Rosenthal Likes the Bills Draft

I Think you're running a little too far with a Nix Softball answer. The question is "will Gilmore help with the Patriots TEs?" The answer from Nix "sure, size helps" Gilmore will be matched up on Gronk and Hernandez as often as McGee and Florence were matched up; that is say not very often. You're probably going to have a LB bump them at the Line and run with them with a safety over Top. Gilmore isn't likely to be maned one on one with Gronk or Hernandez. Its just a softball question and a softball answer. Gilmore was drafted to compete on the outside with the best WRs in the game. He will have his hands full with Brandon Lloyd when the Bills play the Patriots next year. Gronk and Hernandez are going to be someone else's problem. -
RD 1, Pick #10: DB Stephon Gilmore - South Carolina

Awesome dude, I'm so glad that you're going to argue that the 3 & 7th were good picks. Great evidence and insight because i can see your point that NFL kickers have trouble putting the ball out the back of the end zone with the rule change. Thanks. -
Probably because we got the guy that can jump out of a pool, the guy that can jump over a stick and now wanted the guy that can jump up some boxes on YouTube.

B B+ and I reserve the write to eat my words on TJ Graham if he pans out and upgrade to an A. I Feel like the 3rd, 6th and 7ths were misfires and the rest were great to excellent picks. -
I think we're all concerned with what he is doing with the clipboard? Weaponizing it? Using it as a serving platter? Sitting on it?

Nope just an honest mistake. -
Just pretend that Zebrie Sanders was drafted in the 3rd and TJ graham was drafted on the 5 th. Now the draft doesn't seem so bad.

You didn't read my draft compendium? How could you miss it? I clearly stated don't be suprised if Gilmore is drafted. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/144966-so-serious-2012-draft-compendium/ -
Actually we've covered that about 3 times in this short string so far. We've all read the same scouting reports.
-
Yeah but you had to do some research on that. How about Bills 5th rounders? How about 5th

I said before the draft, drafting a QB under 6'0" is a stupid waste of time and that Kellen Moore is not nearly as talented as Michael Vick, Doug Flutie or Drew Brees and all 32 teams concurred on Kellen Moore yet some people are still confused why an team doesnt want a QB that is not tall enough to ride the rides in the NFL. Amazing. 31/32 teams concurred about the 6'0" aspect with the lone exception of the Seattle Seahawks. The same franchise that traded a pick for Charlie Whitehurst and drafted another pipsqueak in Seneca Wallace. Newsflash. Russell Wilson can't see over NFL lineman nor can Kellen Moore neither will be successfull NFL QBs. Wilson because of his athleticism has a chance to not lose a game as a backup but that's about his ceiling.
-
Yeah I'm not saying he is a sure thing. I'm just saying High Charachter, Pete Carroll recruited at USC, beat Matt Barkley a 2013 1st rounder for a starting QB, why wouldn't you give him a shot as an UDFA?
-
The one thing that keeps coming up about him, is "Leadership" "Character" and persaverence so I think that makes him a Nix guy. Remember the bar is Tyler Thigpen and Levi Brown; I'm thinking Corp, a one time big time college QB recruit, will be given every opportunity to earn a roster spot and a spot on the PS.
-
Brown! Oh no! The Ivy league connection. Harvard to Brown. You may not have heard, and this is probably the first time you've heard this but Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard.
-
He is the first guy on the list. Yeah the Bills being deep at CB is kind of what they're known for, see Greer, Jabari But actually having Beef upfront on both sides of the ball is not what the Bills are known for. This is a significant change for this organization. Just imagine the camp battles of Rinehart vs Heard, I think Heard showed a few flashes in 2011 and Rinehart looked capable but now the roster is loaded. These two will be battling just for a roster spot. Expect some ferocity and fights in August.

I personally don't give Nix a pass for 2010. I think the point that was trying to be made is the actually scounting staff changed from 2010. So the source material for making decisions in 2011 and 2012 is from Buddy's guys. Where the source material for making decisions in 2010 was going back to TD. Those are facts. You can argue Buddy may have taken too long to fix it but there appears to be a difference in draft quality from 2010 to 2011 and 2012. Still early but there appears to be a difference.

When looking at some possible 53 man rosters configurations it is getting clear that the Bills O-Line, yes that is an O is getting really deep on paper. If you believe that Pears and Urbik played well in 2011 (which you should if you're paying attention) and if you believe that Cordy Glen is NFL ready (which you shouldn't because he has to prove that) and if you believe that Zebrie Sanders has some major potential (which you should because he is smart, athletic and has some major potential) then the Bills are going to have some tough cuts after training camp. Asper, Mark OL 6-7 325 26 R Oregon 69 Jasper, Michael G 6-4 375 25 1 Bethel College (Tenn.) 76 Rinehart, Chad G 6-5 321 26 5 Northern Iowa 60 Urbik, Kraig G 6-5 324 26 3 Wisconsin 62 Vermiglio, Jake G 6-5 339 24 1 North Carolina State 68 Williams, Keith G 6-5 330 24 1 Nebraska 67Levitre, AndyLG6-230525 4Oregon State 74 Brown, Colin C 6-7 326 26 2 Missouri 70 Wood, Eric C 6-4 310 26 4 Louisville 79 Pears, Erik RT 6-8 316 29 5 Colorado State 71 Young, Sam RT 6-8 316 24 3 Notre Dame 75 Hairston, Chris LT 6-6 330 23 2 Clemson Sanders, Zebrie OT 6-6 318 22 R Florida St Glenn, Cordy OT 6-5 343 22 R Georgia Not all the guys can make the 53 man roster. Its also possible these guys aren't going to pass through Waivers. Buddy Nix, Whaley and Gailey are clearly Building the team from the Lines out. If you look at the Defensive side, it is a complete crapshoot after Williams, Williams, Dareus, Anderson\Kelsay now that we are moving to a 4-3 But the defensive cuts we make on the D-Line, are going to be gobbled quickly by other teams, there just isn't enough room. I think its a pretty enviable situation to be in. I know its early and I know its just on paper but seriously the is this the first time in over a decade where this team has the NFL Beef it needs to compete and not got pushed around. Talkin' Proud Anderson, Mark DE 6-4 255 28 7 Alabama 57 Batten, Danny DE 6-4 250 24 2 South Dakota State 97 Dotson, Lionel DE 6-4 286 27 3 Arizona 48 Eddins, Robert DE 6-3 246 23 1 Ball State 91 Johnson, Spencer DE 6-3 304 30 9 Auburn 90 Kelsay, Chris DE 6-4 263 32 10 Nebraska 56 Merriman, Shawne DE 6-4 261 27 7 Maryland 94 Moore, Kyle DE 6-6 263 25 4 USC Williams, Mario DE 6-6 292 27 7 North Carolina State 92 Carrington, Alex DT 6-5 301 24 3 Arkansas State 99 Dareus, Marcell DT 6-3 331 22 2 Alabama 98 Edwards, Dwan DT 6-3 302 30 8 Oregon State 73 Gilbert, Jarron DT 6-5 289 25 2 San Jose State 72 Heard, Kellen DT 6-6 339 26 2 Memphis 93 Ross, Jay DT 6-3 319 24 1 East Carolina 96 Troup, Torell DT 6-3 327 23 3 Central Florida 95 Williams, Kyle DT 6-1 303 28 7 LSU

I hope you're on to something. The Great news, is the Bills had 3 CBs on the field for a significant percentage of defensive plays last year, and will likely in the future.
-
Correct but he never actually started and transferred to Richmond because he knew he never would. I don't think you should sell the guy so short. Tyler Thigpen isn't Aaron Rodgers. All Corp has to do is look better than Thigpen, seems like a pretty easy goal.
-
Our starter is a 7th and our slot is an UDFA so I wouldn't count out anyone. Chris Owusu was out there but he reunited with Harbaugh. Not big but fast and smart. I bet he contributes in San Fran if he stays healthy. Watch him turn into a fantasy sleeper. We will see tomorrow.
-
Exactly if they took Sanders or Carder in the 3rd no one would have thought either were a reach. Great draft. I was feeling pretty word after that Graham pick, it looked like a classic Bills reach but Day 3 was strong. Aaron Corp as a camp arm is interesting. He was a 3rd string USC QB and has prototypical size. He'll have a full chance to compete for the 3rd string QB spot. Cousins has great size, his decision making is questionable, and it's hard to teach that. I'm ok that we missed him.

It is a need because we don't have a second outside WR If you don't recall we used D. jones / CJ Spiller / Tommy the gardner / Ruvell Martin / Brad Smith / Joey the Ballboy / Naman Roosevelt / Kamier Aken / Jimmy the waterboy at the second WR Tommy Streeter in the 6th looked like a steal. The second flanker camp battle will be interesting to see if anyone can lock it down and look the role. Streeter landed in a great position for him. Baltimore is the U north. Plus you have an aging Boldin and a young Torrey Smith. Streeter will have a chance to compete and contribute as a rookie.
