jeezuz h. I'll push that button. *push* -
it took you this long to realize that donahoe got the better end of the price trade?

it's surprising, considering everyone thinks the pats can do no wrong in their scouting and drafting. they let go of s dexter reid and rb cedric cobbs, and unless they're badly injured i'd be shocked if they didn't get picked up. I thought cobbs had a 3rd round grade during the draft, didn't he? maybe hollywood don can enlighten us about the suck factor in these guys, and maybe Belicick/Pioli's newfound draft fallibility?

listen to JP's postgame comments at bb.com Refreshing. He knows he hesitated and didn't pull the trigger, and admitted that the blocking was there, the routes were there, and he didn't pull the trigger. Granted, it's a concern that he's capable of seeing open receivers and not pulling the trigger, but AT LEAST he is aware of his own play and willing to admit that he hesitated. For 3 years we saw Drew hesitating, losing games due to the failure of the offense, and then saying things like 'we just didn't get it done', instead of "I just didn't get it done". JP had a BAAAD game. But the first step in improving is awareness of the problem(s). At least he has that part down.

1. I'm not using THIS game to define his progress. I'm using the scrimmage, the packers game, the colts game, and this game. He's not as far along as I expected based on the commentary from the coaching staff. I don't believe they're 'keeping his real talent under wraps' or any such BS. They wanted to give him a sense of rhythm and either they or he but most likely both, failed. Again. 2. He did. But I'm not saying they're calling it like they would in a regular season game. It's not about that. It's about this: They wanted to succeed. They didn't. On any level other than defense. For the third straight game, our O looks no better than a Chad Hutchinson-led offense. Hey, I think the kid can be great. But I think he's stubborn and that characteristic could get in the way of his ability to maximize his talent. I trust that the coaches see this.

It was just a preseason game. I know that. However, the goal of these games, particularly for the '05 Bills, is to let JP get in a rhythm and give him some confidence. I didn't like the conservative playcalling, but the execution was worse. *This was the ugliest offensive football game I've seen in YEARS* JP: I thought he was supposed to be accurate on the run. He looked better LAST preseason. I just don't see the progress I expected to see. He seems to give up too easily on plays, a la Flutie, and has revealed his favorite tendency already: roll right and hope to get a 20 yard out. I hope they're trying to show their real opponents something and will come out with somthing ELSE. Otherwise, we're in for some ruff days offensively. He overreacts to pressure and makes TERRIBLE decisions when under pressure from multiple angles. He tries to keep the play alive to the point of absurdity. I believe Wyche is doing his job well, but JP has disappointed thus far. Yes, it's only preseason. BUt if you think they're not trying to succeed, you're wrong. THey're trying and failing. JP does not look good to these eyes. He does not look poised. But it's only preseason, and I"m not going to get negative until we see Game 1. Wire: Good athelete, lousy football player. His one solo tackle was the first play I've seen him make in a long time. He's usuallly half a second late to every play. He deserves the knickname "pile on". Cut him. Lindell: As much as the coaches have given him good press for his 'great offseason', I still don't trust him as far as I can kick him, which isn't very far. I don't see ANY receivers making any plays, but then again, I don't see Losman making many throws. Kyle Orton outplayed ever other QB on the field. I don't care that it came against our 2nd stringers. He looked in control, poised, and confident. He got the job done. None of our QBs got the job done, least of all JP. Do I sound negative? Very well then I sound negative. They should be farther along by now. It was sloppy, horrid, and difficult to watch. It made the Greggg Williams years look like the Glory Days. I'm glad we lost this game because I think the team needed a wake up call. They're not as good as they think they are, yet they CAN be. Coaches: The Bears run blitzed all night and they didn't call ONE SINGLE play to throw it over their heads. I'm concerned about one thing: Mularkey doesn't seem to want to try to throw long. He seems to think that we can win by running at 2 yards per clip and trying to convert 3rd and fives with a rollout. It's only preseason, yes. But I'm not impressed. I hope to see something ELSE next Friday.

yes. evans has a grace that moulds doesn't have. His rookie production is an indicator of things to come. and as much as i like eric, when was the last time you saw him dive to make a tough catch? exactly. I don't think he fights for it enough, and he needs to have a big year to justify his salary next year imo. next year lee will be the undisputed #1 WR, and it might happen earlier.

Christopher Walken for President
nodnarb replied to Peace Frog's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
i like christopher walken as an actor, even though he always plays christopher walken, and i agree with all three of this policy stances. the problem is he only has three policy stances. He'll need about three hundred and thirty-three. and his website needs A LOTTA work. -
Random observations from the game.
nodnarb replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My observations from the game: 1. It's clear that coy wire has finally hit his own personal ceiling. He's a great athlete but a mediocre football player. I won't be surprised if he's cut but it would be nice if TD could get a low pick for him in a trade to the skins, where Greggg might want him for depth. I'd rather see Jim Leonard make the team because he's a good football player and we don't know where his ceiling is. 2. Gandy is looking just fine at LT. Jason Peters has looked promising against the scrubs. 3. I don't believe JReed would make this team if Roscoe hadn't been injured. He's invisible, and he seems to always be in on negative plays or broken plays. It'd be nice if TD could get a low round pick for him in a trade to his old coach Saban. If they have an injury at WR, I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen. 4. Our secondary is impressing me. Even the new guys look like they get it. Jabari Greer was a complete steal as a UFA. 5. I don't like what I see from R. Lee. He looks clueless in blitz pickup and doesn't seem to run with much purpose and energy. Yet I'd hate to think that Joe Burns is still a running back for this team, being as slow and unproductive as he is. 6. JP looks like he's in the process of getting comfortable. I'm not concerned. -
If this "sprain" thing is true, let's start a Conga Line thread.

That would be the stupid, knee-jerk reaction. It has nothing to do with GBush. Oil prices are higher because WORLD demand has continued to reach new highs this year. We'd have expensive gas right now no matter WHO THE FUG was in the white house. Do you really think the president can control oil prices?

I didn't read the thread, i only read the first post.

This of course is absolute bunk, and it doesn't even deserve to have a thread. It's just the meaningless deliberate rumor mongering of Some Guy. This would never happen, so if anyone fears that there's an ounce of truth to this: rest easy.
