I agree with your point but you do realize tutan reyes is only 29 years old. Hardly "past his prime"

I enjoy reading your posts but the thing is if anything the cover 2 might expose vincents liabilites more then cover for them, especially as it concerns his biggest weakness. His willingness to make contact with the ball carrier in the open field. Cover 2 safety responsibility http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/flash/2005/coverTwo cover 2 safeties don't have to be big but must be tough. need to have combo of range and instinct. Don't have to have pure man-to-man skills-- A lot of cover 2 safeties have straight line speed. Must be able to get to deep perimeter and help over the top. Should be good in run support and excellent open-field tackler. Must be good athlete. Must be smart and able to read offenses. This however on the flip side explain why KO will probably not see the field as a starter at least until he gets the mental aspect down. In any case this isnt a great reason to keep vincent as I believe the coaches on our staff have enough know how to teach KO the ropes. I hate to see progress halted for a 35 year old vet who wont be a part of the bigger picture.

If Nall played "average" what does that make Jp's performance? Seeing as Nall neither threw a pick for a td or lost 2 fumbles.... just sayin I dont really have an opinion on who should start other then Holcomb shouldnt, but I'm very interested in seeing Nall get extended playing time, as well as JP cutting down on his mistakes.

The More I hear Some Bills Want Holcomb
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Buffalo Baumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont know where this stuff about Holcomb being able "to manage a game" and "gives them the best chance to win" stuff is coming from anymore. Maybe cause I dont get to see them at camp or what not but from what I've seen of Fairchilds system, Holcomb has a poor grasp of it. He continuously stares down the receiver from snap to throw, and is highly prone to turnovers by db's jumping routes. Yeah long sustaining drives are nice, but like Jauron and Fairchild have stated to win in this league you need chunkability, and holcomb has shown he doesnt have the field awareness of a 10 year vet or the arm to stretch the field. He may be what vet players want with short throws and low chance of int's but it's been proven in this league countless times if you play to keep it safe you play to lose. JP or Nall might not be headed for canton or even hawaii but their upside far exceeds holcomb who's shown over the course of his career he isn't starter material, and has shown he's not good at this so called "managing a game" with a 63.4 qb rating in games he was winning last season. -
The More I hear Some Bills Want Holcomb
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Buffalo Baumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
lmao. Im inclined to not agree with this, Until I've seen actual players quotes. Ive seen no one coming out in support of KH from the team so far this season, and well the players have eyes They've seen Holcomb play. Its pretty self evident he should have no business being a starter. Not that losman is anything great at least not so far he's shown far more upside then holcomb has. In the unlikely event it's even remotley true I dont think we have to worry about DJ listening to them unlike the previous regime. DJ has more of the philosophy that if you can prove you can play you play. Simple as that. -
I guess you're talking about Brad Butler backup rt. I've been fairly impressed with him, and I still like duke preston. I just worry what happens if Mike Gandy or Fowler goes down.
-
The oline is a hell of a lot quicker then last season, which I think will turn out to be a huge plus especially getting out in space and run blocking. However I'll take a wait and see approach before I have a opinion one way or another.

Top 10 Coolest Actors Of All Time
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Rico's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Denzel in Training day or Man on Fire. Deniro as young vito in Godfather 2 (my personal favorite) Kevin Costner or Sean Connery in the Untouchables Pacino in the devils advocate. I know a lot of people say godfather 1/2 or scarface but I thought he was great in this movie. Laurence fishburn in Deep Cover -
I dont remember where I read it but from what I remember you cant edit players on the xbox360 version.

Should we take a shot at Charles Rogers
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Charles Rogers is intriguing especialy considering if the lions cut him he'll go straight to waiver wires, and the team that signs him will get him on the cheap for around 750k and only be on the hook for 1 year. In that case The reward is greater then the risk, but I dont think he'll ever live up to his pre draft hype. Mostly because he cant stay healthy. If other wideouts dont step up though I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a look. This regime if anything has showed they're willing to take out fliers on guys and give them a 2nd chance. Price/Reed/Watson. So if it could be done I dont see a problem with a little more competition at wr. -
I think rico is a bit of a statue at the keyboard. He can post when he has time, but far to often pats the enter key. Congrats rico on reachin 10k+ posts

Atlanta will keep trading for wr's until they realize the real problem isn't the wr's but #7, but I also think theres some sort of conflict in the falcons organization and thats why they refuse to trade matt schaub. On the other note The Redskins hate draft picks, but TJ Duckett is good insurance for the redskins, and could be a good short yardage/goalline back.

I dont think it's so much watson isn't "in shape" but more due to Watson not fitting the ideal shape for a cover 2 lb, with an emphasis on speed is a must, at watsons current level of fitness he just doesn't fit the mold. Too bad cause I was hoping he'd be groomed to replace fletcher, and we wouldnt have to draft a lb.

QB's likely to be cut or PS'ed by Game 1:
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brooks Bollinger or Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitpatrick obviously because he's familiar with fairchilds system so there wouldn't be a steep learning curve. Brooks Bollinger because Ive seen him a good # of times. He's kind of similar to losman, not the biggest guy, but he's pretty mobile with a good arm. Performed pretty decent considering the circumstances the jets were under last year. Either one of those guys would be fine by me -
Man, Miami has some SERIOUS beef on the D-Line!
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sam Adams was good when he felt like being good. I just felt he half assed it last season. He's not paticularly good against the run, but when he wants to be a force at collapsing the pocket he can be, but its just that kind of attitude I dont want to see. Whether it was the coaches holding him back or whatever. His attitude put me off, and I wont really miss him, but yes I also wish we still had fat pat. -

ted washington was awful last year, as was sam adams. Pat Williams was good, but I'll take the lighter guys who could probably last a whole season, not to mention its much harder to block faster interior linemen then it is fat blimps. -

color me unimpressed about the dolphins dline especially their dt's. Vonnie Holliday and Keith Traylor are due for social security. Jeff zgonia, Dan Wilkinson might be ok as reserves, but big daddy is far past his prime, and not much to brag about. Personally Im more impressed with Fredrick Evans then Vickerson for the fins, but I wouldn't care for either one.
