The DT is John McCargo and the CB is Ashton Youboty...think about it, they hardly played last year so our record didn't reflect their minimal contributions, but they did get some experience and maturity that should have them both ready to contribute as starters in 2007. Then add in our real draft choices, a few solid FA's and we might just surprise a few people next year. The point I am making is don't forget about McCargo and Youboty, they could turn out to be terrific players and sooner rather than later.

One more draft prediction for Bills...
keithg replied to keithg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
some DT's that would probably be available with our 2nd round pick: John McCargo NC state Gabe Watson Mich Baba. Oshinowo Stanford Claude Wroten LSU Rod Wright Texas Jonathon Lewis Va Tech Orien Harris Miami These guys would be able to step into a rotation with Tripplet and Anderson -
The more I think about it and look at the depth at DT and OL in this draft, I think the Bills will go for a stud like Huff in round 1 and get a DT with their 2nd pick and hit the O line with both picks in round 3...in addition I think they will sign a guy like Tuten Reyes in FA as well.

If the Bills get pick 134 from the Texans...
keithg replied to keithg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I firmly beleive that we will get a solid OL prospect with this pick...people always say that xxxxx won't be available at that pick but someone good always drops...stay tuned -
the first pick in round 5 would be #134...according to GBNReport the following players COULD be available... Greg Eslinger C Minn Brodie Croyle QB Bama Mark Setterstrom OG Minn Jason Avant WR Mich Kevin Boothe OG Cornell Elvis Dumervil DE Louisville My point is we still may get a decent player with that pick...remember Terrence McGee was a 4th rounder and 134 is just one pick away from a 4th...Peace

a couple more FA names to throw around
keithg replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lance is too old...we seem to be going for 20 somethings and LaVarr is probably too expensive -
After the most recent signings of Nall and Fowler, I see the following positions on the team that still need to be upgraded: On offense we need: 1 OG, 1 OT, a backup RB, and a WR (assuming EM bolts) On defense we need: 1 DT, 1 DE, 1 LB for depth, and 1 safety Thats 8 areas of need, so take each position I mentioned and pick who you think the Bills will go for, either a FA or a draft pick.

Young Hungry Guys IS What Marv is Brinigng In
keithg replied to gblakely14's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to agree Marv seems to be spending the money judiciously...I also disagree with another poster who said Marv has ignored the O line so far...HELLO...what do you call signing one of the best run blocking TE's in the NFL...that will help the O line tremendously!!! -
GB signs the Patriots' OG Adrian Klemm
keithg replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i think there are 2 players that have caught Mcnally's eye in the draft for O line replacements and TD probably thinks they will be better and cheaper than whats out there in FA -
I know how you feel about Teague BUT if McNally thinks he can handle the position I feel he would be adequate. He is supposed to be the most athletic guy of our O linemen and if Mouse can improve his technique or footwork from his Denver days he should be a decent starter for the next year or so til we groom Peters or McFarland or a draft choice for the future.
-
I think we are going to go with Trey as our LT and we will sign either DeMulling or Womack as our LG. We will keep the right side with Villy and Big Mike the same for continuity and then in the draft, we should take one of the top centerslike Chris Spencer or David Baas with our first pick and plug him in from day one. That way we have Tucker as a back up C/G, Gandy as a back up G/T, WomackDeMulling who can slide over to T if injuries crop up and then fill in with McFarland, Peters and L Smith. TT/FW or RD/Draft C/Villy/MW would be a good O line...one that would get better as the season went by and one that wouldn't break the bank...any thoughts?
-
Why are soo many here complaining about this pick up??? He is 26 and has started at BOTH OG and LT...he has started 30 games over 4 years...this is the kind of quiet pick up that will turn out to be a quality starter for us...he is probably better than Tucker and could play LT in a pinch...and I am sure he didn't break the bank...WHY COMPLAIN????
-
I agree with your premise of beefing up the O-Line but if we get Shelton I can almost guarantee you we will NOT re-sign JJ. Our upgrades will be at left guard and TE. Shelton will replace JJ and for a lot less $. With the extra $ TD will go after a TE in FA or a new kicker.

i was watching Inside the NFL last night at about 12 and i was pleasantly surprised to see Willis being interviewed by Chris Carter. It talked about Willis' entire journey starting all the way back at draft day and how he was feeling every step of the way. Really a good interview. Im not sure when the next showing of that episode is but i looked at the clock and the interview takes place 25 minutes into the show. Again sorry if this was already posted. Andrew

this would be real trouble for us because the jags last two games are against houston and oakland. Both of which i think they will win. But this game this sunday has me worried, GB has been playing like crap lately the jags have as much heart as anyone. We NEED the jags to lose this game, not only for our playoff hopes (that would elminate them if the bills are to win out), but to take a little bit of the sting out of week one.

you must be kidding...lindell is kicking to the 15-20 yard line by design...he kicks them high and short and our coverage units stop the return at the 25-30 yard line.

Biggest Obstacle to our Playoff Run
keithg replied to bartshan-83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
everyone seems to be looking past the fact that cinny is playing @ New England next week, they're just as hungry as we are right now, but just think how taken back we would be at 6-7 instead of 7-6(after next week). Hopefully, Cinny will realize their season is over by the time they play us with a loss to the hated patsies. andrew -
thats true, but i think the bengals would be playing us with a lot of momentum if they pull out a victory against NE, plus if they lose to NE they wont have anything to play for when we travel down to cinnci Personally, thats the game that worries me the most down the stretch
-
its great that the jags are going to GB tho, you know favre is going to play well down the stretch after that embarassment today..... Hopefully, cinnci's season will end next week when they lose their 7th game to NE, and Jags' season will end at GB the week after that. Every game is crucial andrew

our chances are looking better and better if we win out

god that was close

thats so big for our playoff chances, jags remaining schedule isnt hard at all

This is what I hope happens...obviously we don't know for sure but...I think.... Willis will prove he is special Kelsay will continue to improve the o line will get better as the season goes on our D will end up in Top 5 (maybe just top 10) These are all things that make me look forward to the future...I guess what I am trying to say is...even if we don't make the playoffs, the season was not a total waste.
-
It is really quite simple, to make something out of this season, the Bills MUST win on Sunday. I am going to throw out last weeks misery and poor play and instead remember we are the same team that had won 3 out of 4 and I believe 3 in a row at home. If we play a good, solid game and beat the Rams, I think we can finish out the season with confidence that we WILL win our home games and play competitive on the road. By the end of the year, even if we don't make the playoffs, we will head into next year having accomplished the following: 1. Willis is the man...end of discussion 2. We have a D that is well coached and continually in Top 5 in NFL 3. Kelsay is as good as TD thought he would be 4. O line is getting better and better coached 5. we have a pretty good FB in Shelton 6. We realize JP is our starter next year...no more Drew 7. Lee Evans is a player, and so is Euhus I, for one, am very disappointed we will probably not go to the playoffs again, but I am encouraged that we will make significant strides this year and put us in a realistic position to make the playoffs in 2005.
