Check out today's episode of ESPN's draft special. Tom Donahoe makes an appearance, commenting on several prospects not likely to be drafted, or drafted as prospects. The strange part is that they said, and this is not verbatim but accurate nearly to the word, "Tom Donahoe oversaw the 2002 draft for the Steelers"...and they showed a quick video of him at the Steelers draft room, (I assume before 2001) and then leaned on his opinion of Antwaan Randle El. He talked and talked about him, as if he had drafted him and as if he was responsible finding that gem. When the reality is, of course, that Donahoe was outed from Pitt in 2000 and traded up to draft Denney, bypassing Randle El altogether. How could ESPN be THAT wrong? How could they be THAT irresponsible in their writing and production? I would hope that, upon seeing the piece assembled, Donahoe called them and told them of their mistakes...

That was one of the best, most dominating performances I've ever witnessed in playoff hockey. Tell ya...if the Sabres play their best through this tournament, they have a REAL shot at the cup. How can you not be proud of these guys...

Ravens want Ngata and don't think he'll get past cleveland, so they swap 1st round picks with us to take him. They give us their second round pick, #44, and their fifth round pick, #146, and we give them our second third round pick, #73. This gives the Bills a net gain of 18 points per the standard value chart. Leaves the Bills with picks 13, 42, 44, 70, 105, 134, 143, 146, 178, 216, and 248. 1. DT Bunkley 2a. G Davin Joseph 2b. DT John McCargo 3. RB Maurice Drew 4. OT Joe Toledo Trade 5b and 5c to get back into the 4th to take S Greg Blue 5a. LB Spencer Havner 6.G Jason Spitz 7a. QB Ingle Martin 7b. DE/LB Ryan LeCasse

The Bills WONT Draft Bunkley because he doesn't
nodnarb replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
bunkley is dumb as a box of rocks? prove it. Tell me what information has formed that opinion in you. And as far as character goes, he stole a CD or something like that. That's not exactly a major concern in the larger scheme of character issues in the NFL. If you can read between the lines of Marv's comments about character when he was hired, it wasn't necessarily "we want guys with no police records." That's just one aspect of how character plays into personnel evaluation. Then there's passion for the game, desire to be the best, and work ethic. Mike Williams had no police record, no passion for the game, no desire to be the best, and no work ethic. I'll take a Bunkley over a Mike Williams any day. Betcha we take him. -
stuckincincy: Tim's a good, sharp, and accomplished guy. I'd think that Buffalonians would be proud to call him one of their own. Tis all
-
talk about overstatements...let me guess. Tim just tooo conservative for ya...? X 10
-
whatever ethically compromised? now THAT's pompous.

If CBS News had any brains, they'd have made Tim the anchor to replace Rather. Instead, CBS news continues to be the worst network news source in the solar system, and that includes WTNZ out of Neptune, which is saying something.

Anybody know what Mort's email address is? -

If Mort said that, then my opinion of him has diminished. That's simply not a professional thing to say, and it smacks of water cooler talk with his buddy Tom Donahoe. The fact of the matter is, Donahoe didn't get the job done. He failed the Buffalo Bills and left with an abysmal record. It's also true that Marv doesn't have any GM experience and I too was, and still am, skeptical of Ralph's choice. But the season hasn't even started yet and Mort is making a snide judgment on Marv's skill as a GM? That's not what a high-character sports analyst is supposed to say. It's what a buddy of Donahoe is wont to say. And WHO IS a hall of fame GM, Mort? Your buddy there? What a revealing comment. -
Thanks, Scott. I love hearing stories about Saban. I respect him as a coach but I think he brings serious trainwreck potential to the fins. He's one of those unique personalities that's part all-focus, part !@#$, and part self-absorbed weirdo. It's something I'd love to see. As mediocre a coach as I believe Mularkey was/is, he's a great guy. A guy I'd be happy to know. Saban comes off as a guy I'd love to throw eggs at. A guy I'd love to see lose games and blow up and fire people in an explosion of misdirected blame. The guy loves himself, and it's evident in every conversation I've ever seen.

I don't get this deal. I hope Parrish beats him out. Peerless is soft, and always has been.

does signing of Price help Losman?
nodnarb replied to buffalobillsALTGA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just my opinion, but I'm not convinced that signing price helps anyone but price. I haven't been as unhappy with a FA signing since...wait...ever. I think peerless is a mediocre football player, at best. He's also a whiner, he's not tough at all, he catches the ball with his body, he's not as fast as he used to be, and he's not very well liked across the league....probably because of the whiner part. Way to go. -
Seems like most fans will disagree, but I hate this signing. The only think I can think of is, maybe he reminds fairchild of I. Bruce. SImilar build, neither is particularly tough. But I've never seen Peerless block well, or more importantly, give up his body to catch a ball that isn't thrown perfectly to him. Like Moulds, have you ever seen Peerless dive to make a catch? I'd like to hope that this staff will give Parrish an opportunity to show that he's a viable #3.

If there's one thing I never would have believed, it's this. I like Steve Fairchild. But.... We now have 9 receivers. Nine. Nueve. Neuf. Neun. So which talented but unproven WR are we gonna let go for nuttin, Aiken? Parrish? Can I get a WTF? I never liked Peerless....
-
Ah, I see that Moulds didn't waste any time... "I'm excited about it," Moulds said. "I was optimistic through the whole deal, but at the same time, to get closure and get an opportunity to get it done is a big plus." http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5450010

Can somebody point me to the new source that indicates that it's a 5th for moulds? I see nothing out there. Or in here. And a 5th isn't bad when you consider that: 1. we had no leverage. 2. time was not on our side, magnifiying point 1. we now have two thirds, two fifths, and two sevenths. More than most teams. Hopefully they'll use those picks to move around to get the guys they want. What else can we fans do but watch and listen? Nada. At least we won't have to hear Moulds say "...but at the same time..." in every sentence.

Don't be so down about the 5th for Moulds

Are you kidding me? Joey Harrington scares you? How about Mike Mularkey? I think the combination of Joey Harrington and Mike Mularkey is GREAT news for the Bills. And any fin fan expressing happiness about this is in denial.

Hey, well at least LABillsFan will have something to cheer about. I don't believe this will happen. Ralph takes anything Marv says as Gospel, and Marv would certainly plant ideas in his head that the buyer of his franchise has to agree to keep it in Buffalo. If that's not already in place. Golisano will be the next owner, and we'll be in great hands. fear not

This has to hurt both Modrak and Guy's credibility
nodnarb replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, this is the impression I've had for a long time. Donahoe and Mularkey really liked JP as much as the other QBs. At last year's draft, Donahoe went on record to assert that he believed that JP would have been the #1 overall pick. I think he was pretty obsessed with the notion of proving that he got the better deal over the STeelers. I don't know if what the guys of WGR are saying is true (that the team hates JP and finds his personality grating) but I know that Donahoe was bested by Cowher in just about every way, and I gather that watching him win a superbowl represented his own personal hell. -
wouldn't mind seeing a trade down with the Broncos to pick up their 2 1sts and then snag Mangold and Carpenter, or Mangold and Bunkley. Something like that. would like to see us steal G Davin Joseph in the 2nd round and DTs Babatunde Oshinowo and Dusty Dvoracek in the 3rd.

The value lies in the Bills' ability to steer Moulds to a team that he would not likely sign with otherwise. If the Eagles were the only team expressing interest, he'd have been cut already and the Eagles and Moulds would be happily married. The interest of other teams has created a nice situation though. We have the cap room to keep him, so teams would be taking a risk that they can't afford to take. For god's sake...the patriots receiving corp is Branch (very good), Bethel Johnson (average when he's healthy, which is rare), and Troy Brown, who's older than Methuseleh. It's a lousy draft class for WRs. The Eagles have a bunch of average joes catching balls, and they very much need a leader of that young bunch of WRs. Other teams have similar problems at WR. There is value in holding onto Moulds. We'll get a pick. It might only be a 5th, but we'll get a pick....to compensate for the lame ass bullschitt reaming we got from the draft compensation committee again this year.
-
Just a thought... The Bills now have 8 WRs under contract. This is a bad draft for WRs. There aren't many good WRs available in FA, if there are any at all beyond Moulds. The Bills have a lotta value at this position that they could potentially use to make moves at some point...
