Still think you're the best Nate? Joke. They're making us look like fools. And I think we just might be. I'm tired of making excuses for the people at the helm of this team. Look at our road record under Tom Donahoe. It'll make you shudder.

by the way, why the fug did we spike the ball on 1st down with one time out and 1:30 on the clock and a D that can't stop them for schitt? oh, that lovely game management.
-
this game is a joke. I can't believe that our offense is last, or 2nd to last in the league. It's a joke. Defense? THey play well at home when the other team has a banged up line. Other than that? It's a joke. I'm SOOOO sick of this team.

This game would look a lot different right now if Josh Fuggin Reed could catch the ball. those two drops were killers. That should have been a great Losman TD. But our D strategy still stinks. I hate making Carl Fuggin Mauck look good.

Dom Capers or Jim Haslett Take your pick

If Grey leaves, I wouldn't be surprised to see our LB coach, Don Blackmon, take over. The guys really like him. -
jeezuz...you still haven't realized that he's playing a ROLE in the defense, and his role in some games is not to rush the passer? Kelsay is playing solid football. So is Denney. The fact that Kelsay is not piling on the sacks is irrelevant. Does Willie McGuinnest get sacks consistently? No, only when the game plan calls for him to play that role. Same for every good defense. If you're a statwatcher, you won't see much. Watch the tape of Kelsay and you'll see he's doing his job well. Each guy plays a role, and it's about the element of surprise. There will be days when Schobel doesn't get a pass rush because the called plays are designed to make him hold the point or drop back into coverage and let a LB blitz. Would he have had a "bad game" if he didn't get any sacks, but FLetcher got 2? No, he'd have done his job to allow Fletcher those opportunities.

Why isn't Roscoe Parrish being used?

Cuz he's on todd's fantasy team, and todd has bad luck in fantasy football. -
I'd like to tally the number of mistakes that Randy Cross makes and send them to his employer, begging the question: HOW CAN YOU PAY THIS IMBECILE? (Pay ME!)

But I'll take it. This game was won thanks to defense (finally) and special teams. Our D showed up in a big way. Our secondary is REALLY good. A lotta nice coverage sacks and good breakups by clements and mcgee. But then again, the Chiefs have schitty receivers. There isn't another special teams coach that I'd rather have. Lindell is back to his typical form. His performace thus far had been atypical. You know it's true. But the most important thing: This was one of the WORST CALLED OFFENSIVE GAMES I've seen since...since maybe the Raiders game. Or Saints. Mularkey's strange fascination with keeping McGahee off the field on critical downs, and using embarrassing gadgetry on 4th and inches instead of pounding one of the toughest SOBs in the game, is bewildering. We tried to give this game away about six times, and our defense bailed us out. Best defensive game since Week 1. I'm still not impressed, and I still don't like our chances. If we can beat the chargers coming off their bye in their house, then I'll be forced to reconsider. But on offense I don't think we have the blocking, consistency of execution, playcalling, and adjustment wisdom to beat a banged up patriots team to the division in a year where it was right there for the taking. Hoping for the best, but not expecting much. Why? Because the pattern has been set and I don't like what it tells me. Mularkey and Clements think too much. They overthink every situation. Pound McGahee like you did versus the Pats (our best called offensive game to date this year, despite the loss). Give up the stupid plays and call a football game. Why didn't we take a knee with 2:00 and they couldn't stop the clock? Either stupidity, or a lack of awareness of the situation. I think it's the latter. Decent job by JP. That second Evans TD was placed perfectly. Hopefully he'll get on track. I still believe in the kid. Why? Cuz Sam Wyche does, and he knows a lot more about football than any of us. Probably all of us combined. And that's enough for me.

(LAMP) - I saw Mike Mularkey tonight

Hey wow. Our coach poops. -
the thing that annoys me the most about randy cross, besides the undeniable fact that he's a fuggin idiot, is his accent. "He tried to tackle eeem, but he couldn't get eeeem down" I have never heard him make a good point in a football game, or a wise observation. isn't that their job? he must have naked pictures of somebody upstairs in the cbs offices.

Mike Gandy considered for Pro Bowl??
nodnarb replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This post comes off like the opinion of a guy who hasn't watched the games, or who doesn't know what he's looking at when he watches the games. If you had watched the games, you might see that Gandy has been solid, consistent, and while not dominant, he has been impressive on the whole. Benny Anderson has been a different story. I don't even think he's looked that good in run blocking. He has not panned out. Gandy has. I hope Gandy stays with us long term, cuz you won't find many smart, athletic tackles who'll work for Gandy's salary. -

I can't believe I am going to admit this

You're just now coming to realize that tom brady is the best quarterback of our time? you're just beginning to realize that his accomplishments are more impressive than that of joe montana, and about 99% of all quarterbacks who have ever played the game? you're just starting to realize that he's the #1 clutch QB of ALL TIME, and that he's a guy that deserves as much respect as anyone playing today? Have you been in a cave? It shouldn't hurt to admit it, cuz it's true. Take heart that at least he can be injured. He's mortal. One hard sack and the Patriots lose the guy who makes the whole offense work. Take out Brady and the Pats are a completely different team. -
who is gonna actually pay Owens next season?

skins or broncos -
This is 100% hogwash. You're either not watching the games or you don't know what to look for. Sam was benched for a LACK of intensity and constantly going offsides and not playing his role in the defense. Kelsay and schobel both play team and scheme-oriented football and were both solid draft picks who have performed and continue to perform admirably in their roles. THe same is true for Ryan Denney. He's actually one of our more consistent defensive players. He doesn't make many mistakes. If you can find some on tape, you let me know. Pat Williams was not worth the money that the Vikings paid him. Move on. The loss is not Pat, it's the injury to Ron Edwards. He played lights out in the Texans game and we lost him. Anderson has had good plays and bad. Hopefullly he'll improve. But this reaction and similar reactions that I've read seem to be based on guesswork. Gee, if we can't stop the run, that must mean it's THIS guy's fault or THAT guy's fault. You don't know because you don't know what their assignments are from play to play. The coaches know. And what did they do? They benched Sam. Remember the same thing happened last year. Sam Adams simply does not on his own volition play with consistent discipline and intensity week to week. He shows up whenever he's motivated. Imagine how good he'd be if he had hte work ethic of Aaron Schobel or Chris Kelsay. There's a cliche about assumptions that applies to this post.

I agree that the way they framed this game was disgusting and over the top. What a circle jerk around good ol' Tedy. I knew a Ref would give the Pats a critical call at a game-impacting point in the game. That PI call was BS. But at least the Bills had a good plan and executed it. Whenever the Bills play the Pats close, it always comes down to a protection breakdown. It's always a sack/QB fumble that changes the game in their favor.
-
First, I have to say that this was the best performance in a loss that I've seen the Bills play in a long time. They had a good game plan and executed it well, keeping Brady off the field and using Willis to control the game and break their will. I believe we did that effectively for about 3 quarters. Mixed in with the overall smart playcalling were about 4 or 5 unfathomably stupid "cute" calls. The worst, IMO, was that 3rd and 2 call at their 40. POUND WILLIS. But they come out in shotgun with Shaud Williams. Even when we were up two scores, I knew it was just a matter of time before they made a key play that would change the game. Up till that point, Mike Gandy had played a helluva game. But Colvin got through and the game changed on a dime. That play broke the Bills. And you had to see it coming. The announcers were unforgivably horrid. Like I predicted, McGuire said "You talk about..." more times than I could count. Why they pay him is beyond me. But everyone on the Patriots roster has empty balls, cuz those announcers fellated them all repeatedly throughout the game. It was disgusting to listen to. Why Mularkey challenged that first pass is beyond me. There isn't a soul on the planet other than him and maybe a few other Bills coaches who saw that for what it was - a clear and easy catch. The second challenge should have been overturned. But the refs gave the Pats a gift with that curiously timed and marginal at best offensive pass interference call on Moulds. I through my cup across the room when I saw it. The Bills came into as tough a situation as you'll find in the NFL and outplayed them up to that point, and that's the reward they got. Thanks for playing, Bills. When I first noticed that we were starting an undrafted free agent tight end at right tackle, I figured the Pats would have about 13 sacks today. The kid impressed me. Moulds has a lotta game. Lee Evans was a royal goat in this game. That kid needs to pick up his game and watch his blocking technique. Reed dropping that key 3rd and 2 I mentioned earlier gives him a couple horns and cloved hooves, too. I know that we have tight ends, but I'm not sure where they are. Why Parrish let that ball bounce is beyond me. In that situation, you don't put your last shot at scoring in the hands of physics. You just don't. Catch it, run. Boy, what an opportunity lost. But I went into the game expecting a world of hurt and ugly, so I'm not feeling as badly as I did after the Saints or Raiders games. If the team that played today had played any of our other games, this would have been our first loss. Once again, the Pats do what the Pats always seem to do: They make ONE play at the right moment to flip the game and win. We did NOT get outcoached. This was relieving for me. I have new confidence in these coaches, despite the fact that we lost. If Gandy maintains that block, it's probably a different game. We did NOT get outmuscled. We did NOT get outplayed at any point. We just lost the game. Disappointed, but not pissed. Oh, and Kelly? Uh, that was a weak decision to throw to Moulds for a 3 yard gain when you need 7 or lose. W T F?

Frez, lower those expectations. It takes the edge off the games. The Bills might look good early, as usual this year, but I'll bet they'll be beaten by the 3rd quarter's end. Bruschi back will be more of an emotional lift for them then when we opened with milloy 2 years ago and stole a game. If the Raiders can crush us with nobody in their secondary, the Pats are going to make the Bills look like chumps, like they have ever since that game. Pats 30 Bills 16 Wish it weren't so

Dante, write a letter to One Bills Drive, copying Tom Donahoe and Ralph Wilson. I'm sure they read their mail.

I'm really laughing about this. This concept is absolutely fuggin hilarious. And if the Bills continue to slide out of the playoff hunt, which I expect them to, AND we stay undefeated in the coin toss, then these shirts MUST BE MADE.

The Sports Guy's take on the Bills-Pats
nodnarb replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please tell me McGuire isn't calling this game. If he is, I say we have ourselves a contest. Guess the # of times McGuire leads a comment with "You talk about..." or "You want to talk about..." My guess: 9, one for each point in the spread. Winner gets a garbage plate -
...wha?... that was one of the few interesting articles about this team, hell - about football, that I've read in a long time. if it's the booger that bothers you, that's sam wyche. Maybe you should READ it again. I think it reinforces what has been clear to these eyes: Losman is far too amped to play NFL football. He won't be good until he truly learns how to play with serenity. Eli is starting to play well because he has that serenity. Peyton doesn't even have that like Eli does - but Peyton's such a technician he gets away with happy feet and spasmic movements. JP isn't a technician and he doesn't have Peyton's understanding of the game and his own offense. I still hope JP can get there, and I'm glad he's with Wyche to lead the way, but right now I'm as skeptical of the team that Donahoe has built and that Mularkey is coaching than I've ever been. They haven't proven anything. I mean, NOTHING, in 5 years. You build a football team starting with great blockers, and 5 years later our line is still inconsistent at best, even with an accomplished coach. TD has done a nice job drafting/acquiring DBs and WRs and LBs but linemen? Not so good...and we're still paying for it. Lest I ramble further, enough...

Like I said about the Greg Williams "D"
nodnarb replied to Left Overture's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
we hardly ever run the 46. I think it has more to do with personnel assessment failures and bad defensive playcalling. We blitz when we shouldn't and don't when we should. I think the Bills try to play the "They must be thinking X here cuz that's what most smart defenses would do, but we're going to do Y and surprise them" game. It's a losing formula. Jerry Gray is watching his head coach dreams slip away. This is some baaaaad stuff. -
Well that's the easy, placard-driven conclusion about that issue. If you're truth hunting, our intelligence agencies gave him bad intel, and they gave that same bad intel to many others, including colin powell, who took it to the UN, and john kerry, who reacted to with even greater alarm than bush at the time. There was no "lie". But don't get me wrong - I think Bush is a pud. He has failed to communicate effectively for so long it's hard to believe that his 'people' haven't done something about it.
