  1. Yah, Derek in VA had a doosey in there too. Did GoBills really know Fitz was the QB of the future. ;-)
  2. Brandon Graham who is still out for Philly? (that was the guy I was afraid would be the first round pick, I'd rather have the Luxurious CJ Spiller 1000 times over Graham was an old Bills' regime pick. Quick first step, Big 10, crap written all over him)
  3. Yeah all those guys are two time Defensive players of the year? You are an idiot or you don't know who Cornelius Bennett is, it has to be one or the other.
  4. You guys know the 1988 and 1989 draft already happened right? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_NFL_Draft http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988_NFL_Draft Looking at what was available at those picks. Biscuit was well worth the trade. Where could they have "easily" picked up similiar talent? Because where ever this place is, where you easily find game changing pass rushers that are stout at playing the run, the Bills need to go there today. In reality, where I live, it's not easy to find players like Biscuit.
  5. It is real simple, and there really isn't much to discuss. Do the Bills have a salary cap problem? No. Is Merriman a distraction or causes harm to the team? No. (He seems like a team guy and I wouldn't mind if he was hired as coach if he is done) So you give him until Pre-Season to see if his lights go back "IN"?. . .or maybe "OUT"? Either way if he looks as dominant as he did this pre-season and doesn't get injured again you keep him on the team. If he isn't healthy in Pre-Season you cut him and save the roster spot for a young guy. (Also it'd be nice if that first round OLB you just drafted in the 2012 draft looks beastly in Pre-Season)
  6. How about if eithier team makes the playoffs you stop posting on all bills and Sabres websites? Deal?
  7. I need a another AFc championship like a need hole in my head. Throw another C on the Lombardi trophy. We can do it!
  8. We were talking about her pages? Is that what the kids call them now a days?
  9. Merriman really did look awesome in pre-season. Big Strong fast dominant. Yeah it was pre-season, but he still looked like a force to be reckoned with. If the is true: (linky??) It sounds like a proactive tune up surgery, as opposed to another rupture\reconstruction. I doubt he gets cut then. It would make more sense to see how he comes out of this surgery in training camp and preseason 2012. He is still cheap and can be cut next year before the roster bonus in September 2012. So I'd expect some more Merriman discussions for the next year. However is the statement is not true and he blew a tire again, It's not likely he can make it back . Cadillac Williams is only person to come back from two different Achilles, I don't know of anyone that came back from blowing the same Achilles twice.
  10. Wow, that Maybin thread is also about to flare up.
  11. You can't use a Tee for a Free Kick in the NFL or College or you would see it much more often. Especially as I've seen many kicks through the uprights off a tee this year, since the kickoff was moved up 5 yards. Basically you need a perfect storm of less than 20 seconds no tiemouts and a short punt from behind the 10. Otherwise it makes more sense to take a couple offensive plays and see if you can get a TD. If you could use a tee, that would change the storm a LOT.
  12. You forgot "Ralph is too cheap to sign him." OK. Now we're done.
  13. Exactly and I'm not sure when David Jones will be back.
  14. If you watched that horrible game last night. It's clear that the Bills, are taking the same defensive philosophy as the Jags and a few other teams in the league. Rush 4 and cover with 7, blitz when you have a free backer or Safety. The Jags were "successful" last night in that defensive Philosophy and we're generating pressure on the QB. Basically play the Nickel and Dime schemes,(maybe not the personal packages) as your base defense and mix in some in some unexpected blitzes. With the pass happy NFL, it makes sense. If you can generate pressure with your just your front four. Byrd and Scott blized a few times earlier in the season but when the opposing team goes 5 wide the Blitzes won't happen. We're not getting consistent pressure from the front 4 and we're not blitzing as often. The Jets take a different defensive approach. Blitz like crazy and let your corners cover. When you have the Jets DBs you can do that. If you were to switch DB personal with the Jets and Bills the Jets would be getting eaten up on a regular basis, even if you keep their front 7 which is generating pressure. So all that said. Maybin's speed is shinny through on extended plays, and plays that break down. He touched a QB that ran out of bounds, he caught up with Flacco near the line of scrimmage after about 8 second on a broken play, and he got to Rivers after the receivers were covered. I don't believe this happens if he is in Bills uniform. He is a good fit for the Jests. Now that obviously leads to the decisions we've made in our defensive philosophy, which of course isn't proving successful, but Maybin would't fix that.
  15. Really? I thought if you but a message on a message board the trade just happens in real life and that's all it takes. No ****. A team that misses out on Landry or Luck might be willing to take Bradford at a late first or second round "discount". They can work on an "extension" that will rebalance the money. Bradford and his agent might not mind if he gets more upfront money. It's a no brainer for the team getting Bradford, and its a no brainer for the Lambs because they save some serious cabbage. (Its less likely for the Lambs to go to Bradford and say, "Hey Dude WTF, We're still 1-15, You arse needs a pay cut." It shows a lack of commitment and has all kinds of personal problems. A new team can say "Hey Dude, you got a sick deal but we can't afford that. We'll give you some more upfront cabbage if we can restructure the recurring costs.") It's really not that far fetched. The only problem is, my money is on the Colts for #1 overall. I think the Lambs will pull out a few Ws, so the scenario won't play out. The question is "Who is in play if the Rams end up with #1 pick." The Answer is "Luck is still in play." 27 is young for a QB, he still has at least 8 more years of QBing in the NFL, if he is any good.
  16. And the secondary . . . it took about 4 seconds. You can see Rivers have more than enough time to pump it, but the recovers were covered. Matthews blocked well enough to give Rivers the time to throw to the hot read but not well enough for time for a Brady-esque read the NY Times pocket.
  17. I can think of a 4 year $25 mill guaranteed reason why they would be interested in trading that $50 mill reason to the #2, #3 or #4 over pick and taking the 4 year $25 mill Luck themselves. Money-wise it would even make sense to do it for the #34 overall pick. You just freed up a ton of salary room and you arguably get a better QB.
  18. There wasn't a truer statement. Orakpo was the obvious pick. I don't think you can count on a 5-6 second sack. If you watch the play its clear that Maybin isn't playing LB LB. Which is what the Bills need. He is playing "Safety Blitz LB" which I still think wouldn't help. But to your point, yeah if we got to a situation where the play is extended, it would be nice if someone got to the QB. Still Maybin on the roster doesn't make the defense better imo. If you call Spiller a "luxury" pick. Maybin is playing like a "luxury pick" when the Bills can't afford that luxury.
  19. The other sack I saw came on a broken play where he caught Flacco from behind. Not really the "pressure" kind of sack. I give Maybin and Rex credit that his speed is being leverage because of great DB play. As the play breaks down because the pass is being taken away, he gets back on his feet after being blocked to the ground and can sprint faster than most people on the field to the ball. Again, its not game changing pressure. Its flukey coverage sacks. Once Maybin got knocked down the Bills' DBs would NOT give him enough time to get back up and contribute. He could have 10 sacks for the Jets like that, and would have 0 sacks for the Bills like that, and everyone would spend the year bitching that we let Carrington go, to keep the waste of space Maybin and he can't even play Special Teams.
  20. You might want to count again. Especially if you start it from the beginning of the play.
  21. The key point is that they were coverage sacks. Maybin wouldn't help the Bills with a pass rush. The Jets have a great secondary and can afford to have this one dimensial player.
  22. Which is clear to anyone that actually saw these "sacks" instead of seeing the stat line.
  23. Takeo Spikes is having a huge game, but he's actually playing LB not running essentially a safety blitz like Maybin. You guys want to whine about that cut too?
  24. Or maybe they trade Bradford for Miami's first. Luck will be cheaper (and better)
