You say that as if Andre Davis is some Pro Bowl WR with a handful of 100 catch seasons on his resume. He's a career underachiever, who ran a good time at his college combine, that has quickly become an NFL journeyman. I could easily see the Bills cutting him. If he were such a talent, he wouldn't have been forced to sign 1 year contracts, 2 years in a row.

Santonio Holmes can't participate mini camp
Deep2Moulds46 replied to syhuang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe that only applies if you are still going for your degree. I'm assuming that since Whitner and Youboty are both juniors coming out, that neither one of them are still pursuing their degree at this time. I could be completly wrong though. -
Round 1 (#8): Selection: S Donte Whitner
Deep2Moulds46 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously this is a controversial pick. That goes without saying. However, obviously 3 things happened here. 1) Whittner was clearly the highest player left on the Bills board when they were ont he clock. If they had several guys bunched in right then, they would have traded down and simply took whichever one was left. Obviously they feel so highly of Whitner that they didnt think it was worth an additional draft pick to chance losing him. 2) We all scream....TRADE DOWN!!!!. Obviously MArv Levy isn't a dumb man. I don't think he had Andy Reid on the phone and said " What's that Andy? A second round pick and the 14th pick in the draft? Well, that's all well and good....but I would feel better about paying Donte Whittner #8 money than trading down and paying him #14 money and getting an additional pick". Obviously there was a glitch there that caused the bills to balk at the idea of trading down. 3) They apparently didn't like either of the DT's left....and Winston Justice from everything I read may be a year or 2 away from even being ready to see the field. Bottom line is......they took the player they wanted.....and while it sounds good to criticize on draft day.....the truth will come out once the pads come on in August. Not the guy I had penciled in for the Bills....but I don't think Marv Levy and the Bills simply negelected a chance to make this team better. They obviously feel Whitner was the best fit for the price of the 8th pick in the draft. -
Who where you wishing the Bills took...
Deep2Moulds46 replied to Chicken Wing '73's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In 2002, I was hoping either Julius Peppers or Joey Harrington would fall to the Bills. I would have rather seen the Bills take Bryant McKinnie at the time....because I thought he was a better fit at left tackle...but I was hoping the Bills would trade down and maybe add a Shockey or Roy Williams. Although, I remember being more preoccupied with the Bledsoe trade than actually focusing on who the Bills were drafting. I was very happy when Josh Reed fell to the Bills ( ouch)........and I remember thinking to myself " who?" when Coy Wire was drafted in round 3. In 2003 I'll admitt it...I was absolutely stunned when we took Willis McGahee. I was praying Michael Haynes or Jerome McDougal would fall to us, and when they didn't....I was thinking either Jason Witten, William Joseph, or reach for Chris Kelsay. In the 2nd round when Jason Witten was STILL there....I was hoping we would take him....but I understood the Kelsay pick. In round 3 ....I was watching every pick hoping, praying...that Witten would fall...but he didn't In 2004 I obviously wanted Roethlesberger to fall. I was very high on Reggie Williams and Michael Clayton and I also really liked Will Smith and Kenechi Udeze. When the Bills came up and Lee Evans, Michael Clayton, Udeze, Will Smith, Tommie Harris , and Vince Wilfork were all still there.....I was hoping for a trade down to aquire an additional second round pick....draft one of those guys....then use your 2 2's to move up to either get Losman or Shaub. In round 3.....I was hoping either Darnell Dockett or Randy Starks would fall to the Bills, because I felt they were both first round talents. They both went off the board early though. I also thought Will Poole would be a consideration. When they traded up to get Losman, I was happy because I absolutely hated Bledsoe and thought we needed a young QB. I was stunned however at the price the Bills paid to get him. On Day 2, I was hoping the Bills would take Ben Utecht out of Minnesota. I didnt at the time realize he was injured and would miss the entire season. I also in rounds 6 and 7 was waiting for them to take Jason Peters. Luckily they signed him. Last season, I was obviously hoping that the steriod issue would make Luis Castillo fall to the Bills. I also was very high on Chris Spencer. However, when Khalif Barnes fell to the middle of the second round.....I was absolutely praying he would keep falling. When the Bills came up on the clock however, I was absolutely clueless as to who they would pick. I thought maybe they would go for Alex Smith ( the TE)....but I really had no idea. No tackle was worth it there.......offensively or defensively. In round 3, I actually thought Kevin Everett was a solid selection. Again, I wasn't hoping for anyone inparticular....but he was a guy I liked. On day 2...I was praying C Jason Brown would fall to us....and he did....but then they drafted Duke Preston who I had absolutely zero idea about outside of some very brief draft tidbits. Looking back....I can see why I'm not a GM. -
Compensitory picks decided this week
Deep2Moulds46 replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What's going to hurt us is Mike Gandy started 16 games at left tackle and Bennie Anderson starter ( I believe 15 ) at LG. Jonas Jennings and Pat Williams signed huge contracts, but Jonas didn't play 1 snap for the 49ers. That's going to hurt the Bills chances of getting anything higher than a 6 or a 7. -
Yeah, in more ways than 1

Could JP Losman be on his way out?
Deep2Moulds46 replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Being a 3rd string QB in Green Bay behind a future hall of famer and a first round pick who has yet to be given a shot to play is a far less attractive situation than being the " 3rd QB" in Buffalo where 1 guy is a journeyman career backup, and the other has already struggled.....and doesn't seem to have the confidence of the coaching staff. I don't think Nall signing here is a sign that Losman is on the way out. I think Nall just did the math, and realized the chances of playing in Buffalo are a lot better than waiting for Favre to retire....THEN hoping Rodgers falls on his face. That's 2 hurdles to clear. -
Pat Kirwan on Sirius says the Saints have Mario Williams rated #1 on their draft board. However, if they make a trade with the Jets that gets them John Abraham, they would seemingly not need another pass rusher. Charles Grant and Will Smith have both been very inconsistent for the Saints since they were drafted....and that's why the Saints are looking at Super Mario. I would say if the Saints get Abraham in the trade.....the draft would look like this 1) Hou- Bush 2) NYJ- Lienart 3) Ten- Cutler 4) NO- Ferguson 5) GB- Williams 6) SF- Hawk 7) Oak- Young 8) Buf If the Saints don't get Abraham...but still pull this trade off....that's when things get interesting for Buffalo 1) Hou- Bush 2) NYJ- Leinart 3) Tenn- Cutler ( They want a Qb.......Cutler will have long overtaken Young by this point....and they love Michael Roos at left tackle who they drafted last year...no need for Brick) 4) N.O- Mario Williams ( # 1 on their draft Board according to Kirwan) 5) GB- Hawk- They have 2 solid tackles...and they need all the defensive help they can find. A LB who is a playmaking machine who ran a sub 4.4. at his proday is just what they would be looking for 6) SF- With Hawk off the board...they will look to solidify their secondary. Probably a little too early for Jimmy Williams....but Michael Huff would probably be the guy. They won't take Ferguson....they already have ridiculous money invested in Jonas Jennings from last year....and they like Adam Snyder out of Oregon who they drafted last year. 7) Oak- According to Kirwan again..........Al Davis is enamoured with Vince Young. They also have big money invested in Gallery....and I would be surprised if they took another OT this high. 8) Buf- Da'Brick could fall.

We have a visitor tomorrow
Deep2Moulds46 replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, I have always heard the Packers were real high on Craig Nall. I can't believe people are freaking out over a 3rd string QB -
Ok, people that say..." We have Crowell....no need for Hawk". If Derrick Brooks in his prime walked into 1 Bills Drive....would you turn him away because you have Angelo Crowell? When you pick 8th in the draft, you better get an impact player. You don't pick and choose because this one season you MIGHT need more help on the defensive line. You take the BEST player available...because these number 1 picks are the foundation of your team. 2 years from now when Fletcher is on his last leg, Posey is a distant memory, and Spikes is 31...AJ Hawk would look ultra-intelligent.

with Peerless Price. He's available. ( I think)

How can you say Mike Gandy will not be a backup. If he is starting anywhere on this line....then it is still a liability.

Jets close to acquiring Ramsey

Good call. Being able to scream at television camera's doesn't make someone a good coach. Edwards is the laughing stock of the league when it comes to game management. -
Bruce is a dick? Right. He is one of the classiest players in the NFL. I'm not sure where you base your opinion on him being a dick.

McCown would be an interesting pick up as 3rd QB
Deep2Moulds46 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Josh McCown will probably only accept a job if he is the starter, or if he has a 50/50 shot at being the starter. My prediction is.....Josh McCown signs on with the Jets , and is the starter there while they groom either Cutler or Young. I could also see McCown going to New Orleans if they cut Brooks, with the exact same scenario as the Jets. -
If memory serves, neither Spikes nor Adams were Pro Bowlers in 2002 ( the year befor they came to Buffalo), thus Eric Moulds, Travs Henry , Ruben Brown, and Drew Bledsoe couldn't recruit them. I do remember hearing that Eric Moulds tried to recruit Hugh Douglas to Buffalo. Luckily that didn't happen. Also, I doubt our punter is going to convince anyone to come anywhere.

I'm really not overally excited about Ted Cotrell. In my opinion, he has proven to be a 1-dimensional defensive coach....only being able to run a 3-4 D. In NY the last couple of years, and last year in Minnesota ( where they have unbelievable young D-Line talent), Cotrell's units continued to underachieve . They all also ran base 4 down linemen fronts. The Bills have some good personell....but they can't hold a candle to the D-Line in Minnesota. Kevin Williams and Pat Williams inside and Kenechi Udeze/ Erasmus James/ Darrion Scott rotating at DE. If Cotrell couldn't make that D-Line dominant...what is he going to do with Chris Kelsay and Tim Anderson?
-
Just imagine Nick Saban's reaction when the Dolphins, who have invested 3 #1 picks ( all high) on their 2 RB's Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, are running a triple WR reverse flea flicker on 3rd and 1 with the game on the line.

Rams OC for the past 3 seasons. Bills QB coach first 2 years under Gregg Williams.

Dick Jauron's coaching staff
Deep2Moulds46 replied to SOPRANO 3695's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does your source realize Caldwell is the assistant to the head coach in Indy, thus cannot be promoted to offensive coordinator by any other team? Probably not. Tell Mike Sherman hi for me. -
Well, he walked away from a HC job to interview with the Falcons to be Mike Vicks QB coach. Nothing like setting yourself up for failure for being the next excuse for Vick as to why he can't play from the pocket.

A few years ago a buddy of mine and I were doing one of those Madden fantasy drafts. Anyway, I needed another good defensive tackle.....so I just went ot the DT pool and picked the highest rated one there....and it was Mark Word. So yeah, that means absolutely nothing...but a couple of years ago he was obviously rated favorably in madden.

wonder if press conference is to announce
Deep2Moulds46 replied to Johnny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont know how to say this without sounding racist....so I just will. Even though they have probably already decided on Haslett, they have to interview the token minority to avoid losing draft picks. -
You always want a touchback on kickoffs. They aren't easy to get..and even the best kickers in the league only get a handfull per season.....but you ALWAYS want touchbacks. Lindell has always had solid hangtime on his kickoffs....he seems to finally be getting some accuracy to go along with it. However, just to keep things in perspective.....last nights game was indoors on the same field turf ( new field turf...just like at the ralph) that he kicks on at home....let's see how he does outdoors in wind and weather conditions.
