Anyone else bothered by Jack's new handle?

I find it kind of amusing that you're all hot and bothered by "JIS" -
When did this become a Patriots Fan Board?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to apuszczalowski's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The safeties I get although Harrison when healthy is still a good player. Not as good as he used to be but still effective and a presence over the middle who brings a lot of experience to the table. Hawkins/Sanders Yeah I get that. Although safeties generally aren't key players but point noted. Losing wr's means nothing. You dont build championship teams with wideouts. The pats do a great job surrounding brady with a cast of talent. Ben Watson/Daniel Graham/Maroney are all 1st rd picks. Dillon who has gotten back on track this season. An oline with consists of 3 1st day picks. The argument that brady doesnt have good talent around him doesn't hold water. For years the pats have run their offense a lot of 2 te sets with average wr's. Placing importance on their oline wth a competant running game to relieve pressure off Brady. It's the same story this year, except they rely a little more on the run game. The argument that brady is bereft of talent doesn't hold water with 3 1st rd picks around him. 4 couting guard logan mankins. The pats starting lb's are listed as banta cain/bruschi/vrabel/colvin. No 6th rd rookie in that group. All have received extensive playing time. I'll assume when Seau was in vrabel was moved outside. Banta cain has been starting since week 13. Vrabel started all season. Same for Bruschi and Colvin. Their 6th rd pick de/olb jeremey mincey is no longer on the pats roster. The only "weak" part of that defense is their secondary made a hell of a lot better by their awesome defensive line. I just don't see that team as underdogs in the least. If anything they should be favored of the remaining teams to win it all. Anything less would be a dissapointment -
When did this become a Patriots Fan Board?

This is the thing I dont get about the love fest for the pats. Yeah I can appreciate well coached football and teams who just find ways to win. I just really wonder where this perception of the "underdog" comes from when pertains to the pats? It's not like they dont have a defensive line full of 1st rd picks Seymour/Wilfork/Warren. Seymour being pretty established as one of the top if not the best defensive linemen in the game. Or an established top 3 quaterback with the best coach currently in the game? Going up against an overachieving jets team with a rookie hc, marty chokenheimer, and now another notorious playoff choker tony dungy and peyton manning? I'd be more shocked if the pats lost. -
yes i say go Pats!

Na you're not bandwagon jumping -
1. Calvin Johnson 2. Adrian Peterson 3. Joe Thomas 4. Gaines Adams 5. JaMarcus Russell

This has got to be a joke right? What kind of self respecting fan can root for a divisional rival?
-
That's fairly obvious. The pats oline consists of 3 1st day picks. LG- Logan Mankins LT- Matt Light and RT Nick Kaczur. a UDFA and 5th rd pick. RG- Stephen Neal and C- Dan Koppen. Meanwhile none of our oline were 1st day picks drafted by us. Our best players are a 7th rd and UDFA te turned tackle. NE does an incredible job placing importance in the trenches and it shows. They do an even better job with their dline. Hopefully we can learn to follow that same example.

I could be wrong but I remember hearing he did not get along with Kevin Gilbride at all, and his insistence to not adjust his scheme to a more run based offense instead of a pass heavy offense. Even so much so where during one time in 2003 near the end of the season he damn near flipped out.

Taking the next step from 7-9
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Adam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Which is why I think if Clements winds up anywhere it'll be with the Vikings and not the redskins. Fred Smoot is awful. I still await the day he's cut someone saying "We should sign fred smoot to replace Nate". My biggest worry about losing Nate is not so much how good he is and he is damn good. It's the collective experience of the secondary. Lose Nate and the oldest guy in our secondary is 29 year old Kiwaukee Thomas. Who just is not good enough to be a #1 or #2 corner. Assuming we even sign Kiwaukee. Plus I still have my doubts about McGee being a #2 corner. There's something to be said for experience in this league, and taking away our best and most experienced db who will be only 28 next december is not the way to build a winning team. -
Comments I Thought You Would Enjoy
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Pass the Pipe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. His name is Marcus McNeil but yeah that would've been nice 2. Brian Urlacher is an incredibly ahtletic lb, who makes a lot of plays on the ball. Like most MLB's he needs good dt's in front of him. However he's still a hell of a player. 3. Sure if Richard Seymour/Vince Wilfork/Ty Warren all come with him. Clements did not give up 1 td all season, and plays behind a piss poor dline. Not to take anything away from samuel but he's surrounded by a hell of a lot more talent than clements is. 4. Sure is but KO Simpson looks like he's gonna be a player in his own right. Every time I've seen the guy in college he's consistently around the ball making plays. His tackling leaves a lot to be desired, but he will be a play maker at fs. 5. JP has a much better arm then hasselbeck. There's throws hasselbeck can't make that Losman can. 6. ? RT- Nick Kaczur 3rd rd pick RG- Stephan Neal UDFA. C- Dan Koppen- 5th rd LG- Logan Mankins 1st rd LT- Matt Light 2nd rd. 3 1st day picks a 5th rd and a UDFA. NE places incredible importance on the trenches. More so their dline which consists of 3 1st rd picks. Any wonder why they're so successful? They draft linemen extremely well. 7. Of course not he's older he's still one of the better mlbs in the game though on a highly succesful defense. Has had to deal with piss poor offenses for years. 8. Id rather see Daniel Graham in Buffalo then with the Giants. 9. Jabar gaffney had 11 catches during the regular season. Now one game makes him some good wr? 10. Our secondary would be awful without Nate Clements. Absolutely awful. Besides McFarland is not worth a 2nd rd pick. Last I checked indy had the worst run defense in the league. Bob Sanders a 5'8 safety and Marlin Jackson a corner are their best run defenders. -
Yes I would still take Rivers over Losman. Losman may be the most physicially talented qb from that draft. However Rivers is probably the smartest. For a 1st year starter he very rarely seems rattled by pressure. He delivers passes with good accuracy and has a stronger arm then he's sometimes given credit for. Yeah he has LT behind him, but Rivers is damn good in his own right. He has the ncaa record for completition pct and very rarely throws ints. It tends to translate well to the nfl level. Losman could prove to be the best of the bunch but for now I still say Rivers will be.

What did the Pats do today to keep your hate up?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to ajflutie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll never be happy until we can supplant the patriots. So yes I hate them. I think they're one of the more talented teams in the league defensively and their qb, but until we get to where they are or at least until we can win the afc east I will hate the top dog in the yard. Call it envy or whatever. I consider it being a fan of of a team in the afc east. Same would go if it was the jets or dolphins. -
I respect good coaching as much as the next guy but that's a really bad comparison. The pats have one of the most talented defenses in football and a smart qb. The bills had a guy who was just starting 16 games and not a lot of talent save 1-2 guys.
-
Man can you get any luckier? The pats played like complete ass and managed to get break after break after break. Brady should buy troy brown a new home, and Marty should definitely get canned.

Because Florence "attempted" to headbut Graham, but graham pushed Florence before that occured. Still a dumb play by Drayton Florence.

Broderick Bunkley!

exactly. Talk to me again a 2-3 years from now about bunkley. DT is not an easy position to contribute right away. -
