  1. It's simple. To be effective in the NFL at certain positions, there are must-have qualities, and there are "it would be nice to have" qualities. Fitz has a couple of qualities that are nice to have. A good deep ball and solid mobility. However, he lacks one VERY important quality that is not a luxury. He has terrible accuracy. You can't depend on any QB at the NFL level for any point in time if they can't deliver the ball accurately. Edwards might frustrate us with his checkdowns....he might look like he doesn't care at certain points and he might have the worlds most annoying personality....but he has the accuracy to succeed at the QB position. He's currently the only guy on our depth chart I know that about. Fitz is the only one I know DOESN'T have the accuracy. So, unless you want to see a bunch of 10/27 115 yard performances, I'd say it's time you realize Fitzpatrick isn't an NFL QB.
  2. Last year when everyone was on the Jason Peters Jr. bandwagon for D. Bell, I kept saying how it worried me that he only threw 225 up 9 times at the combine. I realize that's not the end all-be all, and weight room doesn't translate to field performance, but Bell needed to become SO much stronger, ESPECIALLY in this division where the DE's he goes against are all pushing 300LBs. I personally feel Jamon Meredith is better suited to be a left tackle in this division than Demetrius Bell. Bell may have a little more athleticism, but you can bull rush him back into the QB's face and he doesn't move anyone in the running game. The false starts, in my opinion, are correctable and forgivable for year-one. Now, if that repeats in year 2, then maybe we have a concentration/smarts issue, and then you have more to worry about than pure physical ability. I will just never believe Bell is strong enough to be an NFL starting offensive lineman....especially on the left side.
  3. I'm going to predict the Qb rotation will be 1) Fitpatrick 2) Edwards 3) Brohm 4) Brown ( This is the first week of OTA's. Coming out in anything different than how they ended last season would indicate they like someone better than another. If this is truly an open compeition, then I'm guessing that's how it will start.) Personally, I never want to see Ryan Fitzpatrick in a Bills uniform again. I'm guessing the WR depth chart will be... 1) Evans 2) Johnson 3) Parrish 4) Hardy 5) Jackson 6) Easley ( And I expect by the end of training camp, Easley to be 5 and Jackson to be back on the street) RB seems pretty easy to me. 1) Jackson 2) Lynch Spiller will factor in with about 5-8 carries a game, 4-5 returns a game and 3-4 receptions a game.
  4. You mean what player will stick around for a couple of years, offer next to nothing offensively, contribute a little on special teams coverage and then fade away into obscurity? Good question. My guess is Chad Simpson.
  5. Romo, Warner and Matt Moore were all undrafted. I believe Jake Delhomme was undrafted. But you're right. any Bills banking on Levi Brown being the future of the franchise is fooling themselves. As a 7th round pick, it will be a plus if he makes the roster ( which I think he will) and if he ever develops into a solid number 2, then you would have to call that a fantastic pick. If you get a starting franchise QB out of it, then you're looking at one of the best draft picks of all time.
  6. Yet, you have still failed to make a point. So, good job?
  7. The ratings came out before the draft. They just showed the rankings as the players got picked. So, if Spiller had been taken first overaall by the Rams, 32nd overall by the saints or in the 4th round by the Pats, he would still be a 79
  8. Grant Irons looked like Tarzan in street clothes. Just sayin
  9. It is what it is. He obviously would have had a better career in a more productive offense, but the guy lacked any exceptional tools to ever be more than a role player.
  10. Josh Reed was on ESPN Radio in St. Louis, because he participated in Bradford's pro-day so they wanted his impressions of Bradford and also asked him about his plans, and if the Rams would be an attractive landing spot. On the Bills, he said it was time for a change. He enjoyed his time in Buffalo, but it was best for everyone involved for him to move on. Demarco Farr ( former Rams D-lineman.....co-host of the show) said he was looking at Reed's stats....and Reed quickly interrupted him and said "please don't do that" ( laughing). He said to look at his college stats, but his pro stats are terrible. They asked him if he considered himself a possession receiver, and he said yes. He said he likes working out of the slot making tough catches over the middle, and really enjoys mixing it up with Linebackers in run blocking. Asked him about his ability to get deep, and he said "They never sent me deep in Buffalo. They let the other guys, who he called "track stars" run all of the deep routes. Farr said he was looking over Reeds list of QB's in the NFL, and asked if Bledsoe would be the best he played with. Reed said without a doubt. He said he didn't want to knock any of his former teammates, but some of the young guys he has played with threw a 5 yard slant route with the same velocity they throw a deep route, and they didn't understand how to manage certain throws. He then went on to say he thinks Bradford is a good kid, has better accuracy than any QB he has ever played with in the NFL, and he thinks he has a good makeup to be successful early in the NFL. Finally, he said he had been in contact with the Steelers earlier in the offseason, but right now his phone has been quiet.
  11. http://www.maddenbible.com/2010/04/madden-...rookie-ratings/ 3. The Rams made a few good additions with Sam Bradford and I believe Marty Gilyard in the 4th round. They still need tons of help but look improved. 2. The Cowboys made another strong play which PROVES that Jerry Jones does infact play Madden. They traded up for a top 3 Madden Stud in the Draft, Dez Bryant. However Dez is only 6′2 and this moves likely means they move Roy Williams. The Day 1 winners were the Denver Bronco’s. They picked up a Great WR from GT early instead of Dez Bryant who is taller and just as athletic (In Madden) They then traded back up to get Tim Tebow who will be a great Madden weapon when used properly. I think the Bronco’s easily improved themselves more than any other team. Buffalo nabbed CJ Spiller with the 8th pick, which makes them a better but still terrible team in Madden. They could have added nearly anyone and stayed terrible. Just not fun to play with. The Patriots and Giants had a chance to really improve and were in good positions, however the Pats moved down and selected non impact players. Depending on Welkers opening day health, this team could struggle in Madden 11. The Giants added to there already crowded D-line however if the 5-2 is popular next year, they have a great rotation. Plus if the game still rates LB/DE type players well, you can raise hell with that defense! Credit has to also go the Chargers who got us a nice RB from Fresno State in Ryan Matthews. He is a solid overall talent to replace LT and lets us keep Sproles at the speed back with our popular 2 back style. Here are some rookie ratings for Madden 11 You can check out more at EA Sports site and discuss them at Pasta Padre’s site as well. Just want to say great job by EA Sports, they posted the ratings instantly and allowed fans to vote on the ratings. This was interactive and you got to see tons of stats early. Props to Pasta as well for running a nice live chat by using cover it live and following the draft intensely. 12. You said "the grandson", which many of us interpreted as "her grandson", which, as your mother in law, would make the child yours.
  13. I'm guessing somewhere along the way you forgot to add an "n't"
  14. I don't think I would use the word lock, but I think a lot of us have been scratching our head over Roscoe Parrish's lack of involvement in the offense. Obviously a lot of that blame has to go to his own development, but let's also not forget that we haven't exactly had Bill Walsh calling our offensive plays the last 4 seasons. I would like to see Roscoe get a shot with a true offensive mind like Gailey. Because, like him or not, 4.3 speed cannot be taught, and his PR ability proves his speed isn't "track star straight line". I think he can be an asset with the ball in his hands, and on a team void of playmakers, I see no reason why he wouldn't be here.
  15. Think about it from Gaither's point of view. You have been a pretty good left tackle in the NFL. Pretty good Left tackles get paid MUCH more than ELITE right tackles or interior linemen. The Ravens are now shifting Oher to the money making spot on the line. For Gaither, showing up and accepting this new role will only decrease his market value. If he holds out for a trade, he can still negotiate as a left tackle with his new team.
  16. FWIW, Schefter said no deal is on the verge of being done, but it might happen down the road. Sounds like a waiting game for fans.
  17. Good read. JW, After the draft, Gailey hinted that all Qb's on the roster, including Levi Brown, would have a chance to earn the starting job. Now, obviously if Brown earns the starting job out of camp, it's probably more of a statement about our current Qbs. While I don't really want Brown to earn the starting job, I do want him on the active roster. If they are as high on him as they say, then it makes sense to keep him as the #3, instead of risking him being signed elsewhere by practice squading him. Do you see the competition between Fitz/Edwards/Brohm as not only 3 guys trying to be the starter, but also 3 guys battling for 2 roster spots, or is Brown destined to be on the practice squad in your opinion?
  18. There is no way the Ravens are getting/ or asking for a 1 for Gaither. Like somepne previously mentioned, if a team were willing to give up a 1, they would have just signed Gaither as a RFA, and the Ravens would have been taken out of the equation. My guess is the Ravens want a #2 + other consideration, and I'm betting teams around the league are unwilling to part with anything more than a #3. If you take money out of the equation and say, would you be able to draft a player as good as Gaither in the 2nd round next year, then obviously you would trade a 2 for him. But in the NFL, where teams have to balance the budget, 2nd and 3rd round picks shape your roster, become productive starters, and don't even make 7 figures. That's a big difference between that and a guy getting 30+ guaranteed. If I were the Bills, I don't know if I would part with a 2. Rotoworld speculated they wanted Ashton Youboty as a part of the deal. I'd give the Ravens a 3, Youboty and then a conditional 7th that could go as high as a 4 if Gaiter makes certain performance incentives.
  19. You don't trade 1st or second round picks for used RB's who aren't elite and have off field issues. Sorry, Lynch is either going to be here, or he is going to get us very minimal in return.
  20. Mitchell just isn't a very good football player. He has some abilities in pass defense, which I think will get him on the field on 3rd down, since Andre Davis is more of a run stuffer, but if you have Mitchell starting at OLB in your 3-4 defense, you have drastically undersold your fan base. He doesn't create any kind of presence on the edge of a defense, and he doesn't stop the run well at all. If Schobel comes back, then he and Maybin will be the two starting OLBs. If not, I think you'll see Chris Ellis, and even the kid from James Madison we drafted get some looks. I know they project him inside because of his height, but I think he'll end up making his money in the NFL at OLB. I don't see Kelsay fitting in at 3-4 OLB in any way shape or form.
  21. I'd rather hang onto a guy who has pro bowl level ability than trade him away for a 4th round pick. Lynch needs a major attitude adjustment, but he has far greater upside than anyone taken in the 4th round
  22. How bad is it that the only hope we have for some of our younger players is that they have failure in common with other superstars. Brees struggled the first 3 years, so did Edwards. NEED I SAY MORE? You know who else struggled the first 3 years? Ryan LEaf, Jamarcus Russell and Akilli Smith. Eric Moulds was considered a bust the first 2-3 years, and so is Hardy. Well, I guess Hardy is going to be the next Moulds! Or possibly the next Charles Rogers, Mike Williams or Rashaun Woods.
  23. Yeah, Chris Brown, the Buffalo Bills official reporter, should have told us all before the draft that the Bills were locked into Spiller at 9, the interest in Tebow was strictly a smoke screen, and they weren't planning on taking a QB early. That would have made his bosses happy.
