Having a Drew Brees - Philip Rivers problem would be a welcome issue on One Bills drive.

Bills 1st rd drafting history on front 7 of defense
1B4IDie replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. It's not just the front 7. The Bills suck at drafting. 2. Only 3 QBs were drafting in the first round and only 0 with the first pick of the first round in the superbowl era. 3. The Bills really suck at drafting. 4. A TwoBillsDrive consensus poll will draft better than the Bills FO. The Bills really suck at drafting. -
new gbn mock - first three rounds
1B4IDie replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I Agree that his 40 Time would validate him as a top 10 pick, if there is 1 position where 40 time is somewhat relevant its WRs\DBs. Even with a 4.48 #2 is pretty high when looking at his tape, and I agree about the scheme LSU played a lot of zone there is really little man on man tape for draftniks to go on on about his cover skills. We'll see but I he goes much later than all the hype around him has led people to believe. -
new gbn mock - first three rounds

I agree too. I think actual NFL teams aren't going to touch him until the second half of the first round. Everyone will call it an unexpected "drop". -
Fox Sports article on fixing broken teams

How does the National Scout in charge of scouting for 3 months leading up to the draft have nothing to do with the 1st round pick that was made that year? Nix definitely had something to do with Maybin. -

Not saying the Wonderlic is great but its not general knowledge questions. Its a timed problem solving test. The Timed part is a key Questions like this: How many of the six pairs of items listed below are exact duplicates? PRESENT, RESENT - Do these words A train travels 20 feet in 1/5 seconds At this exact speed, how many feet will it travel in three seconds? When rope is selling at $.10 a foot, how many feet can you buy for sixty cents? What you learn from the test is extremes. If some one scores between a 0-15 they are really a numbskull. If you're between 15-25 you're below average for college educated person but you can probably learn what you need to get by in the NFL. If you're over 25 you can probably pick up a playbook and understand it internalize it quickly so you can help teach others. Which is part of the leadership of the QB, making sure the players are in the right spot and know their assignments. Its not perfect, but its meant to show a person's ability to problem solve. Its not a general knowledge questionnaire. Seriously if you've ever taken it you have to worry about people that score under 20. Good thing they can make money playing sports but you know what they say about a fool and their money.

For those that don't have insider. Mel has Cam Jordan going #17 to the Patriots from the Raiders for the Richard Seymour trade. There is no way Cam Jordan (Mel really is always wrong) goes that low but the thought of the Patriots making out like makes me double
-
Wow that is a major typo! I would never say that to his face. I probably couldn't run away either. In a 10 yard stretch he'd catch me. Playing dead would probably be the best strategy in that case.
-
It's easy to run with this and say that Fairey, Dareus, Cam Jordan is the pick now, but i think Stroud was gone no matter who the #1 is going to be.
-
I'm guessing that was sarcasm. The writing is on the wall for Stroud and has been for awhile.

I know. I wish people understood that when you mention Jake Locker its read by anyone paying attention to the draft as "I have no idea what I'm talking about. ESPN told me he is good." -
Good point! I never though of that. You're right I think that will definitely change the later rounds. Players deemed more "NFL ready" may go over pure Athletes that need a lot of Football coaching.

Welcome aboard. I have to echo the earlier statement. I went to Lambeau last season, and now I definitely have my backup team if the Bills ever leave Buffalo (which is a source of constant paranoia for a Bills' fans) I was rooting for the Pack in the playoffs. Thanks for the Flynn offer but we already have ABrohmination from you guys. I think we're set on GB cast offs. Plus the stink of Rob Johnson, (a few start wonder for the Jags) is still with franchise. Bills fans are weary of these types of players. I really hope Peterson is not the pick he is highly overrated. Miller would be a worrisome pick. I don't think OBD (One Bills Drive) will take an undersized DE\LB tweener that high. Realistically I expect the Bills to go with Big Athletic D or if they fall in love with a QB Buddy Nix might pull the trigger he feels one of the QBs is going to be "the Man" and sit him like Aaron Rodgers, or Philip Rivers (which Buddy nix was involved in scouting\drafting.) Let Fitzzy play in 2011 and let Chan coach the rookie QB up for a year or two (at most.) I hope the pick would be: Fairely, Dareus, Cam Jordan or Cam Newton(less likely) {50% chance of a Camron; 25% chance of a CJ going #1 in back to back years ) There are tons of options for the Bills at #3 if nothing else its going to be interesting Are the pack going to take O-Line at the end of the 1st? The Pack pick #32 and the Bills pick #34, We're hoping maybe a top ranked RT drops to the second or possible Phil Taylor (but you're all set at NT) Many Bills fans were hoping Raji would fall to #11 in 2009.
-
Wow! 10Mill to tie up on A Guard! I'm surprised to say the least.
-
Why do you just ignore everyone's posts and ramble on about something that no one wants or is proposing? The Rookie QB would not play in 2011. Maybe week 16-19 but thats about it. So the question you should pose is this "Why draft a QB now and turn him into another Philip Rivers or Aaron Rodger , et al?" The answer is because that is best thing that could possibly happen to the Bills in order to be relevant and competitive for years to come. Please feel free to chim in with the shortsighted response "We need a draft pick that will make an impact now."

Kyle Williams should be making more than this: DT: $7 million/$6.4 million (Tommie Harris, $8.6M) Its good to know that we are paying Kelsay as much or more than the amount he would make if he were franchised. LB: $9.7 million/$8.4 million Didn't we offer Donte just under this: S: $6.5 million/$6 million Why the hell would he think he deserves more than the average of the Top5 safeties? WTF? If the NFL doesn't separate OT from OG\C then no OG\C will ever get franchised (not that that would be a good idea, just sayin' . . ) OL: $10.7 million/$9.1 million

Yes. I thought about that after I wrote it. High floor, low floor, either way bad analogy. He should be good in the NFL. -

I agree as well. If the draft went Fairely#1, Dareus #2, I'm starting think I would take Cam Jordan #3 if I were drafting for the Bills. For this 1 reason. He has very little bust potential, imo. Worst case he'll be a serviceable D-Line player, and best case he's a bigger, stronger Kyle Williams. This team needs a sure thing and Cam Jordan has a very low floor. Now if Dareus is on the board and we take Cam Jordan, I won't be psyched. I'll be following Marcell's career because I think he can be special but I can rest assure that the Bills have drafted a good player. Is his father named Michael? What's the bloodline? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Jordan_(American_football)) His father went to Brown? Buddy, Chan, and team got to spend a week with him so I'll trust they saw something special, maybe its smarts on top athletics. Cam Jordan fits into the Bills draft history, they usually draft someone that can be taken 10 picks later. The Good news we're drafting a player at #3 and if we take Jordan that could be picked between 10-15 we're still in good hands. Instead of drafting 10-15 and taking a player that could be had 20-25. I could be happy with Cam Jordan. The Bills need good players and Cam Jordan will be a good to great player. -
Jack Locker can't hit the broadside of a barn

Isn't Fitz a redhead or atleast a redish-beard. There might be some synergy there. BTW it looks like Murph has been hitting Salvatore's early and often. -

You're killing me stony. Why would you want him in a Bills uni? He was a scrub in college, all he did was lose. Has a lack luster completion percentage. Crumbles under pressure in games; time and time again. It would be like drafting Trent Edwards in the top 50, a post concussion Trent Edwards. I can not see one reason to draft him. Enlighten me. -

I don't know where you got those Locker stats from but these are the real stats: Passing YEAR CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT 2007 155 328 2062 47.3 6.29 98 14 15 17 105.01 2008 50 93 512 53.8 5.51 48 1 0 10 103.55 2009 230 395 2800 58.2 7.09 51 21 11 28 129.75 2010 184 332 2265 55.4 6.82 80 17 9 19 124.20 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=184374 Plus Sam Bradford went back and went #1 overall. -

For the record Locker was never in the conversation for the #1 overall in the real world. McShay made up his potential and everyone ran with it. The truth is Locker went to the draft advisory board and they told him he is probably a 3rd round pick so he went back to school. If you look at the tape and his performance and his stats you can see he probably wasn't a 3rd round pick in 2010 draft. He actually improved and or proved that he is no good in the 2010 season. Not to kick the guy when he is down but he doesn't come across as the sharpest knife either. Curious to see if he has a Tebow-esque wonderlic. Jake Locker is the poster boy for the disconnect with draftnick hype and NFL reality. Even if Luck breaks his throwing arm or shoulder a la Bradford he won't drop out of the Top3 and is 95% a Lock for #1 overall. Two completely different stories. -
how many of you that don't like us taking a corner at 3...
1B4IDie replied to Drew026's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the scouting report. That is excellent work. I keep saying that I have watched him play many games and am not impressed and dont think he is a once in a generation, NFL ready DB to take with #3 overall. I keep getting CBssports links in response. Peterson is far from a sure thing and has many ? in playing CB in the NFL. People that have actually watched him play tend not to put him in the "BPA" ( like all the players line up in a row based on a magical scouting service's assessment, like the draft is a Madden video game "Just take the next guy in line, it's that easy") conversation. I'd take him as a Safety in the mid to late first, the play where Cam drags him 10 yards down the field was impressive for Peterson he had to cover most of the field to try and make the stop. If it were a WR or RB he might have made the stop. -

What I think is interesting is Elway said that they're going to put their interview tapes online for their "open" process. I'll be watching Quinn and Bowers for sure.
