well, it could have something to do with the undeniable fact that this draft is weak at WR and strong, proven WRs are going to be in major demand. Maybe they work out a sign and trade. Maybe they keep Eric as #2. Who would take his place? Aiken? What makes anyone think that the Bills would be able to out-bid other teams to retain some of the other FA WRs out there? Keeping moulds might just be a strategically wise move. at least for now.

losing milloy is not a big deal. how many big plays did he make in buffalo? I mean AFTER his first game in buffalo when he knew the patriots' plan? 3, I think. In 3 seasons. But campbell is a surprise. well liked from all that I could tell, and tough as nails. Seemed to be quite a Marv guy. DIdn't block real well but wasn't a liability either. must be a cap thing.

can't say i'm happy about this. can't say i'm happy that we literally have ZERO run pluggers on the roster. can't say that I like losing one of the fastest, nastiest guys in the nfl. it's not like his cap # was huge. If this was a move to keep moulds...i dunno... so far, so what the fug

what "character" guys is marv yapping about?
nodnarb replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
in my view, marv isn't talking about marcus vicks versus drew bledsoes. he's not talking criminals versus saints. he's talking about guys who are in the nfl for the right reasons. mike williams was in the nfl for the wrong reasons. the dude doesn't love the game and it's evident in the way he plays and the way he practices. -
Vernon Davis just ran high 4.3/low 4.4
nodnarb replied to N.Y. Orangeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yea it's good news - it puts another player in the top 10. those numbers are incredible for a guy his size. Imagine if Gates could run a sub 4.4. How high would he go in the draft? Davis' long jump and high jump scores blew away the field as well. If he fell to us, and Brick was gone, and AJ Hawk was gone, how do you let him pass? We could finally shed the mediocre TEs on the roster and come into 2006 with campbell, davis, and everett. i don't like the strategy of drafting to fill your holes. that's how you reach for players like Josh Reed the year you trade Peerless...when impact players like lecharles bentley and clinton portis were available. (How the fug did they screw up that pick?) -
What the hell happened to this board...
-
Don't think Greenway's a particularly good tackler, and he'd probably be a reach at 8. If there's one LB who justifies a top 10 pick, it's Hawk. I'd be a tad disappointed with this - about half the teams think he's the 4th best LB in the draft.

i don't know why i thought of this now, but it just occurred to me that harry morgan is still alive. He was an old man in 1980, for fug's sake. You know, col. Potter from MASH...he's still kicking at 90+ something...but he LOOKED like a frail old man 25 yrs ago. pretty amazing genes.

WIVB: Eric Moulds' agent says NO Pay Cut!
nodnarb replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't get that from the video. As agent speak goes, that was as tame and moderate as you'll ever hear. I wouldn't start drawing any conclusions based on this. moulds might know that he can get 800K per year more in Philly or wherever, but he wouldn't have chosen to sign here five years ago if it wasn't worth it to him to be a Bill. I think he'll be extended at 4 per over 3. -
I wouldn't be bothered by milloy getting cut. How many big plays has he made in Buffalo? I mean BIG plays...? You can count them on ONE HAND. In 3 seasons. Belichick knew that his best days were behind him. He has lost a step and then some.

Marcus Vick apologetic.....
nodnarb replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
who the fug cares? Vick won't even be as good as his brother, who's not good enough. Let's hope Miami drafts him. That would be great. Best situation I can think of. -
have you been living in a cave? trapped under something heavy? Jauron is a 43 guy. He's already made it clear that we're going to be a Tampa-2 defense. It takes more than a few tweaks to move to a 34 defense, and the Bills want to win now. Jeez. And this is the EASY stuff.

It's Official....Bills Release OT Mike Williams!
nodnarb replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Holy crap. Good god, what a busted pick. I know he graded high coming out, but the one thing that the Bills failed to take into consideration is HEART and DESIRE. Big Mike has little of either. And he NEVER had great feet...so WTF... God, look at the long list of who was available...I know I know, you can't play the hindsight game...but when you cut a #4 overall pick only 4 years after his selection, it sets you back. What a fuggin marshmallow. He'll get snatched up quickly, though. I'm surprised we didn't try to do a sign and trade. The kid has value. -
you probably won't get any informed responses to this question, because the nfl uses some obscure formula to determine who gets what and why. Last year, donahoe was very public in his criticism for the league's doling out of two third round picks to Denver, and rightly so. What we lost versus what they lost was similar, and yet they received the motherlode and the bills got a rock. This year, with the loss of Pat Williams, we should be picketing Tag's office if we don't get AT LEAST one 3rd round compensatory pick.
-
Just give me a winning record, and a minimum 60% completion rate. It would be nice to see a guy having won at least one game largely on his own. THEN I'm "sold" on a quarterback. Until then, it doesn't matter if you have a first round pick tough kid from Venice Ca or a journeyman backup. You still HAVE QUESTIONS at that position, and that's all Carucci is saying there. I agree 100%, cuz it's true. I'd also agree that it's not our #1 priority. But there WiLL be a new third QB next year and I wouldn't be surprised to see the new admin pick a prospect on the second day of the draft. Mularkey made a big mistake handing the team over to Losman. He subsequently lost the team, then quit on the team. It'll be fun rooting against him.
-
what's wrong with that? why are you so pissed at carucci for saying that? I'm not sold on JP either. Anyone that IS sold on JP is looking at the situation with rose-colored glasses. The kid hasn't proven *anything*, except that he's willing to work. You'd have no business being 'sold' on him. People aren't sold yet on Philip Rivers, or Smith in Frisco or the young kid in Green Bay. JP has bad numbers and a losing record and frustrated a lot of his teammates. So how can anybody be 'sold' on him? Just not enough data.
-
Well, it's a good thing you're not the Bills' GM. Jeez what a joke - he had a good bowl game. Look through history and count how many QBs had great bowl games playing in a gimmicky, option offense, only to become nothing in the NFL. Why not bring Ryan Leaf back? Young is an impressive athelete and a good kid but half the teams in the NFL regard him as a project that would take 3 years to develop, like McNair (at best, because McNair had much better mechanics coming out of college AND had done more production-wise.)
-
well isn't this cute. sure, we all love talley. but you have to be a good teacher. you have to actually WANT to coach. What makes you think talley is a good teacher and actually WANTS to do it? oh, cuz of the connection to Marv and the fact that you're a fan. This is what coaches mean when they say that if they listened to fans, it would all fall apart like a house of cards.

"Offensive Quality Control Coach"
nodnarb replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
are you guys kidding? token title? every team has a quality control coach, usually on both sides of the ball. they run stats, watch film and look for tendencies, compile information for the coach, and basically do the legwork that the coordinators don't have time for. many coaches start out as a quality control coach. mularkey did for wyche in tampa. -
Heard on WGR that Van Pelt has been hired as OQC coach and turk schonert is the QB coach. Interesting. I Like AVP. He understands the game, and I'm glad he got the hire. I think this job is right up his alley.
-
al davis deserves this. he put all his eggs in the whisenhunt basket but that guy's too smart for that old dirty bastard. Raiderville's shoulders just sank. shell is going to have a helluva time getting qualified assistants. Don't be surprised to see the Raiders drafting first in 2007.

Marv Levy as GM calling shots on draft day
nodnarb replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't believe a majority of people answered "YES" to this. There's more to scouting players than getting good character guys. Let the scouts and Modrak call the shots, and let Marv ask his Marvelous questions, which will help reach consensus. But to give Levy veto power and final say is a major mistake. By his own admission he's not a big college personnel guy. And 67% of us don't care? Pffft. -
actually ed is one of the best, most consistent judges. do you see any controversies around games he has officiated?

Condi Rice loves the NFL and she has made it very plain that her lifelong goal was not to be president but to be the commissioner of the league. She talks openly about it because it has become a source of whimsy. She's remarkably bright and talented and I wouldn't doubt that she's capable of doing a better job than Tagliabue.
