An Article about Nate
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to KC from Cali's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Flat out not true. Nate did not give up a touchdown all season. Mcgee was the one who was flat out horrible. When The coaching staff decided to play more man to man and have Nate consistently on teams #1 receiver he was lock down. -
Browns must be the most unlucky team....
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good thing we didn't sign bentley. Really though that sucks. I hope for the browns and Bentleys sake it's not the end of his career. -
I really like Odell Thurman great speed and a playmaker. If he can get over his off the field issues maybe a change of scenery will help. He does have a lot of talent, and considering our need at lb it wouldn't hurt to look at a rather good playmaker. I also think he was a bit out of position at mlb. When I watch him I see someone who could make the most damage as a weak side backer coming off the edge operating in space. If he's over his off field issues definitely someone I'd like to have.

5 Free Agents Under the radar:
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Buffan00's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No that was James Hall who had a 3 sack game. I do however like redding he could be a solid dt addition. -
Depends what you consider a succesful running game. Together tatum and mike bell had decent stats. Taking a closer look individualy Tatum Bell was anything but productive and has proved to be best served as a change of pace back and not the everydown type back a terrell davis, mike anderson, clinton portis were. Tatum Bell while he is pretty damn fast, is not a guy you can give a lot of carries too and expect consistent results. In his 3 seasons has proven unreliable as a receiver. If you can get draft picks for the guy who is nothing more then a change of pace back you go for it. Bell doesn't offer you a good goalline option. In a rb system you need at least 1 rb who can handle the majority of carries and adrian peterson undoubtedly would offer that. While Mike Bell can offer them similar production to that of tatum. Adrain Peterson for the price of Jake Plummer and a #2 type back? Unreal trade for denver if they can do it.
-
If adrian peterson even lasts to 8 it's a great move for denver. If he doesn't last that long it's too early to draft marshawn lynch.

Nate Clements is not that good
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A Playmaker comparison of some of those names. Terrence Newman, Deangelo Hall I won't do strictly because they're vastly overrated. Deangelo Hall can be counted on for big plays for the other team. Deltha O'neal. . As Daquixers said Law has been cut by 2 teams in the past 2 years. He's also a penalty machine. Surtain is as slow as Sammy Knight is now. Shawn Springs I liked a lot, however the guy is real injury prone and should be moved to safety. Sheppard is a decent corner but he's not near the tackler Nate Clements is. So here's a playmaker comparison comparison. Based strictly on stats. If I had the ability availble to me to compare coverage ability I would supply that info. However since you brought up what you think are people who "Make more plays" I'll simply use that criteria. Judge for yourselves. Nate Clements vs Champ Bailey Champ Bailey(8yrs)- 69.8 tackles per year. 1 career sack. 39ints. 4.8ints per year. Really boosted up in his last 2 years with 8 and 10 ints. before that averaged 3.5 per year. 425 int return yards for a 10.9 return average. 4 career tds. 97 passes defensed or 12 passes defensed per year. 5 career forced fumbles. Averages 5.5 turnover plays per season. Nate Clements(6yrs) - 72 tackles per year. 1.5 career sacks. 23ints 3.8ints per year. 341 return yards for a 14.8 int return average. 7 career tds. 5 on int's 2 punt returns. 61 passes defensed 10.1 per season. 13 career forced fumbles. Averages 6 turnover plays per season Nate Clements vs Ronde Barber Ronde Barber(9 Year starter)- 87 tackles per season 20 career sacks. 31ints. 3.4 per year. 552 return yards 17.8 return average. 5 career tds. 107 passes defensed.11.8 per year. 11 career forced fumbles. Averages 4.6 turnover plays per season Nate Clements(6yrs) - 72 tackles per year. 1.5 career sacks. 23ints 3.8ints per year. 341 return yards for a 14.8 int return average. 7 career tds. 5 on int's 2 punt returns. 61 passes defensed 10.1 per season. 13 career forced fumbles. Averages 6 turnover plays per season Nate Clements vs Asante Samuel Asante Samuel(4yrs)- 47 tackles per year. No sacks. 16ints. 4 per year. 224 return yards for 14 yard average. 43 passes defensed. 10.75 per season. 4 career forced fumbles. Averages 5 turnover causing plays per season Nate Clements(6yrs) - 72 tackles per year. 1.5 career sacks. 23ints 3.8ints per year. 341 return yards for a 14.8 int return average. 7 career tds. 5 on int's 2 punt returns. 61 passes defensed 10.1 per season. 13 career forced fumbles. Averages 6 turnover plays per season Nate Clements vs Chris Mcallister Chris McAlister(8 yrs)- 49 tackles per season. 0 career sacks. 22 ints. 2.75 per year. 458 return yards for 20.8 return averages. 6 career tds. 5 ints and 1 fumble recovery. 99 passes defensed. 12.4 per season. 1 career forced fumble. Averages 2.8 turnover plays per season. Nate Clements(6yrs) - 72 tackles per year. 1.5 career sacks. 23ints 3.8ints per year. 341 return yards for a 14.8 int return average. 7 career tds. 5 on int's 2 punt returns. 61 passes defensed 10.1 per season. 13 career forced fumbles. Averages 6 turnover plays per season The only people off your list that are above nate are Bailey and McAlister. Bailey I have never been a big fan of but he has improved in the area I thoiught he was rather weak in covering the deep route. I'd rank him and Mcalister above Nate. -

If he can win the job against legit competition sure why not. However we shouldn't be going into next season with him as our main mlb or him and some scrub from Average Joe Tech Div II football. -
Dre' Bly Seeking Trade
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ronde Barber, Brian Kelly, Nathan Vasher, and Charles Tillman all say hello. No offense to anyone but the whole idea of cover 2 is strength of secondary. Of course you need playmakers. However bigger importance should be placed along the dline because there is minimal to no blitzing. -

interesting things in here
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to K-Gun10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No I personally don't. I fully believe Arthur Blank cares more about the success of mike vick due to how good tomlinson turned out, then actually building a team that can win consistently. He's done nothing but spend 1st rd pick after 1st rd pick on wr's and trade for wr's, then care to draft a team to compete for championships. However the airport incident even though nothing came of it probably leaves a bad taste in his mouth and not the way he wants his new coach to start off his tenure. -
c mon buffalo this is boring

Lavar Arrington, Carlos Emmons, Luke Petigout
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm fully aware he's a lt, but Yes I'd sign him to to play rt. I dunno if he'd be willing to make the switch, but if he was it would be a nice way to solidify our tackle spots. -

I wouldn't mind taking a look at Luke Petitgout assuming he's healthy. He's been a pretty good tackle for the giants over the years and was arguably their best offensive linemen the past 2-3 years. Would be a nice addition to a team looking to improve in the trenches. -

One of the main points about the cover 2 is being disciplined in your role. Yes you need to have speed and athleticism, but being disciplined and playing within a scheme has never been a strong point of arringtons. I am however a little suprised the giants cut him because he was playing fairly well prior to getting injured. His injury must have been worse then previously let on. -
Julius Jones possible trade bait....
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All that says is julius jones isn't an every down back and that makes him better then a guy who is a 25-30 carry back how? Generally teams with more talent around them their skill position players will put up better stats. Jones has not been the most durable of runners and it's questionable if he's even better then Marion Barber. How exactaly does Julius Jones not being durable contribute to the fact that he's "better" then Willis? Outside of a saints blowout victory julius jones had 1 td over the last 9 games. His ypc would also drip dramaticaly. Is that really what you call production out of a starting rb regardless of whether or not he came out inside the redzone. If he did that here he'd be turned on faster then Willis or Henry was. Why trade a rb who is a 25-30 carry back for a guy who isn't? What does Julius Jones offer on the football field that McGahee isn't? The ability to not be an 25 carry back? Yeah he's faster then Willis but I just don't see the production warranting getting rid of McGahee for him. We're not getting anything beneficial in return, that merits a trade. Other then making the pitch fork crowd happy and needing to draft offensive line and another rb, because Jones can't be an everydown back. while taking on 2 new contracts for a split backfield. When we could just keep McGahee this year, improve the line and see what's what next season? -

Less receptions for over 20 yards but 1 40+ yard to jones's none and 1 less 1st down. Unless I'm missing something that's completly gone over my head I dont see anyway Julius Jones is better then Mcgahee or ever has been. He's managed to put up less stats with more offensive talent and a better coaching staff around him, but he's better football player because he's "just not willis" -
Not suprised at all and come combine I expect hall to drop more as other corners prove to be faster and more agile

Bills 1st and 2nd Round Draft Picks are:
MartyBall4Buffalo replied to keithg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think theres a chance Jamaal Anderson could be there come the 12th pick for a guy who just basicaly exploded on the scene this year he shot up the boards pretty quick. The fact that he doesn't have much experience might make some teams back off. If he's there though I definitely hope that's the direction we go. -
I hear he likes to dance and doesn't run a good 40 pass
