  2. ND apparantly decided not to play defense this week
  3. What exactaly has maroney done that he gets unwarented hype? It's almost as bad as the ronnie brown love fest people had last year. Another back who split carries in college and who wasn't as good as the guy he split carries with. If he can excell as the main guy I'll change my opinion, but as it stands I dont see him as anything special at his position. As far as Ben Watson yeah I'd take him over our te's and any te not named Gates, Gonzalez or Witten. He has amazing speed and great hands. He's gonna be a star if he stays healthy.
  4. Ahh so it was Brady who was picking off Mannings passes in those 2 playoff games against the pats. I think Tony Dungy is just as much to blame for the colts recent playoff failures as manning is.
  5. Wait so they'd be better off without a rb whos #'s since 2000 are better then any rb in the league? How the hell did you come up with that gem?
  6. great stuff. Every team plays their corners off every once in awhile which is fine, but williams/gray made that their base package. It was maddening
  7. Section My ass on the couch seat sunday ticket
  8. Yeah on only 13 carries. How do you give edge only 13 carries? He's a back that needs at least 25 carries to accumulate yardage. With that said Manning plays with what he's dealt like any other team. I wont make excuses for him cause his defense actually was a top 15 defense last year 11th in yardage and 2nd in scoring defense. Overall he just hasn't been productive in the playoffs. He's a great player who will always give your team a chance and for that alone I'd take him over any qb not named Brady.
  9. Jax 30- Bills 13 We keep it close for awhile late offensive turnovers blow the game open for the jags
  10. It's not like Coughlin hasnt been outcoached before and probably will be outcoached again. He has a big prefrence for passing offense over the run game.It cost him superbowl opportunities in jacksonville, and now being in the media capital, he can expect to hear plenty criticism for his coaching style or lack thereof, especially when players bring it up. I dont see anything wrong with what tiki said it's pretty much true.
  11. Out of that list vince manuwai and eric johnson
  12. Rivers was the best qb of that 04 draft class and he'll prove it for years to come so yeah Rivers.
  13. SD has an amazing offense, and I think they are the most talented team in the afc, however they can't week after week expect to continue to overcome 20 point deficits. In the AFC West KC seems to be emerging as a legit playoff caliber team. Their defense has improved leaps and bounds. They could play spoilers. IThey're not getting talked about because they dont have a Tomlinson or Rivers or Merriman, but they're playing every bit as balanced as SD, and their rb seems to be every bit as good although not as flashy as LT. Herm has done wonders with a defense that was a league laughinstock the past few years. However it's Herm and Marty either one or both are capable of a gaffer. Denvers defense has taken a dramatic fall from earlier in the year, and with the colts inability to stop the run I believe that will translate in the inability to win a playoff game. You also can't count out the Patriots, but right now I'd have to lean with the side of SD. Dallas did the right thing moving on from Bledsoe and inserting Romo. However if they have one issue that almost be just as big might be Marion Barber supplanting Julius Jones. Jones over the last 6 games has 105 attempts for 359 yards 3.4ypc and 1 td. If you can't run the ball in the postseason you just wont cut it. It kind of gets lost in the shuffle that as good as Romo has been Julius Jones has not. I'd look for Barbers carries to increase as the season wears on. Carolina getting back Deangelo Williams is huge. It takes a lot of pressure off delhomme and brings back a much needed balance to the panthers offense. Right now they look like the only legit options to knock off Chicago with the Sehawks unable to run the ball, and the Aint's starting to slide. I'll still take Chicago for now, with the panthers as the dark horse. SUPERBOWL 41 Chicago/SD SD 20-13 Superbowl MVP- Phillip Rivers
  14. From me to everyone here at TBD, I would just like to say I hope your day is filled with enjoying good food, time well spent with family and loved ones, doing what makes you happy, and enjoying some bad football. Have a good one
  15. Hopefully not. That first pass was an absolute duck. I dont mind the redzone running, but I hope the passing is the first option and run last.
  16. Since the Texans came into the league they own a 6-4 advantage over the jags and have beaten the jags 4 of the last 6 times they played.
  17. I still dont understand what "The Defense needs to him" means
  18. We have a hell of a lot of capspace next season. Too much not re-sign clements just because we need some immaginary linemen that will solve all our offensive woes. We can't keep affording to let good players go to bring in bargain basement fa's and hope they can replace them. Clements is too valuable to let go and create more holes on our team that we don't need. Unless you're comfortable with kiwaukee thomas and mcgee ::shudders::
  19. week 5-7 we played the #1,25th and #4 ranked defenses. week 9-11 we played the 24th, 16th, and 28th ranked defense That might have something to do with the difference in statistics. If the offensive stats improve particularly in the redzone color me convinced. Right now though I chalk it up to our opponents defensive weakness.
  20. Yeah. Im still pissed I started donte stallworth over evans, but with the bills woeful passing yardage of late I felt it was the right move. Now with McNabb out for the year evans stays in.
  21. Thats nice and everything. All I really care about is Wins losses and points. Losman trails the pack there. You can keep qb ratings.
  22. Phillip Rivers looks good because Phillip Rivers is good. I know people say "Well you can't compare college to the pros" but Rivers is amazingly accuracte and poised one of the most efficent college qb's of all time. I believe he's the most accurate qb in NCAA history. 4 years as a starter for the Wolfpac with 4 bowl apperances and 3 victorires including 02 Gator Bowl over ND. Yeah he has a bit of an unorthodox release but his arm is stronger then people give him credit for and he gets the ball out quickly. Yeah he was blessed to land with a team with one of the greatest rb's of this or any other era, but I won't knock his talents. Sd also has a rookie lt who came in and is playing like an all pro in Marcus Mcneil. Their rt Shane Olivea is a 7th rd pick. Guard Kris Dielman an udfa Defensive tackle who was moved to guard. Guard Mike Goff Acquired as a URFA from the bengals a 3rd rd draft pick in 1998. Center Nick Hardwick a 3rd rd choice in 2004. All World te Antoinio Gates an udfa. The Chargers probably have one of the worst all around wr cores in the league. Rivers is more then just some guy, and what he's doing in his first year starting regardless of tomlinson is pretty damn impressive. Rivers will be an all pro qb for years to come, and imo the best all around qb drafted in the last 5 years. As For Eli and Losman. I was never impressed with Manning or Losman for that matter. I think they both have a case of happy feet, both have a bad habit of forcing passes and staring down receivers. One good game by Losman isn't gonna change my opinion of him. Have another good 2-3 games and I'll sway my opinion that he just won't cut it. Eli wouldn't be nearly as hyped if it wasn't for his name. He wasn't as good as Peyton in college and hes more of a risk/reward guy. Not terribly accurate, and indecisive in his throws. Has a bad habit of throwing off his back foot too often. That Chargers/Giants trade is going to go down as one of the worst trades in nfl history next to the hershel walker deal. Rivers/Merriman/Keading/Oben for Eli Manning
  23. Frank Gore had all world talent. The only thing holding him back was a history of injuries otherwise he would've been a top 10 pick. He's beginning to prove that now.
  24. RG- Seeing as we're probably going to be drafting pretty high I dont advise a draft Here. I'd also like to see more of Duke Preston before I say this an absolute must. RT- Same thing with Pennington. LG- This is gandys contract year. I dont really see him coming back, depending on his play down the stretch. TE- We get zilch from this spot. DE- I like the way Hargrove has played, but really would like a legit pass rusher opposite schobel. There's some good ones in the draft. DT- This is our weakest position defensively and most in need of an upgrade. I like McCargos potential. I'm not asking for the next Ted Washington, but a pat williams type who btw plays in a cover 2 in minn would be great. CB- Priority #1 RE-SIGN NATE CLEMENTS. For 3 weeks in a row now he has really lived up to the billing as the playmaker. Vs GB Tipped pass in the endzone leading to a ko simpson interception. @ Indy Forced fumble/fumble recovery. @ Hou Int, Fumble Recovery, and batted down pass on 3rd and 2 leading to a texans punt with a little over a minute left.
  25. I've been an ardent tiki barber fan the past few years, but I'm beginning to change my view. Tomlinson just may be the best rb I've ever seen. He's going to smash the td record this year. No it wasn't the same guy, nor the right qb. You're thinking of former Steelers de and current jets de Kimo Von OlHoffen, who injured Carson Palmer.
