Bills appear to avoid a likely 2012 Draft Bust
1B4IDie replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bleacher report is not a source. Its the same thing as this message board, except way less credible. -
We have more punt returners and kick returners that can't play their offensive of defensive position than we need. No thanks on one more. No Dareus . . . No Mario , . . Which also means no dud at #10 like Coples or Ingram . . . An we can get an impact player like (fingers crossed) Floyd . . . Which means more wins.

+1000. Bucky Brooks continues to prove himself to be a boob.

Bills appear to avoid a likely 2012 Draft Bust
1B4IDie replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was only Len Bias. That would go in the "Unlikely" category. I've also heard of Tom Cousineau too. -
There appears to be two crowds of thought forming by Bills Fans there is the Kulchey/DeCastro/Reiff posse forming and an anyone but those three posse forming. The prospects in the second camp look at Floyd/Gilmore/Kirkpatrick/Martin/Adams/Cordy Glenn. Then you have the Ingram/Upshaw/DT outliers. Most everyone also seems to agree that if somehow Luck/RGIII/Kalil/Clariborne/Richardson/Blackmon fell to #10 then you take them (yes even Richardson) Either way the great news is I don't see the word "Bust" being thrown around. So lets take a look at LIKELY (Kulchey or any of the other prospect could go on a OJ-like rampage but lets stay in the realm of likely outcomes) basements with these Ten possible prospects at #12. Kulchey - Worst Case Poz Part II - not a bust DeCastro - Worst Case Urbik Part II - not a complete bust Reiff - Worst Case Urbik Park II - not a bust Floyd - Worst Case Peerless Price - not a complete bust Kirkpatrick - Worst Case McKelvin - Kinda of a bust not a complete bust Gilmore - Worst case becomes a Safety like lil Donte- Not a bust; still contributing Martin - Worst case Plays RT Adams - Worst Case Plays RT Glenn - Worst Case Urbik Part II - not a complete bust Ingram - Worst case rotational DE - Kinda a Bust but not complete bust Upshaw - Worst case Can't get on the field because he is too slow - bust Again we're talking Likely Worst case here. The great news is I don't see the Bills taking a player that will be a complete bust and won't contribute in some way. We may not get the best "value" out of the #10 overall pick, but the Bills should get a contributor. In most years past this was not the case. The chance of a player busting was much higher. Maybin before the draft had a high bust likelihood. I would say not any of these prospects have a high bust likelihood. I'd prefer some prospects over others (Floyd) but I don't expect to be throwing stuff at the TV like in past year's Draft (even if Kulchey was the pick ))

Excellent job compiling all this information. I agree completely here. The Kuelchy, DeCastro, and Reiff talk seems misguided. I think you've nailed the likely Bills draft board. It's going to come down to the 6 players you mentioned. Floyd Gilmore/Kirpatrick Martin/Adams/Glenn The order of those 2 CB and 3 Tackles is the big question. We get to see the answer in about two weeks and 14 hours. If the pick is outside of those 6 players (assuming the top 6 don't fall) I would be shocked.

Decastro at because no other picks would have his impact
1B4IDie replied to 26TrapDraw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with the concept of taking the sure thing, I believe that DeCastro will be a good NFL player, possibly All-Pro. I disagree that DeCastro is a vast improvement over Urbik. I believe DeCastro is an incremental improvement over Urbik. An improvement that would not significantly change the way the Bills' offense would function on the field of play. The pick is too safe and won't have a huge impact in my opinion. Not to mention that there is a slim to none chance that Buddy Nix would actually make the pick. -

1B4IDie replied to 26TrapDraw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ans 2 is incorrect. You roll the dice on every pick in every round of the draft. That is the nature of the NFL draft. Since you bring Buddy into it, Buddy has been very clear that he believes in drafting Tackles and moving them to Guard. That is how he operates his NFL Franchise in Orchard Park, NY. I don't know why anyone would expect the Bills to draft DeCastro, it ain't gonna happen. -

What can the Bills do on the field of play with Decastro at RG that they can't do with Urbik? DeCastro would have almost no impact on the Bills in 2012, playing at the most easy position to find and fill in the NFl, RG. I'm sure the guy will be a stalwart O-lineman overtime but unless they plan on letting Wood walk (which would be stupid) youre not getting an impact over a guy that you signed off of another team's practice squad. Not a smart move. Roll the dice on player at a position that can make a difference. Don't play it that safe. "Scared money, don't make money." -
Will the Bills Draft a OB? I say: NO, but maybe?
1B4IDie replied to CSBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless we add a woman to the roster I doubt the bills draft an OB into service. -
Pretty good draft. Two Observations: 1.) Just say no to every QB under 6'1" even in the 7th round. It is a stupid waste of time hoping you strike Vick, Brees, or Flutie lightening. There is almost no chance they will ever be good enough to be worth any pick 2.) In 34 years of living I have never heard the phrase "A true #2." I don't know what that means and now in this offseason I have heard it twice.

Don't get me wrong Decastro should be a stud. It's more about value. RG has got be the easiest OL position to find and fill. Taking a RG at the #10 overall spot makes less sense than taking a punter at #10 overall. Wood spent half of his career at RG and it looked like a wasted late first round pick because why would you take a RG in the first round? By the way Urbik has played pretty well at RG. So unless they plan on letting Wood walk (which wouldn't be smart) taking DeCastro is taking a player that doesn't give you a significant impact over the player you signed off of another teams practice squad. What could the Buffalo Bills do with Decastro on the roster that they couldn't do with Urbik?

Good work. I know you put some thought into this but two suggestions. 1.) Dr. D has a post started where he went through the same exercise. That would be a good place to post this. 2.) When you talk about trading draft picks, be more specific with the details. Why in the world would another team trade up to the #10 spot if you don't believe there is a worthwhile talent that the Bills should pick at #10? The Bills trading back out of the #10 is only going to happen if a prospect falls to #10 that the Bills wouldn't want to draft like Tannehill or Richardson that another team covets. Even then I could see Nix and Gailey taking Richardson to replace the 30+ year old Freddy. (Not saying I want this to happen. Just saying if i did happen, I wouldn't be shocked.)
-
For the Kuechly crowd, If the Bills were interested in taking an inside LB than may or may not play outside in the NFL at the #10 overall pick, Why wouldn't they have taken Mark Herzlich in the 7th in 2011? You get a better player, better story, at a cheaper price. Don't get your hopes up Kuechly, it is not very likely imo.

Did we go to the Notre Dame pro-day or not?

The only link I could find says 18 teams went to notre Dame's pro day. So there is a 9/16 chance -
DrD's Mock Draft and 53 Man Roster
1B4IDie replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love this draft. I think some of the 5th and 6th round names might be stretches to be there when the Bills pick. None the less if this draft happened in reality, I'd be doing backflips. I agree here. Heard played very well in his time on the field. I noticed him a few times holding his ground and pushing the pocket back. He was singled a lot while Dareus was doubled and Heard wasn't washed out too often. Troup is like Easely. A figment of one Bills Drive imagination. Speaking of Easely unless he or Donald Jones take the Gunner position on Special Teams one of them will be gone. You can pencil Ruvell Martin on the 53 man roster, like it or not. He is the Bills Special Teamer "Ace". For a change the rest of the NFL will be watching the Bills when they cut down to the 53 man roster. Batten - Troup - Donald Jones - Marcus Easely - Heard - McGee - Dwan Edwards - Jonny White and Others might be coveted by other teams. Gonna be some crazy camp battles. -
Gil Brandt Updated Top 100 Prospects

I'm not surprised though. I expect Floyd to shoot up the rankings. The closer we get to draft day, the less important the alcohol citations look compared to his NFL potential. I've been saying for Months and especially since the measuring at the combine that Floyd is a bigger stronger Blackmon. At this point I doubt Floyd will be there at #10 so all the teetotalers can be happy that the Jags or 'Fins have a sick receiving threat. In this case it appears that Floyd didn't shoot up the rankings but that Blackmon dropped. Which again I'm not surprised. I like Blackmon but I've said it before this just looks like Michael Crabtree all over again. Dominating College football player but when he plays at the next level against NFL sized players he isn't as dominating. Crabtree at Texas Tech would take games over. Blackmon at OSU would take games over. He'll have a good career but being under 6"1" hurts for a WR. Those jumpballs aren't as easy to grab, those blocks aren't as easy to make in the NFL. Michael Crabtree, Jeremy Maclin, and Justin Blackmon will all be very good NFL receivers just not game changers. -
Vikings willing to trade 3rd pick

If this is true. The NFL will change the schedule around out of principal. They can't allow leaked information like that. Expect them to juggle the schedule, if they haven't sent it to too many printers. April 24th.

Wow! That's it. You blew my my mind. I never understood why these people care what these men do in their personal lives. That's it. You've explained. + 100 I don't claim to be holier than the players. "Just win baby!" -
My Road games this year will be @ Indi or @ San Fran If those are the dates I might be able to do both.

The Bell has gonged: Reiff is our guy
1B4IDie replied to BillsCelticsAngelsBama's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Reiff's character issues make him undraftable. (Let alone his inability to play LT in the NFL) http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1695597
