely for a QB to shoot to #1, especially a talent with the ceiling of Newton. Carolina (2-14) - needs a QB Denver (4-12) - not likely to take a QB Buffalo (4-12) - needs a QB Cincinnati (4-12) - might need a QB Arizona (5-11) - needs a QB in a major way Cleveland (5-11) - needs a QB San Francisco (6-10)- needs a QB Tennessee (6-10) - needs a QB Dallas (6-10) - Romo(although the team arguably played better without him or was it the coaching) Washington (6-10) - probably needs a QB Houston (6-10) - Schuab Minnesota (6-10) - needs a QB in a major way Detroit (6-10) - Stafford (although dude can't stay healthy) St. Louis (7-9) - Bradford Miami (7-9) - needs a QB Jacksonville (8-8) - might need a QB I tend to agree with the OP. If Carolina thinks that one of these QBs is "the man" they will go with a QB.
  10. Yeah I guess having made failed trade attempts for Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Matt Ryan. The Tim Tebow failed trade up didn't seem so bad.
  11. What? Do you have any links that support this theory?
  12. Did Brad Butler give him a job offer?
  13. Excellent Work! I'd like to see the same analysis on a CB. Although the numbers will be skewed toured D-Line as CBs on average have a much shorter career and the special athletes at CB transition to safety to extend their careers.
  14. Why do you say that? Be specific.
  15. Have you actually seen Peterson play? I have, multiple times, I don't understand the hype. Plus for those that haven't seen him play in every scouting report it says he has stiff hips. At his size in the NFL with stiff hips CB is not going to be something he will be a "superstar" at. Drafting a CB with bad hips is like drafting a WR with bad hands. Out of all the options at #3 Peterson has the biggest bust potential. Not to mention you actually can't get athletic 300 pounders later in the draft, that's why they generally go early there are so few of them. You can DBs later in the draft and unathletic 300 pounders. If you have a chance to get a freak of nature like Fairely or Dareus you make the pick and you dont think twice. Btw Marcell Dareus has the same amount of Pick 6s as Patrick Peterson and only 6 less interceptions as Peterson and Dareus is D-lineman. Not really "superstar" stats for Peterson.
  16. You're entitled to your incorrect opinion. There has never been a trade up to pick a DB in the Top 5 in NFL history, There have been very few DBs taken in the top5 in NFL history for a reason.
  17. Either way Newton is an actual trade up possibility for a teams like Cleveland. San Francisco and Tennessee imo. No one is going to trade up to #3 for CB or WR. Ken Whisenhunt coached up Big Ben in Pittsburgh and the threat of Cam going to Arizona could make one of those 3 teams move up. With the Palmer talk Arizona might even want to trade up to get passed Cinci. Now we might have some interesting conversation if Nic & Chan don't love Cam themselves.
  18. I hear the Easter Bunny might still be on board with K-Gun Ownership.
  19. I gotcha. Yes before the SEC run, there was 3rd round talk. There is always a QB thats pops to the top too. Bradford wasn't a look at #1 A lot of the talk around this time last year was #7 to Cleveland or lower.
  20. No one had him as a 3rd and disconnected people had him as a second. Newton at #10 to the Redskins has been the discussion for awhile.
  21. Locker will be available in the second . . . and the third . . . probably the fourth. NFL people know he can't play NFL football, he could barely play college football.
  22. That is for sure going to be a crazy year for the draft. This year almost anything could happen. There are about 10+ options at #3. All the way through draft its going to be crazy. There about 80 players in my opinion that have 2nd round grades. Its splitting hairs more than ever this year. Pick #68 could be a game changer too. List of "bad" picks in reverse order "badness" imo (good luck trying to figure out what that means) at #3 overall: 4. Gaine Blabbert, or Yo Gabba-Gabbert. Blaine? ugh. #1 High School QB doesn't do much in College now comes to the NFL to not do much too? Or maybe do more than not much? - This will cause some indigestion for a couple years. 3. AJ Green, Yay! We have a beast of a WR. Booooo! opposing offenses are still on the field for too long. 2. Von Miller, will be a good LB. Not really aiming for "good" or "LB" with #3 pick. 1. Patrick Peterson, 2 years of being a bad CB, then best case he embraces the safety role he could be a game changing safety. List of picks that I don't think are bad but would leave me worried in reverse order of worrisomeness. 4. Cam Jordan - Really is he really worth the #3 overall I hope he becomes a stud, should be a good player though 3. Quinn - Dude is manaimal. Could be a more athletic LaMarr Woodley or the year off could make him the second biggest bust after Maybin. 2. Bowers - #1 overall High School recruit doesn't do much in College now comes to the NFL to not do much too? Or maybe do more than not much? , I hope his father dying (RIP) really lights a fire under him. (not that mean I'm glad his father died I would never wish that on anyone I just mean he lacked motivation all through college until that happened.) 1. Cam Newton - The guy has a low floor and a very High Ceiling, imo. He will be a good QB, he has the potential for greatness. Do the Bills have potential for greatness? List of picks that I would be jumping for joy: 4. Marcell Dareaus - certified beast. Marcellasaurus and Kyle the Rockpile are going to make Brady and Sanchez feel uncomfortable for a long time, allowing our LBs to clean up the collapsed pockets. Not a stat monster but a game changer. 3. Nick Fairely - Big, mean, nasty, bad attitude (in a good way.) You can't stop him you can only contain him. 2. A Stud LT - Doesn't appear to be in this draft 1. A QB that I actually think could be a franchise QB - doesn't look like there is anything in the draft that's more than a 50/50 chance of making it. Really outside of Patrick Peterson they should have a good player, it really will take a Buffalo Bills type of bust detector pick to screw up the #3 overall.
  23. pssst, they say that because he doesn't have he skin tone they may be accustomed to when it comes to QBs.
  24. Not true. There are many people on this board, that have said Cam Newton is inaccurate and does not have an NFL throwing motion. When people have tried to dispute that nonsense, it would be meant by stubborn opposition. After that publicity event, no one can realistically refute that Cam Newton is accurate passer with an NFL quality arm. Its other stuff, that the hater parade can go after now.
  25. Mayock never said he doesn't like Newton. If that's what you're saying you may be reading into his statements and hearing what you want to hear. He says his intangibles, Leadership and work ethic are whats going to separate Newton. I don't know of any reason to question his work ethic. I do not hear any rumors out of Auburn that Newton was a questionable leader. Newton has said himself he wants to be one of the great ones, "I am aiming for greatness." So if Mayock thinks he is an accurate passer with a good throwing motion. Newton is a proven leader of college players where he won back to back championships (Why is winning the JuCu championship the year before the BCS championship irrelevant?). That leaves 1 real (huge) question mark. Can he learn a multi-read, pro style offense. The Wonderlic is a test that is meant to give prospective employers insight to a prospective employees ability to learn and problem solve. Yes the test is not perfect but if Cam Newton gets closer to 30 than 20. A lot o the Football IQ Questions go away. If he is in the teens, well the H-Back crowd might be on to something. If you had to make a list of coaches to teach Cam that are coaches in the NFL today. I would assume that Chan Gailey would be in the Top3 if not #1. Guess what Chan Gailey is the HC of the Buffalo Bills. If anyone's going to coach up a talented, accurate passer, that has a strong work ethic and proven college leadership on how to be an NFL QB, the Bills have the guy to do it. The risk for the Buffalo Bills, takes a bit of a dip because of our coaching staff. If Cam nails the Wonderlic and the Bills pass on Cam. I think Ken whisenhunt in Arizona might take Cam Newton at #5 over Yo-Gabba-Gabbert. Ken whisenhunt knew what do to with a Big, raw, Accurate passer in Ben Roethlisberger. Then Bills fans will be happy because they get to say "Look at Arizona. We could have had Cam Newton, instead of this guy on the D-Line that doesn't even have 20 sacks a season." because it seems like criticizing draft picks is the #1 hobby of Bills fans.
