Sorry if there's already a thread on this, but I thought the bills would make a run at him because he's a poor man's JP Losman: Good mobility, good arm, athletic. He's not as talented, but he'd make a better backup to JP than Holcomb. The problem with Kelly is that he's such a different QB than JP that it doesn't make a lot of sense to have him as a backup. You have to adjust too many things to make your offense work. I don't think KH is going to make our 53 man roster. He's a good guy who I believe is a perfect fit for the WCO, and he'll find a home somewhere for sure. But I have to think that the Bills were keeping an eye on Bollinger because he mirrors JP's skills so well. Now that that's not possible, I suppose there's no point in talking about it. So DO NOT reply to this!

The thing is, that's precisely where Lazy Mike wants to be. Mike wants to collect checks for doing nothing. If he has a back injury he has a back injury, but the fact of the matter is, Mike was known on the team for having a low pain tolerance and being a general wuss about his body. There are a dozen offensive linemen taken after mike williams in the 2002 draft that have had better careers. Jesus, Tom.

Is it just me or am I the only one who thinks...

gotta love tasker, but there should be NO DOUBT that announcing is not his forte. If I had a nickel for every name he gets wrong, I'd have $50.65. His commentary is flat and choppy, his delivery is awkward, and it's time for the powers that be to realize that you can't just gift positions away on account of local celebrity. Stevie baby...listen to yourself and try a new day job. -
Losman has the potential to be very good but

Prediction: Matt leinart will not be special in the nfl. cutler hasn't proven anything yet. what are you whining about? You're trying to make an argument that two unproven qbs are better than a third unproven qb? do you really think leinart is a fit in buffalo? Do you really think he'd want to re-sign after his 5 years is up? Do you really want as your bills qb a guy who's dating paris hilton and who wants to be in hollywood? Fug Leinart. -
nope. not concerned at all. funny how we're three weeks into camp and people are worried that our first round rookie DT isn't dominating anyone. sheesh

Comments I Thought You Would Enjoy
nodnarb replied to Pass the Pipe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yawn. More "we should have drafted..." nonsense. News flash: Winston Justice is soft, is not performing well in philly so far, and had far too much in common with mike williams. That is, in it for the checks, no love of the game, no depth of character on the field... -
great post as usual, simon. and i have to agree about peerless...he has never been a complete player and he never seems to come up with that smart, selfless play. He either catches the ball or he doesn't. I think he was picked up as a familiar guy to provide speed depth. I've been hoping to hear that davis would beat him out, but apparently the coaches like peerless better, considering the depth chart. They know more than i do, so I have to defer to their judgment there.

So, is this McNall guy better than the two
nodnarb replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
can you believe the lack of editorial professionalism out there? -
some quick thoughts fwiw: JP was okay, who knows how he might have played with the 1st team line. Pennington didn't do him any favors. JP makes some good throws but the two things that concern me about him: 1. He tends to miss too many easy throws. 2. He doesn't come off as a guy with a real savvy out there, a guy who knows what the defense is doing, why they're doing it, and how he's going to exploit it, both on THIS play, and two plays down the road. Granted, there are only about 5 QBs who have that level of game savvy, but hey. Wouldn't suck to see it in our guy. Maybe in time. Would have been nice to see Donte make a play. Would have been nice to see Holcomb make a play. For us, that is. Would have been nice to see us get more pressure from the ends. That first half was brutal. That second half wasn't so bad. I have a gut feeling that JP will start vs the Patriots. But I usually get these things wrong, so JP heads: Sorry. (I do want him to succeed...badly. But I'm still not seeing enough calm in his game. i'm not sure it's in his nature. We'll see.)

The Jets have as bad a WR situation as NE. They're cutting their depth and bringing in new faces this late in the game. NE just signed FA Eddie Berlin. Jets | Hill signed Wed, 9 Aug 2006 13:45:35 -0700 The New York Jets have announced the team has signed free agent WR Mario Hill (Titans). Jets | C. Williams signed Wed, 9 Aug 2006 13:45:28 -0700 The New York Jets have announced the team has signed free agent WR Curtis Williams (Giants).

Hey, you might be right, I'm just going off of the chatter I've heard for a while that the WR depth league wide is not that good, and the fact that the NE receivers are either inexperienced, holding out, or injured. And the Jets don't have depth there either. I've read that they're not fond of their #2, McCareins. Also the comments from coach Tolbert today seems to back up the notion that our less experienced WRs have more promise than most #5s, #6s, #7s, etc.
-
George Wilson, Nance, J. Smith, A. Davis, Aiken...at least 4 of these guys is not going to make the team, most likely. And they're all good enough to be at least #3 WR on any team, possibly with the exception of Nance. The best thing that can happen to the Bills right now is to see some injuries to WRs on other teams. It's still early enough in the preseason for WRs to learn a system and have an impact with the first few weeks of the season, and teams that are desperate for talent and depth at WR might be forced to make a trade. I figure our areas of depth need include DT, DE, and perhaps even TE if we're looking to upgrade there. Possibly RB, too. If we can't pull off a trade, I hope these guys don't end up in the AFC East, where there's a WR depth problem. Look at the WR rosters for New England and the Jets. It's talent poor, to say the least. And inexperienced to say the most. They're both going to be watching the waiver wire like hawks.

I'm surprised they didn't try to strike a deal with the skins - greggg loves the guy and they need depth at LB bigtime. Maybe they did try, we wouldn't know...but it's too bad that they didn't get anything for him.

no details yet. finally.

Federal judge rules NFL patdowns unconstitutional
nodnarb replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
in today's world, if you can't handle a quick pat-down, the problem is You. Granted, it sucks that it has come to this, but do we have to wait until there IS a bomb at a major sporting event before we realize that it's probably a good idea to do some kind of baseline checking? A technological solution would be better but until that's a reality, go ahead and pat me down. -
WOuldn't be surprised if, late in the offseason, the Bills bring in Brooks Bollinger when he's inevitably cut by the Jets. He has some skills similar to Losman and wouldn't make a bad 3rd QB if something were to happen to one of our 3 guys.

OL Peters signs contract extension
nodnarb replied to BigDaddy12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like this: "I like playing for the Bills and being a part of this organization," he said. "I could have gone to any of the other 31 teams coming out of college, but I picked the Bills because they were my team growing up. For me to have a chance to play for them for a long time is something I'm excited about." -
Yea, they're horrible. But the video is off the front page of nfl.com.

OL Peters signs contract extension

Perhaps I should have said "guy of rare athletic ability" How many 330 pound guys can run a 4.8? One, as far as the record states...That's pretty rare. -

Great news. Impressive and extremely rare talent. Gotta lock those up. -
The thing that kills me about this is, after the Jags signed him, Tom Donahoe went on national sports radio and called it "a great signing". Yea. It was a great pick, too.

hopefully they'll throw away those montreal alouettes away jerseys while they're at it.
