the 4.24 40 time was from before the knee injury, but if you would've read instead of glancing you would've seen that. I'd say his 40 time now is probably around 4.55 to be fair, which is still plenty fast. Like I've said previously we lack playmakers on this offense, but I refuse to dog a guy who got 3/4ths of our offensive and I use that term loosely output on sunday.

I simply do not like the scheme for the talent
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends who you got on the dline? Seymour/Wilfork/Warren or schoebel/triplett/williams/kelsay? That imo is where the biggest difference lies. Not the overall talent of the skill players but the players you have up front. If you don't get dline pressure the scheme falls apart. We got pressure for the first half, the 2nd half was a complete different story. Lack of pressure has been a bigger issue then who's playing in the back 7. It's also why we see so much soft zone instead of more bump and run at the los by our corners. It's not by design, right now it's by necessity due to lack of dline talent. -

that about covers it. If losman showed consistently good things in his games, then I'd have a definite yes, but he makes the same types of mistake bledsoe makes. Good between the 20's and then takes sacks, fumbles or makes general bad decisions that make you want to punch a hole thru the wall. I guess it's better a young guy does it then a 13 year vet, but for how much longer will "well he's young" excuse fly? -

Bledsoe as a rookie was sacked 16 times. I posted about Bledsoes regression on a previous page, but thru his first few seasons bledsoe was rarely sacked -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to erynthered's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This Drew Bledsoe is not the same bledsoe who came into the league. Bledsoe from 93-99 gad 3,921 pass attempts and was sacked 212 times or once every 18 pass attempts from 2000-2006 bledsoe has thrown 2360 passes and been sacked 251 times or once every 9 pass attempts. He's actually cut down on his int's throwing 123 from 93-99 and only 82 from 2000-2006. His fumbles have naturally gone up with being sacked more often. He no longer has the field awareness he had in his younger days, probably from being hit so damn much. He was a talented qb who just never worked to improve his game, and over time has just naturally regressed. -

I'm curious where do the bills rank in redzone opportunities. Hell when was the last time we've been inside an opponents 10 yard line? -

Thurman Thomas talking about WM...
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dallas has 2 very good wr's an all pro te, buffalo has an unproven #1 and robert royal. I dont know what you want here. Brandon Jacobs is a great short yardage back. It would be great to have a 1-2 bunch like that. I've been clamoring to have that for quite some time. Maybe you have my stance a little backwards. I dont think McGahee is a top 5 back but I would put him between 10-13. I dont put everything on the line and there are a lot of times McGahee drives me nuts, with stutter steps when he should hit the hole, but he's a good rb. I'm just tired of seeing good players run out of here. He's far from our biggest problem, and maybe it would be best served to get another good back in and copy the formula of teams like ne/sd/atl/nyg/no, who all have more then 1 good rb. About the screen pass? He had a nice catch and run so did McGahee on the shovel pass on our 1st posession against ne. So what are you trying to get at there? That Julius Jones looked quicker running 20 yards then willis did running 50? -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok So I'm watching the rb's tonight. Tiki Barber looks great as always, but of course I've always said that. Hell I think barber is the best rb in the league. Still not impressed with Julius Jones at all, and tonight is no different. 30 yards into the 3rd quater 2.3ypc. Don't see any quickness there. -
what does that do with how losman has played? Why can't people talk about other qb's who have played well without it being taken as a stab against losman? Besides now really isn't the most opportune time to state leinart had a bad game. Losman didn't exactaly shine yesterday himself.

Before Henry got benched in 04 he was playing rather sh-------. 273 yards on 80 carries 3.4ypc. Missed the miami game with an injury and mcgahee came in and had 100 yard effort. The coaching staff gave henry the job back at baltimore where he was ineffective and replaced by willis in the 2nd half. Henry never took the mcgahee drafting like a pro. Which is a shame because henry is a tough runner. It's too bad it didn't work out. It would've been nice to have a good 1-2 punch ala dillon/maroney tomlinson/turner. McGahee/Henry could've been on that level had it worked out imho. I agree with you though it's asinine how good players are constantly dogged by bills fans, just for the sake of blaming someone. -
The Drew Brees Comparison
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Reddy Freddy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe cause Drew Brees was a 2nd rd draft pick who the chargers acquired picks to take, where as Losman was taken after trading a 2nd,5th, and following years 1st rd draft choice? I'm willing to give losman time, and he should at least get the rest of the year, his fumbling and locking on to receivers are hard habbits for qb's to break. -
I wish the bills would spend 1st round picks all across our defensive line like the pats did with seymour/wilfork/warren. I wish the bills had a te as good as ben watson. I wish the bills had 2 quality backs instead of one, or an offensive line. I wish the bills had a qb half as good as tom brady, that no matter how bad he looks one minute you just know he'll make 2-3 plays that help your team win, not drive down the field and throw a pick or fumble when you need points. I hate envying teams especially in our division, but we are a really horrible team, and they are a very good one.

How is it almost laughable? Did you see losman play today? He was awful, and has been awful for the past 3 weeks. -
Calvin Johnson Or Joe Thomas?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Daniel Synder approach does not work. The best way to consistently win is to build via the draft. Yeah free agent acquisitions are nice fan fodder to talk about, cause more people realize what that player brings, but you build your core of your team via the draft not free agency. -
Looking ahead to the 2007 draft....
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to SnakeOiler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm more then willing to wait on the potential of McCargo. I think he's going to be a good one, however due to using a rotational system and how completly ineffective our dt's have been paticularly against the run, and not much better at interior pressure in the passing game, which is pretty much needed in a cover 2. I dont see how we can go into next season with the exact same guys we have no now. Maybe that guy is already on the roster, or maybe we can get him via free agency, or maybe via draft, but it is a big need area nonetheless. Yeah the draft is a complete crapshoot. Sometimes you hit sometimes you don't. I'm not looking for overnight delivery. We're obviously rebuilding, and I view even college prospects as a potential upgrades. We know what we have in tim anderson by now which is not much, and the need for quality linemen can never be understated just look at the patriots who have draft seymour, wilfork, warren all in the 1st rd. Now that's the only way to go, but you don't limit yourself just cause you drafted 1 dt in the 1st last season. If a guy is there who you think highly of by all means pick him. You can never have enough good linemen. This includes defensive ends. -

Calvin Johnson Or Joe Thomas?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
for every charles rogers or peter warrick theres a mike williams and robert gallery. This is like kzoo mike said, another bush/williams debate. You're picking top 5 odds are you have more needs then just filling a spot. You want the best player available if you're drafting that high. No way I take thomas over calvin johnson if I had the opportunity to draft either or. Talents like Johnson don't come around often, and high picks on linemen aren't the only way to build quality offensive lines contrary to popular belief. -

Hands Down Calvin Johnson. He's the best player in college football period. -

Terrence Mcgee, the great wide receiver
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to daquixers_is_back's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
since I'm bored some fuel for the fire. Picked this little nugget off mcgees prospect profile CAREER NOTES Four-year starter who is regarded as not only a superb coverage defender, but also an excellent return specialist and a kick blocker … Saw brief action on offense during his career … Nicknamed "Turtle" for the way he wears his shoulder pads above his ears before dropping them on his shoulders at the last possible moment before practice … Recorded 192 tackles (142 solos) with a 9-yard sack, 6 stops for losses of 25 yards, 46 deflected passes, 11 interceptions for 166 yards in returns and 2 touchdowns, 4 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 3 blocked kicks in 43 games … Returned 56 punts for a school career-record 972 yards (17.4 avg) and 3 touchdowns, breaking the old mark of 845 yards by Al Dodd (1963-66) … Added 267 yards on 12 kickoff returns (22.3 avg), 12 yards on a reception and 5 yards on 3 carries. Now obviously that's much of nothing, but occasionaly using mcgee on offense wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Steve Smith btw has been a wr since highschool and was a standout wr at Utah. I'm not above getting the ball in the hands of players who can make plays, but comparing mcgee to smith is a little over the top. Still I've heard worse ideas -
Nate Clements- stay. I never thought mcgee was going to be anything more than a nickle back, and I especially don't want to see him as a #1 corner in 07. please re-sign nate. If we don't re-sign him then yeah asante samuel would be a good option. London Fletcher- gone. We're thin at lb I know, but fletch is on the wrong side of 30 and in a defense that emphasizes speed, I cant see bringing back a guy who's only going to decline. Going lb in the 1st wouldn't be a bad route. daimon shelton- gone rian lindell- stay sam aiken- can we cut him already please? Andre Davis- stay. He's a good st's player, and does bring speed as a #4 or #5 wr, something Sam Aiken doesn't. Mike Gandy- Re-sign. I know this probably won't happen, but maybe a switch to guard which is his more natural position would be best served. If nothing else would be great depth. I doubt any team would seriously look at him as a starting lt unless they're desperate. Chris Kelsay- Gone. I only hope we can finally bring in a real pass rusher. Tiny Tim Anderson- gone. Unless he shows major improvement the rest of the season. Dissapointment. Too bad I thought he'd be a good player. I liked him in college.
