You can't possibly be defending losmans play in the first half. I like his potential as much as the next guy, but he just looks flat out lost at the worst times. -

Randy Moss isn't half the wr TO is. Moss is nothing more then a straight line speed jump ball wr. He wont go over the middle, he's not good at running short or intermediate routes. Give TO all the criticism you want the fact is on Sundays TO will go all out. Moss goes all out only when he feels like it. I'm glad buffalo isn't interested. The last thing a young team needs is a wr who while not the locker room distraction that TO is, will do plenty damage in his own right. Moss no longer has the same speed he had a few years ago, and while I'm sure defenses still have to respect him, he can be taken out of a game and made a complete non factor. His quickness off the snap is nill making him a less then ideal wr for slants or quick outs. Where as Owens could run those routes and get big yac. Moss would be best served on a team ready to win now. I won't rag on moss for speaking out about the garbage dump that is the raiders organization, but moss's skills in recent years have definitly declined.

I've just never been a big terrence mcgee fan. I think he's an average corner who is overrated by a lot of bills fans. With that said I also think Clements is a lot better then a lot of bills fans will admit to. He might not be making the plays he's made in the past, but he's also not getting tested all that much. I just dont want to see terrence as our #1 corner next year.

Seeing Roy Williams(assuming he plays) double move mcgee all game will be fun. I think kiwaukee thomas has played well as the nickel back. It could get ugly with him as a starter.

through 5 games, the bills are ...
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eagles- true but they also have a fairly good qb who can do damage running the ball himself, and correll buckhalter is contributing as well. sehawks- alexander has been awful this year averaging 2.9ypc. Their fb mack strong and maurice morris have been doing most of their rushing work. Non effective rushing attack. chiefs- Johnson isn't having a great year now as the full time guy. True his ot's being gone probably plays a big deal into that, still hasn't been effective though. They do have michael bennett though who is a home run hitter. I agree the oline plays a huge deal into it. I just believe it's always better to have that additional back. Change up the pace, so defenses have to stay on their toes and can't just gameplan for one style of running. I think this is a more sound strategy especially for a team with a qb defenses don't respect. -

I wont put it on the coaches. However I will say it's a combination of learning yet another new system, 3 new players on the oline. Counting Peters first full year as a starter. The Lack of wr's. Yeah Evans is good, and who else is a threat here. No one has yet to step up. The Lack of a polished qb. I like Losmans potential as much as the next guy but he's far from a finished proven product. No defenses respect losman yet and rightfully so. The lack of a homerun threat at rb contributes. However that's not saying. Get rid of WM. I'm simply stating having that backup to come in and give us another option. Every good offense nowadays has 2 good backs. Sd has tomlinson/turner. Ne has Dillon/Maroney. The falcons have dunn/norwood. The Redskins have Portis/Betts. Giants Barber/Jacobs. Having that 2nd back to come in and be effective rushing the ball giving McGahee a breather while also contributing positive yardage, would be a tremendous help to the offense as a whole. I believe it's a combination of all these things. Mostly though Id say it's consistency. You can't keep changing philosophies year after year and expect results. You need continuation within a system, in order to be effective. Overall I'm not suprised at the rankings. I never expected much out of the offense as a whole. There's talent there, but like I said without consistency within a system you'll never improve I don't care what players you have. -
We MUST have Speed at DT
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Corey Simon was never a "run stoppng" dt. He was known as a penetrating pass rushing dt. his 32 sacks in 5 years in philly will attest to that. That's the corey simon the colts thought they were getting. An Interior force. It turns out simon is the lazy choad eagles fans complained about him being in his final year in philly. For any defensive system you have to have patience. Jauron seems like a pretty sharp mind I highly doubt hes happy being stuck with the dt's we currently have or the dline in general. Give it time and another draft or 2 and hopefully we'll be putting out a defense similar to the bears who went thru a lot of the issues we're currently going thru when first adjusting to the cover 2 scheme. Ian Scott/Tommie Harris/Tank Johnson aren't big run stoppers either they seem do just fine. -
I like schobel I think he's a solid de. However I think he lacks any kind of pass rush moves outside of beat his man off the snap and head upfield. This imo is what seperates him from top tier pass rushers, who have more moves then simply relying on speed. Schobel is far too often pushed out of a play, then generating pressure. I'm not really a sack stat guy, I'd have a higher opinion of as could he simply get pressure on opposing qb's on a consistent basis. I think this is one area where his game really lacks, and the main reason why I wont put him in the top tier of de's. He'd be best served with a pass rushing threat opposite him.

Funny Willis McGahee shirts on ebay

Gary coleman different strokes. What chu talkin bout Willis? -
Year Team G GS Att Yds Avg Lg TD 20+ 1st 2006 Buffalo Bills 5 5 113 439 3.9 32 1 1 21 - Willis McGahee 2006 Kansas City Chiefs 4 4 90 331 3.7 28 2 2 15 - Larry Johnson 2006 San Diego Chargers 4 4 89 336 3.8 58 3 2 13 - Ladanian Tomlinson LT is now in his 3rd season in his career which he's averaging under 4 yards per carry. Last years phenom LJ is averaging only 3.7ypc. Seems he can't make yards without having one of the best olines in the league. Laurence Maroney vs Miami 18 38 0 11 Willis vs Miami 25 91 0 15 Maroney vs the jets L. Maroney 16 65 1 14 Willis vs the jets 26 150 0 32 I used similar games. Willis hasn't had the luxury of facing the bengals run defense which is one of the worst in the league. Maroney is a nice rb I take nothing away from him. He also has the benefit of having tom brady at qb, a good run blocking offensive line in having another good rb to split carries with. Willis has JP Losman and a line featuring mike gandy and a converted te playing rt. You do need talent around you. To rag on Mcgahee cause he's not Thurman or OJ is down right retarded. It would be the equivalent of holding JP's performance up to that of Jim Kelly. Or Lee Evans to that of Andre Reed. McGahee is a damn good back. Not the best in the league but a top 10-12 without a doubt. You don't need a home run hitting rb to have a more then effective run game. A Big boost to the run game would be to find a rb to come off the bench who can get that big run but keeping mcgahee around to wear down defenses. A Luxury teams like ne/denver/atlanta/new orleans/sd and some other teams have and we don't at this time. Hopefully eventually we will. In todays nfl its hard to get by with just one good back. P.S. Frank gore Who? Pay attention to football man frank gore was considered one of the top rb prospects in the nation before blowing out his knees at The U. He's just now getting back to that level. You'll hear plenty about Frank Gore in the coming years.

You would think that but this is a guy who really doesnt like young qb's. He stuck with Interceptaverde he'll stick with Bledsoe.

And the most overrated Bills award goes to...
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to billsfanone's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In certain situations yes. There's not a lot of experience in the system, however when the coverage is on it can free up the dline to get pressure. The system itself more or less relies on pressure from the dline. You still have to have a good secondary, but the tampa 2 is a pass rush attacking defense that starts up front. A luxury we can't afford. however they've yet to give up a huge passing day 300+ yards which tells me they can hold coverage. The main thing I dont like about schobel is the constant wide lane he takes on a rush. It seems to me he really has no variation of pass rush moves, and if he doesn't beat his man off the snap with his inital speed he can simply be walked out of the play by being cut off and having to run up field and back around. The dt's are average-below average. I believe in time McCargo will be good and I believe Larry Triplett was a good signing but until we upgrade de and wait for McCargo/Triplett/Williams to get experience in the system it will be to the secondary to consistently hold coverage. It explains why the corners play off the wr's. It's frustrating to watch, but it's what we're stuck with for the time being. -
Bears Haven't Proven Anything Yet.
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to DieHardBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
probably the rams are 4-1 and beat denver. They have the offensive talent to put up points and their defense seems to be playing well -
tomlinson also averaging under 4 yards per carry on the season

One more thing about the defense.......
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills lack experience in the system and the dline talent of the bears. Even without ogun and ian scott the bears have players who can step in and contribute. Mark Anderson is a monster, and tank johnson would be a starting dt for most teams. Meanwhile we have average to poor dline talent that consistently gets exposed against better teams. -
I dont think we'll beat the jags either, but I'll root for a victory nonetheless
