Anyone catch Gailey on Mike & Mike at 7:30?
1B4IDie replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stevie hasn't been the most dangerous WR this season. Rex knows this. Just because on paper Stevie is the "#1WR" doesn't mean he automatically gets the Revis treatment. I bet you Revis will be played all over the field even in the slot on Nelson. Say you take away Stevie's 39 catches. You still have Nelson's 31 Mr. Jackson's 27 and Roosevelt\CJ\Donald Jones 39. I'm really interested to see how this works out. When Maybin is in there on an obvious passing play. You may even see check down to a Center\Guard Pull sweep run play. So that Wood or Levitre can pancake and road grade Maybin or at least I dream this will happen. 3rd and 15, Jackson sweep at Maybin. 1st and 10. That would be awesome -

Revis island doesn't exist when you have 5 wide. Revis island works in a traditional 2 WR 1 TE set. Revis can take away 1/3 of the field that way and let the Safties come in for run support or blitzing, or let the LBs blitz and the safeties cover, either way you have lots of options for the other 10 players. When you go 5 wide that strategy has to be adjusted because so what if Revis erases 1 WR, there are 4 more that have to be covered. Some of the WRs are running routes under the WR that takes Revis out of the play if they stay in man, therefore the island is no more. So in that sense we will be taking away "Revis Island" for much of the afternoon. -
By very limited, I think they mean not practicing. Chan and Levitre know what they're doing. If you follow buffalo coverage ( the only coverage that knows the name of our QB) You'd know Levitre didn't practice to rest his shoulder but he is 100% go for game time and that Hariston is back for Sunday as well. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Bills-could-have-two-left-tackles-Sunday/210e060c-34c8-4156-bd8c-fb7d26002614

I gotta funny feeling gmen will upset pats

You might want to watch a replay of the game. The giants looked many things but not flawless. -
It's easy to make this prediction when you watch fantasy football stats, and not the actual football games. The Jets don't look good on the football field where the game is played. I am 100% certain the Bills will score a TD. It's more likely that Sanchez was a turnover filled day, he hasn't had one in awhile, than the Bills not score a TD. Eric Mack is from western New York, what a douchebag. http://www.cbssports.com/columns/writers/mack/bio Unless he is using reverse psychology and trying to get this on the Bills bulletin board, in that case he may be a genius or have illusions of grandeur.

The Giants barely beat the Bills in NJ The Giants barely beat the Dolphins in NJ The Giants didn't look particularly good in either game. There is little chance the Giants beat the Patriots in New England. Like 0.0000001% chance. -

Bills will wear White at home this weekend
1B4IDie replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A white out makes the stadium look empty. And the white on white uniforms, make the Bills look like the colts. (Maybe we fooled the Football gods so far this year, they though they were bestowing these wins to the Colts and the Manning family) -
$12M over 6 years is a lot of money in a vacuum. but $12 Mil out of a potential $720M worth of salary over the 6 years is less than 2% And if you plot the difference and negotiate from there, it's really a few 100K one way or the other. If they wanted to get it done, they could. That's why I say its not really that far apart. I've never thought that, no offense, but I'm not sure why anyone would think that. Every player wants to be the top paid at their position and thinks they deserve more than they get. It's up to the market to form the value of the player and the agent to get as close to the highest market value as possible. Yes Agents are greedy and want the most money for their clients, but I bet you they have to sell less than the top paid at their position, gently to their clients more often than not. It's really up t to the agent, to get the most money and sell the deal to the player too. There's obviously a disconnect in the Stevie Johnson talks, and it looks like he'll be testing the FA market, unless they use the franchise tag, Which I think would end up costing the Bills more than the $2M that they are off by, meaning Stevie Johnson will be playing for a different team if he hits Free Agency. Not nervous nelly, (He is fun, but replaceable) Just saying if they were serious about keeping Stevie Johnson in the further a 25 year old 7th round pick that has proven himself to work hard and perform, they would get the deal done before he becomes a Free Agent. I can tell you with 100% certainly there is no risk in the Bills being anywhere near the cap, if they sign their key contributors, Wood, Levitre, Lindell, Jackson, and Johnson to extensions now. (when they are in theory cheaper. ) With Levitre's solid LT fill in, he almost certainly going to the pro bowl this year. That means more $$$$$.

2 Mil apart on 120 Mill salary cap isn't that far apart. It seems like they could work it out if they were serious. But yes, 1 or both of the sides seem content to part ways. From the Bills perspective you can pay an extra dozen 100K in order to prove to your 7th rounders and UDFAs, that are huge contributors to your team, that there is light at the end of the tunnel IN BUFFALO instead of proving to everyone that you need to leave Buffalo in order to get paid, but that's just me.

How does this: Have anything to do with this: No where does it say make every player the highest paid player. No where does it say give everyone an 8-figure deal. It simply says, sign players that you want to keep before they become FAs. What the player "wants" is irrelevant. What the market will bear and where you value the player is relevant. Once a player becomes a FA you get to see the real market value of the player and you make not be willing to pay it. If you sign a player before they hit an open market 9/10 you will pay less for that player. If you let a player hit Free Agency they leave your team more often than they stay (go ahead at least the few players that re-sign after hitting FA but if you do that list all the players that go to a different team, then compare the two.) If a management team lets a player become a Free Agent they are saying in no uncertain terms, "we are completely content to let you leave the team, we really don't value you that much."
-
Actually you don't. And there is actual urgency because the time to sign FAs that you want to keep is the off season before they become free agents. Every week goes by you have less leverage and the player has more leverage. The closer the player gets to having 31 other teams compete for that player's services the less likely the player will return to your team. It's a very simple concept. I'm sure Buddy has an old country saying that expresses that competition can cost you more money in the long run. Something along the lines off proposing to a debutant before her ball. It's really just silly to suggest otherwise. Once Stevie is a FA the market goes up, not down. The Bills do not have an option to match. Letting Stevie walk is a lesson to David Nelson, Donald Jones, Scott Chandler, and Naaman Roosevelt that if you work hard, do the right things and perform well, the Bills still won't pay you.

We can only focus on 1 contract at a time? Did we only hire a part time high school kid to negotiate contracts?

I don't think JinWPB is making excuses. I've watched 3 Jests games this year and they get some real sweetheart calls. They shouldn't have beat the Dolphins. As long as the Zebras stay clean, the Bills can sweep the Jests. Is it coincidence that some of the worst calls this season and non calls have allowed the Jests to win games or is there a conspiracy? I don't care. As long as the coincidences don't happen this Sunday.

Hypothetical: Fred Jackson New Contract
1B4IDie replied to JuanGuzman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually now that you mention it . . . That smooth gliding type of runner that always finds away to glance of a defender and fall forward when wrapped up. Great out of the backfield in a receiving Capacity. I can see the similarities and similarities in the running style. That's a a better simile. -

The Bills are proof that the NFL needs a D-league
1B4IDie replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, I know the NFL has an investment in the AFL. I know they broadcast CFL games on the NFL network so, there must be some relationship. They could have an agreement where you can send players to the AFL. They can be badged like they were in NFL Europe. They should use those leagues better. -

or option 3, a "3 year" 25 million contract with about 15 mil guaranteed. -

1.) A 3-4 DE doesn't play "inspace" - they generally are covered by an OLB. (that would be a 4-3 DE that plays "inspace") 2.) as many other have pointed out it is DarEus 3.) If you really did watch the games you would see lots of 4 man fronts, You can tell they are 4 man fronts because Kelsay has his hand on the ground as DE with DarEus next to him on the inside, 4.) This thread is just one giant fail. -

And it loses money and is likely going to be shutdown, like NFL Europe, in the near future. The real question is, is there room in ticket and merchandise buyers' wallet for anther pro football league? The Answer is - - - Maybe. The UFL is actually positioning itself as a minor league to the NFL and has made that known. I think the NFL is watching to see if the UFL can make a profitable business plan, then if successful invest. There is no threat to the Trillion dollar NFL market. Until the UFL or another league proves they can make a profit I doubt there will ever be a D-League because the NFL has a free D-League in College football. They have even set the rules to enter the NFL as such that it forces kids that just want to go professional out of High School, like you can in Hockey Baseball or Basketball. to go to College (or do something else, wink, go to college football) for 3 years after High School. But yes it seems to be a no brainer to start the league 3 weeks after the Super Bowl have it run into training camp season for the NFL. Yes the kids will have no off season if they go from the D-eague to the NFL but, you got to hustle to make it in this world. It's the only way to get $$$. -
No Extension Talks Between Bills and Stevie Johnson
1B4IDie replied to CBD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stevie is a seems like a great leader of the goon squad and has embraced Buffalo, his play is not that of a Top 10 WR but certainty a Top 20 WR If he walks in Free Agency it shows the young WRs if you want to be paid well you need to move to another team. The Bills have to extend him if only to prove to these young UDFAs and 7th round picks that the Bills will reward hard work. If they let him go I think you can find a similar talent on the field but its hard to find leaders in the clubhouse. The Bills are way under the salary floor, time to start paying the contributors to this resurgence. He is an Unrestricted Free Agent after this season. So he is only less of a priority if you're planning to Franchise him, Which in my opinion would be a completely stupid waste of the franchise tag and lead you to vastly over pay for Stevie's services. -
Make that 1. Chandler wasn't his sole responsibility on the second TD. He just was the only that realized Chandler was running uncovered. After the play you can see Fletcher yelling at the DBs the one said "you're right, my bad" Either way if your D-Co schemes to have 5-9 Fletcher cover 6-7 Chandler in the red zone. The play is over before it begins.

It's great that Lil' Donte made way for George Wilson ( who was clearly better the last few years) It's great the Poz made way for our FA freak in Barnett. And now Merriman is making way for our secret Weapon Don't cross the Moats! He was All over the QB and ball (even if he was diving in late on some plays.) Add in a ton of Dareus, plus a sprinkle of Heard and Dwon Edwards and you got a recharged defense. I was impressed with Harrison's (who played the position in the NFL) comment. Add George Wilson to the "Pay the Man" list. We need to get to that salary floor and George Wilson deserves a chunk of that money.

Correctamundo. I live in DC and told my buddy if the Redskins had 11 London Fletchers they'd probably be 7-0.He was everywhere and the only person that was trying in the second half. I mean playing against the practice squad would have been a more difficult effort. At the time I saw London's age so wasnt crushed when he left. But always loved his effort and leadership. Dick Mouron didn't know what to do with a guy like that he needed DBs at all 11 defensive positions. Poz never could fill those shoes. It really has taken until today to get back on track to any semblance of a defense. Not there yet but the arrow is pointed up.
