  1. you have GOT to be kidding...
  2. From what I've taken of it, the original intent was to keep it Colt-simple. Have about a dozen plays that you execute very well, and error-free. Use different formations to disguise them, and go play. That's simple. If Turk wants to call that "Pop Warner" in a feeble attempt to save face, fine. But the more you think about it all, and the more you hear the players talk, the clearer the picture becomes. Turk was not listening, and he let his ambition steer the offense, rather than the team-focused design of the offense. The no-huddle doesn't work unless you can execute your plays consistently. That requires simplicity, especially in the first year. Turk wanted both, and the result was horrific.

  4. Felser's football acumen has never impressed me. He's the market equivalent of a perma-bear. Never goes out on a limb about a coach or player to the positive side.
  5. Copeland was the one guy on the list of cuts that I was disappointed to see. I thought he showed something that none of our other LDEs have shown, through years of being on the team: An edge rush from the left side. Denney and Kelsay have gotten their paltry sacks from coverage delays. I've never once seen either player dip low around a lineman and get sack or sack/fumble. Cope did that twice this preseason against good competition and I'm really surprised they didn't keep him. Nobody is going to fear Denney or kelsay off the edge but they might have had to make arrangements for Cope. Bummer
  6. Comments like THIS are a joke. Look around the league, a-wipe. It's COMMONPLACE for round 5-7 players to not make a roster; typically a team tries to sneak them on the PS. Guess what team has had the most draft picks NOT make their team in recent years...? The Patriots. And players as high as 3rd rounders - most recently QB McConnell. It happens. You don't bash a front office because your 6th round pick didn't make your team.
  7. I was hoping this would happen. I saw no way for simpson to make the final roster. and I don't think he should have. He's a marginal backup - never makes plays unless a ball is tipped right to him, is not physical at all, and is not a special teamer. I'll take a 6th rounder for Ko Simpson...that was the best news of the day.
  8. Did anybody hear ANYTHING? I saw a glum face and static. Maybe that's the theme of the Bills 2009 season: Glum face and static. sigh
  9. Please, pleeeease ask this or a similar question at the Jauron PC: Will you be bringing someone on board with a lot of experience and knowledge of the game to help AVP strategize and plan as well as manage and adjust during the game? If our offense is depending only on AVP and Studesville, god help us. Although...I wonder if Jauron himself is going to get more involved to fill that hole. Can I get an Oy Vey?
  10. wow... turk must have said or done something really, really stupid - beyond his crappy play calling. avp? nice guy. can he match wits with the likes of belichick? not likely. I sure as hell hope that jauron brings in a seasoned and clever mind to consult with avp and help strategize and manage the games. If avp is on an island, that island will soon be LOST. may I please revise my prediction to 5-11 please? thank you.
  11. I don't really have a reply to this post, but I have to ask - are you a M*A*S*H fan? I was. it was big in our house growing up. The reason I ask is that the only time I've ever heard anyone say "horse hockey" it came from Col. Potter's mouth.
  12. i'm laughing because no, of course not. I mean, if a guy on a fan web site can think of it, do ya think Belichick is going to be fooled by something like this? Fooling themselves, perhaps... Turk's future as a coordinator will hinge on the first few weeks. I don't think he should be afforded much patience.
  13. Say it with me, everybody: Preseason...
  14. Donahoe might have the worst record of all time when it comes to drafting offensive linemen.
  15. Well alrighty then!
  16. Didn't mommy teach you not to judge a book by its cover? Eric Wood has looked like the kind of guy we've been hoping to draft for years. Big, smart, tough, relentless, nasty.
  17. This is the Achilles heel of the NFL. But no matter what Maybin says, the responsibility to get this done is his. As if the Bills don't want him in camp. As if the Bills aren't offering a fair and appropriate deal. Yeah right. Maybin can say "business side of things" all he wants. He is showing his true colors by not firing his agent and getting a deal done. This is ridiculous, and a real embarrassment and distraction for the team.
  18. Ko doesn't make plays, and he doesn't hit anybody. He's an average backup FS. He knows where to be most of the time, but he's usually a step late in getting there. If Ko was the answer at FS they wouldn't have drafted Byrd. I'm looking forward to watching that guy play.
  19. This is from thehuddlereport.com, which has an impressive track record of player evaluation and draft predictions. This is from before the 2005 draft: by Drew Boylhart SR Staff Writer January 2005 Ryan Fitzpatrick QB Harvard Strengths Ryan is an excellent QB. He has very good arm strength and throws a good catchable ball with notable velocity. He is very accurate, shows good pocket awareness as well as athleticism in and out of the pocket. Ryan is football smart, shows good overall football instincts and he has excellent mental toughness. He is a leader and will be an impact player at the next level. Needs to Improve It is just a matter of time before Ryan gets accustomed to the next level of play and you will have a Montana/Brady-like QB that can run any offensive system. Talent Board Round 3 Some team is going to get themselves a hell of a QB in a couple of years when they pick this kid. He has the two ingredients that you need: a good, strong arm and very good mental toughness. He can make all the throws along with being a good athlete. If I were a cold weather team that picked an athletically talented QB last year with serious maturity questions about him, (OBVIOUS JPL REFERENCE) I would pick this kid up in the 4th round in a flash. He is very coachable and his teammates will all like him and respect him. He will go through his progressions. He won’t panic in the pocket and pull the ball down and run every time his primary WR is covered. He doesn’t have the type of ego that will not let the players around him get credit for the team playing well. Ryan is not the type of player that demands more emotional attention than anyone else on the team. Ryan has the athletic potential and work ethic to be a true franchise QB at the next level. It’s just a matter of time.
  20. Here's the deal, and it's simple. Maybin is a good kid. Hopefully he's a good player. But he has the rare opportunity to make an important statement, to set a precedent. Okay, Aaron. There are about eight dozen agents out there who would jump at the chance to serve you. Fire the prick who is preventing you from making an impact for the team that is about to give you ludicrous gobs of cash. There is no GOOD reason why his agent needs to see Crabtree's numbers. Base it on last year's slot, plus the % raise given to Moreno. Done. Short of that, he can say whatever he wants about "the business side of things". But it will all be the same old BS anyone can utter. There's nothing special about Maybin right now. Nothing at all. But there could be... You there Aaron?
  21. Nobody seems to be talking about the fact that the line judge failed to call a hands to the face penalty on the Titans DT. It was about as obvious a case of that as I've ever seen. You could see that Andy couldn't even square his face because the guy had his hand under his chin. Watch the play again and you'll notice one other thing: We're damn lucky that Levitre's leg didn't take out TE's knee just as he released it. Whew that was close....
  22. It won't be an either/or situation - he'll play OLB. We'll be facing Seymour | Wilfork | Warren | Burgess | Mayo | Thomas That's 6 pro bowl guys coming at Trent. I hope our line is ready. Oy.
  23. The worst owner in football, bar none: Al Davis. Nobody fails to recognize the value in their own guys like old Al. Burgess, great. It's so Belichick to pick up a guy who is known for low hits on QBs. Even when he has a clear path, he chooses to go low, putting the force of his blows in the knee area. Burgess, a very good and very dirty pass rusher. He'll fit nicely in the lineup next to Wilfork. May karmic injuries befall them all
  24. guys like Crabtree, and agents like Parker, are so bad for the game... greed, arrogance, and narcissism abounds.
