  1. That's actually a helluva lineup. That would make me feel better. Bates can fuggin coach a defense...no doubt. But we'll do worse.
  2. Ralph revealed, in his addled, cough and pause-laden address to the media, that he's too old to be "more involved" in an NFL franchise. His press conference probably scared off every smart coach available out there. This is a now, officially, a disaster. Careful what you wish for re: Mularkey. Now we're going to get a guy like Cottrell who can't strategize his way out of a soup can, or Haslett, whose teams are always heartless and distracted. Not looking good, folks. You KNOW Marv is gonna go with "comfort" guys...guys he's worked with before. Will the BIlls ever have a coach/staff that can match wits with Belichick? Uh, not likely. Ergo, we're perennial also-rans.
  3. Hell no. Can you Cottrell fans stop pretending that he's head coach material? What, you WANT to see perpetual 2-14 seasons?
  4. If this happens, PLEASE MARV, hir Kirk Ferentz PLEEEEEEASE
  5. because I think Carr is just another Tedford system QB who doesn't translate well to the pro game. I also don't believe for a second that the houston OLine is as bad as everyone thinks. I think Carr is like Bledsoe in that he holds and holds and holds the ball and doesn't sense pressure on the margins. If the trade is made to the fins, then that would be their future, and I think that gives us a really good shot at the fins for years to come. that's why. Granted, a fin fan could say the same thing about losman, but he has only started 7 or 8 games or whatever...we don't know enough about him yet. We've seen Carr for 4 years.
  6. Please let this be true. PLEEEASE god let Miami have David Carr and give up their second rounder...PLEEEEEASE GOD.....
  7. Now that's more like it. Clarke! Clarke! Clarke! some of the hairbrained ideas coming out of the woodwork... eesh... But Clarke Kent I can embrace.
  8. Some of the recent theories, wishes, and desires of the Bills fan community are just plain insane. Many of these ideas make Tom Donahoe look fuggin great in comparison. Bring him back! Bring him back! Thank god fans have no control over these things.
  9. i'd hate to see marv (did i just say marv and not td?) let him walk without compensation via the franchise tag. he'd HAVE to know that he'll be in demand. Even if you get only a 3rd, that's a big deal when you're trying to rebuild again from the last rebuilding effort, which was required because of the first rebuilding effort. I'd prefer to see us keep clements, but if the negotiation breaks down, you'd think we'd HAVE to tag him. It's a cheap year for tagging DBs, too. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football...8p-323974c.html
  10. Glad you're not on staff, dude. When you're lucky enough to find a guy who can play better than your other career linemen after only a few weeks at the position, you let him grow in that position. tis the season of armchair coaches i guess
  11. THere's a whole thread of idiots from the other day, suggesting we should draft that guy. Marcus Vick will be NOTHING in the NFL. He's destined for self destruction in one form or another. As if Levy would bring that kid in...can the board move on now?
  12. Cottrell: Give me a break. If we were to bring him back, then I'd know that mularkey has no control over this thing and that we'll have the #1 pick in the 2007 draft. Minnesota defensive players were bitching midseason about how lame and predictable and vanilla their defense was. even winfield went on record saying that the lack of an intelligent scheme and game plans was laughable. and you guys want to rip apart the 43 that we spent 5 years building to hire a mediocre coach and start over with a 34? Do you even realize we don't have the right personnel for that? Do you realize that no team has ever won a playoff game in their first year in a new defense? Think again when you want to keep reaching back into the past.
  13. no wonder he was a substitute. bad judgment.
  14. Did you hear nothing Marv said?
  15. those who refer to themselves in the third person tend to be a combination of two things: self-centered, and yet insecure about their intelligence. I have doubted Jerry Gray's smarts as soon as Greggo left. GWilliams is an excellent DC. I still think that JG did it in 03 thanks to LeBeau and he did it last year thanks in large part to a lack of injuries and 4 games against hapless teams that the defense used to stroke their statistics. We weren't really as good as #2 overall last year, but it helps when you get the browns without a coach or quarterback, and the 9ers with the same situation. Those two games alone could have propelled a team from the middle of the pack to the top five, statistically. What matters most is, what does your defense do when it matters most, not what does your team do when they're playing lesser teams. Again, unless the coaches we have can match wits with Belichick, what are we doing? This team needs to be built specifically to that purpose. Matching wits with the master in our division. Levy can help. Wyche can help. I'm not so sure about Jerry Gray.
  16. "Something tells me Jacksonville's D is gonna have a big day today." not a chance
  17. Good. He's a useless punk. Someone like Denny Green will take him in the 3rd or 4th round and think that he can turn him into a good guy. But he'll screw it up, guaranteed.
  18. No fuggin way. Players love him but he's a lousy strategist...he even had Winfield saying so by midseason. It won't happen. It better not happen. Ted will follow Wade somewhere. You can't just go from a 43/46 to a 34 and expect to improve. You need all new personnel, and it generally takes 3 years. That's not the kind of plan that Marv is gonna have.
  19. There's no doubt that willis was disappointing on a couple levels, but he never had any of the big holes that the more productive backs had, either. It's a tough call, but if we could get a 1st and a 3rd for Willis, I think you have to make that trade. I question his heart. He just says some stupid and selfish things sometimes.
  20. Have to admit, I'm bummed to hear that about Krumrie, Blackmon, and Szabo. The players loved Krumrie and you have to like his style. The LBs liked Blackmon too...cool cat who knows the game. And Szabo was our only Belichick disciple - and we did have a pretty good secondary even though they gave up big plays at the worst times. There's a lot to not like about all of this...and there's a bit to like. This has to be the most confusing time there's ever been in Billsfandom. At least in mine.
  21. It'll be nice to have someone who can speak, I'll say that much.
  22. I love Marv, so don't get me wrong, but I have a figure that there HAS to be a lot of snickering going on around the NFL. An 81 year old GM and a 90 year old owner who wants to take a MORE active role. Like I said yesterday, this is obviously a temporary solution, but still. Donahoe's coaching selections have set this franchise back a decade. Hopefully Mularkey can rebound next year, but are you going to bet on it? I sure as hell won't. If you can't play chess with Belichick, why even bother?
  23. The kid impressed the hell out of me tonight. Nothing is more impressive than calm in the clutch, and getting it done when you absolutely have to.
  24. I'll betcha our next Dcoordinator is Don Blackmon.
  25. I hope this doesn't mean that kirk ferentz is going to ny to compete with his buddies nick and bill. that would...you know...suck.
