  1. The last three player reps for the Bills were Robert Royal, Takeo Spikes and then Lawyer Milloy. I don't know if Milloy was the player rep in '04 or not. He ws in '04 and '05, and then when he was released in '06 offseason, Spikes became the player rep for a season, but Tucker was gone at that point.
  2. Tim, when Donahoe and Polian were here, it was easy to see who was at the head of the table in the draft room. Now that the Bills have this "Inner Circle" with Jauron, Wilson, Modrak, Guy and Brandon, who is the leader of the pack on draft day? I understand Wilson has obvious veto power, but please tell me our 90-year-old owner isn't the guy sitting there on the phone trying to negotiate a trade with Team X to trade up or down. I thought it was interesting that the Bills didnt trade up or down in any round last year during the draft. Not that trading on draft weekend is a recipe for success, but there is something to be said for manuevering around to take the player you want at the proper value point. Does having this democracy type set-up hurt their ability to make quick decisions on draft day?
  3. Any idea how the Bills view Donte Whitner? Some fans feel like the results haven't justified the 8th pick in the NFL draft for a safety, but others think his value is not in his ability to force turnovers, rather his ability to play free, strong and corner in nickel packages. Do the Bills consider him a disappointment to this point?
  4. The Bills.... While there are nights that your wife won't put out, the Bills will always F*** you
  5. So, we're not going to bring in a football guy, instead we're going to rely on Tom Modrak more? OK. And the selling point is ...Modrak wanted to draft Cutler, but we had Losman. So.....what's different? Now that Modrak is part of the "inner circle" he will all of the sudden be able to change Ralph Wilson's mind on draft day? We are rearranging deck chairs on the titanic here.
  6. Who is Anderson? Dockery got a 7 year 49 Million dollar contract. YEs, he got PAID like an All-Pro, but he has never even been to a pro bowl. HE is an average guard. Agree completely on Greer.
  7. Well, Bennett was taken at the end of the second round by Dallas, so we wouldn't have been able to draft him anyway. The question should be Bennett v Hardy
  8. Relax people. I had a thigh contusion once, and I returned to work the next day. Now, in fairness, I wasn't a professional athlete, I delivered Pizzas......and it wasn't the next day, it was a couple days later, and it wasn't a thigh contusion, it was a stomach virus.....but still......no worries.
  9. Think of it this way. If the Bills would have beaten the Giants that day, we probably wouldn't have been in position to draft McKelvin. Who cares what that guy says about Norwood. He looks like he was about 10 years old when it happened. He was probably sleeping when the kick went wide.
  10. Buffalo is not the first or the last team to overspend on a QB on draft day. For some reason, QB's get graded on a curve, and they always jump ahead of other positions on the board. San Fran took Alex Smith when everyone thought Braylon Edwards, Shawne Merriman or Ronnie Brown was the best player in the draft. The Ravens traded a future #1 for Kyle Boller, the Redskins did the same for Jason Campbell and the Browns did for Brady Quinn. I know people might criticize the Lee Evans pick with Tommie Harris on the board, but try to imagine, as bad as our offense is now, how miserable it would be if we didn't draft Lee Evans. Also, that Bills team was 9-7 and should have made the playoffs, and they would have never been in that position if Evans didn't get ridiculously hot at the end of the year and become nearly uncoverable. 2005 no first round pick 2006- best WR available at Bills pick, Santonio Holmes-means no Dante Whitner 2007- best WR available at Bills pick- Dwayne Bowe- Means no Marshawn Lynch 2008- best WR available at Bills pick- none- they all went in round 2. We would have had to overspend on a Darrell Jackson or Derrick Mason to come here and be a quick fix.
  11. You make it sound like Donahoe and Mularkey were too good for the Bills. Donahoe can't find a job now in the league, and Mularkey was the offensive coordinator for a terrible offense for one season, and now he has been demoted to tight ends coach .
  12. In a lot of ways I agree with you, however I do think the combine serves a purpose. Athletes slip through the cracks all of the time. Just because a guy didn't perform in college doesn't mean he won't make it in the NFL. What if he is in a system that doesn't suit his skill set? What if he played one position in college, but really is a better fit for another ( Cato June was a S in college and is now an OLB). I think what the combine does is even the playing field, and show athletism. Guys like Gaines Adams or Calvin Johnson really have nothing to prove, as they have already shown freakish athletic ability and production. However, someone like Matt Jones.....who played QB all through college would have never been drafted if they just looked at game tape. Getting him in front of scouts running drills and showing off his athletism showed the scouts that he had freakish athletic ability.........and made him a first round pick.
  13. I'll say the same thing about Harper I said about Triplett. Yes, he knows the system...and yes he played in the system at Indy. However, if in this system...in Indy.....on a better team....he is an average player ....why is it a good move to bring him in? I'd rather just throw Youboty in and gamble on his upside then have a guy here who is an average player. Harper, Dominick Rhodes, and Cato June are all going to get overpaid for on the open market by teams who want recognizably names. The guy I like is Ken Lucas who the Panthers are rumored to be cutting for cap reasons. UFA........I think Marv will go with an under the radar move. Shaun McDonald WR/ from the rams. Speed to burn...a playmaker at times....and played under Fairchild in St. Louis. I dont see him as a starter, but a strong rotation guy.
  14. I think it's interesting. If a team views him as a tackle, then his agent will use that as leverage in negotiation's to receive tackle money. I don't know if he has ever played tackle in Cincy, so it would be hard for me to pay a lot of money for a guy who has no tackle film at the pro-level. As far as the Bills go, I think they desperately need to upgrade the guard position....HOWEVER, if Steinbach is looking at Steve Hutchinson type money....then I think that is way overspending for the position. I believe in the Bill Polian philosophy. Build your tackles and center position, and fill in with guards.
  15. Absolutely we need a WR. Look at our weapons in the passing game. Outside of Evans...we have a bunch of guys who would not start for 95% of the other NFL teams. This includes TE's. If Evans were to go down, our receiving options would be equivalent to an NFL Europe team, and this offense would completely stall. Also....it's no secret what Bill Belichick likes to do. He takes away your best option. That's why we haven't even been competitive with the Patriots in games where Evans has this supporting cast. Roscoe Parrish is a VERY solid #3 WR's who defenses have to account for, but a guy who see's the field 10 plays a game simply doesn't help the QB enough. This offense desperately needs another playmaker. I never understand why people are affraid to be VERY strong in one area. It's always " We're good enough here.....we're fine here". You don't win by being "fine". You win by excelling in certain area's that the opponent simply cannot account for everything. I fully expect our WR depth chart to be improved in the offseason.
  16. Oh yeah, well in the past 5 minutes I received an email that told me my 100,000 dollar visa shopping spree has arrived............sometimes email lies. Look, I hate to burst your bubble........or anyone for that matter who thinks this is actually true. But, let's say the players ( like McGahee) knew this to be true. Don't you think there would be more of a leak than McGahee saying something stupid in Penthouse magazine. Do you really think 53 players , an entire staff, and everyone connected would keep hush hush? Chris Mortenson, Adam Sheffter, John Clayton, Peter King, Jay Glazer....someone would have already had this story gone public. Nothing can be kept secret anymore in todays NFL. Look how quickly Shefter found out Al Davis was firing Art Shell. There is always a leak. McGahee made a dumb comment in Penthouse magazine. It will probably end up costing him his contract extension in Buffalo....assuming his sub 4 yard per carry average didn't already do so. Other than that, there are no legs to this story. Move on. I swear...50 years from now there will probably be a thread saying " Are our beloved Bills moving to the moon? Bills owner wants to be the first team to play in outter space"
  17. 2003, Bills ( 6-7) at Titans......Score a TD with seconds left to pull within 2 points.........and have to go for 2.....Bledsoe rolls out.....and hits Bobby Shaw who proceeds to attempt to show the referee the ball....and he drops the ball.
  18. The Cover 2 defense which is based on a D-Line getting to the QB is very vulnerable to getting gashed in the run game. The defense is designed to take advantage of an offense that is forced to pass...... generally because they are playing from behind. Teams like the Rams and Colts continue to struggle to stop the run year in and year out. A lot of us are on here right now begging for a run stopping DT net year in the draft, but I would not be surprised if the Bills went status Quo at DT. A rotation of Kyle Williams, LArry Triplett, and John McCargo....with possibly adding a middle round wave player to replace Tim Anderson as the 4th DT. I just think that the history of this defense suggests that teams will not go out and get the big 330 run stuffing D-Tackle. Also....I don't think it would make a difference if they did. In this system, DT's are playing the pass first. Look at the COlts....over the past 2 years they have added Corey Simon...and now Anthony McFarland...and they still get gashed.
  19. My problem with the decision is how long it took to make the decision. Rian Lindell and Moorman were halfway on the field...then ran off....then they got the play into J.P is barely enough time for him to run up to the line and snap the ball very quickly before a delay of game. If they had given J.P a chance to get to the line quickly....and possible read the D and adjust......maybe the last play wouldnt have looked so ugly.
  20. Resigning Nate needs to be prioriot number 1. RIght after that, they need to re-up Fletcher for 3 more years. As bad as this defense is....we have 3 elite players. ( Clements, Fletcher, Schobel)...if we lose any of them.....next years D could be much worse.
  21. Honestly, not only do I think we obviously need to keep Clements around....but I think we need to go out and find another CB. I think Terrence McGee is a solid football player as a Nickelback/ Kick Returner....but as a starting CB he is definintely a liability. He plays well in the slot in the nickel package...but we cannot rely on him as a starting CB.
  22. Or you could make the argument that this team struggles to win the close games against good teams.
  23. I dont know...I thought he looked like the Spikes of old on that ridiculous celebration when he actually made a tackle at the beginning of the 2nd half.
  24. Good to see you're able to keep this conversation mature.
  25. I think both RB's played well today actually. To me, the major mismatch was the Titans O-Line against the Bills front 7........and any receiver that happened to be covered by Terrence McGee. Takeo Spikes looks like the old TKO, but his missed tackles are getting out of hand. I'm hoping this is a Julian Peterson case where he needs a full year before he is fully recovered....but at this point right now....#51 is just another guy out there.
