I think Michael Crabtree is a good WR. I think Blackmon will be a good WR. No I think he is thinking straight.

So we're about 50 hours away from the 2012 draft. Through the hours and hours of research, discussion and grilling of Buddy Nix' words, I've come to the conclusion that anything can happen in the 2012 draft for the Bills. (Shocker!) The 2011 draft went amazing for the Bills. Nix and Whaley are a vast improvement in the draft and FA department over everyone since Polian. I'm looking forward to building the team into a playoff contender with another great draft in 2012. The 1.10 pick is going to be wide open. Seriously anything can happen this year. I wouldn't put a trade down out of the realm of possibility either. Shoot with all the extra 4th, and 5th picks a trade up, could even happen. In the 2012 draft there are 6 Consensus "Elite" prospects. If anyone of these guys fall to #10 the Bills would be hard pressed to pass up. Andrew Luck - You can dream. RGII - Still Dreaming Trent Richardson - Yes we have 30 year old FJAX and Spiller but in the small outside chance he falls to #10 you still have to take him. Matt Kalil - Personally I am little worried about how nasty he is; he seems a little too SoCal for my Buffalo roots. I like my O-Linemen to be blue collar, mean, and nasty. He should be a solid LT and is probably the only undisputed true Left Tackle in the 1st round. Justin Blackmon - I think his ceiling is much more Michael Crabtree than Jerry Rice, but everyone thinks he is a sure thing. If he falls to 10, I hope he is too. Morris Claiborne - Should be a great CB. All of these 6 should be off the board when the Bills pick at #10 if somehow 1 falls it will be hard to justify a reach past one of these 6 for another prospect. Now for the cast and crew that is a realistic possibility at #10: Luke Kuechly BC ILB - Bills fans love this guy. I don't. He is a college tackling machine. Can he play with the Big Boys in the NFL? Yes. Can he be a complete stud of a LB worthy of the #10 overall pick? Maybe. Can you find someone in the 4th round that can play OLB 90% as good as the impact Kuechly would have? Yes. Ryan Tannehill Texas A&M QB - The Bills likely won't draft the 3rd QB in this draft, but could make an interesting trade down partner - Think Gaine Blabbert with actual potential. Riley Reiff Iowa RT - Iowa LTs get drafted high, come to the NFL and realize they can't play LT in the NFL then play RT or Guard. I have no reason to believe Reiff is special, better or different than Robert Gallery OG or Bryan Baluga RT. Pears actually played well at RT. This is one guy I would be worried about being a partial bust. Good news is he is almost certainly a solid RT or Guard in the NFL but @#10 overall you're looking for a LT. Michael Floyd Notre Dame WR - If he can keep his drinking in control, He is a sure thing imo. This guy's ceiling is through the roof. He is basically a bigger stronger Justin Blackmon. He did better at the combine than AJ Green did last year. The 2 alcohol related incidents and the DUI is a big deal though. Plus he wasn't on the list of college prospects that visited One Bills Drive so Nix may have black balled him completely. Don't be surprised if he ends up Rookie of the Year or ends up in jail with a few more DUIs. Quinton Coples North Carolina DE43 - Before the Mario Williams and Anderson signings the draft @#10 was simple for the Bills. Whomever you rank higher Between Coples, Ingram and Mercilus thats who you take. I doubt that happens now but it could be an outside possibility. David DeCastro Stanford OG - this dude will be a beast RG for decades in the NFL, but do you really want to draft a RG @ #10 overall? RG is probably the easiest to find Offensive line position in the NFL. Courtney Upshaw Alabama OLB34 - Before we switched to a 4-3, This draft looked like a 1 player draft for the Bills. Courtney Upshaw or Bust. Now he is not likely on the radar. Stephon Gilmore South Carolina CB - Drayton Florence is getting old, McGee may already be done. McKelvin doesn't appear to be coachable and will probably be out of Buffalo soon. Aaron Williams looks like he can be a real deal CB. There will be a huge need at CB. Don't be surpassed if the Bills have him high on their board and they make a Jauronian pick at CB Whitney Mercilus Illinois DE43 - See Coples Melvin Ingram South Carolina OLB34 - See Coples but this would be my pick of the three. Mark Barron Alabama SS - People are really starting to hype this guy. He does look great on highlight reels. THIS IS A GREAT TRADE DOWN possibility. San Diego could make a run for him and maybe the Bills will be sitting pretty at @#10. San Diego and Buffalo couldn't work out a trade down for Spiller two years ago, maybe they can connect on Barron. Dre Kirkpatrick Alabama CB - See Gilmore. They may like Kirkpatrick over Gilmore. I personally don't. The Bills are in a great position this year, outside of LT, there is no overwhelming hole on the team. Lots of holes but many of them are partially covered. This allows the Bills to take the best player that will have the most impact. The great news is I don't see a complete bust in this year's possibilities at #10. Maybe Reiff can't play LT but he will still play RT and contribute. Maybe Floyd gets in to some off the field trouble, but he will likely shine when in uniform on Sundays. T-Minus 50 hours or so and we will see what happens. I can't wait.

Hold up! Baltimore, GM Ozzie Smith has been monitoring this thread . With the 60th pick in the NFL draft the Ravens select Ronell "The Hammer" Lewis OLB Oklahoma.
-
James Brown - Troy - OG Is the selection for Baltimore if I can get my pick in. I'll be around tonight. Monday is not a good day for me to get on her during the day.

There's talk that Kalil could slide out of the top 10.
1B4IDie replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So when it was obvious that the Bills weren't drafting Kalil. I didn't feel the need to enter my two cents. Now that there is talk that he might be sliding. I was happier with thought Kalil would be off the board when the Bills pick. He just doesn't seem nasty to me. His brother Ryan Kalil is nasty. Matt Kalil in totally unscientific, and just perception through fluff draft video seems like he is just Ryan's little buddy. Not a Big bad NFL LT. Although I don't really give these thoughts much credence, I can't help thinking them. If Kalil did fall to the Bills, man I hope I'm way off on this irrational feeling. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d827aff5b/Draft-Journey-The-Kalil-brothers -
Urlacher also had 6 TD catches as a WR and returned kicks. He played the "Lobo" in a 3-3-5 defense, he wasn't really a safety per say he just owned the entire field. Yes Koochie is no Urlacher but you're drafting him at ten in the hope he becomes the next great MLB otherwise you don't draft him at #10 overall. I didn't mean that you compare Urlacher's college career to Kuelchy. I don't know if there will ever be another player that did everything for a program like Urlacher did in New Mexico. Just a freak.

I actually think Bryan Scott is a good fit for the role of being the TE shadow, i'm not sure you're getting an immediate upgrade over who we have on the roster today for that specific task. All around though obviously Luke Kuechly is probably a much better long term solution than Bryan Scott. The point still being. Luke Kuechly isn't likely going to come in and be the "Showdown LB" for TE coverage that people seem to continuously bring up. It is not flawed thinking at all. I have played sports. Size is not the only factor but is a factor. Have you seen Rob Gronkowski play football? Have you spoken English for very long? I don't understand your last sentence.

There will be the educated fans that Understand McGee is approaching retirement and appears to have dropped off, Florence is approaching retirement, McKelvin appears to be incapable of learning how to turn his head and identify the ball while covering, and Aaron Williams is an unknown but looks like he cold be 1 solid starter. Meaning that there is a big need and CB that Gilmore or Kirkpatrick would meet. the Uneducated will be screaming "NOT ANOTHER DB!!! I THOUGHT WE GOT RID OF JOURON!"
-
The odds of Gilmore or Kirkpatrick being the pick are growing, as It seems almost certain Floyd will be off the board not to mention Floyd didn't visit OBD. Gilmore or Kirkpatrick will most likely be a solid pick. However the entire Bills Community is going to say "NOT ANOTHER DB!!!!"
-
He is 31 and Bill Belichek and Andy Reid both had problems keeping him in line. So I'm thinking most of the league isn't going to be too psyched about the idea of trading for that contract. He is heading for a release and Free Agency if he leaves Philly.
-
Exactly, so drafting Kuechly in the hopes he stops the new wave of large uncover able TEs, isn't realistic. Again I'm not saying he isn't going to be a good NFL player. Some people think he is going to be a "Shutdown LB" for TEs That just doesn't make sense to me.
-
Luke Kulchey is 6'3" 242 Rob Gronkowski is 6'6" 265. Rob is still open with Luke standing right next to him. You think Brady isn't going to throw to Hernandez or Gronk because a little rookie LB is running in their vicinity?
-
Can you please enlighten to what his numerous infractions are?
-
I understand that.

Its not even close. We had an annual BBQ on Saturday during the draft. Now its seems stupid BBQ for 4th round picks. Bring back the Saturday afternoon 1st round draft!!! If you want to spread out than have Monday be the 4th through 7th.
-
You know that 40% is an awesome hit rate for any position in the draft. That has to be one of the highest success rates of any position. Are you advocating drafting a WR or not?
-
Its Brian Urlacher. If you take Kuechly at #10, you're taking him to be the QB of your Defense. I don't understand why you take the #10 overall pick then put him in a position where he is jogging with TEs all day.

FYI: OT Mike Adams tested positive at Combine

That's extreemly poor judgement. Well now we know why he can't bench press, too busy smoking them weeds. -
A.B.T for success in the 2012 NFL Draft
1B4IDie replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think ray ray is just trolling for a response. Does anyone really think Tannehill is on OBD's list of Top 32 prospects? I would fall out of my seat if the Bills took any QB not named Luck or RGII in the first round, and then I would still fall out of my seat and wonder how the hell that happened. -
TBD 3 Round Mock Draft Signup Thread
1B4IDie replied to R. Rich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can take the Ravens and Redskins. Plus as Redskins rep the first thing I will do is trade the farm to St. Louis Rams for the #2 overall pick. Also you can plug in RGIII at 1.02 I'll be ready for Baltimore at 1.29 (What's Funny is I took Aaron Williams for them at about the same slot last year) -
I think we WILL know if Bills coaches like him a lot. Remember Wanstache was the Inside Line Backer coach last year. Meaning he spent tons of time with Shepp. Wanstadt knows if he wants Shepp to be his MLB and QB of his Defense right now. If they draft Kuelchy at #10 it is likely that, the answer is they don't like Shepp a lot. If they don't draft Kuelchy at #10 then they think Shepp will be the MLB and QB of the defense.
-
I didn't say there was no difference. I said "huge" difference. Huge enough to waste a #10 pick on the difference? Kuechly fans are working on the above premise If the above premise is true why wouldn't you have the bigger, stronger, faster, smarter player be the QB of the defense? If the Bills draft Kuechly at #10 there is no doubt he will be drafted to play MLB and be the QB of the defense. It doesn't make any sense to draft a 4-3 LB "that can play all 3 positions" at #10 and not have him play the most important LB position over the 3rd round pick. Now that would be stupid on top of stupid.
-
JPP in Buffalo Bills would be Maybin 2.0. JPP was full of potential but needed to be the right system with that right coaching. JPP over Spiller in hindsight, foresight, rearsight, or frontsight is a mistake for the Buffalo Bills. Kuechly for the Buffalo Bills could fit in very well and be a great fit but really what are you getting over Sheppard? Is there a huge difference? The people that think Yes. Will think Yes no matter what. The people that think No are correct.

I think comparing Bledsoe to McNabb is a good comparison. Some sort of semi-dominant QB play. Same ability to get to Conference Championships and SBs but not win. Same late career bouncing around and failing. I don't think either QB is a HOFer.
