Broncos lose; out of the playoffs
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Larry Johnson has the potnetial to be a nightmare matchup for the colts. However with the amount of carries LJ has received this year his legs also have the potential to fall off. If Im the pats I hate that matchup. The jets seem to match up well to ne. With the jets beating ne @ ne the last time they met and winning 24-17 against the jets @ the meadowlands. That's a tossup. -

In the long run yes. Plummer probably could've gotten them to the playoffs but I'll eat my shoes if jake ever goes to a superbowl as a starting qb. He sure as hell wouldn't have gone into baltimore or sd and won. Shanahan knew this and decided it was better to get cutler the experience now. -
actually that was a bad deep ball. too much of a floater
-
Hey at least it's respectable
-
yeah pretty much and broke up a deep pass as well. What a bum
-
suggs absolutly schooled mike gandy. By the time gandy was in position he was blocking air
-
I know we're not making the playoffs, and I doubt we're winning this game but a good offensive drive would be nice and I dont think it's too much to ask
-
The only logical next step is to put the red jerseys on and have the quaterback completely off limits. You get flagged now for properly tackling a qb

Where are those people who thought.....
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Garranimal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes to the 1st part. No to the 2nd. Keeping willis and getting a younger rb to have that dual threat would be the right move this year. -
Pro Bowler Tony Romo appears to have lost "IT"

wow. I wont even pretend I know how nfl contracts work. I assume McGahee made more then that based off incentives in his rookie contract but still who on earth gave daimon shelton that much cash. WOW

The Rosenhaus / Levy Poker Game has started
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry, but I generally won't take hearsay from message board as indisputable fact. Not that I'm gonna call that poster a liar, but to me it's nothing more then 2nd hand gossip. What I will do though is take issue with people who say McGahee lacks "heart" that's flat out not true. He might not have the production some people desire, which is a more then fair argument. I personally believe it's due to a very shaky offensive line and non polished but improving passing game. What I've seen the last 5 weeks of this season is a rb coming off broken ribs put up 388 yards on 94 attempts for 4.1ypc and 5 tds. With an upgraded oline and more experience for the offense I have no reason other then to believe he could expand on those #'s. There's something to be said for continuity. However don't get me wrong I am by no means opposed to the drafting of another rb. Infact I think it would be a great idea not to get rid of McGahee but to have a more versatile 1-2 punch. In the vein of fred taylor/jones drew or mcallister/bush etc etc. -

Can you let me tear your acl/mcl/pcl then break your ribs and lets see how much "heart" or whatever imaginary term you can come up with perform your job with. -
Those lion teams had next to zero talent on them. Charlie Batch, James Stewart, Johnnie Morton, David Sloan? It wouldn't suprise me if Marty got another look from nfl teams.
-
Marty Morningweg- He's done wonders revitalizing the career of jeff garcia and not only keeping the eagles offense afloat but as the #2 offense in the nfl and 6th in scoring offense for their best offensive ranking since 1990. Brian Westbrook is having a career year as well.

Trade McGahee to the Giants for a #1.
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with most of what you said. Although I dont think McGahee is looking for as big of a contract as you think. More then anything I think he's looking for security. The fact that this is being brought up now tells me. He wants to stay here and would rather worry about it now then when his rookie contract is up. Now aside from that if McGahee was to be traded to the giants for their #1 pick I'd much rather draft Marshawn Lynch over Adrian Peterson. -
FA Running Backs (Possible WM Replacements)
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Davenport has been in the league 5 years already and while he's performed well as a backup the most carries he's received in a season in 5 years is 77. Like I said in my previous post. Draft a rb, not take other teams backups. -
FA Running Backs (Possible WM Replacements)
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't get any free agent rb, unless it's to be a backup. That's not the way to get starting rb's. The Draft is. There's been too many hot shot backups that just don't pan out. That's not to say Michael Turner won't, but theres also a chance he could become the next troy hambrick/kevan barlow/lamont jordan which the overall production he gives you as a starter just doesn't amount up especially for the type of contract that he'll likely receive. The draft is the only way to go. -
Probably cause Nance didnt play st's and while more of an upside at receiver then aiken or davis, couldn't afford to waste a roster spot for a guy who wouldn't contribute much.

RJ/Flutie type switch in Chicago
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rex Grossman is a real nfl qb. The problem is Lovie Smith spent far too long alongside Mike Martz. He fell in love with grossmans arm in the playoffs last year ignoring their bread and butter Thomas Jones, and during grossmans downswing he got away once again from the run game and working the middle of the field specifficaly using Desmond Clark and Muhammed. Grossman had his best games this year when Desmond Clark was involved in the offense. However the basis of their offense simply became. "Hey Bernard Run fast down the field and rex will force it to you". Grossman is a highly talented but inexperienced quaterback with questionable coaching and average skill position talent. -
Starting with Atlanta- I almost feel for Mora because he's not all to blame for atlantas shortcomings and contrary to my opinion that the falcons wont be a consistent winner with Vick he's not entirely to blame either. Rich McKay should take the fall but I doubt he will. I think they'll go after an offensive minded head coach in hopes of proving every vick doubter wrong. I get the feeling Arthur Blank is more concerned about fitting square pegs into round holes then building a team. I believe they will go after Steve Marricui, trying unsucessfuly once again to fit vick into a wco. Giants- Everyone pretty much considers coughlin gone but ernie accorssi will probably be gone as well. Leaving a vacant gm job. As I don't know much about front office personell I'll leave that area alone and just get to who the coaching possibilities are. With the talent the giants still have a good number of vets and not a lot in the way of foundation as most of their team was built thru free agency. I wouldn't rule out the small chance of a Jim Fassel return. I could also see possibly Ron Rivera here. Arizona- like you said it's basically a given Denny Green is gone. I'm just gonna take a wild stab here, but someone I can see getting the job here. Marty Morningweg. After seeing how well Jeff Garcia has been playing as of late, and the career year of Brian Westbrook, and doing it with no name receivers. I think he passes cam cameron as this years hot shot head coaching prospect. Yeah I know he was a failure in detroit.... Who Isn't? I think Arizona will be the place he gets his second chance.

Great example with Westbrook. Westbrook never ran for 1000 yards and was always kind of the forgotten man in phillys success, but he's having a career year rushing behind the eagles massive offensive line. Everyone on that line is well over 320lbs and can move, and move people out of the way. Good in pass protection and great run blocking. Not suprised westbrooks carries have increased his yards rushing tds and ypc are all career highs, while at the same time still as dangerous as ever as a receiving back. If we can get a line like that we'd have great success running the ball.

Id go after Derrick Dockery. Who has been a beast run blocking for the redskins this season for lg. The redskins I believe lead the league in ypc average of runs to the left side. Dockery/Peters would be a damn good left side. I'd keep gandy around. At rg I really dont know maybe the draft.
