Who Will Cover Harrison This Week?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Frez's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, he won't. Honestly in this game I'd match Clements on Wayne and McGee on Harrison. I know that's not a pretty matchup at all and the colts have weapons galore cause if harrison or wayne don't get ya they run a good # of 2 te sets and clark and ben utceht will hurt you, but Wayne being the bigger and more physical of the colts wrs Id prefer clements covering him over McGee. -
So why the Cover 2 again?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was looking at the bears defensive stats in their first year in the cover 2 in lovies first year as a hc. Now granted I cant compare it to the bills after 8 games, but the point is from 04-05 they took a huge step foward in defensive production. Like you stated in your post. "We would be lacking in talent right now in any system". Have Patience we've had 1 draft under a new regime. The right mix of players isn't going to happen over night. Whether we went to a cover 2 3-4, 4-3, 4-6 or whatever we lacked talent on defense. Is there other areas that could've been addressed other then safety? You betcha, but it was still a huge need. Maybe I'm being overly optomistic about this system, but I really believe once we get the dl together the system will work. Bears 2004 defense Team Defense |---------- PASSING -----------||----- RUSHING -----| TOTAL CMP ATT YD YPA TD INT ATT YD YPA TD YD 286 515 3340 6.49 23 17 496 2050 4.13 9 5390 NFL rank 9 18 15 16 18 16 27 25 16 10 21 Bills 2006 first 8 games Team Defense |---------- PASSING -----------||----- RUSHING -----| TOTAL CMP ATT YD YPA TD INT ATT YD YPA TD YD 167 269 1683 6.26 11 7 223 944 4.23 7 2627 NFL rank 27 24 19 14 19 22 15 19 23 23 18 Pretty much comparable if you extend the bills to a 16 game stretch. I expect the bills defense to pick it up and actually come up with better #'s in the rest of the season. Especially as it relates to turnovers and run defense. I know you can't bank on a turnaround like the bears had within the system from 04-05, but another draft some solid pickups in free agency and I can see the team taking a big jump fowards on defense. Offense well that's a whole different story. -
My predicted post-game quote
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"We just got our ass totally kicked. We couldnt do diddly poo offensively. We couldn't make a first down. We couldn't run the ball. We didn't try to run the ball. We couldn't complete a pass. We Sucked. The 2nd half we sucked. We couldn't stop the run. Everytime they got the ball they went down and got points. We got our ass totally kicked in the 2nd half. That's what it boiled down to. It was a horseshit performance in the 2nd half. Horseshit I'm totally embarrsed and fully ashamed. Coaching did a horrible job. Players did a horrible job. We got our ass kicked in that 2nd half. It sucked.. It stunk" -
yeah what you said

Is it just me, or is there no spirit on this team
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to BoondckCL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hypothetical question. If you're a current receiver for the buffalo bills, and you droped a pass and losman got in your face what would your initial reaction be? Losman hasn't earned the right to do that sort of thing. It would just be kind of hypocritical and come off as "hey you're jp losman now stfu". -

YOUR Top 10 QBs all-time in order.
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Tcali's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
agree 100% being only 22 I never saw the qb's of the 70's and most of the 80's but young is the best qb I've ever watched play. -
I'll throw in larry triplett as well

Clements good play for the first time this year showed up on the final score. It was great to see. Hopefully it continues and we can get a contract with him done. I agree wholeheartedly about atrain. It's great to see and hopefully if/when willis comes back we can have a solid 1-2 punch. Give defenses different looks and pound the run, especially with an struggling oline and qb. I agree. Not that he's awful, but it's just time to move on. Sadly he'll stick around till after he breaks Marinos td record. Also Id like to see the playbook opened up a little more. Take some more shots down the field. Substained drives with a new scheme, bad oline, struggling qb are not going to be one of our strengths. Try to take the pressure off by letting losman take more shots down the field. We have the speed at wr. Use it. I also believe as the season winds down we'll begin to see the defense improve big time, giving us a solid core to look foward too in the future. Defenses generally mature faster then offenses. I expect the bills to be no different in that regard.

anthony hargrove. DE from the rams we gave up a 5th rd pick for in next years draft. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/492954

Hargrove seemed to be on the field quite a bit. It doesnt show up on stat sheets, but the defense played well all around. If nothing else just having someone excited can rub off on teammates
