  1. I take it you actually haven't watched any of the "sacks". I'll give Maybin credit in that when the play breaks down because of great coverage his speed shines. It's not like Maybin is getting these sacks by beating a blocker and getting to the QB. All of the sacks were where the play broke down because the Jets took away the pass with their secondary play. We don't have that luxury in Buffalo even if he were on the field he still wouldn't work in Buffalo.
  2. The AP AFC Defensive rookie of the year is really the official one. I cannot find one other mention of NFLPA rookie of the year, It appears this award was only one by Bruce Smith in 1985 on the link you sent. So good awesome. I guess Bruce didn't get benched his rookie year and struggle a little even though its on record, I guess he was NFLPA afc defensive rookie of the year. Great add him to the list.
  3. Good catch, I meant before. Who is the last FA QB? Drew Brees? Teams Very rarely let Quality QBs hit Free Agency. And San Diego had their heir apparent. If the Bills let Fitz walk with no plan it would be off the charts in boneheaded moves.
  4. So I'll take that, as you agree the Bills' best option is to sign Fitzy for something like 5 years, 50 mil ASAP.
  5. You have the luxury of waiting if you have a contingency plan. I don't believe the Bills have a contingency plan. I would hate to see the start of another recycling project in 2012. And it would be shocking if the Bills don't get 4 more wins, which means they're out of the Luck, Landry, Barkley running. So you wait if you have a guy on your bench you'd be happy with starting in 2012. 10 mil a season for a starting QB isn't cost prohibitive. Fitzy has a great backup plan, most likely coming off back to back 3,000 yard seasons with 20+ TDs. A top 7 QB. He will get paid well on the open FA market. There is a sense of urgency because the closer Fitzy gets to FA the closer he might see greener pastures. 10 mil a season in Buffalo or 12 mil a season in Miami . . .
  6. We didn't draft Dalton. If if and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas. Sounds like you don't have a plan if Fitzy walks because you want to waffle. There isn't a good back up plan if Fitzy walks that's why you pay him 5 years 50 mil and get the deal done yesterday.
  7. I'm not saying he is an all time great, I'm saying he is having a great rookie year. 1st round draft picks playing great during their rookie year are very few and far between in Bills history. It's been 4 seasons since we've had a rookie to get excited about in Lynch. (and I'd say that Jim Kelly had the most disappointing rookie season of all since he left Buffalo in the dust, tore it up in Houston and left Buffalo with no sign of ever returning.)
  8. Spoken like someone that works at 7-11. "Yeah you can just find a highly skilled leader of men on a tree. If he doesn't get to the playoffs we cut him loose and give Tyler a shot. Hey that's what I do down down by the docks. If they ain't liftin boxes fast enough, I go get someone that will. " What is your plan, Mr. Wait and See, when he signs with another team for 11 mil a season? and brings Stevie with him?
  9. If you don't know that you want to sign Rtan Fitzpatrick after THREE Seasons of practices and games. What are the next 3 games going to show you? It's just silly to suggest you're going to base a 5 year 50 mil dollar deal on the next 3 games. It's even sillier to squabble over 1-3 mill a year when we both know the Bills will never bump against the salary cap. You sign your QB now because you are an executive for an NFL franchise and you have determined after three seasons of watching a player that you want them to continue to lead your team. You don't waffle and wait and let the player become a free agent. That is a much worse place to put the franchise that you are chartered with making a success. Odds of success in 2012 and 2013 go way down without Fitz. Thinking there are no teams dying to sign Fitz for 10mil a year after draft day, is a sillier idea than the idea of waiting a few more games.
  10. Their rookie year ?
  11. Agreed, It's a no-Brainer. Our own Scott Radecic is the head architect on the project. Get the information over to him. http://portfolio.populous.com/people/radecic_scott.html
  12. Be Specific, Game, QTR, Time, Down and distance. He is not going to win every individual battle, but I have watched him specifically on most Defensive plays, and I've rarely, as in less than 5 times, seen him Get Blocked 1-on1.
  13. They really need to follow, Green Bay's lead on remodeling the Stadium. They made it a year round venue. They have restaurants a HOF and conference rooms that local business can reserve YEAR ROUND! This allows the team and the State to generate revenue year round. I think local Businesses would line up to "off sights" and the Raloh, You get on field tour, catering, and conference rooms. Its a no brainer. It doesn't appear people read to the end of the article (shocker ) Our own Scott Radecic is the head architect on the project. There may be a heavy emphasis on Special Teams in the redesign.
  14. Fred, there's already a thread on the Mortenson speculation. This is just a rehash. Nothing to see here, move on.
  15. Agree with this but in a different way, you can never count on division wins. The 14-2 Patriots got their 1 from the 4-12 dolphins. The Dolphins are going to play the Bills on Miami like its the super Bowl. They last thing they want is their basement dweller co-inhabitant making the playoffs. If they go 4-2 or 3-3 in the division. Those road games against SD and Dal are lynch pins in a playoff run. If they get Ws the sky is the limit. I don't think Ten AT Buf is chalked up as a loss.
  16. I would not make any adjustments to this. For the number of DBs taken by this team it's just silly that CB is still a concensus need.
  17. Byrd was a second round pick. So in the last 33 years 1st round rookies that made a huge impact their rookie year. Dareus Lynch ~Biscuit Conlan
  18. Not in the reality I live in, but good try. (Seems like a straight up lie) http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League_Rookie_of_the_Year_Award
  19. What if the "someone" is the LA Times in 1985. And the fact that he was benched his rookie year? http://articles.latimes.com/1985-10-27/sports/sp-12848_1_bruce-smith Either way that was 26 years ago and the Bills haven't had many successful 1st round picks. So we got Marshawn Lynch. Anyone else? Dareus is big time impact and playing like a veteran.
  20. You mean the buy that is mentioned in the post and a had a slow start his rookie year?
  21. McKelvin made an impact for loosing against the Pats (JUST TAKE A KNEE!!!) and I remember him being more of nickel on defense, McGee and Greer were healthy most if not all of that season. So that would be a no, unless you count negative impact then maybe a yes. Lynch ? - I think you're right he had like 1,000 yards and 3.5+ ypc in like 12 games if I remember; So yes that is a pretty big impact for a rookie
  22. Agree. And when did Dareus have a bad game? What game is he not double teamed on every play? This may sound outlandish at first but seriously think about, When was the last 1st round draft pick that made an impact for the Buffalo Bills in his rookie season? Seriously, lets say you count Cornellius Bennet, even though he was drafted by the Colts? That's still 25 years ago. Lets say you don't count Biscuit because he was drafted by the Colts . . .????? Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas all didn't have spectacular rookie years. Dareus has made a huge impact out of the gate and was responsible for the tipped pass that Florence ran back that broke the Patriots winning streak. If he stays healthy and keeps getting the attention opposing teams gives him, or punishes them if they decide he only needs to be single teamed this will be one of the best picks in Buffalo Bills history. It certainly appears as if Dareus is the most impactful 1st round rookie in Buffalo Bills history.
  23. TBDers this is called logic: This: "I heard T.O. is healthy. Sign up!!!! I heard of him before. I think he has a lot of catches or something. Sign him! Sign him!" Is not logic. Signing T.O. is illogical in my opinion.
  24. +100000 Noooooooo!!!!!!! Drop this idea like the majority of passes that hit T.O.'s hands. Nooooooo!!! And just think of Ruvell Martin as ST not WR. Chan gave him a chance to catch passes. He couldn't. He hasn't been out in offense since and he is doing a good job on STs. Special teams is important and Martin is playing well there.
  25. Too bad "dinner's on me Smartypants" wasn't going on this year. That would have been funny. vs Washington - First Ever win in Canada! W vs New York - How bad did the Jests look on Monday night? W @ Dallas - The Cowgirls don't look too hot but I can see the Bills screwing that up - L @ Miami - With that fast defense and maybe the Dolphins WRs actually catch the ball in Miami - L @ New York - You can't win all of them - L (At this point fans freak out going from 6-2 to 6-5) vs Tennessee - Tennessee looks tough, But some nice home cooking gets a W @ San Diego - Thats a Long trip L vs Miami - The Dolphins WRs won't catch in Buffalo in December - W vs Denver - Tebow or no Tebow thats a W (9-6) @ New England - Bills Need a win for the 6th seed, Patriots have the #1 overall seed wrapped up. but they don't sit their starters and knock the Bills out of the playoffs. - L A surprising yet disappointing 9-7 Now if they get the job done in Dallas 10-6 gets them in the playoffs. Every game is big but if they get at least one win out of those two road games @Dallas and @ San Diego it will have a huge effect on the playoff picture. Now if they break off 5 division wins in a row (which is possible) obviously a first round bye might be on the table going into week 17. Its fun to watch football in OCTOBER that is still meaningful let alone November, December, January and dare I say February
