anyone catch "this week in football"
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to clownments22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes as if the jets defense is made up of all marketable well known names.... Im pretty sure the jets know who Lee Evans is and some may even remember peerless price, and hopefully they get introduced again in a big way mixed in with a lot of #21 -
Miami Game Notes: DLine, OLine, TEs

that was indeed a great block, and then the very next play he whiffed on an outside blitz which resulted in a sack and subsequent punt, but hopefully those times in the future where he does pick up defenders like that it results in long pass plays. -

Source: PWInsider.com According to a number of sources, Kurt Angle is rumored to be surprisingly returning to action with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Dave Hawk, Angle's manager, has apparently contacted media outlets in recent days, informing that Angle is slated to make his MMA debut in 2007. Angle also recently revealed his desire to work in MMA when interviewed with magazine Real Fighter. One name being touted as a possible opponent for Kurt Angle is former WWE Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder, who has been making comments about fighting Angle in UFC next year. Whether this is legitimate or just a stunt to increase interest is unknown. The name of Brock Lesnar is also being thrown around as a possible opponent for Angle. The pair are no strangers to each other after having a memorable feud in WWE, which included them headlining WrestleMania in Seattle, Washington. If Angle were to appear in MMA, it would raise the profile with the curiosity factor, which could in turn lead to higher interest levels, ratings, and PPV buyrates. His signing could also pull in the crossover fans, and even new ones. Angle's injuries remain an issue and whether he could compete in MMA with them remains to be seen. One thing that is for certain, since his departure from World Wrestling Entertainment, Angle has become one of the most-wanted commodities in the wrestling industry. and a statement by Angles camp The following is from Kurt Angle's camp: Dear Angle Friends and Fans: Kurt "The Machine" Angle wants to truly thank everyone for their concerns and best regards to his recovery and wellness. Kurt continues to read your kind messages and he feels truly blessed to have your support, as your well wishes continue to strengthen him mentally and physically. He also apologizes as he would love to reply to you everyone but unfortunately due to timing with his family, his rehabilitation, training, and business leaves very little time to converse. Kurt wants me to update you, he's happy to express his physical condition is fastly rebounding. When Kurt left WWE, he was beaten and battered down at a mirror 220. Over the past many weeks with the right rest, a wonderful wife who is preparing the ideal diet, daily physical therapy, and back to good strength training we are happy to report he's up to a solid 240 with about 85% full flexibility.... As you may have seen or heard the latest news, Kurt Angle is a huge fan of all MMA programs (K1, UFC, PRIDE, WEC, and IFL to name a few) this former Olympic Gold Medalist and Extreme Athlete has the heart and the deep driven passion to show he's the best of the best. Angle has his sight on a full physical recovery and plans a day to put it all on the line....Real Fighter will have the exclusive.... FWIW I truly hope he doesnt do this. The man has serious injuies for years now. I know hes driven by an insane desire to compete, but after avoiding potentialy life threatining injuries for year I hope for his own sake he leaves well enough alone

Good analysis and part of the reason Im a big proponent of the tampa 2. As muck flak as our run defense has gotten we've yet to give up a rushing td, and I dont care what team you are with the speed of this defense yes we'll give up rushing yards due to size, but for every 5+ yard run we give up there will also be runs of -2, -3 yards, in which teams will be forced to pass, creating advantages for our secondary. I was just wondering one thing though about the running game and maybe you know why, but why is there a drastic drop in the running production in the 2nd half is it conditioning, not use to the scheme or other mitigating factors? -

I think he was quoting something from a jets board, atleast I'll give him the benefit of the doubt due to the confused face he posted in his post -

That geek in his avatar is the qb who Losman is most compared to. Personally I expect a lot more then Plummer esque out of losman because of what we gave up for him, but if he can keep on winning I dont care what his stats are. -

A Jets Fan's Perspective
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to ronnydynamic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I highly doubt defensive coordinators around the league look at Losman like "wow we have to stop this guy he can do some damage". They probably want to force him to have to throw to see if he can beat them. We're a far ways away from having a reliable qb, but he has looked better then at any point last season. FWIW Glad you stoped by ronny. Jets/Bills games always seem to be hard fought and close to the vest. Pennington is looking a bit like his old self, which is good news for you, and your teams front office did a good job trying to fortify the oline for the future with dbrick and mangold. Vilma is a beast as always, and I look foward to a good game with hopefully no injuries. -
Okay....Enough about Miami....On to the Jets
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My biggest concern is Chad Pennington. He is the jets offense and can cerebrally pick apart a defense. However Id also on the flip side of the coin venture to say chad pennington is also a big weakness for the jets and falls into our biggest strength. Pennington lacks the arm strength for a quick strike offense, and I whole heartedly believe with the speed of our defense which is faster then the titans or patriots we'll be able to cut off a lot of the short reads forcing pennington to try to push the ball down the field, resulting in good turnover opportunities. I know it's terribly cliche, but the bills must avoid turnovers in their end of the field and must establish field position. The one thing pennington is great at is redzone work. I dont think he's ever thrown an int in the redzone. On the offensive side of the ball Willis, Willis, Willis. In the 3 games he's started vs the jets he has 388 yards on 88 carries and 2 tds. Establish the ground game and take away the short passing game which btw the tampa 2 defense is designed to do and I believe we can win this game handidly, although I expect it to be close. -
If you watched last night's game
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I absolutly loved the game last night . A defensive struggle at its best mixed in by just enough offense for the jags to prevail. Hard hitting all around. Donovan Darius is a fun safety to watch he was looking to just kill people last night, and rashean mathis is proving once again hes one of the best corners no ones heard of. The jags defense all around smothered the steelers. Only one drive past the midfield for pitt and that came in the 1st quater, no runs over 8 yards no 30 yard drives. It was also good to see tough hard running out of fred taylor. The Jags d looked phenomanal, but if they want to go deep into the playoffs assuming they get there they need fred taylor to stay healthy. Easier said then done. -

So far in his career Mcgahee has made the jets his personal B word. 2004 vs NYJ 5 nyj | 8 42 | 2 | 0 | (Didn't start) 9 nyj | 37 132 | 11 | 1 | 2005 vs NYJ 6 nyj | 29 143 | 24 | 1 | 17 nyj | 22 113 | 22 | 0 | I dont expect much of a different showing this time around either. Look for a big showing on the ground next Sunday -

And this is one hell of a game. Classic Defensive football at its best. The Jags are for real. -
Honestly I think the jets are my favorite team in the division to play they always seem to be the most competative games, compared to our games with mia or ne.
-
Personally I much prefer mcgee over chambers and clements over booker. Not because Mcgee is a better cb, but because I believe its a better matchup. While Clements is plenty fast, mcgee has the extra burst to cover deep routes, where as clements a more physical corner has better short range quickness then mcgee and is better suited to cover the bigger booker. I think a lot of you still look at this as, well chambers is the #1 so the #1 corner covers him. We're a zone team now, not man to man
