Im all for drafting dts but all in all this is a sh------- dt year. Okoye is an intriguing prospect but at now 287lbs is he willing to get back up to 300-310 range and is he worth 12th overall? As of now I'd say no and still would be in more favor of drafting patrick willis.

Am I the only person?

Thank god he will never be a starter for the Bills With that he did do a somewhat decent job in the 4-4-3 defensive alignment as an extra lb. Still not a fundamentaly sound tackler. Not good in coverage. Not near our best st's player. I guess he has heart or some imaginary term to make up for his lack of football skills. -
Have you considered Buffalo won't ever sign
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kyle Williams- Yeah if McCargo didn't get hurt kyle williams wouldn't have played as much as he does. Although Williams showed a lot of promise I think he'll make a good rotational guy. Really outplayed Tim Anderson who once again proved to be a big scrub. I love the potential of McCargo but his injury history worries me. Foot injuries tend to linger, but he is very quick off the snap. If he can stay healthy and get stronger he'll be a force. DT is our biggest need and this was just a reflection of that. Ko Simpson- I'll say it. KO Simpson is going to be better then Donte Whitner. Not that whitner isn't good but I believe Simpson will be a serious playmaker. When our db's were struggling early in the year I sat and read "Simpson looks slow he's not fast at all" I marked it down as simply a rookie learning coverage scehemes and as the year went on we were rarely beat deep and Simpson and Whitner played very disciplined football. KO Simpson will be a starter for a very long time and a db you can build around. Where I feel Whitner will be a solid player and a mainstay who makes his mark in solid coverage and run support I think Ko Simpson will be a difference maker forcing turnovers as well as being a good hitter in his own right. As for Terrance Pennington It's too soon to have any real opinion. He obviously has the size to play rt. He was stuck with a guy at rg who should be a backup and we rarely ran to the right side during the final few weeks so a true judgement can't be made. He also received help often from rb's and te's in pass protection. We'll have more of an idea next year. I agree with the statement disagree with free agency being the means to do this. You build teams thru the draft. It can't be overstated enough in order to build a succesful football team you do not overspend in free agency for names of players with mileage on them. A Player here or there fine. For depth purposes mostly, but you want the core of your team to be talent you drafted. Yeah you know what you're pretty much gettin from free agent pickups and not from a rookie. However drafted players tend to be more loyal and easier to re-sign have less mileage and tend to be more energetic players which rubs off. Teams built primarly on free agents do not win consistently. -
Dan Marino's NFL TOP 5 QB's are........LOL
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1 and 2 are definitely Brady and Manning. No arguing that. 3 I'd give the nod to drew brees over Carson Palmer. Say what you want about having lt, or reggie bush but Brees hasn't had near the receiver talent that Palmer has had. 4th I'd put Palmer 5th I'd go with Hasselbeck who seems to get over looked but has been one of the more consistent qb's in the league the past 3-4 years, and came very close to the nfc championship game this year with a not so talented sehawks team. I expect he'll bounce back to his usual 3300+ yards 20+ td type season next year. I actualy really like Bulger but I gave the nod to hasselbeck because he doesn't play with 2 possible future hof wr's. If Bulger can stay healthy again for the entire year he'll jump hasselbeck and possibly palmer. -

Who's the Biggest Sleeper?
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to BuffaloBilliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Booker could be one of those guys who turns out to be a much better pro then college player. With the potential to be a great change of pace guy/ 3rd down back. Great receiver. Maybe he could develop into a westbrook/tiki type player. I don't think he'll be an everydown back though. One rb I do like who I think has the potential to develop into 20-25 carry guy Louiville rb Kolby Smith. -

You're not actually gonna compare the talent of the pats to that of the bills? Ne is a far superior team for a playoff experienced team going up against the jets/marty/dungy it's a easy playoff ride the combined playoff record of those coaches is 12-22. Meanwhile Belichick is 13-2 about to be 14-2. The Pats have severly outmatched all 3 of the teams they faced in coaching and in the trenches.
-
The best way to consistently win is to build the core of your team thru the draft with free agency used as a means for depth
-
Could the pats have had an easier playoff run. Rookie HC, Chokenheimer, and now dungy. Superbowl apperance on a silver platter

Take away the score, the players, the coaches, the fans, the day and it's still saturday
-
Yeah Im assuming the bears will most likely tag briggs if they cant get him re-signed hes probably their best all around playmaker.
-
you and fans of about 25 other teams. Lance Briggs would be great, but I'd rather not give up draft picks

You haven't been watching indy for the past few years have you? Cato June is an olb for indy. There are never "monster dt's" in front of him. He excells in coverage 10 ints in the past 3 years. and he's a pretty good tackler as well averaging 118 tackles in the past 3 seasons. He'd be a good addition for our defense seeing how we play the tampa 2. Would also be much cheaper then lance briggs

Got this off aol news thought it was amusing. http://sports.aol.com/nba/story/_a/man-cla...117185009990001 Man Claims Lakers' Brown Stole His Cake Player Allegedly Threw Birthday Treat Before Leaving AP Sports HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. (Jan. 17) - A man walking down the street at bar-closing time with a $190 cake in his arms claimed Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown swiped his birthday treat. But authorities said the cake caper won't be prosecuted. In a police report, Alexander Martinez said he left his 30th birthday celebration at the Shore Restaurant and Lounge at about 1:45AM Saturday with the uneaten 2-by-2-foot cake and walked north toward the Blue 32 nightclub. Martinez told police he first came upon Lakers forward Ronny Turiaf , who he said agreed to pose for a photograph with him and the chocolate cake. But outside of Blue 32, the 6-foot-11, 270-pound Brown came along, grabbed the cake and threw it at Martinez, according to the report. Brown got into a white limousine and left, Martinez claimed in the report, although he didn't suggest any reason for the cake toss. Martinez reported that he then walked up to Lamar Odom as the Lakers forward left Pedone's Pizza and confronted him about the cake, which was splattered on the birthday man's back. A man believed to be Odom's bodyguard pushed Martinez into the street, yelling at him to get away from Odom, the police report said. "Calm down, he didn't do anything," Odom told the man believed to be his bodyguard, the report said. Everyone then went their separate ways and Martinez filed a police report 12 hours later. Detectives presented a possible "grand theft of a person" case to the city attorney's office, which decided not to prosecute. Brown wasn't talking, but Lakers spokesman John Black said the team was aware of the alleged incident and had been told prosecutors were not filing charges. Black had no other comment. The Lakers are on a three-game road trip through Saturday. In July of 2006, a woman accused Brown of sexual assault. The district attorney's office dropped the case after a medical exam of the alleged victim was reviewed and revealed no signs of forcible sexual assault. Brown, averaging 8.7 points and 6.6 rebounds, has been sidelined since spraining his right ankle on Dec. 31. He is expected back in about two weeks. Copyright 2007 The Associated Press. A bigger, longer #2 WR for the Bills
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
September - 3 games TOTAL 3 37 12.3 20 0 October- 4 games TOTAL 6 57 9.5 21 0 November- 4 games TOTAL 5 28 5.6 9 0 December- 5 games TOTAL 9 111 12.3 33 3 Definitely not premiere numbers but compared to what we've had at te lately I think Royal is better then them. I'd much prefer to go to a 2 te set offense, with a more reliable receiving te but royal played well at the end of the year considering the type of player he is. -

MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Royal is a nice player but more and more teams are using 2 te systems these days. 2 te's lead to very productive redzone offenses. It's worked for ne/indy/the chiefs/sd etc etc for the past few years. As a decent player as roayl is another pure receiving te would do wonders especially for the redzone offense forcing teams to stay honest against the run and pass. It allows you to do much more with your run game as well. -
WR moves this offseason
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to RuntheDamnBall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Starting with Davis and Aiken. I know they both are very good st's players however I dont see the point in keeping 2 roster spots at the same position for strictly st's play when neither contributes as a wideout. Determine which one is more valuable on st's and let go the other one. Like you and the other poster. Maybe George Wilson steps up preferably though I'd prefer a #2 wr or receiving te. A receiving te is a young qb's best friend and would do more imo for losmans confidence as he progresses then another wideout. I'm not looking for the next gates although that would be nice. Someone like Daniel Graham or Jerramy Stevens would be good. Or in the later part of the draft. Possibly someone like Martrez Milner from Georgia who might be a bit of a project due to not much playing time in playing time, but when he's played he's done well. He had some issues with drops. More of a draft on potential but for a middle round pick would not be a bad pickup. As far as free agency goes theres not much in the way of anything that good. I know everyone shouts off about Drew Bennett, but going this route and keeping with the system. Maybe someone like Kevin Curtis or Shaun McDonald from the rams who have experience in fairchilds system. I'd really prefer not to spend a lot of money for a guy like bennett when that money can go towards other areas or re-signing Nate. If McDonald or Curtis don't interest you and you're not keen on the idea of Bennett maybe Travis Taylor who would be a nice #2 if we let go of price. My biggest with this as well as the potential of losing Nate is the experience factor. You really need that guy who's been there done that and can teach the younger players. All I remember hearing is how Price became a father figure to Roscoe and took him under his wing. Which is why I dont think Price will get cut. Regardless of low ypc. Which I think is more of a reflection on how he was used and Losmans slow development over the course of the season. He was used more as a security blanket posession receiver then sent out on deeper routes. Fairchilds poor man version of Ike Bruce to Lee Evans Torry Holt. Next season I'd prefer more of a 2 te system. I believe you can do so much more out of the passing and running games and be much more effective in the redzone where we have struggled the most. Losman and company have shown the ability to move between the 20's but down in the redzone have not been nearly as effective. A 2 te system would give us more options to keep defenes honest respecting both the run and pass. It mostly gives you more options for a stronger run game as it's basically having 2 extra linemen on the field. Ne excells at the 2 te system as does indy and teams like sd and kc etc etc etc. The deph chart I'll say will end up looking like this.. WR- 1. Evans 2. Price 3. Reed 4. Parrish 5.Draft pick 6. Davis TE- 1. Robert Royal 2. FA or draft pick 3. Brad Cieslak te/h-back -

Radiers interviewing former Bill
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It depends how you look at it. Coaching the raiders could kill any future opportunities that Lofton has. He's been the chargers wr coach for the past 4 years. I highly doubt it's a serious interview. Probably to get by the Rooney Rule
