1. Please stop using MLB to compare with Miller. 2. Major strawman alert, no one is drafting Fairely because of his 40 time. 3. Why would you want to draft an undersized player with the #3 overall? Isn't that a reach?
-
You must not watch a lot of football or you weren't looking very hard hard because he was about 238 when he played at Texas A&M. He looks like a SS on a Saftey blitz in most of his "highlight" reels.

I question this, as an absolute. There is no reason to believe that with 100% certainty that Von Miller can add 10 pounds, keep then keep his pass rushing speed at that weight. We're talking about the #3 overall pick in the NFL draft. Why risk it? You can get a LB latter in the draft. There is a reason why actual NFL teams don't taken LBs that high. Its easier to find 255 pound guys that are athletic, than it is to find 300 pound guys that are athletic. Fairely and Dareaus worry me but If I'm going to roll the dice, I'd rather go big or go home. Then go little.

I've always been a Mallet believer. If he goes to a team that can keep their QB clean, he could be the next great proto-typical pocket QB. All a QB needs to do is side step a rusher or step into the pocket. Just because he can't run through a wall like Cam Newton, Gabbert, and Locker doesn't mean he won't be a good NFL QB.

Another reason why we should pick...

To me it just seems like Cam Jordan is such a clear, perfect fit for this team. For a team that needs a sure thing with their first round pick. I don't see a surer thing in the draft. -
The first questions were a sarcastic way of demonstrating that the Buffalo Bills do not have a track record with successfully bulking up their 1st round OLB picks. It behooves everyone in the organization to get Maybin to an NFL playing weight and yes it comes down to the individual but come on man someone can't sneak some Muscle Milk into his Happy Meal. These are the questions I struggle with: Why would you draft a player at #3 overall that needs to bulk up in order to play in the NFL? Wouldn't it stand to reason you can draft an NFL size player at #3 overall? How is drafting a guy that needs to bulk up, not a reach? It seems like the definition of a reach to me. I wish someone could explain this to me. (Besides talking about 17 sacks in college or running real fast. Great if this were a draft for NCAA I'd think about Miller that high but its a draft for the NFL.) Von Miller isn't as highly regarded as Aaron Curry was regarded when he came out. I just don't get the fascination.

I'm on board with that.

In a year with no organized team activities and no mini-camps, possibly shortened training camp, who do you think is going to show up ready Haynsworthian, Marcell Dareus and Nick Fairely or Cam Jordan? If the Bills went #3 Cam Jordan, #34 Stephan Paea, I would sleep like a baby. If the Bills went #7 Cam Jordan, #34 Stephan Paea and #45 Kelvin Sheppard I'd think I was still dreaming. What was Maybin's measurements at the combine? Are the Buffalo Bills located in Buffalo, NY or Green Bay, WI? Why would you draft a player at #3 overall that needs to bulk up in order to play in the NFL. Wouldn't stand to reason you can draft an NFL size player at #3 overall? How is drafting a guy that needs to bulk up, not a reach? It seems like the definition of a reach to me.

Cam Jordan won't be there at 10. I don't understand the reluctance in taking him at #3. 4 year starter, Team captain, NFL bloodlines, dominating PAc10 Luck, Foles, Locker, Barkley have all been force ably introduced to him. He interviews a million times better than Fairely, Dareus, or Miller. He can be the Top5 face of the franchise type of player. Just because Kiper and McShay don't mock him there doesn't mean he is not the guy.
-
Cam doesn't have an accuracy problem he does have a problem making decisions and or making decision too late imo. No idea about Yo Gabba-Gabbert, I tend to think he's not really on OBD's radar. Ponder & Dalton seem to be accurate and good decision makers. However I haven't seen a ton of Ponder tape and have only seen Dalton in a few Bowl games and a couple of regular season games. Locker is horrible at accuracy and decision making.

Carolina has 87 with 3 games so they max out at 93. Carolina plays today against Detroit. If they get two points then our magic number is 1 point. If they get 0 points then we clinch a playoff spot, because they then can only max out at 91 points and as you know we have 92. If Carolina gets an OTL then they can max out at 92 BUT can only max out at 35 wins in regulation or OT if they win their last 2 games in regulation or OT. The Sabres already have 36 Wins in Regulation or OT (both teams have 5 shootout wins which do not count in playoff tie breakers.) So the Sabres would win a tiebreaker if both teams have 92 and then would clinch a playoff spot. So basically the next time Carolina loses in regulation or the Sabres get 1 point the Sabres clinch a playoff spot whichever comes first. So yeah the Sabres magic number is 1.

A mock straight from the Redundancy Department of Redundancy Department. Quinn that would be OLB\Romeus OLB\Special Teamer, Shelpard ILB and Casey Mathews ILB\Special Teamer Jarvis Jenkins that can play "3" part of the 3-4. Rudolph (man I hope he is really better than the kid from Tennessee that was there in the 3rd) I hate this pick in the 2nd, specially #34. Hate Hate hate. Get a TE in FA. There will be FA before the season starts but I guess its not so bad since the trade down gave the extra 2nd. Then Two RTs late in the 4th and 5th. A 3-4 team should have some depth at LB and with this draft, they'll get this, I just don't know if they'll keep 10 LBs on the roster. You think the fans want a RT and some NFL quality LBs? Just a little bit? Plus a TE bad enough to reach on a Rudolph when Stocker looks almost as good to me. I'd really hate this draft but hope Quinn worked out and finds a place in the 3-4. Overall I would be extremely disappointed with One Bills drive especially the 1st two picks if this were the results. The trade down was smart and really the only two picks I like Kelvin Shepard and Jarvis Jenkins as throw ins to move down 4 spots that is GD Deal!

I'll take the Potomac River Basin Indigenous Peoples if I may. Also known as the Washington Redskins. I can do the Ravens too, if no one else volunteers.
-
And by Drafting Brewer we just may be able to get a RT without giving up on the potential of a beast like Jarvis Jenkins.
-
Check your post. 1 team drafted their RT in the 1st round of the teams you mentioned. Just totally spit balling but I say the average draft position of the RT would be around #50-60 range (which is conservative) which is a late second rounder. So to go back to your original post. No I wouldn't trade Jarvis Jenkins and Brewer for Carimi or Sherrod in the first, It'd be a bad move imo (and it appears the opinion of actual pro personal people that make draft decisions when looking at the RTs of the teams you mentioned).

For fun, why don't you find all the starting RT in the NFL and check out where they were drafted. Consider yourself shocked with the results.

Confirmed! Bills are the worst-drafting team in the NFL

Yeah Atlanta, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and New England are just slubs when it comes to drafting and winning playoff games. Many of the Jet's Defenders are players the Ravens drafted. I'd put the Jets around #12 on that list when it comes to drafting. -

I find this funny I agree with you there. -

The question is #4 out of #32 teams. I don't see it. It has nothing to with hate. If you look at the next 7 teams in the list Atlanta, Baltimore, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, New England, Tampa, and New York Giants. Its really hard to make a case that the Jets have drafted better than any of those teams. Still don't get it. -
The difference in on the field performance you get from a RT taken at #32 to #99 is going to be surprisingly minimal. It just has to do with risk. The #99 in theory is going to have more risk to actually earn the PT. From what I've read about Carpenter Brewer and Hall, they look like quality RT prospects. A great use of a 4th round pick. Not to mention unless you have a left handed QB how is taking a RT with your first round pick going to make a huge impact on your team? My point is why use a 1st on a RT? Let alone why trade a talent like Jarvis and a talent like Brewer for a RT?

Brian Billick's thoughts on Bills Draft
1B4IDie replied to Realist's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be more interested in Ozzie Newsome's assessment. -
Yeah because a player's potential is pre-determined and at #65 the team just takes the 65th best person, I don't even know why they bother drafting, they should just deal all the players out like cards.
-
Would not do that even for a second. Sherrod and Carimi are not locks to play LT and Brewer is probably going to be a solid RT. You're buying a brand name with that trade and not really getting anything in return over Brewer

Yeah still don't see it.
